Embedded GIS is the basic platform of the remotion geographic information service, and it is one of the critical technologies to accomplish the real time display when the resource of platform is limited. Basing on the contrastingly analyzing of the current display technology of the geographic information, and combining with the demanding of our project, the paper presents a real-time display technology of map which is basing on task scheduling, and realizes the real time display of the images and series-scale vector maps on two kinds of embedded platform whose core is ARM, it costs less than 1 second to browse the maps and it could satisfy the demand of practical application.

We propose to address some fundamental research issues in handling and visualizing massive models, composed of millions of primitives. These include efficient representations, interactive display and real-time interaction. These models arise in many applications, including computer-aided design, simulation-based design, lethality and vulnerability analysis, medical simulation, surgical training and scientific visualization. Our goal is to develop efficient algorithms and systems, and demonstrate their performance on massive environments composed of millions of primitives.

This paper describes a system platform for animated impostors manipulation for real-time display in games design. Our "agent common environment" provides built-in commands for perception and for acting, while the in-between step of reasoning and behavior computation is defined through an external, extendible, and parameterized collection of behavioral plug-ins. Finally we introduce concrete case studies that demonstrate the effectiveness of our approach.

Dynamics of blood flow in vivo vary with cardiovascular disease. To examine dynamics change of blood flow is useful in the prevention of cardiovascular disease. This study is aimed to investigate the common carotid blood velocity (CCBV) in the cardiac patients. It was performed in 14 cardiac patients (mean ± SD age 68.5 ± 8.3) and 8 healthy subjects as control (age 22.8 ± 1.6). The variations of CCBV were measured using a telemetry blood flow velocimeter system in real time display that was completely developed in our laboratory. This measurement system is based on continuous wave (CW) Doppler ultrasound using two transducers which one is for transmitting and the other one is for receiving. In the report, data were measured for 90 seconds at the rest sitting posture with synchronized measurement of electrocardiogram (ECG) signal. Electromechanical delay (Δt) between ECG signal and CCBV were measured from time of R-wave (Tr) to time of the peak systolic blood velocity (T1). The Δt was 0.169 ± 0.008 s in the healthy subjects. While, the Δt was 0.131 ± 0.016 s in the hypertensive. The delay decreased relatively in the hypertensive. It was coincided with decreases of the magnitude of the peak of diastolic velocities. Furthermore, an acceleration index (AI) and a peak systolic velocity (S1) had correlation in the cardiac patient. The value of AI and S1 decreased particularly. The results suggest that the Δt is affected by arterial properties that may be related to arteriosclerosis.

The main disadvantage of free space optical (FSO) systems is the disturbing role played by the atmosphere on light propagation. This paper studies the faculas which is the most intuitionistic way through the atmospheric channel. The faculas reflect the condition of the receiver actually. Because the research of some references mainly From simulation, we know that the turbulence is described by faculas perfectly and fog and rain are described by attenuation.

The superimposing method is described in order to reduce information in hologram. This method improves loss of resolution and increase of the speckle noise due to the information reduction as compared with the sampling method. Experiments are carried out for reconstruction of images from the computer-generated hologram or from the practical hologram. Results show that high-resolution images with low speckle noise are reconstructed from the continuous periodic hologram with reduced information. The image having no parallax is reconstructed on the Fourier transform plane from the hologram with reduced information, if the bandwidth is taken to be smaller than the diameter of observer’s pupil. A time-sharing system is developed in order to display real-time 3D images with full parallax using several Fourier transform holograms with reduced information.

This paper describes the nature and implementation of a specially-designed integrated real-time display that is undergoing evaluation as part of a recently funded innovative pilot project to investigate the relative usefulness of computer displays in the singing studio. Following previous work that suggests that simple displays of a small number of analysis parameters are generally likely to be the most effective, the system makes available a range of complementary analyses that are plotted against time. These relate to: fundamental frequency, spectrum, spectral ratio, and vocal tract area. These can be viewed singly, multiply or in combination using a panel based design within the PC Windows environment, known as WinSingad. The algorithms used are described and the displays themselves are illustrated with results gained from the pilot phase of the research to indicate their potential usefulness.

