Secondary cosmic ray fluxes are important probes of the propagation and interaction of high-energy particles in the Galaxy. Recent measurements of primary and secondary cosmic ray nuclei have revealed unexpected spectral features that demand a deeper understanding. In this work we report the direct measurement of the cosmic ray boron spectrum from 10 GeV/n to 8 TeV/n with eight years of data collected by the Dark Matter Particle Explorer (DAMPE) mission. The measured spectrum shows an evident hardening at $182\pm24$ GeV/n with a spectral power index of $\gamma_1 = 3.02 \pm 0.01$ before the break and an index change of $\Delta \gamma = 0.31 \pm 0.05$ after the break. A simple power law model is disfavored at a confidence level of 8$\sigma$. Compared with the hardenings measured in the DAMPE proton and helium spectra, the secondary boron spectrum hardens roughly twice as much as these primaries, which is consistent with a propagation related mechanism to interpret the spectral hardenings of cosmic rays observed at hundreds of GeV/n., Comment: 10 pages, 10 figures, submitted to PRL

Image-based virtual try-on is challenging since the generated image should fit the garment to model images in various poses and keep the characteristics and details of the garment simultaneously. A popular research stream warps the garment image firstly to reduce the burden of the generation stage, which relies highly on the performance of the warping module. Other methods without explicit warping often lack sufficient guidance to fit the garment to the model images. In this paper, we propose FIA-VTON, which leverages the implicit warp feature by adopting a Flow Infused Attention module on virtual try-on. The dense warp flow map is projected as indirect guidance attention to enhance the feature map warping in the generation process implicitly, which is less sensitive to the warping estimation accuracy than an explicit warp of the garment image. To further enhance implicit warp guidance, we incorporate high-level spatial attention to complement the dense warp. Experimental results on the VTON-HD and DressCode dataset significantly outperform state-of-the-art methods, demonstrating that FIA-VTON is effective and robust for virtual try-on.

Lithium superionic conductors (LSICs) are crucial for next-generation solid-state batteries, offering exceptional ionic conductivity and enhanced safety for renewable energy and electric vehicles. However, their discovery is extremely challenging due to the vast chemical space, limited labeled data, and the understanding of complex structure-function relationships required for optimizing ion transport. This study introduces a multiscale topological learning (MTL) framework, integrating algebraic topology and unsupervised learning to tackle these challenges efficiently. By modeling lithium-only and lithium-free substructures, the framework extracts multiscale topological features and introduces two topological screening metrics-cycle density and minimum connectivity distance-to ensure structural connectivity and ion diffusion compatibility. Promising candidates are clustered via unsupervised algorithms to identify those resembling known superionic conductors. For final refinement, candidates that pass chemical screening undergo ab initio molecular dynamics simulations for validation. This approach led to the discovery of 14 novel LSICs, four of which have been independently validated in recent experiments. Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are porous, crystalline materials with high surface area, adjustable porosity, and structural tunability, making them ideal for diverse applications. However, traditional experimental and computational methods have limited scalability and interpretability, hindering effective exploration of MOF structure-property relationships. To address these challenges, we introduce, for the first time, a category-specific topological learning (CSTL), which combines algebraic topology with chemical insights for robust property prediction. The model represents MOF structures as simplicial complexes and incorporates elemental categorizations to enable balanced, interpretable machine learning study. By integrating category-specific persistent homology, CSTL captures both global and local structural characteristics, rendering multi-dimensional, category-specific descriptors that support a predictive model with high accuracy and robustness across eight MOF datasets, outperforming all previous results. Tabular data are fundamental in common machine learning applications, ranging from finance to genomics and healthcare. This paper focuses on tabular regression tasks, a field where deep learning (DL) methods are not consistently superior to machine learning (ML) models due to the challenges posed by irregular target functions inherent in tabular data, causing sensitive label changes with minor variations from features. To address these issues, we propose a novel Arithmetic-Aware Pre-training and Adaptive-Regularized Fine-tuning framework (APAR), which enables the model to fit irregular target function in tabular data while reducing the negative impact of overfitting. In the pre-training phase, APAR introduces an arithmetic-aware pretext objective to capture intricate sample-wise relationships from the perspective of continuous labels. In the fine-tuning phase, a consistency-based adaptive regularization technique is proposed to self-learn appropriate data augmentation. Extensive experiments across 10 datasets demonstrated that APAR outperforms existing GBDT-, supervised NN-, and pretrain-finetune NN-based methods in RMSE (+9.43% $\sim$ 20.37%), and empirically validated the effects of pre-training tasks, including the study of arithmetic operations. Creating AI systems that can interact with environments over long periods, similar to human cognition, has been a longstanding research goal. Recent advancements in multimodal large language models (MLLMs) have made significant strides in open-world understanding. However, the challenge of continuous and simultaneous streaming perception, memory, and reasoning remains largely unexplored. Current MLLMs are constrained by their sequence-to-sequence architecture, which limits their ability to process inputs and generate responses simultaneously, akin to being unable to think while perceiving. Furthermore, relying on long contexts to store historical data is impractical for long-term interactions, as retaining all information becomes costly and inefficient. Therefore, rather than relying on a single foundation model to perform all functions, this project draws inspiration from the concept of the Specialized Generalist AI and introduces disentangled streaming perception, reasoning, and memory mechanisms, enabling real-time interaction with streaming video and audio input. The proposed framework InternLM-XComposer2.5-OmniLive (IXC2.5-OL) consists of three key modules: (1) Streaming Perception Module: Processes multimodal information in real-time, storing key details in memory and triggering reasoning in response to user queries. (2) Multi-modal Long Memory Module: Integrates short-term and long-term memory, compressing short-term memories into long-term ones for efficient retrieval and improved accuracy. (3) Reasoning Module: Responds to queries and executes reasoning tasks, coordinating with the perception and memory modules. Quantum error mitigation (QEM) is critical for harnessing the potential of near-term quantum devices. Particularly, QEM protocols can be designed based on machine learning, where the mapping between noisy computational outputs and ideal ones can be learned on a training set consisting of Clifford circuits or near-Clifford circuits that contain only a limited number of non-Clifford gates. This learned mapping is then applied to noisy target circuits to estimate the ideal computational output. In this work, we propose a learning-based error mitigation framework called Clifford Perturbation Data Regression (CPDR), which constructs training sets by Clifford circuits with small perturbations. Specifically, these circuits are parameterized quantum circuits, where the rotation angles of the gates are restricted to a narrow range, ensuring that the gates remain close to Clifford gates. This design enables the efficient simulation of the training circuits using the Sparse Pauli Dynamics method. As a result, CPDR is able to utilize training sets with a better diversity to train the model, compared with previous learning-based QEM models that construct training sets with only Clifford or near-Clifford circuits. Numerical simulations on small-scale Ising model circuits demonstrate that the performance of CPDR dramatically outperforms that of existing methods such as Zero-Noise Extrapolation and learning-based Probabilistic Error Cancellation. Furthermore, using the experimental data from IBM's 127-qubit Eagle processor, our findings suggest that CPDR demonstrates improved accuracy compared to the original mitigation results reported in [Nature 618, 500 (2023)]., Comment: 21 pages, 6 figures. Generating detailed captions comprehending text-rich visual content in images has received growing attention for Large Vision-Language Models (LVLMs). However, few studies have developed benchmarks specifically tailored for detailed captions to measure their accuracy and comprehensiveness. In this paper, we introduce a detailed caption benchmark, termed as CompreCap, to evaluate the visual context from a directed scene graph view. Concretely, we first manually segment the image into semantically meaningful regions (i.e., semantic segmentation mask) according to common-object vocabulary, while also distinguishing attributes of objects within all those regions. Then directional relation labels of these objects are annotated to compose a directed scene graph that can well encode rich compositional information of the image. Based on our directed scene graph, we develop a pipeline to assess the generated detailed captions from LVLMs on multiple levels, including the object-level coverage, the accuracy of attribute descriptions, the score of key relationships, etc. Experimental results on the CompreCap dataset confirm that our evaluation method aligns closely with human evaluation scores across LVLMs., Comment: 21 pages, 17 figures. Although text-to-image (T2I) models have recently thrived as visual generative priors, their reliance on high-quality text-image pairs makes scaling up expensive. We argue that grasping the cross-modality alignment is not a necessity for a sound visual generative prior, whose focus should be on texture modeling. Such a philosophy inspires us to study image-to-image (I2I) generation, where models can learn from in-the-wild images in a self-supervised manner. We first develop a pure vision-based training framework, Lumos, and confirm the feasibility and the scalability of learning I2I models. We then find that, as an upstream task of T2I, our I2I model serves as a more foundational visual prior and achieves on-par or better performance than existing T2I models using only 1/10 text-image pairs for fine-tuning. We further demonstrate the superiority of I2I priors over T2I priors on some text-irrelevant visual generative tasks, like image-to-3D and image-to-video. The field of video generation has made remarkable advancements, yet there remains a pressing need for a clear, systematic recipe that can guide the development of robust and scalable models. In this work, we present a comprehensive study that systematically explores the interplay of model architectures, training recipes, and data curation strategies, culminating in a simple and scalable text-image-conditioned video generation method, named STIV. Our framework integrates image condition into a Diffusion Transformer (DiT) through frame replacement, while incorporating text conditioning via a joint image-text conditional classifier-free guidance. This design enables STIV to perform both text-to-video (T2V) and text-image-to-video (TI2V) tasks simultaneously. Additionally, STIV can be easily extended to various applications, such as video prediction, frame interpolation, multi-view generation, and long video generation, etc. With comprehensive ablation studies on T2I, T2V, and TI2V, STIV demonstrate strong performance, despite its simple design. An 8.7B model with 512 resolution achieves 83.1 on VBench T2V, surpassing both leading open and closed-source models like CogVideoX-5B, Pika, Kling, and Gen-3. The same-sized model also achieves a state-of-the-art result of 90.1 on VBench I2V task at 512 resolution. By providing a transparent and extensible recipe for building cutting-edge video generation models, we aim to empower future research and accelerate progress toward more versatile and reliable video generation solutions.

