We present a case of a recurrent inguinal bladder hernia that was previously unsuccessfully operated on three times and was repaired using totally extraperitoneal repair (TEP). A 79‐year‐old man presented with a right inguinal swelling that had been treated three times on the same side with anterior approaches. Computed tomography confirmed a recurrent inguinal bladder hernia. TEP was performed after identifying the bladder hernia preoperatively, with previous surgeries that used a plug‐and‐patch technique through an anterior approach. The extraperitoneal approach allowed the bladder to be reduced without injury and the hernia to be safely repaired using a 3D Max® Light Mesh. The postoperative recovery was uneventful, with no recurrence after 1 year. TEP facilitates the diagnosis and repair of bladder hernias, emphasizing the importance of preoperative diagnosis and the efficacy of endoscopic procedures in bladder hernia repair, even in recurrent cases. Physics-informed neural networks (PINNs) are emerging as a promising artificial intelligence approach for solving complex two-phase flow simulations. A critical challenge in these simulations is an accurate representation of the gas–liquid interface using interface tracking methods. While numerous studies in conventional computational fluid dynamics (CFD) have addressed this issue, there remains a notable absence of research within the context of PINNs-based two-phase flow simulations. Therefore, this study aims to develop a robust and generic PINNs for two-phase flow by incorporating the governing equations with three advanced interface tracking methods—specifically, the Volume of Fluid, Level Set, and Phase-Field method—into an improved PINN framework that has been previously proposed and validated. To further enhance the performance of the PINNs in simulating two-phase flow, the phase field constraints, residual connection and the time divide-and-conquer strategies are employed for restricting neural network training within the scope of physical laws. This self-adaptive and time divide-and-conquer (AT) PINNs is then optimized by minimizing both the residual and loss terms of partial differential equation. By incorporating the three different interface tracking methods, it efficiently handles high-order derivative terms and captures the phase interface. The case of single rising bubble in two-phase flow is simulated to validate the robustness and accuracy of the AT PINNs. The simulation's accuracy is evaluated by comparing its performance in terms of velocity, pressure, phase field, center of mass, and rising velocity with that of conventional PINNs and CFD benchmarks. The results indicate that the AT PINNs coupled with these interface tracking methods offers a satisfactory performance in simulating rising bubble phenomenon. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The oxidation behavior of IG-110, a graphite core component, was investigated at temperatures ranging from 400 to 1000°C in a 10 ppm Ar/O2 flow to simulate the oxidation process between the graphite core component and helium coolant with low O2 concentrations employed in advanced High-Temperature Gas-cooled Reactors (HTGRs). The results reveal that IG-110 undergoes significant mass loss at temperatures above 700°C, resulting in total mass changes of −1.5%, −5.3%, and −9.0% at 700, 800, and 1000°C, respectively, during a 10-hour oxidation period. No significant mass loss is observed below 600°C. To understand the oxidation mechanism of IG-110 under low O2 concentrations, we propose a kinetic model as the current chemical kinetic-controlled model does not fully explain the oxidation behavior observed in our research. Our analysis shows lower estimated reaction rates compared to studies at higher O2 concentrations; the activation energy values exhibit good agreement. The proposed kinetic model sheds light on the oxidation mechanism of IG-110 under 10 ppm Ar/O2 flow. This study provides new insights into the oxidation behavior of graphite core components in HTGRs and highlights the importance of controlling the O2 concentration in the helium coolant to prevent severe degradation of SiC-matrix fuel compacts. Cytidine diphosphate diacylglycerol (CDP-DAG) is a critical intermediate that is converted to multiple phospholipids in prokaryotes and eukaryotes. In budding yeast, CDP-DAG synthesis from cytidine triphosphate (CTP) and phosphatidic acid (PA) is catalyzed by the membrane-integrated protein Cds1 in the endoplasmic reticulum and the peripheral membrane-bound protein Tam41 in mitochondria. Although a recent study revealed that the fission yeast SpTam41 consists of a nucleotidyltransferase domain and a winged helix domain, forming an active-site pocket for CTP binding between the two domains together with a C-terminal amphipathic helix for membrane association, how CTP and Mg 2+, a most-favoured divalent cation, are accommodated with PA remains obscure. A more recent report by Kimura et al. (J. Biochem. 2022; 171:429–441) solved the crystal structure of FbTam41, a functional ortholog from a Firmicutes bacterium, with CTP-Mg 2+, successfully providing a detailed molecular view of CDP-DAG synthesis.
