Despite the available knowledge on erosion of cultivated lands, there are situations of soil use and management that need more detailed studies. Based on that, this research work was accomplished with the objective of evaluating soil erosion by rainfall from an area of native pasture cropped with corn (Zea mays L.), under reduced-tillage and no-tillage, and mineral (chemical fertilizer containing N and P) and organic (poultry litter) fertilization. The study was developed in the field, at the Agriculture Experimental Station of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (EEA/UFRGS), RS, Brazil, in the summer of 2006/2007, by applying simulated rainfall on an Ultisol having sandy loam texture in the surface layer and 0.13 m m-1 average slope steepness. Two erosion tests in the research, were performed, each one of them at the constant 64.0 mm h-1 rainfall intensity and for 1.5 h duration, by using the rotating boom rainfall simulator. The first test was performed soon after treatments establishment, at corn seeding, and the second one 75 days later, at corn tasseling. Soil and plant attributes were evaluated in the experimental plots and those of water erosion in the surface runoff. It was observed that the crop growth and the erosion losses were influenced by the studied treatments. Corn grew better in reduced-tillage, regardless of fertilization type. Soil loss occurred only in reduced-tillage and in the first erosion test, in very small amount, regardless of the fertilization type. Water, organic matter, and nutrients losses occurred in all treatments and erosion tests, in variable amounts, generally being higher in no-tillage and in the first erosion test. The pH of the runoff varied little and no trends in treatments and erosion tests were observed, whereas electric conductivity and mean concentrations of organic matter and nutrients varied widely and clear trends could be observed. This latter aspect repeated with the accumulated total amounts of organic matter and nutrients lost by erosion. The highest accumulated total amounts of nutrients lost by erosion were observed for K in both organic and mineral fertilization, for P in mineral fertilization, and for N in both organic and mineral fertilization, in this decreasing order of values and all under no-tillage. Accumulated total amounts of nutrients lost by erosion lower than the ones just mentioned, but still significant, were observed for K in practically all other treatments and for N under reduced-tillage with organic fertilization.

coastal tableland ,tabuleiros costeiros ,TDR probe ,green dwarf coconut ,coqueiro-anão-verde ,TDR - Abstract
The origin of tableland soils is related to sandloam and loam sediments of the Tertiary Barreira group. Generally they are sandy with poor contents of nutrients and organic matter. They are also typically kaolinitic and characterized by hard cohesive layers (hardsetting soils) normally located at a depth between 20 and 60 cm. Since the soil density of the hardsetting layers is high and because they are near the surface, they remarkably modify the soil water movement and affect plant development and yields. This study aimed to assess the effect of different irrigation water levels on the water movement and distribution in a Kandic Ustult hardsetting soil of coastal tablelands of Brazil and their influence on the yield of green dwarf coconut. Three levels of irrigation water were investigated: 50, 100 and 150 L d-1 in a completely randomized design with six replications and one tree per plot. The bunch and fruit number per tree versus the coconut water volume were also studied based on the same experimental design, but with four replications and nine trees per plot. The soil moisture was monitored by TDR probes, based on weekly readings of sensors at depths of 0.15, 0.30, 0.60, 0.90, and 1.20 m. It was concluded that application of 100 and 150 L d-1 water resulted in a reduction of the density of the hard layer, unlike when a supply of 50 L d-1. The mean fruit yield per tree and the coconut water volume per fruit were the highest at 150 L d-1 irrigation. However, none of the treatments caused an inflection on the response curve of the yield variables, which increased with the tested water supply levels.

Conservação do solo ,Erosao hidrica ,Deterioracao do solo ,Fisica do solo - Abstract
The man-induced or acelerated erosion constitutes the most extensive and worrying form of soil degradation. By this process, the soil can be removed from its original place in amounts really large in a period of time infinitesimally small, compared to the time needed for its reposition by natural means. With that in mind, this research work was accomplished with the objective of restoring the structure of a degraded soil and, later, verifying its relation with rainfall erosion. The study was developed at the EEA/UFRGS, in Eldorado do Sul, Rio Grande do Sul State, Brazil, from May, 2004 to December, 2007, using artificial rain and a sandy clay loam Ultisol with 0.115 m m-1 average slope steepness. Treatments consisted of no-till planted, grass and legume, Fall- Winter and Spring-Summer seasoned crop sequences, singly and intermixed cropped, which, after 3.5 years of being established, were tested against rainfall erosion in the following, instantaneous physical conditions of the soil surface: non-mobilized and freshly-mobilized soil, presence and absence of crust, and none, small, and full coverage by crop residues. Rains were applied with the rotating-boom rainfall simulator, at 64.0 mm h-1 constant, rainfall intensity and with 1 to 3 hours duration each. Plant, soil, and erosion parameters were evaluated and both individually and in the inter-related form analized, using variance and regression statistical analysis. It was observed that about 50% of the examined situations turned out estatistically significant and 50% nonsignificant, with the responses in each one of them, however, having occurred within and way off the expected behavior. Therefore, occasionally statistical differences between crop sequences were found in relation to both production of aboveground and underground biomass and values of the soil management and water erosion variables measured in each one of them, but, without regularity with respect to the order of the occurrence of significances, either in the evaluation dates and soil layers or in the erosion tests, with the water erosion variables being affected much more by these latter than by the crop sequences. Nevertheless, it was possible to verify that the crop sequence with teosinte, followed by the ones with corn+cowpea and pearl millet, were in general the ones that better restored the soil structure and more reduced erosion, even though all the crop sequences were able and relatively fast in recomposing the soil. In addition, the amount of underground biomass or plant roots, the soil macroporosity, the mean weight diameter of water-stable soil aggregates, and the percentage of stability in water of the soil aggregates larger than 0.5 mm, showed to be generally promising soil quality indicators for the purposes of water infiltration and rainfall erosion reduction.

