For the overall safety evaluation of the tension leg platform (TLP) system, the structural strength reliability analysis is essential. The strength reliability of a typical TLP exposed to combined static and extreme wave loads is the subject of this study. A three-dimensional finite element shell model made up of a pontoon, column, and deck that is assumed to be accurate and efficient with tendon system as the boundary conditions was built using a concrete TLP. By employing the proportional loading method based on the design wave method, failure mechanisms for the platform and were determined. The failure mechanisms were then used to derive limit state expressions. The system reliability indexes of the object platform were calculated using the system reliability assessment framework created by the system reliability model suggested in this paper. This work seeks to advance the application of reliability theory in offshore engineering.

Abstract This study presents a nitrogen-doped microporous carbon nanospheres (N@MCNs) prepared by a facile polymerization–carbonization process using low-cost styrene. The N element in situ introduces polystyrene (PS) nanospheres via emulsion polymerization of styrene with cyanuric chloride as crosslinking agent, and then carbonization obtains N@MCNs. The as-prepared carbon nanospheres possess the complete spherical structure and adjustable nitrogen amount by controlling the relative proportion of tetrachloromethane and cyanuric chloride. The friction performance of N@MCNs as lubricating oil additives was surveyed utilizing the friction experiment of ball-disc structure. The results showed that N@MCNs exhibit superb reduction performance of friction and wear. When the addition of N@MCNs was 0.06 wt%, the friction coefficient of PAO-10 decreased from 0.188 to 0.105, and the wear volume reduced by 94.4%. The width and depth of wear marks of N@MCNs decreased by 49.2% and 94.5%, respectively. The carrying capacity of load was rocketed from 100 to 400 N concurrently. Through the analysis of the lubrication mechanism, the result manifested that the prepared N@MCNs enter clearance of the friction pair, transform the sliding friction into the mixed friction of sliding and rolling, and repair the contact surface through the repair effect. Furthermore, the tribochemical reaction between nanoparticles and friction pairs forms a protective film containing nitride and metal oxides, which can avert direct contact with the matrix and improve the tribological properties. This experiment showed that nitrogen-doped polystyrene-based carbon nanospheres prepared by in-situ doping are the promising materials for wear resistance and reducing friction. This preparing method can be ulteriorly expanded to multi-element co-permeable materials. Nitrogen and boron co-doped carbon nanospheres (B,N@MCNs) were prepared by mixed carbonization of N-enriched PS and boric acid, and exhibited high load carrying capacity and good tribological properties.

Health Canada approved pembrolizumab in the first-line setting for advanced non-small-cell lung cancer with PD-L1 ≥ 50% and no EGFR/ALK aberration. The keynote 024 trial showed 55% of such patients progress with pembrolizumab monotherapy. We propose that the combination of baseline CT and clinical factors can help identify those patients who may progress. In 138 eligible patients from our institution, we retrospectively collected their baseline variables, including baseline CT findings (primary lung tumor size and metastatic site), smoking pack years, performance status, tumor pathology, and demographics. The treatment response was assessed via RECIST 1.1 using the baseline and first follow-up CT. Associations between the baseline variables and progressive disease (PD) were tested by logistic regression analyses. The results showed 46/138 patients had PD. The baseline CT “number of involved organs” by metastasis and smoking pack years were independently associated with PD (p < 0.05), and the ROC analysis showed a good performance of the model that integrated these variables in predicting PD (AUC: 0.79). This pilot study suggests that the combination of baseline CT disease and smoking PY can identify who may progress on pembrolizumab monotherapy and can potentially facilitate decision-making for the optimal first-line treatment in the high PD-L1 cohort.