Recently, large language models (LLMs) have demonstrated impressive capabilities in dealing with new tasks with the help of in-context learning (ICL). In the study of Large Vision-Language Models (LVLMs), when implementing ICL, researchers usually adopts the naive strategies like fixed demonstrations across different samples, or selecting demonstrations directly via a visual-language embedding model. These methods does not guarantee the configured demonstrations fit the need of the LVLMs. To address this issue, we now propose a novel framework, \underline{d}emonstration \underline{r}etriever for large m\underline{u}lti-modal \underline{m}odel (DRUM), which fine-tunes the visual-language embedding model to better meet the LVLM's needs. First, we discuss the retrieval strategies for a visual-language task, assuming an embedding model is given. And we propose to concate the image and text embeddings to enhance the retrieval performance. Second, we propose to re-rank the demonstrations retrieved by the embedding model via the LVLM's feedbacks, and calculate a list-wise ranking loss for training the embedding model. Third, we propose an iterative demonstration mining strategy to improve the training of the embedding model. Through extensive experiments on 3 types of visual-language tasks, 7 benchmark datasets, our DRUM framework is proven to be effective in boosting the LVLM's in-context learning performance via retrieving more proper demonstrations.

Regular black holes, which avoid the essential center singularities, can be constructed through various methods, including nonlinear electrodynamics and quantum corrections. Recently, it was shown that via an infinite tower of higher-curvature corrections, one can obtain different regular black hole solutions in any spacetime dimension $D\geq 5$. Utilizing the concept of thermodynamical topology, we examine these black holes as topological thermodynamic defects, classifying them into distinct topological categories based on their generalized free energy. We find that the Hawking temperature of the black hole has at least one zero point at the small horizon radius limit. Under this fact, the regular black holes generated through the purely gravitational theories exhibit universal thermodynamical behaviors, strongly suggesting they belong to the same topological class. Three-dimensional (3D) point clouds are becoming more and more popular for representing 3D objects and scenes. Due to limited network bandwidth, efficient compression of 3D point clouds is crucial. To tackle this challenge, the Moving Picture Experts Group (MPEG) is actively developing the Geometry-based Point Cloud Compression (G-PCC) standard, incorporating innovative methods to optimize compression, such as the Region-Adaptive Hierarchical Transform (RAHT) nestled within a layer-by-layer octree-tree structure. Nevertheless, a notable problem still exists in RAHT, i.e., the proportion of zero residuals in the last few RAHT layers leads to unnecessary bitrate consumption. To address this problem, we propose an adaptive skip coding method for RAHT, which adaptively determines whether to encode the residuals of the last several layers or not, thereby improving the coding efficiency. In addition, we propose a rate-distortion cost calculation method associated with an adaptive Lagrange multiplier. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method achieves average Bj{\o}ntegaard rate improvements of -3.50%, -5.56%, and -4.18% for the Luma, Cb, and Cr components, respectively, on dynamic point clouds, when compared with the state-of-the-art G-PCC reference software under the common test conditions recommended by MPEG.

