Objectives Health systems that apply artificial intelligence (AI) are transforming the roles of healthcare providers, including those of Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) providers. These professionals are required to utilize informatics knowledge and skills to deliver quality care, necessitating a high level of informatics competencies, which should be developed through well-structured courses. The purpose of this study is to assess the informatics competency scale scores of DNP students and to provide recommendations for enhancing the informatics curriculum. Methods An online informatics course was offered to students enrolled in a Bachelor of Science in Nursing to DNP program, and their informatics competency, which includes three subscales, was evaluated. Online survey data were collected from Fall 2021 to Fall 2022 using the “Self-Assessment of Informatics Competency Scale for Health Professionals.” Results An analysis of 127 student responses revealed that students demonstrated competence in overall informatics competency and in one subscale: “applied computer skills (clinical informatics).” They showed proficiency in the “basic computer skills” and the “role” subscales. However, they reported lower competency in managing data and integrating standard terminology into their practice. Conclusions The findings offer detailed insights into the current informatics competencies of DNP students and can inform informatics educators on how to enhance their courses. As healthcare institutions increasingly depend on AI applications, it is imperative for informatics educators to include AI-related content in their curricula.

Objectives Education in biomedical and health informatics is essential for managing complex healthcare systems, bridging the gap between healthcare and information technology, and adapting to the digital requirements of the healthcare industry. This review presents the current status of biomedical and health informatics education domestically and internationally and proposes recommendations for future development. Methods We analyzed evidence from reports and papers to explore global trends and international and domestic examples of education. The challenges and future strategies in Korea were also discussed based on the experts’ opinions. Results This review presents international recommendations for establishing education in biomedical and health informatics, as well as global examples at the undergraduate and graduate levels in medical and nursing education. It provides a thorough examination of the best practices, strategies, and competencies in informatics education. The review also assesses the current state of medical informatics and nursing informatics education in Korea. We highlight the challenges faced by academic institutions and conclude with a call to action for educators to enhance the preparation of professionals to effectively utilize technology in any healthcare setting. Conclusions To adapt to the digitalization of healthcare, systematic and continuous workforce development is essential. Future education should prioritize curriculum innovations and the establishment of integrated education programs, focusing not only on students but also on educators and all healthcare personnel in the field. Addressing these challenges requires collaboration among educational institutions, academic societies, government agencies, and international bodies dedicated to systematic and continuous workforce development.

This study aimed to evaluate the correlation between nursing informatics (NI) competency and information literacy skills for evidence-based practice (EBP) among intensive care nurses. This cross-sectional study was conducted on 184 nurses working in intensive care units (ICUs). The study data were collected through demographic information, Nursing Informatics Competency Assessment Tool (NICAT), and information literacy skills for EBP questionnaires. The intensive care nurses received competent and low-moderate levels for the total scores of NI competency and information literacy skills, respectively. They received a moderate score for the use of different information resources but a low score for information searching skills, different search features, and knowledge about search operators, and only 31.5% of the nurses selected the most appropriate statement. NI competency and related subscales had a significant direct bidirectional correlation with information literacy skills for EBP and its subscales (P < 0.05). Nurses require a high level of NI competency and information literacy for EBP to obtain up-to-date information and provide better care and decision-making. Health planners and policymakers should develop interventions to enhance NI competency and information literacy skills among nurses and motivate them to use EBP in clinical settings.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of different teaching methods of geriatric nursing on the mastery of geriatric knowledge among nursing students and their attitude toward the elderly. Methods: Relevant randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and quasi-experimental studies on teaching methods to improve nursing students' knowledge and attitude were systematically retrieved in electronic databases. The time scale of retrieval spans from the database establishment to January 2024, and the database consists of PubMed, the Cochrane Library, Web of Science, Embase, China National Knowledge Infrastructure Database (CNKI), China Biological literature database (CBM), Wanfang Database and VIP Database. Network meta-analysis was performed by Stata 16.0 software. Results: Thirty-nine studies involving 5310 nursing students met our inclusion criteria, and a total of 6 teaching methods were analyzed. According to the surface under the cumulative ranking (SUCRA) ranking, problem-based learning (PBL) was most effective in enhancing the knowledge mastery of geriatric nursing, while simulation-based learning (SBL) demonstrated the best application effect in improving nursing students' attitude toward the elderly. When considering both knowledge acquisition and attitude improvement simultaneously, service learning