Anthraquinone is a redox mediator that can effectively catalyze the degradation of azo dyes by promoting the electron transfer. In this study, a mediator membrane with poly (vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) as the membrane support and 1,8-dichloroanthraquinone (1,8-AQ) and graphene oxide (GO) as the additives was prepared and characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), mercury intrusion porosimetry (MIP), atomic force microscopy (AFM) and water contact angle. The introduction of GO increases the pure water flux of the membrane to 258.56±12.93 L/(m2·h). Its catalytic performances for the biodegradation of azo dyes were evaluated. Under the optimized conditions, the 1,8-AQ/GO/PVDF composite membrane is able to improve the dye degradation efficiency 2.2 times for reactive red X-3B and 1.1 times for acid red B, as compared with PVDF membrane. In addition, the mediator membrane maintains stable and high catalytic efficiency in the cyclic test and over 90 % dye degradation efficiency is still obtained after 5 cycles of decolorization. These results suggest the great application potentials of the 1,8-AQ/GO/PVDF membrane in the dye wastewater treatment.

ABSTRACTPolydnaviruses (PDVs), obligatory symbionts with parasitoid wasps, function as host immune suppressors and growth and development regulator. PDVs can induce host haemocyte apoptosis, but the underlying mechanism remains largely unknown. Here, we provided evidence that, during the early stages of parasitism, the activated Cotesia vestalis bracovirus (CvBV) reduced the overall number of host haemocytes by inducing apoptosis. We found that one haemocyte-highly expressed CvBV gene, CvBV-26-4, could induce haemocyte apoptosis. Further analyses showed that CvBV-26-4 has four homologs from other Cotesia bracoviruses and BV from wasps in the genus Glyptapanteles, and all four of them possessed a similar structure containing 3 copies of a well-conserved motif (Gly-Tyr-Pro-Tyr, GYPY). Mass spectrometry analysis revealed that CvBV-26-4 was secreted into plasma by haemocytes and then degraded into peptides that induced the apoptosis of haemocytes. Moreover, ectopic expression of CvBV-26-4 caused fly haemocyte apoptosis and increased the susceptibility of flies to bacteria. Based on this research, a new family of bracovirus genes, Bracovirus apoptosis-inducing proteins (BAPs), was proposed. Furthermore, it was discovered that the development of wasp larvae was affected when the function of CvBV BAP was obstructed in the parasitized hosts. The results of our study indicate that the BAP gene family from the bracoviruses group is crucial for immunosuppression during the early stages of parasitism.

The heterogeneous catalytic activation of peroxymonosulfate (PMS) for wastewater treatment is attracting increased research interest. Therefore, it is essential to find a sustainable, economical, and effective activated material for wastewater treatment. In this study, metal–organic framework (MOF)-5 was used as the precursor, and a stable and recyclable material ZnO@Ni3ZnC0.7 that exhibited good adsorption and catalytic properties, was obtained by the addition of nickel and subsequent calcination. To investigate and optimize the practical application conditions, the elimination of rhodamine B (RhB) in water was selected as the model process. This study demonstrated that the degradation of organic matter in the system involved a coupling of the adsorption and degradation processes. Based on this, the mechanism of the entire process was proposed. The results of scanning electron microscopy, infrared spectrum analysis, and theoretical analysis confirmed that the van der Waals forces, electrostatic attraction, and hydrogen bonding influenced the adsorption process. Electron paramagnetic resonance analysis, masking experiments, and electrochemical tests conducted during the oxidative degradation process confirmed that the degradation mechanism of RhB included both radical and non-free radical pathways, and that the surface hydroxyl group was the key active site. The degradation of the adsorbed substrates enabled the regeneration of the active sites. The material regenerated using a simple method exhibited good efficiency for the removal of organic compounds in four-cycle tests. Moreover, this material can effectively remove a variety of organic pollutants, and can be easily recovered owing to its magnetic properties. The results demonstrated that the use of heterogeneous catalytic materials with good adsorption capacity could be an economical and beneficial strategy.