Quando a salinização ocorre em subsuperfície às observações visuais e diagnose de folhas torna-se insuficiente para a classificação etnopedológica de áreas com problemas de sais The identification and characterization studies of salinized areas can be developed using participatory methodologies for the construction of ethnopedological knowledge. The current research was developed in the Irrigated District of Baixo Açu, municipality of Alto do Rodrigues and Chapada do Apodi RN. Seven soil profiles were characterized by researchers (ethicist approach) and farmers (emicist approach), being identified as: P1 (area cultivated with bananas), P2 (fallow area) and P3 (area of native forest), in Irrigated District of Baixo Açu and four P1 (area cultivated with passion fruit), P2 (area of preserved forest), P3 (area cultivated with red rice) and P4 (area of native forest), in Chapada do Apodi RN. Deformed samples in the horizons, morphological, physical and chemical analysis were collected, according to classical methods. Attribute data were expressed as the average of three replications per horizon to determine the chemical analysis of saturation extract, sorting complex and soil granulometry. Afterwards, the data were submitted to multivariate analysis. Profile P1 was classified as CAMBISSOLO HÁPLICO Carbonático Solódico, P2 CAMBISSOLO HÁPLICO Ta Eutrófico Típico and P3 CHERNOSSOLO RÊNDZICO Órtico Saprolítico in Irrigated District of Baixo Açu and four soil profiles P1 and P2 were classified as LATOSSOLO VERMELHO AMARELO Eutrófico típico, P3 as VERTISSOLO HÁPLICO Sódico salino and P4 as VERTISSOLO HÁPLICO Órtico típico. Profiles P1 and P2 were considered sodium saline, P3 non-saline and Regarding the chemical attributes, there was an alkaline reaction in profiles P1, P2 and P3 and moderate acidity in P4. In the emic approach, the producers in their field of knowledge identified the studied areas with salt problems, through the precipitation of salts on the surface, change in leaf color and incidence of plants indicating saline areas. The perception of the producers regarding the accumulation of clay in the subsurface was called salão. The carbonate horizon was called larjão. P1 was classified as Terra de Salitre, P2 as Terra de Piçarro, and P3 Terra Boa without the presence of saltpeter. The classification carried out by farmers, compared with the classification of Sistema Brasileiro de Classificação de Solos, may present characteristics that are equivalent in terms of both classifications. The sand fraction was predominant in P1 and P2, being classified as sandy, associated with loose earth, without alloy, and P3 and P4 as alluvium, with the presence of cracks, being identified as Terra de Barro Preto com Salitre P3 and Terra de Barro Preto sem Salitre P4. Farmers perceive salinization of cultivated areas through visual observations regarding the diagnosis of leaves and precipitation of salt crystals on the surface. When salinization occurs in the subsurface, visual observations and leaf diagnosis are insufficient for the ethnopedological classification of areas with salt problems

The current interest in studying soil macroarthropods comes from the need for sustainable use of the environment and its capacity to act as indicators of soil quality, they are influenced by soil attributes and these by agro-ecosystems, studying their interrelationships. subsidies for the proper planning of agricultural activities and conservation of the productive capacity of the soil. The study aimed to evaluate the relationships between soil macroarthropods and physical, structural and chemical attributes in agroecosystems, in agroecosystems. The research was carried out in the Piracicaba community, municipality of Upanema-RN, considering four agroecosystems: native forest / Latosol (reference area), corn and bean consortium area / Cambisolo, pasture area / Argisol and cashew area / Latosol. Deformed and deformed samples were collected, in layers 0.0-0.10, 0.10-0.20 and 0.20-0.30 (m), to carry out the analysis of the physical, chemical and structural attributes of the soil. Macroarthropods were collected by installing provid-type fall traps, installed in the dry and rainy periods, and subsequently identified, accounted for and classified in taxonomic order. The results were interpreted using multivariate analysis techniques as the main tool, to determine the most sensitive attributes in distinguishing environments. The soil attributes showed variability in the uses and classes of soils, being the variables microporosity, field capacity, permanent wilt point, available water, sand, clay, degree of flocculation, Ca2 +, Mg2 +, sum of bases, soil density , total porosity, macroporosity, electrical conductivity and total organic carbon are the most sensitive in distinguishing environments. The retention of water in the soil varied among the studied agroecosystems, with the areas of native forest and intercropping area corn and beans presenting higher water content in the soil than the other areas. The greater supply of total organic carbon favors the structuring of the soil and greater water retention, especially in soils with a sandy texture. For the macroarthropods, the most abundant orders were: Hymenoptera, Coleoptera, Orthoptera, Diptera, Araneae, Hemíptera and Scutigeromorpha, in less expressive values, organisms of the orders Blatodeae, Scorpiones, Lepdoptera larva, Leptdoptera, Odonata, Chodopoda, Phasmatmat, Phasmatmat, Thysanoptera and Ixodida. The abundance and diversity of soil macroarthropods were influenced by climatic seasonality, with greater abundance in the dry period, and greater diversity in the rainy season. The corn and bean consortium area showed the highest rates of Shanon diversity and Pielou equitability, in the rainy season, the cashew area, in the dry season. The macroarthropod communities found in agroecosystems were influenced by the physical, chemical and structural attributes of the soil, and this existing correlation is evidenced with the use of principal component analysis, where the attributes macroporosity, total organic carbon, microporosity, soil density, texture (sand , silt and clay), Ca² +, K + and cation exchange capacity were the most influential.

