Abstract

Accurate asymptotic solutions are presented for axisymmetric deformation of thin layers constrained by either two rigid plates or two rigid spheres. Those solutions are developed using Saint-Venant's principle and the layer thinness as the only assumptions. The solutions are valid in the entire range of Poisson's ratios, and allow one to distinguish among compressible, nearly incompressible, and incompressible layers. Abstract

The nature and severity of mitral/tufted (M/T) cells reactions to odorants presented in anesthesia depend on various factors, and, above all, the nature and concentration of the odor, anesthesia, and the functional state of the olfactory bulb (OB). Compared to wakefulness, under anesthesia, the intensity of OB M/T cells responses to the odorants presented increases. However, the influence of anesthesia dynamics on the intensity of such responses has not been studied. To address this problem in rats, the activity of M/T cells and the local field potentials (LFP) in OB were recorded in the course of xylazine-tiletamine-zolazepam (XTZ) anesthesia. It has been shown that in the course of the anesthesia, the average frequency of background and odorant-induced single-unit activity of M/T cells increases, while the dominant frequency value of LFP in the gamma frequency range (90–170 Hz), on the contrary, decreases. The observed effects are assumed to be associated with changes in the functional state of the OB and systems for processing olfactory information in anesthesia.

Abstract

Background. According to the scientific literature, anti-CD74 IgA antibodies (IgA anti-CD74) are considered as a possible marker for the diagnosis of axial spondyloarthritis (SpA). The level of IgA anti-CD74 in patients with back pain due to degenerative spine disease has not been studied. Therefore, it could be interesting to compare the serum levels of IgA anti-CD74 in patients with chronic back pain in various diseases. Aim: to compare the levels of IgA anti-CD74 in patients with SpA and degenerative spine diseases. Material and methods. A total of 87 SpA patients (55 male, mean age 41 [29; 49] years) fulfilling the Assessment of Spondyloarthritis International Society (2009) criteria for Axial SpA, and 39 patients (25 male, mean age 45 [34; 53] years) with neurologist-verified degenerative spine diseases (ICD 10 codes — M 51.1 and M 54.4) were enrolled to the study. The serum levels of IgA anti-CD74 were analyzed by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) in all patients. Results. The median levels of IgA anti-CD74 in patients with SpA were 11.3 [5.4; 19.4] U/ml, in patients with degenerative spine disease — 6.9 [4.5; 13.7] U/ml (p=0.024). IgA anti-CD74 serum levels were above the cut-off value in 58 (66.7 %) patients with SpA and only in 11 (28.2 %) patients with degenerative spine disease (p< 0,001). The elevated serum levels of IgA anti-CD74 were detected in 10 (40 %) of 25 male patients and in 1 (7.1 %) of 14 female patients (p = 0.029, χ2 = 4.785) with degenerative spine disease. Conclusion. Serum levels of I gA anti-CD74 were increased in two-thirds of patients with SpA. IgA anti-CD74 was significantly higher in SpA patients compared to patients with degenerative spine disease.

81. Serum concentrations of interleukin-6 and tumor necrosis factor alpha in patients with spondyloarthritis: a relationship between systemic inflammation and anemia

Abstract

Aim. To assess the relationship between the activity of systemic inflammation and the hemoglobin level in patients with spondyloarthritis (SpA).Materials and methods. We examined 92 patients with SpA aged 42.9 ± 11.6 years (SpA duration – 14.8 ± 9.6 years, 55 (60%) men). We calculated the BASDAI and ASDAS-CRP scores, performed complete blood count, evaluated erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR), ferrokinetic parameters, C-reactive protein (CRP) level, and serum concentrations of tumor necrosis factor α (TNF-α) and interleukin-6 (IL-6).Results. Anemia was found in 52 (57%) patients: 13 (25%) patients were diagnosed with anemia of inflammation (AI), 39 (75%) individuals had a combination of AI and iron deficiency anemia. A significant increase in CRP (17.8 vs. 9.0 mg / l, respectively; p = 0.001) and ESR (23 vs. 10 mm / h, p < 0.001), a tendency toward an increase in IL-6 levels (5.4 vs. 4.1 pg / ml, p = 0.051), and no difference in TNF-α levels (3.4 vs. 3.0 pg / ml, p = 0.245) were revealed in patients with anemia compared with patients with normal hemoglobin level. The hemoglobin concentration was negatively correlated with the CRP level (r = –0.327, p = 0.001) and ESR (r = –0.527, p < 0.001). IL-6 was positively correlated with the levels of TNF-a, CRP, and ESR (r = 0.431, r = 0.361, r = 0.369; all p < 0.001). With the IL-6 concentration >10 pg / ml, the odds for anemia were 5.3 times higher (95% confidence interval: 1.4–19.9, p = 0.009).Conclusion. The relationship between the activity of systemic inflammation and anemia in patients with SpA was confirmed. Taking into account the pathogenesis of AI, the aim of antianemic treatment is to achieve remission or minimal activity of SpA. Additional studies are required to determine the effect of anti-inflammatory therapy on the development and course of anemia in patients with SpA.

