- Abstract
Geological hazards are widely distributed, cause huge losses, and have always been the focus of attention for engineering and environmental geologists. Geological hazard evaluation is the basis of research and has important theoretical significance for preventing and controlling geological hazards. Therefore, geological hazard evaluation has become the focus of engineering and environmental geology. The question of how to build a universal index system model of geological hazard evaluation is an urgent problem that needs to be solved in geological hazard evaluation. Based on a large amount of previous research data, this paper takes landslide hazard as an example and systematically expounds the main problems that need to be solved in the current geological hazard evaluation from five aspects: basic concept, evaluation scope and accuracy, evaluation index system and evaluation criteria, evaluation method, and applicability of evaluation results. A landslide hazard assessment index system model is proposed, which applies to all regions, including all of the factors that may affect the formation of landslides. It is also hoped that this will be used as an example to establish various types of disaster evaluation and assessment systems. If the parameter has no value in the assessment process, it can be processed as 0. On this basis, further research is suggested from the perspectives of the geological hazard evaluation level, geological hazard evaluation theory, and method. To provide thoughts on and suggestions for geological hazard risk assessment method research, standard revision, investigation and evaluation, and risk management and control need to be considered. Drug resistance presents a significant challenge to achieving positive clinical outcomes in anti-tumor therapy. Prior research has illuminated reasons behind drug resistance, including increased drug efflux, alterations in drug targets, and abnormal activation of oncogenic pathways. However, there's a need for deeper investigation into the impact of drug-resistant cells on parental tumor cells and intricate crosstalk between tumor cells and the malignant tumor microenvironment (TME). Recent studies on extracellular vesicles (EVs) have provided valuable insights. EVs are membrane-bound particles secreted by all cells, mediating cell-to-cell communication. They contain functional cargoes like DNA, RNA, lipids, proteins, and metabolites from mother cells, delivered to other cells. Notably, EVs are increasingly recognized as regulators in the resistance to anti-cancer drugs. This review aims to summarize the mechanisms of EV-mediated anti-tumor drug resistance, covering therapeutic approaches like chemotherapy, targeted therapy, immunotherapy and even radiotherapy. Detecting EV-based biomarkers to predict drug resistance assists in bypassing anti-tumor drug resistance. Additionally, targeted inhibition of EV biogenesis and secretion emerges as a promising approach to counter drug resistance. We highlight the importance of conducting in-depth mechanistic research on EVs, their cargoes, and functional approaches specifically focusing on EV subpopulations. These efforts will significantly advance the development of strategies to overcome drug resistance in anti-tumor therapy.

This study highlights the current status of rabbit production, potential challenges facing the industry and the prospects for rabbit farming in Dodoma city, Tanzania. Data from 60 individuals keeping rabbits were collected through a structured questionnaire and direct observation. Results showed that 60% of the respondents were men and 40% women. Rabbits were kept mainly as a source of meat for families and income generation. Main sources of rabbit stock were local breeders (55%) and missionaries (25%), while the remainder were from agricultural institutes. The dominant rabbit breeds reared were California white (50%), New Zealand white (30%), Chinchilla (10%) and Dutch (10%). Ninety-five percent of the farmers kept rabbits in cages, while 5% confined them at night and let them out during the day to forage for feed. Fifteen percent of the respondents fed commercial rabbit pellets, 5% vegetables and kitchen waste only, whereas 80% fed both rabbit pellets, vegetables and kitchen waste. The number of rabbits kept by an individual farmer ranged from 5 to 180, with mean stock size of 22.80±11.20 (mean±standard deviation). Rabbits were sold at 8 to 12 wk of age and each rabbit was sold for 20 000 to 30 000 Tanzanian shillings (8.00 – 12.00 USD). Major challenges in rabbit production were lack of feed resources, lack of readily available market, poor quality of breeding stock, low knowledge of rabbit production techniques and lack of technical support from extension services. Although rabbit farming in Dodoma is carried out at subsistence level, it is associated with a decrease in poverty among urban and peri-urban farmers. In conclusion, rabbit production in urban and peri-urban areas of Tanzania has the potential to contribute to food and nutrition security and poverty alleviation, thus improving living standards.