Accurate long-distance ranging is crucial for diverse applications, including satellite formation flying, very-long-baseline interferometry, gravitational-wave observatory, geographical research, etc. The integration of the time-of-flight mesurement with phase interference in dual-comb method enables high-precision ranging with a rapid update rate and an extended ambiguity range. Pioneering experiments have demonstrated unprecedented precision in ranging, achieving 5 nm @ 60 ms for 1.1 m and 200 nm @ 0.5 s for 25 m. However, long-distance ranging remains technically challenging due to high transmission loss and noise. In this letter, we propose a two-way dual-comb ranging (TWDCR) approach that enables successful ranging over a distance of 113 kilometers. We employ air dispersion analysis and synthetic repetition rate technique to extend the ambiguity range of the inherently noisy channel beyond 100 km. The achieved ranging precision is 11.5 $\mu$m @ 1.3 ms, 681 nm @ 1 s, and 82 nm @ 21 s, as confirmed through a comparative analysis of two independent systems. Efficiently manipulating the magnetization of van der Waals ferromagnets has attracted considerable interest in developing room-temperature two-dimensional material-based memory and logic devices. Here, taking advantage of the unique properties of the van der Waals ferromagnet as well as promising characteristics of the orbital Hall effect, we demonstrate the room-temperature magnetization switching of van der Waals ferromagnet Fe3GaTe2 through the orbital torque generated by the orbital Hall material, Titanium (Ti). The switching current density is estimated to be around 1.6 x 10^6 A/cm^2, comparable to that achieved in Fe3GaTe2 using spin-orbit torque from spin Hall materials. The efficient magnetization switching arises from the combined effects of the large orbital Hall conductivity of Ti and the strong spin-orbit correlation of the Fe3GaTe2, as confirmed through theoretical calculations. Artificial Intelligence (AI) has apparently become one of the most important techniques discovered by humans in history while the human brain is widely recognized as one of the most complex systems in the universe. One fundamental critical question which would affect human sustainability remains open: Will artificial intelligence (AI) evolve to surpass human intelligence in the future? This paper shows that in theory new AI twins with fresh cellular level of AI techniques for neuroscience could approximate the brain and its functioning systems (e.g. perception and cognition functions) with any expected small error and AI without restrictions could surpass human intelligence with probability one in the end. This paper indirectly proves the validity of the conjecture made by Frank Rosenblatt 70 years ago about the potential capabilities of AI, especially in the realm of artificial neural networks. Intelligence is just one of fortuitous but sophisticated creations of the nature which has not been fully discovered. Like mathematics and physics, with no restrictions artificial intelligence would lead to a new subject with its self-contained systems and principles. We anticipate that this paper opens new doors for 1) AI twins and other AI techniques to be used in cellular level of efficient neuroscience dynamic analysis, functioning analysis of the brain and brain illness solutions; 2) new worldwide collaborative scheme for interdisciplinary teams concurrently working on and modelling different types of neurons and synapses and different level of functioning subsystems of the brain with AI techniques; 3) development of low energy of AI techniques with the aid of fundamental neuroscience properties; and 4) new controllable, explainable and safe AI techniques with reasoning capabilities of discovering principles in nature., Comment: Accepted by journal Neurocomputing

Cultural biases in multilingual datasets pose significant challenges for their effectiveness as global benchmarks. These biases stem not only from language but also from the cultural knowledge required to interpret questions, reducing the practical utility of translated datasets like MMLU. Furthermore, translation often introduces artifacts that can distort the meaning or clarity of questions in the target language. A common practice in multilingual evaluation is to rely on machine-translated evaluation sets, but simply translating a dataset is insufficient to address these challenges. In this work, we trace the impact of both of these issues on multilingual evaluations and ensuing model performances. Our large-scale evaluation of state-of-the-art open and proprietary models illustrates that progress on MMLU depends heavily on learning Western-centric concepts, with 28% of all questions requiring culturally sensitive knowledge. Moreover, for questions requiring geographic knowledge, an astounding 84.9% focus on either North American or European regions. Rankings of model evaluations change depending on whether they are evaluated on the full portion or the subset of questions annotated as culturally sensitive, showing the distortion to model rankings when blindly relying on translated MMLU. We release Global-MMLU, an improved MMLU with evaluation coverage across 42 languages -- with improved overall quality by engaging with compensated professional and community annotators to verify translation quality while also rigorously evaluating cultural biases present in the original dataset. This comprehensive Global-MMLU set also includes designated subsets labeled as culturally sensitive and culturally agnostic to allow for more holistic, complete evaluation.