85. Diagnostic Significance of the Level of Soluble Stimulating Growth Factor in Patients with Spondyloarthritis as an Early Marker of Cardiovascular Pathology

Abstract

Aim to determine the clinical and laboratory relationships of the level of soluble stimulating growth factor expressed by genome 2 (sST2) with indicators characterizing the development of cardiovascular pathology in patients with spondyloarthritis (SPA). Materials and methods. A total of 46 patients aged 39.2 ± 10.2 years with SpA (including 40 (87 %) with ankylosing spondylitis, 6 (13 %) with psoriatic arthritis) were examined. There were 36 (78.3 %) males, 10 (21.7 %) females among the enrolled patients. 27 (84.4 %) of 32 examined patients had HLA-B27. To assess the disease activity the BASDAI and ASDAS scores were used, the erythrocyte sedimentation rate and C-reactive protein values were measured; the levels of tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha), N-terminal fragment of brain natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP), interleukin-6 (IL-6), sST2 in blood serum were evaluated. Traditional cardiovascular risk factors, aortic pulse wave velocity (PWVAo), the results of standard electrocardiography, transthoracic echocardiography, carotid duplex ultrasonography were assessed. Results. The mean sST2 level was 33.34±11.2 ng/ml, an sST2 concentration above the threshold value was found in 19 (41.3 %) patients. No significant relationships between serum sST2 level and disease activity indicators, echocardiographic parameters, rhythm and/or conduction disturbances on electrocardiograms were found. A higher PWVAo was noted in patients with sST2 level above the average (p=0.036); the level of NT-proBNP was more often increased in patients with high levels of sST2 (p=0.085). Higher sST2 concentrations were found in patients treated with biological disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs due to the high disease activity (р=0.039). Conclusion. An increase in sST2 levels was found in 41.3 % of patients with SpA. An increase in serum sST2 concentration is associated with an elevated PWVAo and an increase in the level of NT-proBNP, which may indicate incipient cardiac remodeling, cardiac fibrosis, and the initial stages of the development of heart failure. The new data obtained indicate the advisability of planning and performing larger prospective studies of patients with SpA for the early detection of preclinical signs of damage to the cardiovascular system, cardiac remodeling, and assessment of the effectiveness of therapy.

Abstract

Introduction. The purpose of the research is to evaluate transition resistance modifications of the upper structure track in passing from the ballast to the ballastless track. These modifications effect the rail-to-earth potential difference. Moreover, they refer to the reverse traction system, to the reverse traction current of railway automation devices and to the required level of electrical safety guarantee.Materials and methods. The authors used both the analytical method of the rail-to-earth potential testing and the practical one based on experimental studies of the rail track transition resistance measurements. The authors carried out experiments on the Rozengartovka — Boitsovo — Bikin section of the Far Eastern Railway. This section includes the heavy freight traffic with the increased electric resistance of the track ballast by the upper structure redevelopment.Results. The research defines the main criteria of the rail-to-earth potential considering the 2×25 and 25 kV reverse traction of monophase AC systems with the 50 Hz frequency and depending on the experimental area location in terms of traction substations, on the climate and geological factors and on the freight traffic density.Discussion and conclusion. The obtained results will improve the accuracy of the rail-to-earth potential difference considering not only indicated factors, but also the upper structure type, track features and a feed line scheme for contact wire.