Abstract Objective For patients with diabetes, high-frequency and -amplitude glycemic variability may be more harmful than continuous hyperglycemia; however, there is still a lack of screening indicators that can quickly and easily assess the level of glycemic variability. The aim of this study was to investigate whether the glycemic dispersion index is effective for screening high glycemic variability. Methods A total of 170 diabetes patients hospitalized in the Sixth Affiliated Hospital of Kunming Medical University were included in this study. After admission, the fasting plasma glucose, 2-hour postprandial plasma glucose, and glycosylated hemoglobin A1c were measured. The peripheral capillary blood glucose was measured seven times in 24 h, before and after each of three meals and before bedtime. The standard deviation of the seven peripheral blood glucose values was calculated, and a standard deviation of > 2.0 was used as the threshold of high glycemic variability. The glycemic dispersion index was calculated and its diagnostic efficacy for high glycemic variability was determined by the Mann–Whitney U test, receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve and, Pearson correlation analysis. Abstract Objective Recent studies indicated that transmembrane protein 40 (TMEM40) is associated with several types of cancers but is not clear in cervical cancer (CC). The study aimed to examine the role of TMEM40 in CC and related mechanisms. Methods The expression of TMEM40 in CC tissues and cell lines was studied with western blot and real-time quantitative RT-PCR. The effect of TMEM40 on proliferation was evaluated by CCK-8, EdU and colony formation assay. The migration, invasion, cell cycle and apoptosis of CC cells were studied with wound healing, transwell assays and flow cytometry. Tumor growth was evaluated in vivo using a xenogenous subcutaneously implant model. Results The results revealed that the TMEM40 elevation in CC tissues and cell lines was closely correlated with tumor size and lymph node metastasis in clinical patients. Upregulation of TMEM40 with OE-TMEM40 vector promoted the invasion, migration and proliferation, inhibited the apoptosis and led to distinct S cell cycle arrest in CC cell lines. Silencing TMEM40 with shRNA inhibited the invasion, migration and proliferation, promoted apoptosis and led to a G0/G1 cell cycle arrest in CC cell lines. Silence of TMEM40 downregulated the expression of c-MYC, Cyclin D1, matrix metalloproteinase-1 (MMP-1) and matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9), but in contrast, activated p53 and several apoptosis related proteins such as p53, Caspase-3, Caspase-9 and PARP1. In addition, TMEM40 silencing dramatically decreased tumor growth in mice models. Conclusion The present study demonstrates that TMEM40 upregulation can be a potential prognostic biomarker and contribute to CC development.

Phosphoenolpyruvate carboxykinase 1 (Pck1) is an enzyme involved in glucose production that also regulates lipogenesis and has been linked to liver steatosis. Here the authors report that deficiency of Pck1 in the liver leads to nonalcoholic fatty liver disease via activation of the RhoA/PI3K/AKT pathway in a study with male mice.

This study focused on the “Xinlu” walnut and explored the molecular regulatory mechanism of lignin synthesis in the endocarp, aiming to explain the formation of bared-nut walnuts through morphological, metabolomic, and transcriptomic techniques. It was found that the synthesis of lignin, cellulose, p-coumaryl alcohol, and sinapyl alcohol was severely inhibited in the pulpy-hue (PUH) of the endocarp. We obtained 14 modules (gene sets) significantly correlated with the lignification factor (LIG) and 1548 hub genes. Additionally, we identified a MEplum3 module involved in endocarp lignin synthesis, primarily participating in phenylalanine biosynthesis and the lignin biosynthetic process. Meanwhile, we constructed a gene co-expression network for the MEplum3 module and identified a key hub gene for lignin synthesis—JrCAD10. Among the different tissues of “Xinlu”, the expression level of JrCAD10 in the scleritic-hue (SCH) was significantly higher than in other tissues, with a relative copy number (RCN) of 3.2. However, JrCAD10 expression was severely suppressed in the PUH. The suppression of JrCAD10 expression led to the inhibition of lignin monomer synthesis, which further resulted in inhibited lignin synthesis, thus forming the bared-nut walnut. Our findings provide new insights into understanding the regulation of lignin synthesis and offer a possible explanation for the formation of bared-nut walnuts.