With the increasing popularity of virtual environment applications there has been much research into algorithms to efficiently display polygonal databases. Most research has been devoted to developing rendering algorithms for the efficient display of databases containing many large geometric structures, such as those describing indoor and urban environments. However, relatively little work has been devoted to the efficient display of databases containing many small geometric structures (such as those describing natural environments). In this paper, we describe the problems with the current rendering algorithms when rendering complex scenes made of many small rendering primitives, and identify an approach that addresses these problems.

This paper presents software implementations of three display processing algorithms on a VLIW multimedia processor core. A combination of algorithm simplifications and software optimizations resulted in a real-time implementation for standard-definition video without compromising picture quality. Experimental results for deinterlacing, sharpness and color control algorithms are shown.

Virtual reality 3D web technology can combine with HTML5 technologies and X3D contents to achieve real-time display without plug-in. X3D strives to become the 3D standard for the web as integrated in the HTML5 standard. HTML5 is able to support X3D format to achieve 3D virtual reality on the web. Blender software can create 3D models and export them to X3D files. X3D files are displayed in real time on web browsers that support HTML5. The X3D files created with Blender software give users excellent 3D real-time interactive operation experience. Therefore, this paper introduces how to achieve 3D virtual reality contents on the web by using X3D files and HTML5 canvas.

Many graphics applications, and interactive systems in particular, rely on hierarchical surface representations to efficiently process very complex models. Considerable attention has been focused on hierarchies of surface approximations and their construction via automatic surface simplification. Such representations have proven effective for adapting the level of detail used in real time display systems. However, other applications such as ray tracing, collision detection, and radiosity benefit from an alternative multiresolution framework: hierarchical partitions of the original surface geometry. We present a new method for representing a hierarchy of regions on a polygonal surface which partition that surface dinto a set of face clusters. These clusters, which are connected sets of faces, represent the aggregate properties of the original surface at different scales rather than providing geometric approximations of varying complexity. We also describe the combination of an effective error metric and a novel algorithm for constructing these hierarchies. Rome Laboratory (RL) OCSM directorate is actively developing a Multisensor Data Fusion Tracking Testbed capability for evaluating, testing, and developing fusion algorithms. This report describes the work performed by CSC Professional Services Group to improve this testbed by extending the innovative work started earlier in support of the testbed by adding the variable configuration capability to the algorithms and data sources. The results of this work have included the following: (1) review, analysis, and update of existing multisensor fusion algorithms for improved performance; (2) upgrade of the sensor fusion functions for testing performance in the testbed, including the real time display; and (3) development of a GUI driven algorithm post test analysis tool.

In particular, it requires actual patients for a realistic learning experience. The quality of colonoscopy training varies, and includes didactic courses and procedures proctored by skilled surgeons. A colonoscopy training model is occasionally used as part of the training method, but the effects are minute due to both the simple and tedious training procedures. To enhance the educational effect of the colonoscopy training model, the Active Colonoscopy Training Model (ACTM) has been developed. ACTM is an interactive colonoscopy training device which can create the environment of a real colonoscopy procedure as closely as possible. It comprises a configurable rubber colon, a human torso, sensors, a display, and the control part. The ACTM provides audio and visual interaction to the trainee by monitoring important factors, such as forces caused by the distal tip and the shaft of the colonoscope and the pressure to open up the lumen and the localization of the distal tip. On the computer screen, the trainee can easily monitor the status of the colonoscopy, which includes the localization of the distal tip, maximum forces, pressure inside the colon, and surgery time. The forces between the rubber colon and the constraints inside the ACTM are measured and the real time display shows the results to the trainee. The pressure sensors will check the pressure at different parts of the colon. The real-time localized distal tip gives the colonoscopy trainee easier and more confident operation without introducing an additional device in the colonoscope. With the current need for colonoscopists and physicians, the ACTM can play an essential role resolving the problems of the current colonoscopy training model, and significantly improve the training quality of the colonoscopy.Keywords: colonoscope, Colonoscopy Training Model, force, pressure measurement, localization

New interventional procedures tend to involve longer screening times than were hitherto used in radiology. A careful audit of technique and shielding facilities needs to be performed to ensure that patient and operator doses are optimised. This paper explores the use of digital dosemeters to evaluate operator dose. Equipment related parameters, e.g. screening time, dose-area-product (DAP) readings, were not found to be strongly correlated to operator dose. The real time display on the electronic dosemeter is a non-intrusive indicator of the efficacy of operator protection strategies.