Conclui-se que em função das práticas de manejo adotadas pelos agricultores (as), bem como, do material de origem dos solos houve a diferenciação das áreas Studies on productive backyards arise from the need to develop technologies and research adapted to field conditions to achieve an agriculture based on the rational use of alternative sources of natural resources, and presenting potentials from the social and environmental point of view. Thus, it was identified the need for more complete studies, which not only characterize these spaces as the species found, but contribute to their validation as beneficial or not in the promotion of healthy eating habits, as well as to the quality of managed soils. . From this perspective, this study aimed to verify the effects of productive backyards on the promotion of healthy eating habits, as well as to characterize the physical-chemical attributes of the soil according to the management practices adopted in the productive backyards of the Santa Elza Settlement Project, Rio Great North, northeastern semiarid. In order to verify if they contribute to the healthy eating of families in the study area, interviews were conducted in August and September 2018, focusing on the identification of farmers' socioeconomic profiles, characterization of the backyards as to their diversity. , survey of its importance and the consumption of the obtained foods. After obtaining the data, they were read and analyzed using the Content Analysis technique and then the information was processed to obtain the basic descriptive statistics. In order to verify the effects of soil management practices in turn, three (3) productive backyards of the settlement were selected and a control area and subsequent soil collection for analysis of physical and chemical attributes. The analysis data were submitted to multivariate statistical techniques, such as: correlation matrix, cluster analysis and factor analysis with extraction of factors in principal components. Regarding the results obtained, it was found that in all families of the settlement there were species of plants and animals conducted in the form of productive backyards, destined mostly for selfconsumption and surplus for sale. Regarding the multivariate techniques applied to verify the effects of management practices on soil physicochemical attributes and to distinguish the areas of the backyards studied according to this management, it was observed that significant correlations were found in the correlation matrix between attributes of the analyzed soils, when considering the joint analysis of the productive backyard areas and the studied control area. There was the formation of distinct groupings for the attributes, highlighting four groups of variables, as well as the formation of distinct groupings for the studied areas. The pH, EC, Mn and Zn, Na +, PST, sand, DP, PT, N, CTC, M.O, P, K, silt and Fe were the most sensitive soil properties for the distinction of areas. It can be concluded that, due to the management practices adopted by the farmers, as well as the soil source material, the areas were differentiated

No entanto, por área de preservação permanente, as áreas do IBAMA, da lagoa e preservação permanente em recuperação não podem ser exploradas economicamente Soil is one of the main natural resources used on agricultural practices; however, the process on its exploration may make it drainable, which requires determining the correct usage and management of this soil that can only be found by understanding of various attributes involved, through a physical survey. Thus, this study proposes to make a soil survey on Moacir Lucena Settlement Project in Apodi city, with its morphological and physicochemical characterization, along with the capacity classification of land use comparing to the current use. The Moacir Lucena Settlement Project is situated in Chapada do Apodi,RN, and it was subdivided in seven representative areas for this study: Profile 1 (IBAMA recovering area), Profile 2 (Pond area), Profile 3 (Permanent preservation area or IBAMA area), Profile 4 (Agroecological management area), Profile 5 (Collective planting area), Profile 6 (Cashew tree collective area) and Profile 7 (Cashew tree collective area 2). Deformed and non-deformed soil samples were collected on the horizon of those profiles and were made physical analysis (granulometry, clay dispersed in water, silt/clay ratio, soil density, particle density, total porosity, flocculation degree), chemical analysis (pH, electrical conductivity, total organic carbon, Ca+2, Mg+2, K+, Na+, P, Al3+, sum of bases, cation exchange capacity, bases saturation percentage, saturation by aluminum, total sodium percentage), infiltration test with ring infiltrometer, soil mechanical resistance to penetration and classification of land use capacity. The results were analyzed by submitting them to the multivariate statistical techniques, by means of correlation matrix, cluster analysis and factor analysis with the factor extraction in the main components. The soils were classified as follows: Profile 1 (RED-YELLOW LATOSOL Argisolic Eutrophic); Profile 2 (HAPLIC CAMBISOL Typical carbonate); Profile 3 (YELLOW LATOSOL Argisolic Eutrophic); Profile 4 (YELLOW ARGISOL Typical Eutrophic); Profile 5 (HAPLIC CAMBISOL Tb Typical Eutrophic); Profile 6 (YELLOW LATOSOL Argisolic Eutrophic) and Profile 7 (YELLOW LATOSOL Argisolic Eutrophic). In general, the soils are poorly weathered, with physical limits regarding the effective depth and soil mechanic resistance to penetration. The Basic Infiltration Rate calculated has varied as medium to the Argisol (Profile 4), high to Latosol (Profile 1), very high to the other profiles (Cambisol (Profile 2), Cambisol (Profile 5), Latosol (Profiles 7, 3 and 6). A variation has occurred on the soil mechanical resistance to penetration, between 1332 and 6769 kPa, and its classification from low to very high, showing variability to different depths, soil classes and use. The settlement presents use intensity considered as under capacity, the area in recovering belongs to the Group B, improper lands for intense cultivation, but yet adapted to reforestation and wildlife, and Class VI, adapted lands in the settlement, reforestation area for preservation with simple problems of conservation and only cultivable in special cases of permanent protective cultures of soil, the Pond area in Group C, which are not suitable lands for annual cultivation, perennial, pasture and reforestation, however they are suitable for fauna and flora protection, recreation or water storage, mainly in rainy season, and Class VIII, are not suitable for culture, pasture or reforestation, that can be used only as shelter and fauna and flora protection, as a recreation environment or water storage purpose, the collective use area and cashew tree areas belonging to Group A, with can be used for annual cultures, perennial, pasture, and/or reforestation and wildlife, and Class II, cultivable lands, with simple problems of conservation and/or improvement maintenance. However, as Permanent Preservation Area, IBAMA areas, Pond area and Permanent Preservation in recovering cannot be economically explored