Compared with the traditional vaccine produced in embryonated chicken eggs, cell-based manufacturing represented by the Madin–Darby canine kidney (MDCK) cell line has a larger production scale and reduces the risk of egg shortage in a pandemic. Establishing a culture system that enables high production of the influenza virus is a key issue in influenza vaccine production. Here, a serum-free suspension culture of MDCK (sMDCK) cells was obtained from adherent MDCK (aMDCK) cells by direct adaptation. Viral infection experiments showed that viral yields of influenza A/B virus in sMDCK cells were higher than in aMDCK cells. Transcriptome analysis revealed that numerous interferon-stimulated genes (ISGs) exhibited reduced expression in sMDCK cells. To further clarify the mechanism of high viral production in sMDCK cells, we demonstrated the antiviral role of RIG-I and IFIT3 in MDCK cells by knockdown and overexpression experiments. Furthermore, suppression of the JAK/STAT pathway enhances the viral accumulation in aMDCK cells instead of sMDCK cells, suggesting the reduction in the JAK/STAT pathway and ISGs promotes viral replication in sMDCK cells. Taken together, we elucidate the relationship between the host innate immune response and the high viral productive property of sMDCK cells, which helps optimize cell production processes and supports the production of cell-based influenza vaccines.

Objective: To investigate the feasibility and effectiveness of hydrogen in the treatment of retinitis pigmentosa (RP) patients through the drinking of hydrogen-rich water (HRW). Methods: RP patients clinically diagnosed in our hospital were selected and given HRW for drinking at 400–500 ml twice a day for four consecutive weeks. Changes in best corrected visual acuity (BCVA), intraocular pressure, the retinal thickness, and choroidal thickness, as well as the amplitude and peak time of visual electrophysiological examinations before and after HRW drinking were observed. Data were statistically analyzed. Results: In total, 24 eyes of 13 patients with RP (3 males and 10 females aged–27-65 years old, were enrolled in the study. The BCVA after HRW drinking was 0.34 ± 0.25, which was statistically improved compared with that before (P 0.05). The amplitudes of the b-wave in Dark-adaptation 0.01 response, a and b waves in Dark-adaptation 3.0 response, the Dark-adaptation Ops total wave, a and b waves in Light-adaptation 3.0 response, and the Light-adaptation Flicker response of electroretinogram (ERG) were significantly higher than those before HRW drinking (all P 0.05), while the data from the 15′ PVEP were statistically different (P 0.05). Conclusion: Short-term HRW drinking slightly improved visual function in patients with primary RP, whereas no significant improvement was found in the thickness of the retina and choroid.

Abstract Tribochemistry can be defined as a field dealing with the chemical reactions occurring in the friction zone, capable of catalyzing mechanical and physico-chemical changes in the friction contact area, facilitating the formation of tribo-films, which is also an efficient approach to fabricate novel innovative materials. In this paper, we report the successful synthesis of the silicon oil (SO)-functionalized covalent organic frameworks (COFs) prepared via the tribochemical method when subjected to the reciprocating friction; during the friction process, the rich aldehyde-terminated COFs can bond with amino SO via the Schiff base reaction between aldehyde group and amino group to obtain the desired functionalized COFs (SO@COF-LZU1). The tribochemical reaction progress was tracked through in-situ monitoring of the friction coefficient and the operating conditions during the entire friction process. Noticeably, the friction coefficient continued to decrease until it finally stabilized as the reaction progressed, which revealed the formation of a protective tribo-film. Herein, an approximate tribochemical model was presented, wherein the reaction mechanism was investigated and analyzed by employing structural analysis techniques like magic angle spinning nuclear magnetic resonance (MAS NMR), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). Furthermore, the tribochemical-induced SO@COF-LZU1 exhibited remarkable tribological performance with a low friction coefficient of 0.1 and 95.5% reduction in wear volume when used as additives of 500SN base oil. The prime focus of our research was on the preparation and functionalization of COF materials via tribochemical reactions, unraveling a new avenue for the rational design and preparation of functional materials.

Abstract The severe damage and impacts caused by extreme events in a changing climate will not only make the sustainable development goals difficult to achieve, but also erode the hard-won development gains of the past. This article reviews the major impacts and challenges of disaster and climate change risks on sustainable development, and summarizes the courses and linkages of disaster risk reduction (DRR), climate change adaptation (CCA), and sustainable development over the past 30 years. Our findings show that the conceptual development of DRR actions has gone through three general phases: disaster management in the 1990s, risk management in the 2000s, and resilient management and development in the 2010s. Gradually, CCA has been widely implemented to overcome the adverse effects of climate change. A framework is proposed for tackling climate change and disaster risks in the context of resilient, sustainable development, indicating that CCA is not a subset of DRR while they have similarities and differences in their scope and emphasis. It is crucial to transform governance mechanisms at different levels, so as to integrate CCA and DRR to reduce disaster and climate change risks, and achieve safe growth and a resilient future in the era of the Anthropocene.