A large number of antennas and applicators have been designed to "produce therapeutic heating of tumors of different sizes in a variety of anatomic locations. Capacitor plate applicators consisting of a pair of flat-plate electrodes in order to induce heating inside a biolological body, are used in the SHYCADE system (manufactured by BRUKER Company) which is at present tested in LILLE. This system allow the efficient treatment of large deep-seated tumors. The upper electrode is fitted out with a thermostated water bolus which avoid superficial burning of the tissues while allowing a better homogeneity of temperatures in the heated medium. The lower electrode is connected to the ground and covered with a water bolus. The system is monitored by a microwave radiometer operating at 1GHz in order to control the power delivered by a generator at 13.56 MHz (up to 600 watts). The software program gives the real time display of the incident and reflected power, the water temperature of the bolus and the radiometric temperature at 1 GHz. The automatic monitoring of the system is based on this radiometric temperature measurement and, the microwave power heating is adjusted in order to obtain the wanted levels of temperature in depth, taking into account the forehand fixed thresholds of safety (42°C-43°C).

The display of ultrasound images in 3D format enhances the diagnostic usefulness of image data by allowing spatial relationships to be more easily comprehended. Forward-looking intravascular ultrasonic 3D imaging is a modality that may allow intraluminal ultrasonic guidance of intravascular interventional devices. A system that performs the display of this volume data is described.

The tactile array sensor is a key component of the multisensory integration work at the General Robotics and Active Sensory Perception Laboratory (GRASP Lab) at the University of Pennsylvania.

CAI, a Division of RECON/OPTICAL, INC. is currently developing a High-Resolution Display System (HRDS) capable of displaying real-time imagery from the Airborne Minefield Detection and Reconnaissance System (AMIDARS) data stream or a tape unit. This paper provides a system overview, modes of operation, a discussion of the system configuration and current development status.

Honeywell EOD's linescanner has been enhanced for real-time operation by downsizing the AN/AAD-5 and repartitioning the design for adaptability to a variety of applications. The repartitioning effort has developed several new line replaceable units that allow real-time data linking and display of linescanner data. The near real-time E-0 design allows in flight recording and simultaneous downlinking on a video bandwidth data link. A simple, lightweight ground station real-time display has also been developed that can process the data linked imagery. This display will record, display, and process the imagery. This paper will discuss the architec-ture of this downsized E-0 system. The new real-time sensor has been flight tested and a production run for a foreign customer is nearing completion.

Central to any pedagogical nurturing of singing development is the provision of some form of meaningful feedback to the developing singer. Singing teachers draw on their personal experiences within an essentially oral culture where expertise is handed down from teacher to student generation by generation. The teacher is engaged in a psychological translation of the student’s performance, and a dual possibility thereby exists for the misinterpretation of information; the teacher may not describe the student’s performance appropriately and/or the student may not understand how to modify his or her singing behavior as intended. The provision of quantitative visual feedback provides a physical basis for vocal development. A system and method for acquiring ultrasound information at an acquisition rate and displaying at least a portion of the acquired ultrasound information at a display rate that is slower than the acquisition rate is disclosed. Ultrasound information may be continuously acquired and stored at a frame-rate that is greater than the perception rate of the human eye. At least a portion of the acquired ultrasound information is displayed at a frame-rate that allows human perception. Acquisition and display are synchronized from time-to-time upon satisfaction of a synchronization condition. The synchronization condition may be related to a predetermined time interval or a triggering event generated by or through triggering generated by, for example, a physiological event detected in, for example, an ECG trace. Acquired ultrasound information is, thus, displayed in a real-time slow motion manner that maintains real-time synchrony and yet provides a display rate that is lower than the acquisition rate and preferably lower than the maximum perception rate of the human eye.

Hydrodensitometry generally involves up to 10 trials as the subject becomes familiarized with the underwater weighing and breathing apparatus. The final result is usually an average obtained from trials with the highest underwater weights. This study describes a new underwater weighing system based on automated data acquisition and real time display of data during underwater weighing and in-tank residual volume measurement. Results are immediately available after each trial, making possible the use of percent body fat as the criterion for selecting trials for averaging. It is proposed that percent fat is a more logical choice than maximum underwater weight, because for the use of the latter to be valid, true residual volume must be accurately determined. Accuracy of percent body fat requires only that corresponding values of underwater weight and lung volume be known, without the necessity for the weight to be maximum or the volume truly residual. This also reduces the number of trials, which in this study averaged 4.3 +/- 1.0, because each trial was potentially useful regardless of the magnitude of the underwater weight.