As classes de solos encontradas foram: Cambissolo Háplico Carbonático vertissólico (P1 – AMN1), Cambissolo Háplico Carbonático típico (P2 – ColMN e P3 – AGRO), Cambissolo Háplico Ta Eutrófico típico (P6 – AColP2, P7 – AMN2 e P10 - ACAJA), Cambissolo Háplico Ta Eutrófico vertissólico (P9 – AMN3), Argissolo Vermelho Distrófico latossólico (P4 – ACAJU), Chernossolo Rêndzico Órtico saprolítico (P5 – AcolP1) e Neossolo Flúvico Ta Eutrófico típico (P8 – APP). The use of land according to its suitability is the basic principle of soil and water conservation. Based on this, the general objective of this work was to characterize, classify and evaluate the agricultural aptitude of soils in the Chapada do Apodi, RN, indicating the limiting factors and potentialities, in order to seek agri-environmental planning. The research was carried out in the Terra de Esperança Settlement Project, located in the municipality of Governador Dix-Sept Rosado in Rio Grande do Norte, where ten sites were chosen to open the profiles of representative soils, such as: Native Forest Areas 1, 2 e 3 (NFA1 – P1, NFA2 – P7 e NFA3 – P9), Collective Area with Native Forest (CNF – P2), Agroecological area (AEA – P3), Cashew crop Area (CCA – P4), Collective Area with Pasture 1 e 2 (CAP1 – P5 e CAP2 – P6), Permanent preservation area (PPA – P8) e Cajaraneira (Spondia sp.) Orchard Area (COA – P10). A survey was made of the physical environment, covering the study area, including environmental factors such as soil, climate, relief, vegetation and hydrology. Ten soil profiles, morphological description, deformed and undisturbed samples for physical and structural analyzes and soil chemistry, geo - referenced pedological classification, as well as infiltration field tests and soil mechanical resistance to penetration were performed. The data of the attributes were expressed by the average of three replicates per horizon, and subjected to multivariate statistical analysis to detect the most sensitive attributes in the environments. The classes of soils found were: Cambissolo Háplico Carbonático vertissólico (P1 – NFA1), Cambissolo Háplico Carbonático típico (P2 – CNF and P3 – AEA), Cambissolo Háplico Ta Eutrófico típico (P6 – CAP2, P7 – NFA2 e P10 - COA), Cambissolo Háplico Ta Eutrófico vertissólico (P9 – NFA3), Argissolo Vermelho Distrófico latossólico (P4 – CCA), Chernossolo Rêndzico Órtico saprolítico (P5 – CAP1) and Neossolo Flúvico Ta Eutrófico típico (P8 – PPA). The Argissolo (P4 - CCA) was the only one to present acid character, aluminum saturation and low saturation by bases, dystrophic and low cation exchange capacity, forming horizons with chemical limitations, due to the latossolic character. The most sensitive attributes in the soil class distinction are related to the source material, which directly influenced the physical (silt and clay) and chemical (acidity, salinity, nutrient availability and clay fraction) physical characteristics of soils. The physical and structural attributes of Cambissolos Háplicos were generally preserved in relation to the current condition of the native forest, even under different uses and management of the soil, although the soils under use in the native forest areas 1, Conventional and Agroecological naturally denote fragility in aggregate stability and flocculation degree, due to the predominance of the sand fraction. The evaluation of agricultural aptitude revealed that the lands of the Terra da Esperança Settlement Project have a high agricultural potential, favored mainly by the good soil and relief conditions, differing only in the management level A (primitive) and the Cambissolo Háplico in the area of the P1 (NFA1), as regular. The main limitations are related to phosphorus fixation, water deficiency and impedance to mechanization in terms of effective soil depth. However, the replicates in the areas of P2 (CNF) and P10 (COA) were the ones that had the least limitations on their agricultural use (tillage). As there is also indication for less intensive activity, like natural pasturage for the Chernossolo Rêndzico (P5 – CAP1) and Cambissolo Háplico (P6 – CAP2); with the Neossolo Flúvico (P8) as an area for the preservation of flora and fauna, due to legislative restriction, being a permanent preservation area defined by INCRA