Large Language Models (LLMs) have been well-researched in various long-context tasks. However, the scarcity of high-quality long-context summarization datasets has hindered further advancements in this area. To address this, we introduce CNNSum, a multi-scale long-context summarization benchmark based on Chinese novels, featuring human-driven annotations, which comprises four subsets totaling 695 samples, with lengths ranging from 16k to 128k. We evaluate numerous LLMs and conduct detailed case analyses. Furthermore, we conduct extensive fine-tuning experiments to explore and improve long-context summarization. In our study: (1) Advanced LLMs like GPT-4o may still generate subjective commentary, leading to vague summaries. (2) Currently, long-context summarization mainly relies on memory ability afforded by longer context lengths. The advantages of Large LLMs are hard to utilize, thus small LLMs are the most cost-effective. (3) Different prompt templates paired with various version models may cause large performance gaps. In further fine-tuning, these can be mitigated, and the Base version models perform better. (4) LLMs with RoPE-base scaled exhibit strong extrapolation potential; using short-context data can significantly improve long-context summarization performance. However, further applying other interpolation methods requires careful selection. (5) CNNSum provides more reliable and insightful evaluation results than other benchmarks. Business intelligence (BI) transforms large volumes of data within modern organizations into actionable insights for informed decision-making. Recently, large language model (LLM)-based agents have streamlined the BI workflow by automatically performing task planning, reasoning, and actions in executable environments based on natural language (NL) queries. However, existing approaches primarily focus on individual BI tasks such as NL2SQL and NL2VIS. The fragmentation of tasks across different data roles and tools lead to inefficiencies and potential errors due to the iterative and collaborative nature of BI. In this paper, we introduce DataLab, a unified BI platform that integrates a one-stop LLM-based agent framework with an augmented computational notebook interface. DataLab supports a wide range of BI tasks for different data roles by seamlessly combining LLM assistance with user customization within a single environment. To achieve this unification, we design a domain knowledge incorporation module tailored for enterprise-specific BI tasks, an inter-agent communication mechanism to facilitate information sharing across the BI workflow, and a cell-based context management strategy to enhance context utilization efficiency in BI notebooks. Extensive experiments demonstrate that DataLab achieves state-of-the-art performance on various BI tasks across popular research benchmarks. Moreover, DataLab maintains high effectiveness and efficiency on real-world datasets from Tencent, achieving up to a 58.58% increase in accuracy and a 61.65% reduction in token cost on enterprise-specific BI tasks.

Quantum computing holds promise across various fields, particularly with the advent of Noisy Intermediate-Scale Quantum (NISQ) devices, which can outperform classical supercomputers in specific tasks. However, challenges such as noise and limited qubit capabilities hinder its practical applications. Variational Quantum Algorithms (VQAs) offer a viable strategy to achieve quantum advantage by combining quantum and classical computing. Leveraging on VQAs, the performance of Variational Quantum Classifiers (VQCs) is competitive with many classical classifiers. This work implements a VQC using a silicon-based quantum photonic microprocessor and a classical computer, demonstrating its effectiveness in nonlinear binary and multi-classification tasks. An efficient gradient free genetic algorithm is employed for training. The VQC's performance was evaluated on three synthetic binary classification tasks with square-, circular-, and sine-shape decision boundaries and a real-world multiclass Iris dataset. The accuracies on the three binary classification tasks were 87.5%, 92.5%, and 85.0%, respectively, and 98.8% on the real world Iris dataset, highlighting the platform's potential to handle complex data patterns.

Under stringent privacy constraints, whether federated recommendation systems can achieve group fairness remains an inadequately explored question. Taking gender fairness as a representative issue, we identify three phenomena in federated recommendation systems: performance difference, data imbalance, and preference disparity. We discover that the state-of-the-art methods only focus on the first phenomenon. Consequently, their imposition of inappropriate fairness constraints detrimentally affects the model training. Moreover, due to insufficient sensitive attribute protection of existing works, we can infer the gender of all users with 99.90% accuracy even with the addition of maximal noise. In this work, we propose Privacy-Preserving Orthogonal Aggregation (PPOA), which employs the secure aggregation scheme and quantization technique, to prevent the suppression of minority groups by the majority and preserve the distinct preferences for better group fairness. PPOA can assist different groups in obtaining their respective model aggregation results through a designed orthogonal mapping while keeping their attributes private. Experimental results on three real-world datasets demonstrate that PPOA enhances recommendation effectiveness for both females and males by up to 8.25% and 6.36%, respectively, with a maximum overall improvement of 7.30%, and achieves optimal fairness in most cases. The inclusive cross sections of prompt $J/\psi$ and $\psi(3686)$ production are measured at center-of-mass energies from 3.808 to 4.951 GeV. The dataset used is 22 fb$^{-1}$ of $e^{+}e^{-}$ annihilation data collected with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII storage ring. The results obtained are in agreement with the previous BESIII measurements of exclusive $J/\psi$ and $\psi(3686)$ production. The average values obtained for the cross sections measured in the center-of-mass energy ranges from 4.527 to 4.951 GeV for $J/\psi$ and from 4.843 to 4.951 GeV for $\psi(3686)$, where the impact of known resonances is negligible, are $14.0\pm1.7\pm3.1$ pb and $15.3\pm3.0$ pb, respectively. For $J/\psi$, the first and the second uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. For $\psi(3686)$, the uncertainty is total. In Weyl semimetals, the nonlinear planar Hall effect (NPHE) and spin-orbit torque (SOT) are prominent manifestations of nonlinear and linear charge-spin conversion, respectively. However, simultaneous investigations of these phenomena within a single material system are scarce, limiting our understanding of their intrinsic connection and underlying mechanisms. Here, we report the first simultaneous observation of NPHE and SOT in a TaIrTe4/Py heterostructure. By employing harmonic Hall measurements and developing a magnetic field-dependent method, we successfully separated the contributions from NPHE, field-like SOT, and damping-like SOT, enabling accurate characterization of both linear and nonlinear charge-spin conversion properties. Our experiments revealed significant anisotropy along the [100] and [010] crystallographic directions of TaIrTe4, with stronger nonlinear responses and field-like SOT along the [100] direction, and larger damping-like SOT along the [010] direction. The distinct directional dependence of these phenomena provides new insights into the interplay between surface and bulk contributions to charge-spin conversion in Weyl semimetals. These findings enhance our understanding of anisotropic charge-spin conversion mechanisms in Weyl semimetals, which may inform future research and development of spintronic devices based on topological materials.