An innovative data center responsible for collecting, displaying, and analyzing near real-time meteorological and air quality measurements from a variety of sources was operated in Camarillo, California, during September–October 1985. This data center was part of a multi-million dollar study conducted for the South Central Coast Cooperative Monitoring Program sponsored by the Western Oil and Gas Association, a consortium of petroleum and fuel-producing organizations, to gain a better understanding of air quality conditions in the southern California coastal areas, and to produce a comprehensive data base for which coastal air quality models could be developed and evaluated. Led by the Atmospheric Science Center of SRI International, the program included a large number of contractor organizations responsible for collecting air quality measurements from land, sea, and air instrumentation for future analysis and model development. The data center integrated near real-time air quality and meteorological data with weather services forecasts to develop day-to-day environmental predictions governing the data collection activities.

Methods for determining spectrum areas range in sophistication from the “cutting and weighing” technique to computer analysis. We describe here a simple digital circuit designed for a ratiometric spectrofluorometer which permits the real-time determination and display of spectral areas. This inexpensive circuit facilitates the subtraction of background signal and the calculation of relative quantum yields. A brief study concerning the quenching of fluorescein emission upon binding to antifluorescein IgG antibody demonstrates the utility of the system.

This paper reviews the currently available instrumentation used for gait studies and discusses the clinical suitability of the various methods of recording gait parameters. Most of the presently available motion analysis systems appear to be more suited to research than to the routine clinical situation. However the video vector visualization technique appears to be the most useful clinically since it produces a real time display, is simple to operate and interpretation of the data is easier than other systems available. Some further development of the video vector visualization system is necessary to improve its accuracy and to produce quantitative information.

Gigacycle correlator involving sampling oscilloscopes for real time display of correlation functions over adjustable time interval, discussing design and performance

The Weather Information System and Real-time Display (WISARD) software package is a general purpose interactive weather information retrieval system. It was initially developed to support the research and academic needs within the Department of Atmospheric Sciences of the University of North Dakota (UND). Because of the ease of use of the system and the availability of a college-wide computer network, the WISARD package is currently in use by all faculty, staff and students of the College of Aerospace Sciences at UND.

An isokinetic analysis system was developed by interfacing an Akron isokinetic dynamometer to a microcomputer. The system was designed for real-time display of the muscular torque output in order to provide immediate visual feedback of the muscular performance. The muscular torque data were filtered for the effect of gravitational forces. The angular velocity of movement was monitored and only constant velocity data were used for analysis. Standard testing protocols for the assessment of muscle function in dynamic conditions have been implemented in the system.

CRT devices, both for photorecording and real time display applications, can be improved in certain of their characteristics by utilizing a number of electron beams simultaneously modulated in the tube. A plurality of beams, when properly generated, focused and deflected, will display information with writing speed, video band-width and brightness generally improved by a factor related to the number of beams used.

A new technique has been developed whereby the outputs from a towed Side Looking Sonar can be presented as a real time display in a standard television format. The system uses a video disc recorder and short-term storage registers to scan convert the sonar data. The sonar data is obtained at a low frequency and is changed to a rate suitable for television. The television picture displays a view of the ocean bottom, in a "moving window" format. The result is a flicker-free, moving display of the sonar data.

In spelling out the requirements for real time display for airborne and space vehicles, it is normally necessary to employ recorded data obtained previously in flight. This may take the form of aerial photographs, radar photographs, IR photographs, moving pictures or video tapes taken by airborne systems. Generation of real time imagery for use in simulators is a complex and costly process. Further, the use of recorded data results in greater flexibility in variations of the data processing and display sub-system. A shortening of the response time of a field-effect device in which liquid Crystals with a positive dielectric anisotropy were used and operated in the tunable birefringence mode has been achieved. This technique has been applied to a 40 × 40 matrix display operated in a 3:1 selection scheme; a real time display with buildup and decay lags of 5 and 20 ms, respectively, and with contrast ratios of 5:1-30:1 has been realized.