Abstract To investigate the prevalence and influencing factors of Demodex folliculorum (DF) in the eyelashes of healthy young males. An epidemiological cross-sectional prevalence study was conducted. We conducted visual acuity, eye-related examination, eyelash microscopic examination and DF count of recruits in Fujian Province in 2019. The presence of DF was analyzed according to age, keratorefractive surgery, annual household income, educational level, long-term residence, sleep time, time of using electronic products, smoking and drinking habit. A total of 2253 healthy young males (aged 17–24 years) were studied for the presence of DF within eyelash follicles. The total prevalence of DF was 20.73% in our study. Subjects with history of keratorefractive surgery had a statistically significant increase in the prevalence of DF (P 0.05). According to the multivariate logistic regression analysis, the history of keratorefractive surgery was the risk factors of DF infection (P 0.05). The prevalence of DF in eyelash follicles in healthy young males was relatively high. The history of keratorefractive surgery was an important risk factor for the infection.

Abstract In this article we propose that all countries that are striving to become a Weather-Ready Nation (WRN) would benefit greatly from including El Niño-Southern Oscillation (ENSO)-related research findings into their decision-making processes, not only when an El Niño or a La Niña forecast has been issued quasi-periodically. For an aspiring WRN, to benefit from ENSO information, such as disruptive or beneficial changes that could be foreseeably expected to occur in seasonal flow and in sub-seasonal hydrometeorological anomalies, requires its continuous mainstreaming about the status of the ENSO process into a WRN’s decision-making activities. The ENSO process provides a bridge between sub-seasonal weather anomalies and a sub-decadal climate phenomenon as well as a bridge between coping with weather extremes today and preparing for climate change-related hydrometeorological hazards in the future. ENSO extremes every few years provide a chance to evaluate a nation’s strategic and tactical responses to hydrometeorological hazard forecasts and disasters. Each successive ENSO extreme and its Neutral phase tests previously designed best practices. Involvement of today’s youth and young professionals on climate, water, and weather issues has been increasing and will do so in coming decades. Shifting awareness and attention to ENSO and away from ENSO extremes is crucial. The heightened urgency for understanding the full ENSO “cycle” especially by youth and young professionals today is because they will soon be in professional positions that enable them to advise decision makers about climate policy issues. Their understanding of the ENSO cycle is critically needed, as global warming is expected to continue to increase for the rest of the twenty-first century.

Salinity threatens soybean germination, growth and production. The germination stage is a key period in the life of soybean. Wild soybean contains many genes related to stress resistance that are valuable resources for the genetic improvement of soybean. To identify the genetic loci of wild soybean that are active during seed germination under salt stress, two populations, a soybean interspecific hybrid population comprising 142 lines and a natural population comprising 121 wild soybean accessions, were screened for three germination-related traits in this study. AIM: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of trabeculectomy at the inferior limbus for patients of intraocular pressure(IOP)after failed glaucoma filtration.METHODS: A retrospective analysis was conducted to identify 51 glaucoma patients with 61 eyes that had undergone trabeculectomy at the inferior limbus for patients of IOP after failed glaucoma filtration. The preoperative and postoperative IOP, visual acuity and number of IOP-lowering drugs, as well as intraoperative and postoperative complications were extracted. Surgical success rates were calculated using Kaplan-Meier survival analysis.RESULTS: The postoperative follow-up time ranged from 6-76(mean 30.15±14.10)mo. The preoperative IOP of 61 eyes was 35.98±10.01mmHg, the IOP after the surgery at 1wk, 1, 3, 6mo, 1a and the IOP of last follow-up visit were 9.62±4.90, 13.15±4.51, 16.05±7.37, 16.48±6.81, 16.68±6.42, 16.77±7.56 mmHg respectively, all of these were different compared to the preoperative IOP(P

