Aim: To enable improvements in global child health, the focus must move beyond child survival to child wellbeing. In the Pacific Islands, the wellbeing of children has received little attention. This study aimed to investigate the wellbeing of children from three primary schools in Tonga. Methods: A cross‐sectional survey was completed in three primary schools in Nuku'alofa with children aged 5–15 years. The study participants (256 children, 143 caregivers) completed the Child Health and Illness Profile – Child Edition, CHIP‐CE (Version 1.0). Results: On average, >70% of children and caregivers described home and school environments as positive. From the children's reports, boys had significantly lower scores for risk avoidance than girls (3.40 vs. 3.73, P < 0.001). Children aged 5–7 versus 8–15 years had significantly lower scores for satisfaction (3.63 vs. 3.92, P = 0.002), resilience (3.34 vs. 3.56, P = 0.016) and achievement (3.25 vs. 3.62, P = 0.002). From the caregivers' report, girls had significantly lower scores for academic performance than boys (3.60 vs. 3.81, P = 0.04). Boys had significantly lower scores for individual risk association compared to girls (3.93 vs. 4.29, P = 0.01). Overall CHIP‐CE scores were lower than those of comparable populations in the West, while at the same time protective factors were documented. Conclusions: Understanding child wellbeing in the Pacific is critical for strengthening protective factors known to mitigate poor child health outcomes. Use of school-based clinics (SBHCs) has been endorsed by health care professionals and policy-makers in an attempt to improve access to health care, especially comprehensive primary care services, to all [...], Using a theoretical model of access, factors associated with rural adolescents' willingness to use primary care services through a school-based health center (SBHC) were examined Standardized measures of health status and use were administered to 633 adolescents in grades 7-12 who resided in one rural western Maryland county. Although only 6.5% (n = 41) of the sample indicated a willingness to change their regular source of care to an SBHC, greater numbers of adolescents reported a willingness to use SBHC services, with 18%, 38%, 25%, and 16%, indicating interest in routine, acute medical, miscellaneous, and reproductive health care services, respectively. logistic regression analysis found those adolescents who reported eligibility for free-reduced lunch and no regular source of care for illness were 3.3 and 5.4 times more likely, respectively, to use an SBHC as a primary care site than those unwilling to change their source of care. Data suggest that initially many rural adolescents appear unwilling to change their primary' care site to an SBHC, but do express a willingness to use offered services. The Chief Financial Officer Act of 1990 requires the preparation and audit of financial statements for many federal government programs and agencies. The first comprehensive set of financial statements prepared to meet the provisions of the CFO Act were for the fiscal year ended September 30, 1991 and were published in CFO Annual Reports due in August of 1992. This paper presents the results of a study of performance measurement in the fiscal year 1991 financial statements of the sixty-three reporting entities filed as part of the 1992 CFO Annual Reports. The purpose of the analysis of performance measures included in the fiscal year 1991 financial statements was to determine to what extent the financial statements of each of the reporting entities included the various types of performance measures identified in the framework developed for this project. The paper also includes an in-depth analysis of the performance measures reported by the Social Security Administration and the Department of Labor.

Schools that are involved in tree planting schemes to provide more attractive surroundings may also use the areas planted to help in the teaching of National Curriculum Scientic Investigations. The planting of young trees requires surrounding areas to be cleared and kept free of weeds to allow them to establish. Such plantations can be used as the basis for a comparison of the growth of young trees under different weed control systems. Details of a school tree planting scheme on the Isle of Wight are presented.

Abstract Background The objectives of the study were to assess the reliability, and the content, construct, and convergent validity of the Spanish version of the CHIP-CE/PRF, to analyze parent-child agreement, and compare the results with those of the original U.S. version. Methods Parents from a representative sample of children aged 6-12 years were selected from 9 primary schools in Barcelona. Test-retest reliability was assessed in a convenience subsample of parents from 2 schools. Parents completed the Spanish version of the CHIP-CE/PRF. The Achenbach Child Behavioural Checklist (CBCL) was administered to a convenience subsample. Results The overall response rate was 67% (n = 871). There was no floor effect. A ceiling effect was found in 4 subdomains. Reliability was acceptable at the domain level (internal consistency = 0.68-0.86; test-retest intraclass correlation coefficients = 0.69-0.85). Younger girls had better scores on Satisfaction and Achievement than older girls. Comfort domain score was lower (worse) in children with a probable mental health problem, with high effect size (ES = 1.45). The level of parent-child agreement was low (0.22-0.37). Conclusions The results of this study suggest that the parent version of the Spanish CHIP-CE has acceptable psychometric properties although further research is needed to check reliability at sub-domain level. The CHIP-CE parent report form provides a comprehensive, psychometrically sound measure of health for Spanish children 6 to 12 years old. It can be a complementary perspective to the self-reported measure or an alternative when the child is unable to complete the questionnaire. In general, the results are similar to the original U.S. version.