combined with traditional teaching method (SL+TTM) was found to exhibit the most optimal effectiveness. Conclusion: Educators in geriatric nursing education should prioritize the adoption of PBL, SBL and SL + TTM to enhance nursing students' knowledge and attitude. Introduction and aims: In the specialized nursing setting, nurses are susceptible to developing negative mental health issues. Such conditions among nurses can potentially result in unfavorable medical outcomes. Consequently, this study aims to explore the role of social support in regulating between sleep and mental health in nurses. Methods: A cross-sectional study was carried out in September 2022 on 1219 nurses in Quanzhou. The study comprised general demographic information and utilized various questionnaires, namely the Social Support Rate Scale (SSRS), Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index Questionnaire (PSQI), Generalized Anxiety Disorder Questionnaire (GAD-7), and Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9). The data analysis was performed using t-tests, ANOVAs, Pearsons correlations and hierarchical regression analyses in SPSS software. Results: Results show that significant associations of sleep quality and social support with anxiety and depression. Simple slope analysis shows that under low levels of social support, sleep quality has a positive impact on anxiety(β = 0.598) and depression(β = 0.851), and the impact is significant. Under high levels of social support, sleep quality also has a positive impact on anxiety(β = 0.462) and depression(β = 0.578), but the impact is smaller. This indicates that as the level of social support increases, the positive predictive effect of sleep quality on anxiety and depression gradually diminishes. Conclusions: Social support has the potential to alter the impact of sleep quality on anxiety and depression. Critical realism is a framework that explains causations of observable events. It is useful in exploring and explaining complex nursing phenomena. It is grounded in the stratification of reality and the understanding that the world is complex, open, and has interactions that support or cancel each other whether we observe it or not. It can be used as a theoretical foundation of case study approach, an in-depth inquiry that seeks to understand a particular phenomenon within specific settings. This paper introduces the basic concepts of critical realism and how it can inform a qualitative case study methodology. To support this approach, we present a study on caregiving experiences for older people with dementia from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds which we believe highlights the value of combining critical realism and case study to inform future nursing research. Physical inactivity is a growing societal concern with significant impact on public health. Identifying barriers to engaging in physical activity (PA) is a critical step to recognize populations who disproportionately experience these barriers. Understanding barriers to PA holds significant importance within patient-facing healthcare professions like nursing. While determinants of PA have been widely studied, connecting individual and social factors to barriers to PA remains an understudied area among nurses. The objectives of this study are to categorize and model factors related to barriers to PA using the National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities (NIMHD) Research Framework. The study population includes nursing students at the study institution (N = 163). Methods include a scoring system to quantify the barriers to PA, and regularized regression models that predict this score. Key findings identify intrinsic motivation, social and emotional support, education, and the use of health technologies for tracking and decision-making purposes as significant predictors. Results can help identify future nursing workforce populations at risk of experiencing barriers to PA. Encouraging the development and employment of health-informatics solutions for monitoring, data sharing, and communication is critical to prevent barriers to PA before they become a powerful hindrance to engaging in PA. Background: Although the nursing sector gains growing importance in an aging society, students representing the future workforce often show insufficient health. Acknowledging the health-enhancing effects of adequate physical activity, the educational system in Bavaria, Germany, has recently integrated the promotion of physical activity-related health competence (PAHCO) into the nursing curriculum. However, it cannot be assumed that PAHCO has sufficiently permeated the educational practices and routines of the nursing schools. Therefore, the goal of the present study is to examine and compare the effectiveness as well as implementation of different intervention approaches to address PAHCO in the Bavarian nursing school system. Methods: We randomly assign 16 nursing schools (cluster-based) to four study arms (bottom-up, top-down led by teachers, top down led by external physical activity experts, control group). Schools in intervention group 1 (IG-1) develop multicomponent inventions to target PAHCO via cooperative planning (preparation, planning, and implementation phase). Intervention groups 2 and 3 (IG-2, IG-3) receive both an expert-based intervention (developed through intervention mapping) via trained mediators to address PAHCO. External physical activity experts deliver the structured PAHCO intervention in IG-2, while teachers from the nursing schools themselves conduct the PAHCO intervention in IG-3. In line with a hybrid effectiveness implementation trial, we apply questionnaire-based pre-post measurements across all conditions (sample size calculation: nfinal = 636) to examine the effectiveness of the intervention approaches and, simultaneously, draw on questionnaires, interview, and protocol data to examine their implementation. We analyze quantitative effectiveness data via linear models (times-group interaction), and implementation data using descriptive distributions and content analyses. Conclusion: The study enables evidence-based decisions about the suitability of three intervention