Aquaculture equipment is moving from offshore areas to the deep sea to obtain a cleaner farming environment, but will suffer from a worse marine environment. Truss-type aquaculture floating platforms have gradually gained the favor of deep-sea and ocean aquaculture due to being resistant to corrosion, lightweight, easy to move, having modular assembly characteristics, and so on. Here, a modular aquaculture floating platform that is mainly composed of high-density polyethylene non-metallic pipes as a floating body, a truss structure support and a single-point mooring system is designed. The three-dimensional potential flow theory and Morison equation are applied to the motion and force prediction of discontinuous and open structures, and an evaluation method for analyzing the hydrodynamic performance of the platform system is proposed. Then, a sensitivity analysis of the dynamic response is conducted on the density and length of the bottom floating pipe arrangement of the truss-type aquaculture floating platform. The results show that the pitch motion of the heading direction and the roll motion of the beam direction have a remarkable effect on the hydrodynamics of the truss-type aquaculture floating platform, and the maximum amplitude is 12.9 deg and 10.8 deg, respectively. The effective tension under the heading direction is greater than that under the Beam direction. And the sparser the arrangement of the floating pipe is and the longer the length of the floating pipe is, the more improved the hydrodynamic performance of the floating platform will be, but the effective tension is greatly affected by the wavelength and period, so it is necessary to design the appropriate floating pipe length according to the actual marine environment. This study could provide an engineering reference for the design, analysis, and application of an aquaculture floating platform.

In the solar wind, the fluctuation of heavy ion abundance serves as a crucial physical metric. This not only mirrors the attributes of the solar wind’s originating solar region but also signifies its influence on Earth’s magnetosphere. Utilizing data from the Advanced Composition Explorer satellite, this investigation scrutinizes heavy ion variations in stream interaction region (SIR)- and interplanetary coronal mass ejection (ICME)-driven shocks. We further delineate the disparities in heavy ion fluctuations between these two types of interplanetary shocks across diverse solar activity cycles. Our findings reveal that ICME-driven shocks typically manifest elevated shock velocities and magnetic field strengths relative to their SIR-driven counterparts. Additionally, heavy ion abundance ratios, such as C ^6+ /O ^4+ , O ^7+ /O ^6+ , He/O, Si/O, and Fe/O, are consistently higher in ICME-driven shocks than in SIR-driven shocks. During varying solar activity cycles, these ratios surge postarrival of ICME-driven shocks. At solar maximum, these elevated ratios persist, whereas they revert to baseline levels swiftly during solar minimum. For SIR-driven shocks, the alteration in heavy ion abundance ratios is comparatively subdued, yet a noteworthy correlation with the solar activity cycle is evident.

We conducted a Ka -band (26.1–35 GHz) line survey toward Orion KL using the TianMa 65 m Radio Telescope (TMRT). It is the first blind line survey in the Ka band and achieves a sensitivity at the mK level (1–3 mK at a spectral resolution of ∼1 km s ^−1 ). In total, 592 Gaussian features are extracted. Among them, 257 radio recombination lines (RRLs) are identified. The maximum Δ n of RRLs of H, He, and C are 20, 15, and 5, respectively. Through stacking, we have detected the β lines of ion RRLs (RRLs of C ^+ with the possible contribution of other ions like O ^+ ) for the first time, and a tentative signal of the γ lines of ion RRLs can also be seen on the stacked spectrum. Besides this, 318 other line features were assigned to 37 molecular species, and 10 of these species were not detected in the Q -band survey of TMRT. The vibrationally excited states of nine species were also detected. The emission of most species can be modeled under LTE. A number of transitions of E-CH3OH ( J _2 − J _1 ) display maser effects, which are confirmed by our modeling, and besides the bumping peak at J ∼ 6, there is another peak at J ∼ 13. Methylcyanoacetylene (CH _3 C _3 N) is detected in Orion KL for the first time. This work emphasizes that the Ka band, which was long ignored for spectral line surveys, is very useful for surveying RRLs and molecular lines simultaneously.