Quantum coherence, a fundamental aspect of quantum mechanics, plays a crucial role in various quantum information tasks. However, preserving coherence under extreme conditions, such as relativistic acceleration, poses significant challenges. In this paper, we investigate the influence of Unruh temperature and energy levels on the evolution of maximal steered coherence (MSC) for different initial states. Our results reveal that MSC is strongly dependent on Unruh temperature, exhibiting behaviors ranging from monotonic decline to non-monotonic recovery, depending on the initial state parameter. Notably, when \Delta=1, MSC is generated as Unruh temperature increases. Additionally, we observe that higher energy levels help preserve or enhance MSC in the presence of Unruh effects. The detection of prohibited items in X-ray security inspections is vital for ensuring public safety. However, the long-tail distribution of item categories, where certain prohibited items are far less common, poses a big challenge for detection models, as rare categories often lack sufficient training data. Existing methods struggle to classify these rare items accurately due to this imbalance. In this paper, we propose a Dual-level Boost Network (DBNet) specifically designed to overcome these challenges in X-ray security screening. Our approach introduces two key innovations: (1) a specific data augmentation strategy employing Poisson blending, inspired by the characteristics of X-ray images, to generate realistic synthetic instances of rare items which can effectively mitigate data imbalance; and (2) a context-aware feature enhancement module that captures the spatial and semantic interactions between objects and their surroundings, enhancing classification accuracy for underrepresented categories. Khovanov homology has been the subject of much study in knot theory and low dimensional topology since 2000. This work introduces a Khovanov Laplacian and a Khovanov Dirac to study knot and link diagrams. The harmonic spectrum of the Khovanov Laplacian or the Khovanov Dirac retains the topological invariants of Khovanov homology, while their non-harmonic spectra reveal additional information that is distinct from Khovanov homology.

Text-to-image diffusion models have emerged as powerful priors for real-world image super-resolution (Real-ISR). However, existing methods may produce unintended results due to noisy text prompts and their lack of spatial information. In this paper, we present HoliSDiP, a framework that leverages semantic segmentation to provide both precise textual and spatial guidance for diffusion-based Real-ISR. Our method employs semantic labels as concise text prompts while introducing dense semantic guidance through segmentation masks and our proposed Segmentation-CLIP Map. Relic landslide, formed over a long period, possess the potential for reactivation, making them a hazardous geological phenomenon. While reliable relic landslide detection benefits the effective monitoring and prevention of landslide disaster, semantic segmentation using high-resolution remote sensing images for relic landslides faces many challenges, including the object visual blur problem, due to the changes of appearance caused by prolonged natural evolution and human activities, and the small-sized dataset problem, due to difficulty in recognizing and labelling the samples. To address these challenges, a semantic segmentation model, termed mask-recovering and interactive-feature-enhancing (MRIFE), is proposed for more efficient feature extraction and separation. Specifically, a contrastive learning and mask reconstruction method with locally significant feature enhancement is proposed to improve the ability to distinguish between the target and background and represent landslide semantic features. Meanwhile, a dual-branch interactive feature enhancement architecture is used to enrich the extracted features and address the issue of visual ambiguity. Self-distillation learning is introduced to leverage the feature diversity both within and between samples for contrastive learning, improving sample utilization, accelerating model convergence, and effectively addressing the problem of the small-sized dataset. The proposed MRIFE is evaluated on a real relic landslide dataset, and experimental results show that it greatly improves the performance of relic landslide detection. For the semantic segmentation task, compared to the baseline, the precision increases from 0.4226 to 0.5347, the mean intersection over union (IoU) increases from 0.6405 to 0.6680, the landslide IoU increases from 0.3381 to 0.3934, and the F1-score increases from 0.5054 to 0.5646.

Evaluating massive-scale point cloud maps in Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM) remains challenging, primarily due to the absence of unified, robust and efficient evaluation frameworks. We present MapEval, an open-source framework for comprehensive quality assessment of point cloud maps, specifically addressing SLAM scenarios where ground truth map is inherently sparse compared to the mapped environment. Through systematic analysis of existing evaluation metrics in SLAM applications, we identify their fundamental limitations and establish clear guidelines for consistent map quality assessment. Building upon these insights, we propose a novel Gaussian-approximated Wasserstein distance in voxelized space, enabling two complementary metrics under the same error standard: Voxelized Average Wasserstein Distance (AWD) for global geometric accuracy and Spatial Consistency Score (SCS) for local consistency evaluation. This theoretical foundation leads to significant improvements in both robustness against noise and computational efficiency compared to conventional metrics. Extensive experiments on both simulated and real-world datasets demonstrate that MapEval achieves at least \SI{100}{}-\SI{500}{} times faster while maintaining evaluation integrity. The entanglement of these curves plays a crucial role in determining the functionality and physical properties of materials. Many concepts in knot theory provide theoretical tools to explore the complexity and entanglement of curves in 3-space. However, classical knot theory primarily focuses on global topological properties and lacks the consideration of local structural information, which is critical in practical applications. In this work, two localized models based on the Jones polynomial, namely the multiscale Jones polynomial and the persistent Jones polynomial, are proposed. In this paper, we investigate the helicity form factors (HFFs) of the $B_{(s)}$-meson decay into a scalar meson with a mass larger than 1~GeV, {\it i.e.,} $B \to a_0(1450)$, $B_{(s)} \to K_0^*(1430)$ and $B_{s} \to f_0(1500)$ by using light-cone sum rules approach. We take the standard currents for correlation functions. To enhance the precision of our calculations, we incorporate the next-to-leading order (NLO) corrections and retain the scalar meson twist-3 light-cone distribution amplitudes. Furthermore, we extend the HFFs to the entire physical $q^2$ region employing a simplified $z$-series expansion. At the point of $q^2=1\rm{~GeV^2}$, all NLO contributions to the HFFs are negative, with the maximum contribution around $25\%$. Then, as applications of these HFFs, we analyze the differential decay widths, branching ratios, and lepton polarization asymmetries for the semi-leptonic $B_{(s)} \to S \ell \bar{\nu}_\ell$, FCNC $B_{(s)} \to S \ell \bar{\ell}$ and rare $B_{(s)} \to S \nu \bar{\nu}$ decays. Our results are consistent with existing studies within uncertainties. The edge states of a quantum spin Hall insulator exhibit helical properties, which has generated significant interest in the field of spintronics. Although it is predicted theoretically that Rashba spin-orbit coupling can effectively regulate edge state spin, experimental characterization of this spin control remains challenging. Here, we propose utilizing crossed Andreev reflection to probe the efficiency of gate voltage control on edge state spin. We calculate the transport properties of the quantum spin Hall isolators-superconductor heterojunction by using non-equilibrium Green's function method. We find that the probabilities of crossed Andreev reflection, electron transmission, and non-local conductance all include the relative spin rotation angle $\theta$ caused by the Rashba spin-orbit coupling in the helical edge states. Notably, when the incident energy is close to the superconducting gap, the differential conductance $G_2\propto-\cos{\theta}$. Thus, the influence of Rashba spin-orbit coupling on edge state spin can be quantitatively characterized by crossed Andreev reflection, which provides a feasible scheme for experimental testing.

