The present article represents a psychoanalytic reading not only of Ingmar Bergman's film The Hour of the Wolf/ Vargtimmen (1968), but also of Bergman's personal hour of the wolf, related to an inner pain, to an atmospheric silence and to the irreducible scar of anxiety. On the other hand, the article presents the expressionistic influences of the German school on the creation of the Swedish director, regarding the terror of the artist, the adventure of light and whiteness, the somnambulism, the soul and its double - the shadow, and so on. The nightmare of the main character Johan Borg starts with his visit to the von Merkens family: the members of this strange family can represent projections of his own psychotic reactions - cannibals, ghosts, vampires, living dead, parasites, spiders. In this context, the bed where Johan meets his "perfect" lover, Veronica Vogler, integrates a binary topos of agony and raw sexuality, a pietà and also a lying-in state of the corpse which allows the ovation and the consumption of the breath of the deceased by the participants. The impossibility of comprehension concerns not only the subject's relation to the other, but it also extends between the subject and his past. Just like Freud's navel of the dream, in Mohssen Makhmalbaf's film A Moment of Innocence (1996) the unravelling of the characters' lives and the spinning of their phantasmatic perspectives start from the same point of radical lack of sense. The movie's play between reality and fiction renders possible a shift from the violence of the past intrusion of real into the subject's life to the temporized acknowledgement of the inconsistencies in his own discourse. While the term 'real' world implies reality as a set of data objectively given beyond any individual evaluation, the term 'virtual' is seen as a projection of human presence in a computer-generated space. The aim of this analysis is to consider virtual communication as a new form of communication practice through the analysis of the communication of the players in the computer simulation of the Second Life. This video game offers online simulations with computer representations of people who communicate through multimedia, organize their other life just the same as they do in everyday life, associate into new virtual communities and inspired by real characters create identities within alternative avatars. Thus, the virtual world acquires a meaning that has a certain historical and cultural weight in real life. The real life complements the virtual, and the virtual, crossing the boundaries of its space, connects itself with the real world. Second Life shows how the virtual world grows into a media spectacle, which results in images, representations, fictions becoming reality in computer simulation. Thus, the conclusion can be drawn that virtual communication moves the boundaries of the social and technical, the private and the public, the virtual and the real. Frequently the boundaries of these worlds in the relationship between the real and the virtual are being blurred, which leads to noise in communication and alienation of people. When unfulfilled wishes from the real world seem to come true in the 'second life', the player's departure to the virtual world becomes a daily preoccupation, and the virtual replaces the real.

This article presents the possibility of convergence between Saussure and Pêcheux regarding the work with meaning, based on two theoretical categories: the Saussurian notion of value, intrinsically linked to the systemic view of langage, and the Lacanian notion of the real, fundamentally understood as that which resists symbolization. It summarizes aspects of the article The Coat of Arlequim: a reflection on the semantics proposed by Michel Pêcheux (2005) related to the notion of value and it shows that the distance disclosed between these two authors denies what brings them together in dealing with language: the poetry as its reverse. RESUMO Este artigo examina o caráter simbólico da nova moeda brasileira, o Real, cujo nome sugere sua ambição de não apenas representar um valor, mas ser a própria realidade. Além disso, a utilização de imagens naturais, em vez de históricas, no carimbo das novas notas indica o desejo de dar o caráter de realidade à moeda lançada em 1994, enquanto mostra a inflação como produto de uma imaginação desordenada. Portanto, a nova representação simbólica da moeda combina muito bem com o discurso político que sustenta o real.

Abstract In this article, we will work on the articulation between the psychoanalytical act and the experience with the sensitive in an analysis. For this, we will initially approach the logical operations of causation of the subject in order to understand what being we are talking about when we maintain that the psychoanalytic act gives rise to the certainty of existing. Then we will unfold the experience of the sensitive from the notion of a living body, voice and resonance of the real. In the end, we understand that the analysis calls us to sustain a sensitivity beyond reason, one that consents to the resonance of the real and opens us to the power of life, of the act.