- Abstract
AbstractDrainage is a common practice in geotechnical engineering concerning dredged marine soils. Current drainage techniques, including surcharge preloading, vacuum preloading, and combined vacuum-surcharge preloading, have been proven to be effective in soft soil treatment, but are also criticized for their high energy consumption. This paper made a brief review on existing drainage techniques and proposed some prospects for the next-generation techniques in response to the public concern of sustainability. It is found that all conventional preloading techniques have been well studied from tests to modeling, and improved vacuum preloading tends to be used in combination with other techniques. Drainage techniques with lower energy consumption can be realized either by using renewable energy or designing biomimetic devices. The paper is expected to provide a comprehensive while concise report on recent advances in drainage techniques for dredged marine soils and in the meanwhile give an insight into the further development towards a more sustainable future. Healthcare professionals play an important role in the success of any healthcare system. In the Republic of Bulgaria, as well as in various other countries, there is a shortage of human resources in health care. This necessitates the introduction of a new health specialty "Medical Assistant", which is the successor of the "Medical Paramedic" specialty, the training of which was discontinued in 1999. The profession "Medical assistant" is in the field of "Health care", a full-time form of education lasting four years. The purpose of the training is: acquiring knowledge in various fields of medicine, building analytical thinking and professional skills. In the seventh and eighth semesters of the studies, a pre-graduate internship is held in various accredited medical institutions. Graduated students in this specialty receive the educational and qualification degree "Bachelor". The relevance and importance of the topic is determined by the fact that the provision of quality education for medical assistants is important for their professional realization, for the effective functioning of the health system in our country and the achievement of a high level of quality health services for the population offered by graduates in this professional field. The aim of the present study is to study and analyze the professional training of future medical assistants for their realization, their satisfaction with the practical skills and knowledge they have achieved, the prospects before them, and the opportunities for independent work. Materials and methods: The research includes conducting a survey among 30 students from the "Medical Assistant" specialty - first and second year in the "Health Care" department, "Medical and Clinical Diagnostic Activities" department at the University of Ruse "A. Kanchev". The proposed survey was developed specifically for the study. Almost all questions are closed-ended. Most of them require only one answer. There are a few exceptions allowing for two or more answers. Part of the scales includes an "other" option, which is open and implies a free answer other than the given ones. Conclusions: The results of the surveyed students give an accurate idea about their expectations, perspectives and opportunities for realization after completing their studies. University of Ruse "A. Kanchev" is a higher education institution with traditions and high quality of the educational process, and this is very important for the training of students and the professional growth of future specialists. A high percentage of respondents positively evaluate the application of modern methods and technical means in the learning process, and share that training in small groups enables better control by teachers and the formation of specific skills. A large part of the respondents expect to be able to realize themselves in the field of health care, to be satisfied with the medical services they provide, and to be able to make independent, effective, and accurate decisions regarding the health of patients. Over the past two decades, the volume and quality of information received from satellites to determine the water level of large lakes and reservoirs have significantly increased. At the same time, due to insufficient accuracy, the results of satellite measurements need an adjustment based on the comparison with ground-based observations. The latter not only allow evaluating errors in satellite data, but also serve as a kind of a benchmark for the development and adaptation of the methods of their correction. Such a methodology is being developed for several years jointly by the Laboratory of Space Geophysical and Oceanographic Studies (LEGOS, France) and the State Hydrological Institute. The paper analyzes the causes and sources of errors in satellite and ground data, the techniques for comparing and analyzing long-term series of these data, and the methods for adapting the results of satellite observations in order to improve their accuracy. The directions of further development of satellite altimetry are considered to increase the reliability of satellite data on the water level of inland water bodies. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Hepatoblastoma, a common extracranial malignant solid tumor in childhood, is often detected at an advanced stage and is difficult to treat surgically. Despite the availability of multiple comprehensive treatments that can be combined with surgery, hepatoblastoma treatment outcomes remain poor. Surgery is the main treatment strategy for hepatoblastoma, but it faces many challenges, including tumor attachment to surrounding tissues, tumor wrapping or invading of vital organs and tissues, the presence of giant or multiple tumors, distant metastasis, the formation of a tumor thrombus, and significant surgical trauma. In this review, we discuss recent research advances and propose potential strategies for overcoming these challenges. Such strategies may improve the rate of hepatoblastoma resection and local control in children, as well as reduce complications and trauma. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The landmark peace deal between Iran and Saudi Arabia brokered by China has ended years of hostility between the two regional arch-rivals. The peace agreement is expected to ease the regional tension and bring peace and stability. The warming up of relations may also lead to the end of proxy wars in Yemen, Syria and Iraq. China’s emergence as a nonhegemonic and reliable extra-regional actor/guarantor would stabilise the regional security environment. This development directly impacts Pakistan as it has good relations with Iran, Saudi Arabia, and China. The peace agreement holds great prospects for Pakistan through investment, trade, joint production, corridor connectivity and joint consortium. However, while the prospects are bright, there are many challenges to harness these opportunities fully. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Rabbits were sold at 8 to 12 wk of age and each rabbit was sold for 20 000 to 30 000 Tanzanian shillings (8.00 - 12.00 USD). In the history of Indian classical music, particularly in instrumental genres, very few women could achieve success. The developments that did come about were observed over the past 150 years. Since the early 20th century, it became significantly more common for women to learn Indian classical music instruments. It was a component of a change to a new national consciousness. During the last 300-400 years, approx., Hindustani music originated in royal palaces. Musical compositions were meant for the amusement of the affluent section of society and the musicians who performed were all males of families among whom the art was passed down through the generations. The circumstances in Bangladesh were not any different. However, the trends are now beginning to change. In every avenue of art and culture, women take charge and demonstrate their successes, just like men. The musical intelligentsia believes there are some obstacles in Bangladesh for women who want to pursue a music career, but this is true for both men and women. Some obstacles are designed specifically for women naturally, but they are used elsewhere. This paper highlights and underlines the contribution of women musicians of Bangladesh. Quartz resources play a crucial role in the development of key economic sectors, particularly in the production of chemically pure silicon. The extraction and processing of these resources necessitate high-tech methods to obtain the desired silicon output. Presently, the demand for silicon stands at 5–6 Ktpa, while the supply remains at 2300 t. An analysis of the chemical properties of various rocks (quartzites, quartz sands, vein quartz) in the Republic of North Ossetia–Alania reveals that their parametric characteristics align with the requirements for silicon production. The researchers in North Ossetia have successfully grown singlecrystal silicon and produced photovoltaic converters. Russian scientists have also achieved the first melting of metallurgical silicon into polycrystalline silicon using vacuum furnaces and electron-beam remelting, yielding promising results. The goal of this research is to analyze and assess the potential of high-quality quartz resources in the North Caucasus. The main objectives include identifying sites with optimal quartz deposits suitable for silicon production, conducting localization, estimating forecast resources, and designating areas for further investigation. The selected sites are expected to possess advantageous geographical and economic features, along with favorable mining conditions conducive to open-pit mining. The study focuses on the Fiagdon site in the Alagir District, RNO-Alania. Various methods, including laboratory work, sampling, examination of constructed sections, and a comprehensive review of mine workings and borehole documentation, were employed. Conclusions from mineralogical and petrographic analyses, alongside laboratory studies and process tests, contributed to the research methodology. The results of the research encompassed the analysis of statistical, economic, geological, and process-related information necessary for addressing primary geological objectives. Subsequent steps involved the selection of prospects for further exploration, specification of geological maps at a 1:10000 scale with accompanying legends and sections, determination of the conditions, morphology, and parameters of productive deposits, and preliminary studies on the quality and process characteristics of quartz resources. Furthermore, the P2 forecast resources of high-quality quartz raw materials for silicon production were localized, estimated at 500 Kt, and rigorously tested. The study’s discoveries have led to the formulation of recommendations for future exploration endeavors.