Abstract

Introduction. The rail-to-earth transition resistance is an important parameter of electrified railways, which directly effects the electrical safety level of the traction network and the potential distribution in the upper structure track area. The increased potential adversely effects the operation of the power supply system, the safety of passengers and service staff. Moreover, the mentioned potential leads to the insulation damage of the signaling equipment and to the threat of the train traffic security. The high-speed traffic development in Russia involves the ballastless track usage. The transition resistance of the ballastless track differs from that of a ballast track.Materials and methods. The article considers mathematical model of the ballastless track for determining the rail-toearth transition resistance. The authors presented a description of the method for rail-to-earth transition resistance with a known input resistance of the rail track, determined experimentally.Results. The paper demonstrates relative values of the voltage drop on the the ballastless track structural elements. The obtained data will be used to analyse and calculate the modes of operation of the traction power supply system that occur in the rail track during short circuits in the traction network, and to assess the electromagnetic compatibility of electrical installations.Discussion and conclusion. Obtained results will lead to study the transition resistance of the ballastless track concerning high short-circuit currents drainage from the rails by simulating a short circuit both near the traction substation and away from it.

Abstract

In risk assessment, numerous subfactors influence the probabilities of the main factors. These main factors reflect adverse outcomes, which are essential in risk assessment. A Bayesian network can model the entire set of subfactors and their interconnections. To assess the probabilities of all possible states of the main factors (adverse consequences), complete information about the probabilities of all relevant subfactor states in the network nodes must be utilized. This is a typical task of probabilistic inference. The algorithm proposed by J. Pearl is widely used for point estimates of relevant probabilities. However, in many practical problems, including environmental risk assessment, it is not possible to assign crisp probabilities for relevant events due to the lack of sufficient statistical data. In such situations, expert assignment of probabilities is widely used. Uncertainty in expert assessments can be successfully modeled using triangular fuzzy numbers. That is why this article proposes a fuzzy version of this algorithm, which can solve the problem of probabilistic inference on a Bayesian network when the initial probability values are given as triangular fuzzy numbers. 96. Anemia in Patients with Axial Spondyloarthritis is Not Associated with an Increase of Arterial Stiffness and Intima-Media Thickness (Results of a Single-Center Cross-Sectional Study)

Abstract

Aim: to study parameters of arterial stiffness and subclinical atherosclerosis in patients with axial spondyloarthritis (axSpA) without clinically manifest cardiovascular pathology depending on the presence of anemia.Material and methods. 102 patients with axSpA (mean age – 37.7±9.8 years, axSpA duration – 13.5±8.7 years, 66 (64.7%) men) were included. The BASDAI index and C-reactive protein (CRP)-based ASDAS score were measured, the hemogram, the erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR), and the level of CRP were studied. Parameters of arterial stiffness were studied by oscillography and photoplethysmography, intima-media thickness (IMT) was evaluated by B-mode ultrasound according to standard protocols.Results. During analysis of pulse wave properties, no statistically significant differences in parameters of vascular wall stiffness were found in axSpA patients with and without anemia. Aortic pulse wave velocity (PWVao) in patients with anemia was 7.4±1.5 m/sec, aortic augmentation index (Aix-ao) was 19.1±13.7%, stiffness index (SI) was 8.2±1.7 m/sec; in patients without anemia – 7.4±1.4 m/sec, 17.3±10.6% and 8.8±2.0 m/sec, respectively (p >0.05 for all). IMT in patients with anemia was 0.70±0.13 cm, in patients without anemia – 0.73±0.16 cm (p >0.05). Abstract

Traditional methods for forecasting yield, which rely on human judgment, often fall short of providing accurate and reliable forecasts. The application of artificial intelligence (AI) methods for predicting grain harvest is becoming increasingly relevant to balance performance indicators of companies in the grain-growing industry and forecast future results. It is important to consider the specific operations of companies in the industry and the factors influencing the harvest when using such methods, as these are essential for future decision-making. The main goal of the study is to explore the use of decision analysis methods in forecasting the yield of companies in the grain-growing industry. An analytical study has been conducted on the potential of using AI methods, including the analysis of decision tree-building methods and their application possibilities. In a practical study, a decision tree is constructed using CHAID, and the impact of various factors on decision-making quality in the grain-growing industry is analyzed. Subsequently, neural networks are used to predict potential yield based on the companies' historical data from previous periods.

Abstract

There is a large number and variety of uncertainties that relate to almost all areas of life and the activity of people. Based on numerous literature sources, this article classifies various uncertainties into the following large groups: (1) stochastic uncertainties and (2) numerical uncertainties, including fuzzy and possibilistic ones. The article presents general approaches to assessing uncertainties in each of these groups. In addition, the article presents the main characteristics of general uncertainty estimates and provides an illustrative example.
