La idea del següent treball gira entorn al programari lliure i la seva aplicació en el camp de la robòtica. Partint d’un nucli amb la FPGA Alhambra II (una FPGA de la família ice40, en essència privada, però amb la PCB i el seu entorn de programari lliure) tenim el nostre robot de quatre potes, amb tres servomotors cadascuna per al desplaçament. Tota aquesta estructura va ser ja desenvolupada en un TFG passat [1], i la feina feta en aquest treball ens mostra les millores i canvis introduïts per arribar a tenir un robot autònom i més eficient. Utilitzant programari lliure millorem la base física del robot, construint una nova PCB acoblada damunt de la FPGA per tal de poder encabir i connectar totes les millores necessàries de la nostra estructura, basada en la bio-robòtica. D’altra banda també fem un canvi profund al sistema de control de moviment, implementant un nou circuit basat en la memòria ROM, deixant endarrere el sistema més analògic de multiplexors.

As Internet demand continues to grow, the underlying technology struggles to keep up with the ever-increasing data rates. Existing 100G Ethernet is reaching its physical limits and superior solutions need to take over. PAM-4 will be a key enabler capable of doubling the speeds of current NRZ solutions. However, it comes with its own implementation challenges, mainly from the signal integrity (SI) perspective. This thesis will evaluate the impact of complex channel characteristics on a 56 Gbps PAM-4 transmission link using SI methods. The study will be structured in three stages. First, a test board will be designed with multiple layout challenges (e.g., stackup, crosstalk, vias). Next, the effect of those designs on a PAM-4 transmission will be simulated using High-Speed Digital Design tools. Finally, results will be validated with physical measurements on a development board. More than 200 viruses have been detected in bats. Some unique bat characteristics can explain the roles played in the maintenance and transmission of viruses: long phylogenetic history can have originated coevolution processes, great number of species are adapted to live in different environments, big mobility, long lifespan and gregarious behaviour of many species. To analyse zoonoses long longitudinal studies are needed with a multidisciplinary approximation to obtain the following eco-epidemiological data: colony size, number of bats per species, population structure, behaviour of each species, degree of contact between bats, social structure, remaining time of bats in the colony, colony type, foraging area, turnover rate of individuals, shelter temperature, relationship with other colonies and co-infection processes. These data allows assessing the epidemiological risk and which preventive measures are necessary to take. The structure and functionality of ecosystems are changing worldwide at an unprecedented rate and can modify the interactions between humans and infected bats. There are more or less local factors that can affect the emergence and spread of diseases (environmental alterations, changes in land use, human population growth, changes in human socioeconomic behavior or social structure, people mobility increase, trade increase, forest fires, extreme weather events, wars, breakdown in public health infrastructure, etc.). Twenty-three percent of all bat species in the world are decreasing. How does the regression of bat species affect the dynamic of viruses? The dichotomy between health risk and bat preservation is compatible with a preventive task based on more information and training.

SHIELD is a distributed cyber-security system that leverages Network Function Virtualisation for dynamically deploying virtual Network Security Functions. The security functions send network traffic’s monitoring data to a big-data store. The Data Analysis and Remediation Engine executes security analytics modules on top of monitoring data modules in order to detect threats. The security analytics heavily leverage Machine Learning algorithms for detecting anomalies and classifying threats. This paper presents the different Machine Learning algorithms and details the obtained results and the direction taken by the project with regards to its implementation, including business capabilities for the cybersecurity solution.