approaches to promote competencies for healthy, physically active lifestyles among nursing students. Introduction Design Methods Results Conclusion Clinical Relevance Home healthcare (HHC) enables patients to receive healthcare services within their homes to manage chronic conditions and recover from illnesses. Recent research has identified disparities in HHC based on race or ethnicity. Social determinants of health (SDOH) describe the external factors influencing a patient's health, such as access to care and social support. Individuals from racially or ethnically minoritized communities are known to be disproportionately affected by SDOH. Existing evidence suggests that SDOH are documented in clinical notes. However, no prior study has investigated the documentation of SDOH across individuals from different racial or ethnic backgrounds in the HHC setting. This study aimed to (1) describe frequencies of SDOH documented in clinical notes by race or ethnicity and (2) determine associations between race or ethnicity and SDOH documentation.Retrospective data analysis.We conducted a cross‐sectional secondary data analysis of 86,866 HHC episodes representing 65,693 unique patients from one large HHC agency in New York collected between January 1, 2015, and December 31, 2017. We reported the frequency of six SDOH (physical environment, social environment, housing and economic circumstances, food insecurity, access to care, and education and literacy) documented in clinical notes across individuals reported as Asian/Pacific Islander, Black, Hispanic, multi‐racial, Native American, or White. We analyzed differences in SDOH documentation by race or ethnicity using logistic regression models.Compared to patients reported as White, patients across other racial or ethnic groups had higher frequencies of SDOH documented in their clinical notes. Our results suggest that race or ethnicity is associated with SDOH documentation in HHC.As the study of SDOH in HHC continues to evolve, our results provide a foundation to evaluate social information in the HHC setting and understand how it influences the quality of care provided.The results of this exploratory study can help clinicians understand the differences in SDOH across individuals from different racial and ethnic groups and serve as a foundation for future research aimed at fostering more inclusive HHC documentation practices. • We surveyed 2,144 US PCPs who worked with vaccine champions. • About half (49%) of PCPs perceived their closest champion as highly effective. • PCPs more often rated APPs and nurses as highly effective than physicians (p <.001). • Using many vs fewer improvement strategies correlated with perceived effectiveness. • Other correlates were formal vs informal champion roles and closer work ties. Vaccine champions are common in primary care, but little is known about which champions are effective. In 2022, we surveyed 2,144 US primary care professionals (PCPs) who reported working with vaccine champions. Respondents rated the champion with whom they worked most closely on their effectiveness at improving vaccination rates. About half (49 %) of PCPs perceived their closest champion as highly effective. PCPs perceived advanced practice providers and nursing staff as highly effective somewhat more often than physicians (52 % and 58 % vs 43 %, p <.001). Other correlates of perceived effectiveness included being a formally appointed versus informal champion, working extremely versus less closely with PCPs, and using a high (4–5) versus low (0–1) number of implementation strategies to improve vaccination rates (all p <. 001). Results suggest vaccine champions may benefit from having formal roles and opportunities to work closely with colleagues to improve vaccination rates using multiple strategies. Evidence-based practice (EBP) is a clinical decision-making process that is grounded in the utilization of the most reliable and up-to-date evidence. It involves utilizing resources and evidence to enhance patient management. The application of evidence-based decisions in patient care and education is of utmost importance in the performance of health sciences students. However, the emphasis on this concept among operating room nursing students has been lacking. Hence, the objective of this research is to assess the implementation of evidence-based practice among operating room nursing students studying in the operating room department at the Shiraz University of Medical Sciences in Iran. The study follows a descriptive, cross-sectional design, with a sample of 148 operating room nursing students selected through census sampling based on the student list. After obtaining informed consent, participants completed a demographic information form and the Rubin–Parrish evidence-based practice questionnaire. The data that were gathered underwent analysis through the utilization of SPSS version 22 software, employing descriptive statistics, T-tests, and Pearson correlation coefficient tests. The results revealed that the overall average score of evidence-based practice among the students exceeded the standard scores (172.66 ± 14.74). There was a significant association between the evidence-based practice score and prior familiarity with evidence-based practice, interest in the field of study, research experience, intention to participate in the Master's exam, and the participants' grade point average (GPA) (p < 0.05). These findings indicate that operating room nursing students displayed an average level of evidence-based practice, emphasizing the need for effective plans and strategies to improve their performance. The purpose of the present paper is to map the characteristics of scientific papers related to culinary arts education and the competencies models theory. The methodology consists of co-word, co-citation, citation, coauthor bibliometric analysis, and the generation of visual maps on VOSviewer software. The results found 17 publications, 12 journals, 37 authors, 9 countries, 46 keywords, and 623 references. Scopus database is the one that shows more results; the search terms are competencies and culinary arts. The most critical years are in terms of the number of published