Latossolo Vermelho-amarelo, destacaram-se: (H+Al) e Al3+, e os Cambissolos Háplicos e Neossolo Flúvico, são: pH, K+, P, COT, Ca2+, SB e T The soil structure from the point of view of physics is a dynamic attribute, influenced by genetic conditions and anthropic changes that require an integrated approach. The retention curve is one of the main tools used for this purpose. In this sense, the objective of this work was to evaluate structural relationships in soil classes, associated to the chemical attributes in agroecosystems in the Terra de Esperança Land Settlement Project in Governador Dix Sept Rosado-RN aiming at distinguishing the environments. Deformed and undisturbed samplings were collected in 10 profiles, in their respective horizons, which classes of soils involved: Haplustepts, Eutrustox, Calciustolls, Usticfluvents. The analysis consisted of physical attributes, including granulometry, Ds, PT det and aeration, macroporosity and microporosity, CC, PMP, AD, and consequently the water retention curve in soil and chemicals, being CE, pH, and the macronutrients (P, K+, Na+, Ca2+, Mg2+) and (H+Al), PST and TOC. The results were expressed by the average of four replicates per horizon, in the respective classes for the analyzed attributes, through the multivariate analysis. It was the main tool used to detect the most sensitive attributes in the environment distinction. Physicochemical attributes of the different soil classes were determinant in distinguishing the environments, their local characteristics and particularities, as well as the inorganic fractions, in particular silt and clay, reflecting in microporosity, aeration porosity and water available. In the class of Calciustolls, the origin material influenced in the physical and chemical attributes in function of the predominance of the silt fraction, whereas, the clay was determinant for classes of Haplustepts and Usticfluvents, as for the sand fraction in surface and clay in the horizon (Bw) for the Eutrustox. Regarding the expressiveness of the grouped physical attributes, Ds, CC, AD, PMP, U, θ, P, aeration and macroporosity stood out. For the most sensitive chemical attributes in the differentiation are included the Calciustolls with the variables: PST, Na+ and CE. Eutrustox with (H+Al) and Al3, and Haplustepts and Usticfluvents: : pH, K+, P, COT, Ca2+, SB and T

For understanding the most appropriate management, it is necessary to reseach the types of soil that a region has. In this way, constant appraisement of soil attributes is necessary so that the various agricultural uses are analyzed and established in the most appropriate way. The state of Rio Grande do Norte has one of the largest productions of fruits, vegetables and grains of the northeast region, part of this production is located in the Agropólo Mossoró-Assu, inserted in the region of the state of Rio Grande do Norte, where the most prevailing soils are occurs such as Cambissolo (Inceptisol), Neossolo (Entisol) and Latossolo (Oxisol). The aim of this work was to characterize the representative soils of the Agropólo Mossoró-Assu region and to define the agricultural aptitude of such areas, as well as to understand the genesis of the soils that represent the area. Morphological, physical, chemical and mineralogical analyzes of the representative profiles that compose Agropólo Mossoró-Assu were carried out. The studied profiles were classified in four kinds of soils: Latossolo (Oxisol), Cambissolo (Inceptisol), Neossolo (Entisol) and Chernossolo (Molisol). When observing the morphological attributes, it was noticed that there was great influence of principle material, for the distinction of the main kinds of soil that were found factor of origin in the distinction of the main kinds of soil found. The textural classification of the evaluated soils ranged from sandy to clayey, also influenced by the source material and the different processes of soil formation. Most of the soil profiles showed high base saturation, but only the Oxisol profile showed low base saturation in all its horizons, due to the intense weathering process, making the soil chemically poor. In relation to the iron oxide content of the soil, most of the profiles were classified as hypoferric, only the Inceptisol (profile 3) presented a meso-ferric character, the profile of Oxisol presented the highest amount of crystalline iron and the smaller amount of amorphous iron, since in the profiles of Entisol the amounts of amorphous iron are close to the crystalline, showing even more that the process of weathering is the factor that directly interferes with the amount of iron oxides. The mineralogy showed evident peaks of kaolinite and ilite, as well as hematite and goethite, indicative of more weathered soils with a reddish coloration, and peaks of minerals of type 2:1 in P3 and P5, evidencing very weathered soils. The classification of agricultural land aptitude was made, showing that the majority of the evaluated profiles showed up a aptitude, where the main limiting factor evidenced among them was water

The Caatinga is one of the most degraded biomes in the country. The degraded area in this biome is estimated at more than 200,000 square kilometers. Thus, the objective of the present work was to evaluate the recovery of artificially degraded areas as a function of doses, sources, presence of litter and occurrence of degradation in a Red-Yellow Argisol after five years of degradation. For this, two experiments were carried out in neighbouring areas at the Rafael Fernandes experimental farm with a randomized block design with four replications, with plots of 4,0 m x 10,0 m. The degradation was done with a mat tractor, removing the 25-cm surface layer from the soil. The litter used was obtained from five preserved areas of the Caatinga, located in Mossoró-RN. The litter was obtained by removing the approximately 0 to 5 cm layer of the existing soil surface material from the sampled areas. The treatments evaluated in the first experiment were: soil without degradation and without application of litter, soil degraded and without application of litter and degraded soil + the application of 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10 t ha-1. In the second experiment, the effects of the application of 4 t ha-1 from the litter of five sites (sources) were evaluated, as well as the presence of litter and the occurrence of soil degradation. The results were compared by the Dunnett and Tukey tests, in addition to the regression analysis, in the case of experiment 1. Increasing litter dose determined increases in organic matter, nitrogen, calcium and magnesium contents, as well as the enrichment of values of base sum, CTC's and in base Saturation and decrease of aluminium saturation in the soil. There was variation of soil chemical attributes between litter sources only, for copper content. With the presence of litter, the chemical attributes improved, in relation to the dry matter and with degradation, the chemical attributes were inferior in comparison to the treatment without degradation