It is here a question of approaching the issues raised by the transmission of psychoanalysis via the presentation of clinical situations. Beyond the possible theoretical compilation, there’s no transmission without considering a profound contradiction between what the presentation of a clinical case aims at and its analytical purpose. A return to the history of the clinic with Foucault and Freud, and taking into account Lacan’s contribution on the real as that which does not stop not being written, allows us to approach these issues. The article presents the use of the REAL repository as a text corpus of modern Hungarian-language content, which is jointly implemented by the Library and Information Centre of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (MTA KIK) and the Hungarian Research Centre for Linguistics (NYTK), in the framework of the National Programme of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences "Science for the Hungarian language". The sub-programme "Digital support of the Hungarian language in the service of Hungarian science" will be completed in 2026 and is based on the teaching and application of the neural network-based language technology tool developed by the NYTK. REAL is one of the most important Hungarian scientific repositories, organised into eight collections with more than 210,000 items, the vast majority of which are freely downloadable. Nearly half a million downloads are made from the repository every month. The new project will attempt to use part of the textual content as a corpus of texts. To do this, we need to get to know our own collection better than ever before, to assess its data content and to examine the quality of the documents and their descriptive data. We must then seek to improve and complete the descriptive data before using language technology tools. As a result of this project, it is hoped that the repository data can be further improved. Part of the project involves mining the corpus of texts: we will identify the basic bibliographic information in the texts and use it both to enrich the description of the original documents and to supplement other databases (Hungarian Science Bibliography, MTMT). The central question with regard to Nicholas Sparks’s The Notebook is whether it is a novel of love or romance. Novels of love and romances are not the same. In romance novels, the character description is not limited. They can be described as common people with ordinary jobs or they can be socialites with extravagant profession.But the characters in love stories must be as real as possible. They cannot be luxurious people with extravagant jobs. A novel cannot be considered as a romance if there is no happy ending. But there is no clear explanation to what kind of ending a love story has to have. According to Sparks’s views on characteristics of romance and love, he considers The Notebook as a novel of love. Even though, as readers, we respect the author’s interpretation, the characters of his novel have typical romance characteristics, and it is likely that it was marketed as a romance novel because of the second cover of the novel. The article aims to incite reflections on the function of fantasy in psychoanalysis based on Lacan's contact with the work of the artist René Magritte, and specifically with the painting "La condition humaine" (1933). It analyzes some aspects of the functioning of fantasy as the subject's reality and, above all, as the "human condition" related to an avoidance of contact with "the window to the real," in relation to the lack of ultimate object for drive satisfaction, to the inconsistency of the Other and to fundamental helplessness. To this end, the dilemmas of the subjective relation with the object a and with das Ding are examined, investigating the ambiguous functioning of fantasy and its possible understanding as a work of art for the subject's internal use. From the series Event of the Night in 1972 to Neige in 2003, via Gouttes d'eau (1979-2013), the painter Kim Tschang Yeul has developed a poetics of formlessness in which negation, emptiness and absence direct the creative process. The Korean plastic artist offers through the materiality of the work a meditation on the fluence of worlds and forms. The drop of water expresses the precariousness of things, but also evokes a beyond of representation whose richness is as great as its restraint. Water is the metaphor of the void without which the full cannot unfold; it introduces the practice of non-action, which does not consist in doing nothing but in letting the supporting factors at work in the form happen. Barrel shifter architecture is well known for bit manipulation in a single clock cycle. Due to its various operations and advantages, it is most likely used in the Arithmetic logic unit of every processor. Gray code is also known as reflective code which is widely used in digital communication for the purpose of error correction and error detection. In this project, an 8 x 4 barrel shifter is designed which is further connected to 4-bit binary to gray code converter. The barrel shifter is cascaded with binary to gray code converter so that this combination can be useful for the application of encryption of binary data in digital communications. It is designed in cadence virtuoso tool using FinFET technology at 18 nm node. The simulation results proves that the power consumed by the proposed design with FinFET technology is 11.92% less when compared with the conventional design with MOS transistors. Hence, this design can be used in application of low power digital communications. The functionality testing and verification is done using cadence virtuoso tool. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper investigated the operations of Lacan's Real, Symbolic, and Imaginary orders in the Sophoclean bildungsroman novel Kafka on the Shore by Haruki Murakami. It utilized Lacanian psychoanalysis to analyze the novel's literary elements--the plot, the theme, and the character's actions and motivations. This paper explored the characters' actions and unconscious desires, the themes of incest, rape, murder, and abandonment, and the author's use of magic realism to explain how they all fit into Lacan's psychoanalytic framework. Estimating depth from images is a common technique in 3D perception. However, dealing with non-Lambertian materials, e.g., transparent or specular, is still nowadays an open challenge. However, to overcome this challenge with deep stereo matching networks or monocular depth estimation, data sets with non-Lambertian objects are mandatory. Currently, only few real-world data sets are available. This is due to the high effort and time-consuming process of generating these data sets with ground truth. Currently, transparent objects must be prepared, e.g., painted or powdered, or an opaque twin of the non-Lambertian object is needed. This makes data acquisition very time consuming and elaborate. We present a new measurement principle for how to generate a real data set of transparent and specular surfaces without object preparation techniques, which greatly reduces the effort and time required for data collection. For this purpose, we use a thermal 3D sensor as a reference system, which allows the 3D detection of transparent and reflective surfaces without object preparation. In addition, we publish the first-ever real stereo data set, called TranSpec3D, where ground truth disparities without object preparation were generated using this measurement principle. The data set contains 110 objects and consists of 148 scenes, each taken in different lighting environments, which increases the size of the data set and creates different reflections on the surface. We also show the advantages and disadvantages of our measurement principle and data set compared to the Booster data set (generated with object preparation), as well as the current limitations of our novel method.