Graph contrastive learning has been successfully applied in text classification due to its remarkable ability for self-supervised node representation learning. However, explicit graph augmentations may lead to a loss of semantics in the contrastive views. Secondly, existing methods tend to overlook edge features and the varying significance of node features during multi-graph learning. Moreover, the contrastive loss suffer from false negatives. To address these limitations, we propose a novel method of contrastive multi-graph learning with neighbor hierarchical sifting for semi-supervised text classification, namely ConNHS. Specifically, we exploit core features to form a multi-relational text graph, enhancing semantic connections among texts. By separating text graphs, we provide diverse views for contrastive learning. Our approach ensures optimal preservation of the graph information, minimizing data loss and distortion. Then, we separately execute relation-aware propagation and cross-graph attention propagation, which effectively leverages the varying correlations between nodes and edge features while harmonising the information fusion across graphs. Subsequently, we present the neighbor hierarchical sifting loss (NHS) to refine the negative selection. For one thing, following the homophily assumption, NHS masks first-order neighbors of the anchor and positives from being negatives. For another, NHS excludes the high-order neighbors analogous to the anchor based on their similarities. Consequently, it effectively reduces the occurrence of false negatives, preventing the expansion of the distance between similar samples in the embedding space. Our experiments on ThuCNews, SogouNews, 20 Newsgroups, and Ohsumed datasets achieved 95.86\%, 97.52\%, 87.43\%, and 70.65\%, which demonstrates competitive results in semi-supervised text classification., Comment: 16 pages, 6 figures

The quality and size of a pretraining dataset significantly influence the performance of large language models (LLMs). While there have been numerous efforts in the curation of such a dataset for English users, there is a relative lack of similar initiatives for Traditional Chinese. Building upon this foundation of FineWeb, we introduce FineWeb-zhtw, a dataset tailored specifically for Traditional Chinese users. We came up with multiple stages of meticulously designed filters to cater to the linguistic difference between English and Traditional Chinese, to ensure comprehensiveness and quality. We determined effectiveness from querying dataset samples with three main objectives. Our code and datasets are publicly available.

String breaking is a fundamental concept in gauge theories, describing the decay of a flux string connecting two charges through the production of particle-antiparticle pairs. This phenomenon is particularly important in particle physics, notably in Quantum Chromodynamics, and plays a crucial role in condensed matter physics. However, achieving a theoretical understanding of this non-perturbative effect is challenging, as conventional numerical approaches often fall short and require substantial computational resources. On the experimental side, studying these effects necessitates advanced setups, such as high-energy colliders, which makes direct observation difficult. Here, we report an experimental investigation of the string breaking mechanism in a one-dimensional U(1) lattice gauge theory using an optical lattice quantum simulator. By deterministically preparing initial states of varying lengths with fixed charges at each end, and adiabatically tuning the mass and string tension, we observed in situ microscopic confined phases that exhibit either string or brokenstring states. Further analysis reveals that string breaking occurs under a resonance condition, leading to the creation of new particle-antiparticle pairs. These findings offer compelling evidence of string breaking and provide valuable insights into the intricate dynamics of lattice gauge theories. Timely and precise classification and segmentation of gastric bleeding in endoscopic imagery are pivotal for the rapid diagnosis and intervention of gastric complications, which is critical in life-saving medical procedures. Traditional methods grapple with the challenge posed by the indistinguishable intensity values of bleeding tissues adjacent to other gastric structures. Our study seeks to revolutionize this domain by introducing a novel deep learning model, the Dual Spatial Kernelized Constrained Fuzzy C-Means (Deep DuS-KFCM) clustering algorithm. This Hybrid Neuro-Fuzzy system synergizes Neural Networks with Fuzzy Logic to offer a highly precise and efficient identification of bleeding regions. Implementing a two-fold coarse-to-fine strategy for segmentation, this model initially employs the Spatial Kernelized Fuzzy C-Means (SKFCM) algorithm enhanced with spatial intensity profiles and subsequently harnesses the state-of-the-art DeepLabv3+ with ResNet50 architecture to refine the segmentation output. Through extensive experiments across mainstream gastric bleeding and red spots datasets, our Deep DuS-KFCM model demonstrated unprecedented accuracy rates of 87.95%, coupled with a specificity of 96.33%, outperforming contemporary segmentation methods. The findings underscore the model's robustness against noise and its outstanding segmentation capabilities, particularly for identifying subtle bleeding symptoms, thereby presenting a significant leap forward in medical image processing.

Detailed studies of two-neutrino double electron capture (2$\nu$DEC) is a crucial step towards searching for the neutrino-less mode to explore the Majorana nature of neutrinos. We have measured precisely the half-life of the 2$\nu$DEC process in $^{124}$Xe, utilizing a total exposure of 1.73 tonne$\cdot$year from the commissioning run and the first science run of the PandaX-4T experiment. A time-dependent background model in the $\mathcal{O}$(10 keV) energy is constructed for the first time in PandaX-4T data. With an unbinned maximum likelihood fit, we determine the half-life of the 2$\nu$DEC process to be $(1.03\pm0.15_{\rm stat}\pm0.06_{\rm sys})\times 10^{22}$$\,$yr. Furthermore, we have evaluated the branching ratio for both electrons captured from the $K$ shell ($KK$) to be $(65\pm5)\%$, which aligns with the $^{124}$Xe nuclear model calculations within 1.5$\,$$\sigma$., Comment: 18 pages, 5 figures, 3 tables