However, it is perceived fragility of the region under study with regard to human action, making it more susceptible site to degradation processes. Studies evaluating soil properties in Oeste Potiguar in the Rio Grande do Norte state are scarce, but its quantification in different uses and environments in an integrated manner is necessary for understanding and subsequent adoption of appropriate practices to local conditions. This study aimed to evaluate the physical and chemical properties in different agricultural uses, detecting the most sensitive in distinguishing environments. The survey was conducted in the cities of Pau dos Ferros, San Francisco West, Mossoro, Governador Dix-Sept Rosado. The areas under study have particular characteristics as to classification of soils and agricultural uses. physical fertility and analysis analyzes were performed as particle size, plasticity limits and liquidity, plasticity index and gravimetric moisture. The results were analyzed by means of multivariate analysis as the main tool, specifically factor analysis and clustering. There was a greater contribution TOC in Gleysol (favoring the increase in P, Ca 2+ and K +), favored by organic waste and poor drainage on the basis of the clay fraction. Soils showed eutrophic character (V> 50%), influenced by lithology, except Latossolo. In Gleysol and Cambisol occurred increase in liquidity limits and plasticity, due to the increase of the clay fraction and total organic carbon, increasing the gravimetric moisture to achieve crispness, with the exception of Planosol that showed low permeability on the horizon B, where the limits of plasticity and liquidity diverged, thus, greater plasticity index. In particle size analysis profiles showed changes in textural classes, especially the Gleysol with the highest silt fraction, and an indication of young soils with little weathering activity. We conclude that the physical attributes moisture, liquid limit, plastic limit, plasticity index clay, fine sand were the most sensitive in the environments distinction and pH chemicals, (H + Al), V, PST. The Planosol showed low permeability in the B horizon, thus having the greatest plasticity index distancing the limits between them. The areas studied showed acidity to alkalinity reactions with the presence of Al 3+ and (H + Al) and high salinity.

The aim of this study was to describe morphologically the soil and classify it according to Ethnopedological studies in the Family Agricultural Production Unit Canto da Ilha de Cima, São Miguel do Gostoso (RN). Participatory research was conducted from January to December 2015. In the exploratory phase of the research were carried out field activities, meetings and workshops in the community involving farmers, technicians, students and teachers. In the soil classification study the emic [local] and the etic [academic] knowledges were used. Eight soil profiles were excavated in five different areas of the production unit (grazing of sheep and goats, beekeeping area, agroecological cultivation of vegetables, preserved caatinga and conventional production area - the area called Old Chica). In the emic [local] classification prevailed the impressions and qualitative analyzes of morphological and physical properties of soil in an objective and inteperative way through the light of ethnopedology. Farmers classified the lands as good land, piebald ox earth and old chica land as the most important in terms of fertility for crops, differentiating those from the arisco [a sandy soil] and the piçarro [a muddy-stony soil] lands. In the etic [academic] classification was used the Brazilian System of Soil Classification. In the etic classification were identified the Typical Carbonate Haplic Cambisols soils, YELLOW Typical Eutrophic Oxisols, RED YELLOW Typical Eutrophic Latosols, YELLOW Eutrophic Acrisols Latosols, Typical Eutrophic Haplic Cambisols Tb and Typical Carbonate Haplic Vertisols. The emic [local] and etic [academic] classifications performed in this study had a close relationship with each other, since the morphological attributes characterized from different methodological criteria contributed to affirm the importance of Ethnopedology A união e a troca de saberes entre o campesinato e a academia são instrumentos de grande relevância para estudos de ambientes, um manejo adequado dos agroecosistemas e a inserção de tecnologias adaptados as condições do semiárido.