Este artigo se insere em um debate atual acerca das políticas conceituais do campo lacaniano. Ele procura explorar um dos traços distintivos desse debate: a crítica à progressiva tematização da insuficiência da linguagem e à substancialização dos conceitos psicanalíticos no movimento lacaniano, identificada no trabalho de alguns psicanalistas. Este trabalho, por sua vez, apontaria para outra leitura do texto lacaniano, vetorizada por um horizonte ético-epistemológico distinto, marcadamente antisubstancialista. Destacaremos nisso o lugar de uma política dos usos de três conceitos fundamentais a esse campo: real, gozo e corpo. A partir das articulações propostas, procuraremos apresentar o substancialismo como um obstáculo em potencial para a psicanálise lacaniana, além de explorar algumas de suas possíveis implicações éticas, clínicas e epistemológicas.

En este artículo se expondrá en primer lugar la crítica de Badiou sobre el sujeto humanista y su propio concepto de sujeto, un sujeto que está claramente inspirado en Lacan pero que va más allá de la subjetivación de la falta de este. Luego me dirigiré al colega de Badiou en el campo antihumanista, Slavoj Žižek, y su crítica lacaniana de Badiou. Se afirmará que es su interpretación diferente del Real lacaniano lo que explica la disputa subyacente entre ellos. Mientras que el sujeto de Žižek es infundado, por otro lado, la concepción de Badiou de forzar lo Real confiere al sujeto un grado de consistencia que facilita la articulación de proyectos políticos específicos.

Female leader affects earnings management and the quality of the financial report. This study wants to investigate the effect of female leaders on real earnings management. We use the nine chief positions with a female presence as a leader. The data were obtained from Indonesia's public listed company on the S&P Global Market Intelligence database from 2012-2020. For real earnings management measures, we used data two years earlier. The data sample selected was 3.420 firm-year observations. The sample was separated into 12 classifications, according to IDX Industrial Classifications. Female leader positions as chief executive, chief accounting, and chief administration negatively affect real earnings management. While female leader positions as chief technology and chief marketing have a positive effect on real earnings management. We find that industrial has a different effect on real earnings management. Many studies are predicting female chief leaders and real earnings management. The most significant finding is female roles as finance managers. However, no research predicts real earning management using female leaders in various chief positions.

Tomando como brújula a Desmedida y como ruta la ruta luso-angolana Ruy Duarte de Carvalho, este artículo discute y problematiza la búsqueda de un origen y un sentido para el sertão en la producción simbólica brasileña. A partir de los relatos de los primeros viajeros que llegaron al país, a través de textos de investigadores, historiadores o escritores, el sertão se describe como una inmensidad vacía para ser explorada y sorteada por las palabras, escenario de múltiples figuraciones, transgresiones y subversiones del lenguaje. Desmedida funciona como un disparador de sentido y un hilo conductor del camino emprendido en este trabajo: uno que apunta al sertão como un exceso de vacío - o falta de medida, límite y frontera- ya en la estructura de los significantes seleccionados para nombrar eso. Al cruzar las obras de Euclides da Cunha y Guimarães Rosa, Ruy Duarte de Carvalho presenta dos formas diferentes de tratar con lo real del sertão y con la imposibilidad de narrarlo. La torsión de textos, tiempos y existencias emprendida por Carvalho se lee desde el punto de inflexión en los modos de subjetivación del sujeto y del lenguaje y sus efectos sobre los conceptos de ficción y representación en la llegada de la modernidad, identificados por el filósofo Jacques Rancière. Para investigar los conceptos de real y vacío se utilizaron como referentes teóricos artículos de Raúl Antelo y Jacques Lacan.