Quantum mechanics empowers the emergence of quantum advantages in various fields, including quantum algorithms. Quantum PageRank is a promising tool for a future quantum internet. Recently, arbitrary phase rotations (APR) have been introduced in the underlying Szegedy's quantum walk of quantum PageRank algorithm. In this work, we thoroughly study the role APR plays in quantum PageRank. We discover the versatility resulting from quantumness. Specifically, we discover the emergence of a cluster phenomenon in rankings considering the rotation phases, i.e. the existence of similar clusters in the distribution of the rankings and their fidelity with the corresponding classical PageRanks, the ranking distribution variance, the coherence and entanglement of PageRank states, and the power law parameter in the ranking distributions on a scale-free network concerning the two rotation phases. Furthermore, we propose an alternate quantum PageRank with APR which provides an extra tunnel for the analysis of PageRank. We also study the PageRank on the trackback graph of a scale-free graph for the investigation of network information traffic tracking. We demonstrate the rich cluster diversity formed in our alternate quantum PageRank, which offers a novel perspective on the quantum versatility of PageRank. In the context of quantum electrodynamics, the decay of false vacuum leads to the production of electron-positron pair, a phenomenon known as the Schwinger effect. In practical experimental scenarios, producing a pair requires an extremely strong electric field, thus suppressing the production rate and making this process very challenging to observe. Here we report an experimental investigation, in a cold-atom quantum simulator, of the effect of the background field on pair production from the infinite-mass vacuum in a $1+1$D $\mathrm{U}(1)$ lattice gauge theory. The ability to tune the background field allows us to study pair production in a large production rate regime. Furthermore, we find that the energy spectrum of the time-evolved observables in the zero mass limit displays excitation peaks analogous to bosonic modes in the Schwinger model. Our work opens the door to quantum-simulation experiments that can controllably tune the production of pairs and manipulate their far-from-equilibrium dynamics.

The fast evolution of SARS-CoV-2 and other infectious viruses poses a grand challenge to the rapid response in terms of viral tracking, diagnostics, and design and manufacture of monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) and vaccines, which are both time-consuming and costly. This underscores the need for efficient computational approaches. Recent advancements, like topological deep learning (TDL), have introduced powerful tools for forecasting emerging dominant variants, yet they require deep mutational scanning (DMS) of viral surface proteins and associated three-dimensional (3D) protein-protein interaction (PPI) complex structures. We propose an AlphaFold 3 (AF3)-assisted multi-task topological Laplacian (MT-TopLap) strategy to address this need. MT-TopLap combines deep learning with topological data analysis (TDA) models, such as persistent Laplacians (PL) to extract detailed topological and geometric characteristics of PPIs, thereby enhancing the prediction of DMS and binding free energy (BFE) changes upon virus mutations. Validation with four experimental DMS datasets of SARS-CoV-2 spike receptor-binding domain (RBD) and the human angiotensin-converting enzyme-2 (ACE2) complexes indicates that our AF3 assisted MT-TopLap strategy maintains robust performance, with only an average 1.1% decrease in Pearson correlation coefficients (PCC) and an average 9.3% increase in root mean square errors (RMSE), compared with the use of experimental structures. Additionally, AF3-assisted MT-TopLap achieved a PCC of 0.81 when tested with a SARS-CoV-2 HK.3 variant DMS dataset, confirming its capability to accurately predict BFE changes and adapt to new experimental data, thereby showcasing its potential for rapid and effective response to fast viral evolution., Comment: 21 pages, 4 figures

Multivariate time series classification is of great importance in practical applications and is a challenging task. However, deep neural network models such as Transformers exhibit high accuracy in multivariate time series classification but lack interpretability and fail to provide insights into the decision-making process. On the other hand, traditional approaches based on decision tree classifiers offer clear decision processes but relatively lower accuracy. Swin Transformer (ST) addresses these issues by leveraging self-attention mechanisms to capture both fine-grained local patterns and global patterns. It can also model multi-scale feature representation learning, thereby providing a more comprehensive representation of time series features. To tackle the aforementioned challenges, we propose ST-Tree with interpretability for multivariate time series classification. Specifically, the ST-Tree model combines ST as the backbone network with an additional neural tree model. This integration allows us to fully leverage the advantages of ST in learning time series context while providing interpretable decision processes through the neural tree. This enables researchers to gain clear insights into the model's decision-making process and extract meaningful interpretations. In recent years, with the rapid development of augmented reality (AR) technology, there is an increasing demand for multi-user collaborative experiences. Unlike for single-user experiences, ensuring the spatial localization of every user and maintaining synchronization and consistency of positioning and orientation across multiple users is a significant challenge. In this paper, we propose a multi-user localization system based on ORB-SLAM2 using monocular RGB images as a development platform based on the Unity 3D game engine. This system not only performs user localization but also places a common virtual object on a planar surface (such as table) in the environment so that every user holds a proper perspective view of the object. These generated virtual objects serve as reference points for multi-user position synchronization. The positioning information is passed among every user's AR devices via a central server, based on which the relative position and movement of other users in the space of a specific user are presented via virtual avatars all with respect to these virtual objects. In addition, we use deep learning techniques to estimate the depth map of an image from a single RGB image to solve occlusion problems in AR applications, making virtual objects appear more natural in AR scenes.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has become essential in modern healthcare, with large language models (LLMs) offering promising advances in clinical decision-making. Traditional model-based approaches, including those leveraging in-context demonstrations and those with specialized medical fine-tuning, have demonstrated strong performance in medical language processing but struggle with real-time adaptability, multi-step reasoning, and handling complex medical tasks. Agent-based AI systems address these limitations by incorporating reasoning traces, tool selection based on context, knowledge retrieval, and both short- and long-term memory. These additional features enable the medical AI agent to handle complex medical scenarios where decision-making should be built on real-time interaction with the environment. Therefore, unlike conventional model-based approaches that treat medical queries as isolated questions, medical AI agents approach them as complex tasks and behave more like human doctors. In this paper, we study the choice of the backbone LLM for medical AI agents, which is the foundation for the agent's overall reasoning and action generation. In particular, we consider the emergent o1 model and examine its impact on agents' reasoning, tool-use adaptability, and real-time information retrieval across diverse clinical scenarios, including high-stakes settings such as intensive care units (ICUs). Our findings demonstrate o1's ability to enhance diagnostic accuracy and consistency, paving the way for smarter, more responsive AI tools that support better patient outcomes and decision-making efficacy in clinical practice.