In this context, the research aimed to evaluate the physical and chemical properties of the soil in relation to landscape and agricultural uses to detect which of these attributes were the most sensitive in distinguishing environments. The research was conducted in the city of Martins / RN on site Bela Vista. To characterize the environment in study opening was held three representative profiles and collected soil samples to the diagnostic horizons for physical and chemical analysis of the soil and subsequently classification. six areas were studied: maize consortium, beans and cassava (CON); monoculture of sugarcane (CAN); banana monoculture (BN); monocultures of elephant grass (CE); corn monoculture (MM) and native vegetation as reference (MN). For the study of areas, collected by 6 samples derived from compound 15 replicates for each area mentioned above, the deformed structure with layers of 0.00 to 0.10; 0.10-0.20 and 0.20-0.30 m in order to perform analyzes of the physical and chemical soil. Analyses were performed in the laboratories of Physics and Soil Fertility of the Federal Rural University of Semi-Arid. The textural classification of soils in cultivation environments textural rating ranged Characterizing the environments in profiles as textural rating ranged from sandy clay, clay, and clayish, with pH ranging from acid neutralidade.Verificou low concentrations of exchangeable cations, consequently low base saturation, considered dystrophic. As for agricultural use followed the same trend as fertility, and the grass area elephant showed higher structural quality. The soils were classified in Fluvisols in the fields of sugar cane and elephant grass, consortium, banana and corn and Udorthent the native forest. Textural classification in soil profiles varied from sandy clay, the clay (Neossolos Fluvic), clayey to very clayey (Fluvisol) and sandy clay (Udorthent). Fertility on farming uses showed acidity reactions to the natural forest areas (MN); and Consortium (CON), tending towards neutrality for elephant grass (CE), corn (MM) and Banana (BAN), with the presence of Al3 + and H + Al and without high salinity. The largest Total Organic Carbon (COT) content was in agricultural use of elephant grass (CE) and the consortium (CON) which favored the largest aggregation and aggregate stability in the soil is influenced by soil-landscape relationship. By means of the main components of multivariate analysis demonstrated that some of the chemical characteristics (pH, Ca2+, Mg2+ Sum bases, T, V, CE, Na + and PST were indicators of separation environments).

In this sense, the objective of this work was to seek a direction regarding the water retention, the influence of organic matter, Ca 2+ and Mg 2+ in soil aggregation and the physical and chemical attributes of the soil due to the different agricultural practices and soil management, to identify which of these are the most sensitive in the environments distinction, having the forest preserved as a reference. But also specifically evaluate the attributes of soil, indicating which of these have provided improvements or restrictions in the evaluated environments, in a Cambisol the Settlement Project Land of Hope, located in the city of Governador Dix-sept Rosado - RN, located in the middle region of the West Potiguar and the micro-region of Apodi Chapada. The areas analyzed were preserved forest area (AMP), cajaranas orchard area (AP) consortium area corn / beans (ACMF), watermelon consortium Area / jerimum (ACMJ) and agroecological area (AA). collection of disturbed and undisturbed samples were carried out in layers from 0.00 to 0.10; .10 To .20; 0.20 to 0.30 m, benefited the Soil Analysis Laboratory Water and Plant - LASAP / DADA / UFERSA. The analysis constituted the particle size, particle density, bulk density, porosity, macro and micro porosity, field capacity, permanent wilting point, available water, water retention curve in the soil, aggregate, EC, pH, TOC , P, K, Na, Ca, Mg and TOC PST, Ca and Mg added within each class. The greatest amount of TOC was observed in the AP, due probably to supply litter found in the location associated with the excrement of animals (goats, cattle, horses and donkeys) in the grazing area. Regarding the texture, the soils of ACMJ had higher clay content (0.55, 0.58 and 0.63 kg kg-1) in the three layers studied and can be justified because it is a colluvial area. It was observed that the soils under conventional tillage (ACMF and ACMJ), regardless of plant cultivation, possibly promoted a greater aeration of the soil and a lower DS, as evidenced by an increase of macropores in the superficial layer. AP provided the best water retention conditions compared to the other treatments, due to the maintenance of soil cover and increase soil organic carbon. In conventional management areas ACMF and ACMJ percent aggregation , aggregate stability and mean weight diameter were reduced compared to the preserved area ( AMP) in all layers. Agricultural uses ACMF (area of corn consortium / beans) and ACMJ ( watermelon consortium of area / pumpkin ) altered the degradation of the physical attributes ( bulk density and aggregation ) and chemical (total organic carbon and Mg 2+ ) soil compared to preserved forest area (AMP) Os sistemas de manejo inadequados podem promover a degradação da qualidade físico-química do solo, com reflexos ambientais e na produtividade.

The main hypothesis of this work is the study of the farmer knowledge used as tools observations experienced in activities over the years, the respect of the problems and solutions for their systems and that this knowledge is in line with the scientific knowledge. Consistent with the idea of integration of knowledge and considering the few studies with ethnopedological approach developed in the state of Rio Grande do Norte. This study is a way, the one record that despite never forget the land of his birth, moved, traveled by other plagues; studied, learned, reflected, matured and now back to the beloved land, seeking to portray it at the same time, meet a heart pulse and rethink what you have learned. Given the above, it was aimed to perform ethnopedological evaluation of Sant Miguel Ranch, and thus prepare the pedological survey, characterize the fauna and flora and the use made of them, know the sources and use of water providing understanding of reality site. In no approach analyzes and scientific names, but also the record of the wisdom of the ancients; own observations collected over many years and notes while listening to the considerations of those who came before. The study was conducted in the city of Almino Afonso (where the ranch ridge de Saint Miguel, along with 29 other sites, is in the mountainous area of the middle-west of the state of Rio Grande do Norte, on the border with Paraíba, on the splitter water: Piranhas (south) and Apodi (north). The main results identified three general elements of greater importance in the characterization Ranch of Ridge environment of San Miguel: the mountainous terrain, the stony ground and the trees and shrub thick. The strong rocky relief wavy and thick vegetation, unfavorable to the penetration of extensive cattle ranching, slow to occupation of the local area in colonial times. It was concluded that the soil in this study, although stony, provided adequate natural fertility to sustain agriculture with empirical techniques, a factor that induced the backcountry search saws because they have higher rainfall for its water supply, and production of easy pickings in the backwoods farmer A crescente preocupação científica com o desenvolvimento sustentável e uso adequado dos recursos naturais tem despertado para a necessidade de pesquisas com enfoque participativo, aproximando pesquisadores e camponeses.