Lessing's short novel The Memoirs of a Survivor encapsulates all the dominant narrative, political, and philosophical preoccupations of its prolific author. Straddling the genres of socio-realistic dystopia and post-apocalyptic fantasy, it self-consciously reflects on many questions relevant to contemporary readers. Drawing on the main premises of postmodern poetics, particularly on its ontological concerns, and on more recent theories about new 'critical dystopias' in literature, this article points to the multi-layered utopian aspects present at different levels of the text. Moreover, applying philosophical and sociological concepts of Jean Baudrillard to the interpretation of Lessing's symbolic and narrative strategies, such as his notion of the alienation of death in capitalist society, the article shows how this novel can be read not only as a critique of materialist culture and a study of deprivation and isolation with serious psychological and civilizational consequences, but also as a hopeful play with ontological borders implied in the imaginative rethinking of our private and shared realities. Social media platforms have made it possible for people and organizations to disseminate information to their peers and target markets. Even while most information is shared with the best of intentions, some people utilize social media to further their own agendas. They might publish untrue or inaccurate information in their posts. Before, during, and after disasters and emergencies, social media is rife with rumors, misinformation, and misleading information. These false rumors and information could also make individuals anxious. How to stop the spread of this incorrect information is one of the main problems that public safety authorities and organizations face. DIVVA is a system that, using some provided input text data, evaluates and validates disaster-related information. The system has two tracks: a validation track and a verification track. Verification will classify the textual input into categories related to disasters or not related to disasters. The Validation track, on the other hand, will use the official handles of government disaster relief organizations like the NDRF (National Disaster Response Force) to determine whether the event mentioned in the text data actually happened or not before classifying the disaster-related data as real or fake. Therefore, if many individuals receive erroneous information about a calamity, we can utilize our approach to determine if the information is true or false. Our results show that the Bidirectional LSTM model performs well for the tweet classification (i.e. whether the tweets are related to disaster or not) task with 84% accuracy. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This is an expository paper mainly based on certain works due to the author himself. After some introductory sections, we discuss the transformation of vector valued stem functions, defined on sets in the complex plane into quaternionic and Cliffordian valued function, using functional calculi, algebraically or derived via a Cauchy type kernel. Then we consider large families of quaternionic and Cliffordian linear operators, regarded as special classes of real linear operators, extended via a complexification procedure, and thus having the spectrum in the complex plane, which permits the construction of functional calculi with adequate analytic functions, in a classical manner, recaptured by restriction. Technology has brought about important changes in the forms of daily life, cultural contexts and social relations. The concepts of real, truth and lie that exist in the interaction of cultural contexts and social relations in daily life have also been affected by these changes. Especially in recent academic researches, the concept of post-truth is at the center of these changes. However, post-truth has been introduced in a way that is immanent in politics. Therefore, the normative side of the concept has caused the social relations dimension to be ignored. The aim of this study is to reveal the normativity of the concept of post-truth by channeling it into the dimension of social relations with its political context. It is impossible to think of cinema separately from the existing social conditions. In line with the aforementioned purpose, the movie Family Romance, LLC, written and directed by Werner Herzog, whose cinematic style is to bring fiction and reality closer together, has been examined. In this study, descriptive analysis technique was used. The study is important in terms of emphasizing the normativity of the concept of post-truth, deals with the the social context of cinema through the form-content relationship, and reveals the usability of the concept of post-truth as a criterion in making sense of cinema in the field of art. This short essay is a reflective piece attempting to understand the cultural nuances of Indian society, which shapes the consciousness of Indian men and women. While Indian society worships the 'Devi,' it does not treat women with the respect they deserve. Also, women sometimes do not deserve that admiration. This article explores the role of photography in the assassination of the Russian Ambassador to Turkey in 2016. The photography exhibition titled Russia through Turkish Eyes was the background for the assassination. The author argues that photography occupies a paradoxical position of a metalanguage of an event that it simultaneously announces, records, destroys and celebrates while assuming the role of an impartial observer. Photography operates as a counter-factual, exceeding the documentary, and assuming the function not of a witness but of an active participant. The author suggests that in a primitive culture like ours, some objects acquire the status of a portal that facilitates the transformation between symbolic, imaginary and real forms of existence. A camera is one such object. The article concludes that the assassination of the Russian Ambassador cannot be easily separated from the photographic event that preceded it, accompanied it and immortalized it. O desdobramento dos estudos psicanalíticos em educação e formação é parasitado de tempos em tempos por consignas supostamente psicanalíticas. Nos dias de hoje constata-se a proliferação de referências ao termo real bastantes imprecisas com relação ao uso que Lacan fez do mesmo. O artigo visa esclarecer de forma propedêutica o uso do termo real no pensamento lacaniano no contexto preciso de uma operação singular de subversão do pensamento metafísico. O autor sustenta que o real lacaniano se inscreve no “retorno a Freud” de forma tal que ele constitui tanto a precipitação de uma diferença quanto o estabelecimento de uma continuidade com o pensamento freudiano. O texto objetiva assim o desafio de fazer avançar os estudos no campo, em particular a pergunta do que se transmite na experiência educativa, sobre outras bases que não sejam a repetição ecolálica de certas ideias pouco claras e precisas dos clássicos do pensamento psicanalítico.