The distributed recursion (DR) algorithm is an effective method for solving the pooling problem that arises in many applications. It is based on the well-known P-formulation of the pooling problem, which involves the flow and quality variables; and it can be seen as a variant of the successive linear programming (SLP) algorithm, where the linear programming (LP) approximation problem can be transformed from the LP approximation problem derived by using the first-order Taylor series expansion technique. In this paper, we first propose a new nonlinear programming (NLP) formulation for the pooling problem involving only the flow variables, and show that the DR algorithm can be seen as a direct application of the SLP algorithm to the newly proposed formulation. With this new useful theoretical insight, we then develop a new variant of DR algorithm, called penalty DR (PDR) algorithm, based on the proposed formulation. The proposed PDR algorithm is a penalty algorithm where violations of the (linearized) nonlinear constraints are penalized in the objective function of the LP approximation problem with the penalty terms increasing when the constraint violations tend to be large. Compared with the LP approximation problem in the classic DR algorithm, the LP approximation problem in the proposed PDR algorithm can return a solution with a better objective value, which makes it more suitable for finding high-quality solutions for the pooling problem. DarkSHINE is a newly proposed fixed-target experiment initiative to search for the invisible decay of Dark Photon via missing energy/momentum signatures, based on the high repetition rate electron beam to be deployed/delivered by the Shanghai High repetition rate XFEL and Extreme light facility (SHINE). This report elaborates the baseline design of DarkSHINE experiment by introducing the physics goals, experimental setups, details of each sub-detector system technical designs, signal and backgground modelings, expected search sensitivities and future prospects, which mark an important step towards the further prototyping and technical demonstrations.

Embodied reference understanding is crucial for intelligent agents to predict referents based on human intention through gesture signals and language descriptions. This paper introduces the Attention-Dynamic DINO, a novel framework designed to mitigate misinterpretations of pointing gestures across various interaction contexts. Our approach integrates visual and textual features to simultaneously predict the target object's bounding box and the attention source in pointing gestures. Leveraging the distance-aware nature of nonverbal communication in visual perspective taking, we extend the virtual touch line mechanism and propose an attention-dynamic touch line to represent referring gesture based on interactive distances. The combination of this distance-aware approach and independent prediction of the attention source, enhances the alignment between objects and the gesture represented line. Extensive experiments on the YouRefIt dataset demonstrate the efficacy of our gesture information understanding method in significantly improving task performance. Our model achieves 76.4% accuracy at the 0.25 IoU threshold and, notably, surpasses human performance at the 0.75 IoU threshold, marking a first in this domain. Comparative experiments with distance-unaware understanding methods from previous research further validate the superiority of the Attention-Dynamic Touch Line across diverse contexts.

Dual continuation, an innovative insight into extending the real-valued functions of real matrices to the dual-valued functions of dual matrices with a foundation of the G\^ateaux derivative, is proposed. Theoretically, the general forms of dual-valued vector and matrix norms, the remaining properties in the real field, are provided. In particular, we focus on the dual-valued vector $p$-norm $(1\!\leq\! p\!\leq\!\infty)$ and the unitarily invariant dual-valued Ky Fan $p$-$k$-norm $(1\!\leq\! p\!\leq\!\infty)$. The equivalence between the dual-valued Ky Fan $p$-$k$-norm and the dual-valued vector $p$-norm of the first $k$ singular values of the dual matrix is then demonstrated. Practically, we define the dual transitional probability matrix (DTPM), as well as its dual-valued effective information (${\rm{EI_d}}$). Additionally, we elucidate the correlation between the ${\rm{EI_d}}$, the dual-valued Schatten $p$-norm, and the dynamical reversibility of a DTPM. Through numerical experiments on a dumbbell Markov chain, our findings indicate that the value of $k$, corresponding to the maximum value of the infinitesimal part of the dual-valued Ky Fan $p$-$k$-norm by adjusting $p$ in the interval $[1,2)$, characterizes the optimal classification number of the system for the occurrence of the causal emergence.

We present a verifier of quantum programs called AutoQ 2.0. Quantum programs extend quantum circuits (the domain of AutoQ 1.0) by classical control flow constructs, which enable users to describe advanced quantum algorithms in a formal and precise manner. The extension is highly non-trivial, as we needed to tackle both theoretical challenges (such as the treatment of measurement, the normalization problem, and lifting techniques for verification of classical programs with loops to the quantum world), and engineering issues (such as extending the input format with a~support for specifying loop invariants). We have successfully used AutoQ 2.0 to verify two types of advanced quantum programs that cannot be expressed using only quantum circuits: the \emph{repeat-until-success} (RUS) algorithm and the weak-measurement-based version of Grover's search algorithm. AutoQ 2.0 can efficiently verify all our benchmarks: all RUS algorithms were verified instantly and, for the weak-measurement-based version of Grover's search, we were able to handle the case of 100 qubits in $\sim$20 minutes., Comment: regular tool paper submitted to TACAS 2025

Rapid progress in precision nanofabrication and atomic design over the past 50 years has ushered in a succession of transformative eras for molding the generation and flow of light. The use of nanoscale and atomic features to design light sources and optical elements-encapsulated by the term nanophotonics-has led to new fundamental science and innovative technologies across the entire electromagnetic spectrum, with substantial emphasis on the microwave to visible regimes. In this review, we pay special attention to the impact and potential of nanophotonics in a relatively exotic yet technologically disruptive regime: high-energy particles such as X-ray photons and free electrons-where nanostructures and atomic design open the doors to unprecedented technologies in quantum science and versatile X-ray sources and optics. As the practical generation of X-rays is intrinsically linked to the existence of energetic free or quasi-free-electrons, our review will also capture related phenomena and technologies that combine free electrons with nanophotonics, including free-electron-driven nanophotonics at other photon energies. In particular, we delve into the demonstration and study of quantum recoil in the X-ray regime, the study of nanomaterial design and free-electron wave shaping as means to enhance and control X-ray radiation, examine the free-electron generation enabled by nanophotonics, and analyze the high-harmonic generation by quasi-free electrons. We also discuss applications of quantum nanophotonics for X-rays and free electrons, including nanostructure waveguides for X-rays, photon pair enhanced X-ray imaging, mirrors, and lenses for X-rays, among others.