Humans have been described as a “forward-looking” species in more than simply physiological terms. We are, it seems, unusually concerned with the future. This essay explores how built environments can be designed to evoke positive anticipation of future events. It suggests that there are three primary means of achieving this: (1) the visible display of valued resources, (2) signs of readiness, and (3) views that encourage mental exploration. It is observed that while resources tend to elicit hope of their future use, readiness and visual prospects seem to evoke a more general sense of optimism. Given the large proportion of our lives that most of us now spend in buildings, it is suggested that these design strategies might be helpful in maintaining and improving occupant morale in the indoor spaces where we live and work, and even more so for those who, for one reason or another, are unable to venture out.

Microneedles (MNs) can be used for the topical treatment of skin disorders as they directly deliver therapeutics to the site of skin lesions, resulting in increased therapeutic efficacy while having minimum side effects. MNs are used to deliver different kinds of therapeutics (e.g., small molecules, macromolecules, nanomedicines, living cells, bacteria, and exosomes) for treating various skin disorders, including superficial tumors, wounds, skin infections, inflammatory skin diseases, and abnormal skin appearance. The therapeutic efficacy of MNs can be improved by integrating the advantages of multiple therapeutics to perform combination therapy. Through careful designing, MNs can be further modified with biomimetic structures for the responsive drug release from internal and external stimuli and to enhance the transdermal delivery efficiency for robust therapeutic outcomes. Some studies have proposed the use of drug-free MNs as a promising mechanotherapeutic strategy to promote wound healing, scar removal, and hair regeneration via a mechanical communication pathway. Although MNs have several advantages, the practical application of MNs suffers from problems related to industrial manufacture and clinical evaluation, making it difficult for clinical translation. In this study, we summarized the various applications, emerging challenges, and developmental prospects of MNs in skin disorders to provide information on ways to advance clinical translation.

Over 80% of genetic studies in the Parkinson’s disease (PD) field have been conducted on individuals of European descent. There is a social and scientific imperative to understand the genetic basis of PD across global populations for therapeutic development and deployment. PD etiology is impacted by genetic and environmental factors that are variable by ancestry and region, emphasising the need for worldwide programs to gather large numbers of patients to identify novel candidate genes and risk loci involved in disease. Only a handful of documented genetic assessments have investigated families with PD in AfrAbia, which comprises the member nations of the Arab League and the African Union, with very limited cohort and case-control studies reported. This review article summarises prior research on PD genetics in AfrAbia, highlighting gaps and challenges. We discuss the etiological risk spectrum in the context of historical interactions, highlighting allele frequencies, penetrance, and the clinical manifestations of known genetic variants in the AfrAbian PD patient community.