Abstract Background A One Health approach has been increasingly mainstreamed by the international community, as it provides for holistic thinking in recognizing the close links and inter-dependence of the health of humans, animals and the environment. However, the dearth of real-world evidence has hampered application of a One Health approach in shaping policies and practice. This study proposes the development of a potential evaluation tool for One Health performance, in order to contribute to the scientific measurement of One Health approach and the identification of gaps where One Health capacity building is most urgently needed. Methods We describe five steps towards a global One Health index (GOHI), including (i) framework formulation; (ii) indicator selection; (iii) database building; (iv) weight determination; and (v) GOHI scores calculation. A cell-like framework for GOHI is proposed, which comprises an external drivers index (EDI), an intrinsic drivers index (IDI) and a core drivers index (CDI). We construct the indicator scheme for GOHI based on this framework after multiple rounds of panel discussions with our expert advisory committee. A fuzzy analytical hierarchy process is adopted to determine the weights for each of the indicators. Results The weighted indicator scheme of GOHI comprises three first-level indicators, 13 second-level indicators, and 57 third-level indicators. According to the pilot analysis based on the data from more than 200 countries/territories the GOHI scores overall are far from ideal (the highest score of 65.0 out of a maximum score of 100), and we found considerable variations among different countries/territories (31.8–65.0). The results from the pilot analysis are consistent with the results from a literature review, which suggests that a GOHI as a potential tool for the assessment of One Health performance might be feasible. Conclusions GOHI—subject to rigorous validation—would represent the world’s first evaluation tool that constructs the conceptual framework from a holistic perspective of One Health. Future application of GOHI might promote a common understanding of a strong One Health approach and provide reference for promoting effective measures to strengthen One Health capacity building. With further adaptations under various scenarios, GOHI, along with its technical protocols and databases, will be updated regularly to address current technical limitations, and capture new knowledge. Crustal growth is closely associated with the oceanic subduction process, although the precise mechanism involved remains poorly constrained. Northeast (NE) China is an important component of the largest accretive orogenic belt worldwide – Central Asian orogenic belt. Its accretionary process was dominated by the Paleo-Asian and Paleo-Pacific Oceans; thus, NE China can provide a promising insight to explore this complex mechanism. We report new geochronological, geochemical and Hf isotopic compositions of the igneous rocks found in the Central Jilin Province, NE China. The geochronological results reveal that these igneous rocks were formed during 174.7 − 167.7 Ma (i.e. Early−Middle Jurassic). The quartz diorite and monzogranites from the northeastern margin of the North China Craton have high Sr (314 − 757 ppm) content, (La/Yb)N (7.11 − 29.9) and Sr/Y (41.50 − 157) ratios, low Y (2.03 − 12.97 ppm) and Yb (0.30 − 1.34 ppm) contents, exhibiting adakitic features. Coupling with their significant negative εHf(t) values (−32.51 to − 5.45), we propose that these igneous rocks were originated from the partial melting of an ancient thickened lower crust. In contrary, the syenogranite, granite porphyry, and porphyritic monzogranite from the Zhangguangcai and Jiamusi blocks are characterized by high K calc-alkaline, low MgO (0.03 − 0.88 wt.%), Zr + Nb + Ce + Y (141 − 462 ppm) contents and Sr/Y (0.93 − 17.40) ratios, indicating an affinity of I−type granite. In view of their positive εHf(t) values (5.41 to 9.47), we suggest that they were originated from the partial melting of a juvenile lower mafic crust. Despite they have different magma sources, all the Jurassic igneous rocks exhibit typical geochemical signatures associated with subduction, such as enriched in large ion lithophile elements and depleted in high field strength elements. Considering the spatial-temporal distribution of coeval igneous rocks within the region, we propose that the Early Jurassic is the early subduction of the Paleo-Pacific Ocean. The Jurassic igneous rocks can be divided into two categories, one with high Sr/Y ratios and negative Hf isotope, and the others with low Sr/Y ratios and positive Hf isotope, which may indicate that crustal architecture in subduction zone has a significant effect on continental crustal growth and reworking in NE China.