In this context, this study aimed to characterize and classify agricultural soils through morphological, physical and chemical analyzes using the Ethnopedological studies and infer about the methods and their importance to the agricultural production of the Settlement Project Santa Agostinha, Caraúbas, RN. The five units defined for the study were: 1) cashew; 2) capineira; 3) consortium; 4) and agroforestry; 5) preserved forest (reference). Participatory workshops were held, emicista exchanges and classification and ethicist and analysis of morphological attributes, physical and chemical soil in the units studied in layers 0.0-0.10; 0.10-0.20; 0.20-0.30 m their diagnostic profiles. The samples were sent to the Federal Rural University of the Semi-Arid for processing thin dry land to air (TFSA) and subsequent analysis of the physical and chemical properties. Was used to interpret the results multivariate statistics. The results of the ethicist rating based on the interpretation of the analyzed attributes were as follows, according to the units: Neosol Quartzarenic and Neosol Regolitic showed a close relationship with emicista rating. The consortium agricultural unit had physical limitations, when the drainage, waterproof layer, which favors the accumulation of water in subsurface stimulating agricultural production in other units as the chemical solódico character, masked fertility.

Tul) are species of the leguminosae family and are part of the native vegetation of the northeastern semiarid the Caatinga. The objective of this study was to evaluate the development of the plant and nodulation of arboreal species in different land uses in the Potiguar semiarid. To perform the experiment were collected nine soil samples with different uses: three samples with agricultural cultivation (AC), three samples of native forest (NF) and three samples with degradation characteristics (DE). Physical analysis and soil chemistry were made, and also processed and distributed in bags of seedlings with 5L capacity, with one plant per bag. The experiment was conducted in a greenhouse. The harvest of the experiment was performed 90 days after the transplanting. The variables analyzed were: plant height (PH), stem diameter (SD), dry matter of the aerial part (DMAP), root dry weight (RDW), dry matter of the whole plant (DMWP) and number of nodes (NN). The experimental design was completely randomized, with 9 treatment and 3 repetitions. We found a smaller SD, DMAP, RDW and DMWP in NF2 soils, DE1 and DE2 to the sabiá. For the jucá the lowest growth of plants was in NF2 and DE2 soils. The sabiá presented nodulation in all soils, while the jucá not formed any nodule. Soils with degradation characteristics provided the sabiá greater number of nodes than the agricultural soils and native vegetation O sabiá (Mimosa caesalpiniifolia Benth.) e o jucá (Caesalpinia férrea Mart. ex. The use of appropriate techniques to local agricultural peculiarities conditions taking into account the weather pattern, soil type and management of the Caatinga constitute an essential tool for maintenance of natural resources. With this study we sought a direction about the quantitative fractions of soil organic matter (MOS) and physico-chemical soil for different agricultural use and soil management, aiming to identify which of these were the most sensitive in distinguishing environments , and the Native Forest (AMN) as a reference, identifying which of these showed improvement and / or restrictions in the study sites. The research was conducted at Governador Dix-Sept Rosado, the Settlement Land of Hope Project located in the micro-region of Chapada Apodi-RN, in a Cambisol Eutrophic. The areas studied were: AMN - Native Forest area, AP - area Cajaraneiras orchard, APC - news area with conventional preparation of the soil in intercropping, ACOL - area of colluvium and AAG - Agro-ecological area. Soil fertility analyzes were performed, physical analysis such as resistance to penetration, particle size, bulk density and particle density, as well as total organic carbon analysis and labile and recalcitrant SOM. It was observed that the ground reaction as fertility study areas had neutral to alkaline reactions, without the presence of Al + 3 and Al + H, and no high salinity. The most organic material contribution in AP area (favored increased P, Ca + 2 and K + in the soil, and reduction in Mg + 2 levels and increased resistance to soil penetration, probably due to the trampling of animals. it is concluded that (AAG) retained condition similar to the AMN labile fractions C and recalcitrant organic matter (MOS), even reaching a IMC of 111 and major components shown that the chemical attributes (P, K +, and Ca + 2) and labile and recalcitrant fractions of soil organic matter (MOS) were indicators of separation of environments.

The integration crop-livestock is a system of use of the agricultural areas with management of crops and animals at same area, making possible, intensification of the use of the land, increasing the sustainable of the production systems and improving the profitability through the introduction of the tillage of annual pastures. The news inter-relations established with the presence of animals can make the soil the most complex. For this reason, techniques of management adapted for this system of production must be developed. This work analyzed the effect of the soil compaction, in function of the soil physical and mechanical characteristics in areas cultivated with corn and bean at the integration system crop-livestock. The experiment was managed at Riacho dos Cavalos- PB, in the period of March of 2011 October of 2011. The parameters of soil bulk density, structural void ratio and compression index of the soil were analyzed in the depths of 0.0 to 0.05m, 0.05 to 0.10m and 0.10 to 0.20m. The delineation in blocks at random was used in scheme factorial 2x4x3 with three repetitions. The results showed significant differences up for soil bulk density and structural void ratio. There was not increase of the soil bulk density as well as reduction of the soil structural void ratio with the bovine ones