papers, 2016 and 2017. The leading journals are The Culinary Science & Technology and Hospitality & Tourism Education. The research on the theme is based on subjects' labor relations, in the context in which they perform their training. American authors lead the ranking of publications, but they are not the most cited ones, no relationship is found in the institutional links of these authors. The contribution that this bibliometric study presents acts as a support for future research in order to avoid mistakes regarding the use of scattered terms, database choice, methods gaps, main references, and the main authors about competencies models theory on culinary arts education. Nurses are required to adapt to a complex and rapidly evolving environment that incorporates new IT technologies. Continuing, lifelong learning, especially in the fast-growing fields of Nursing Informatics, eHealth and related Information and Communication Technologies, is vital to the professionalism of nurses. The study presents the curriculum development and implementation of the educational project entitled “Training of Nurses in Nursing Informatics and Information and Communication Technologies (ICT)” which has been designed and offered to Greek nurses as a continuing – lifelong online educational program by the Health Informatics Laboratory of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. The training material was created in three modules and 29 sub-modules, considering the new advancements and recommended competencies, necessary for the nurse, in the fields of Nursing Informatics and ICT. So far, eight training cycle courses have been offered to 1388 nurses, free of charge. Each course integrates synchronous and asynchronous distance learning methods and requires a workload of 70 hours over 10 weeks. Background: While research on meditative mindfulness in nursing is abundant, research on socio-cognitive mindfulness is in its early stages despite its potential advantages to nursing practice and nursing education. This study introduces the under-examined concept of socio-cognitive mindfulness to the nursing field. Objective: To identify what is known in the research field of socio-cognitive mindfulness in nursing. Specific aims were to identify the effects of socio-cognitive mindfulness on nurses and nursing students, and the application of socio-cognitive mindfulness interventions and their effectiveness in nursing. Design: A scoping review following the Arksey and O'Malley framework. Methods: An electronic search of PubMed, EMBASE, Cochrane Library, CINAHL, Web of Science, ERIC, and ProQuest databases was conducted. The search included full-text papers published in peer-reviewed journals in English. The included studies were independently examined by the two authors to ensure the thorough inclusion of relevant research by screening of titles and abstracts and screening of full-texts. The selected papers were categorized based on the specific objectives of the review. Results: Out of 5,798 papers, six quantitative studies and one mixed method study were included in the review. Among the seven studies, two studies investigated the effects of socio-cognitive mindfulness on nurses, four examined the effects of socio-cognitive mindfulness on nursing students, and one conducted an intervention study applying socio-cognitive mindfulness and identified its effects on nurses. The findings revealed several benefits of applying socio-cognitive mindfulness to nursing practice and nursing education. Specifically, socio-cognitive mindfulness enhanced nurses' and nursing students' positive emotions and effective emotion regulation, which would positively influence nurses' nursing performance as well as students' academic outcomes and quality of college life. Conclusions: This study raises researchers' awareness of the significance of socio-cognitive mindfulness in nursing, and strongly recommends applying socio-cognitive mindfulness to nursing practice and nursing education and evaluating its effects. Background. After the COVID-19 pandemic, the online style of instruction started to replace the traditional style in Jordan. Aims. This study aims to (1) assess the nursing students' perceived obstacles to online learning in Jordan; (2) explore significant relationships between participants' characteristics and their perceived obstacles; and (3) assess for significant differences in the perceived obstacles based on participants' characteristics. Methods. A cross-sectional, descriptive design was utilized in this study. A convenient sample of 325 nursing students responded to a self-reported questionnaire utilizing Google Forms. Both descriptive and inferential statistics were used to analyze the dataset using the SPSS software. Results. The mean scores of the obstacles to online learning were 2.94 (SD = 0.95) for the academic obstacles subscale, 2.90 (SD = 0.83) for the technological obstacles subscale, and 3.25 (SD = 1.00) for the administrative obstacles subscale. Significant associations were found between participants' characteristics and perceived obstacles to online learning. For instance, the type of university was significantly associated with academic (r = −0.32, p < 0.01), technological (r = −0.21, p < 0.01), and administrative obstacles (r = −0.32, p < 0.01). Furthermore, significant differences were found in the perceived obstacles based on the participants' demographic and studentship-related characteristics. Conclusions. According to their perceptions of online learning, nursing students in Jordan face three types of obstacles: academic, technical, and administrative. Introduction: The number of patients with chronic kidney disease is increasing worldwide; previous studies have suggested that advanced practice nurses, including nurse practitioners and clinical nurse specialists, with expert practice skills can provide high-quality care and solve complex healthcare problems. In general, nurse practitioners are generalist nurses who work as autonomous clinicians with whole personal care. Clinical nurse specialists, in contrast, are nurses with advanced nursing knowledge and skills for individuals or specific populations. Their roles are independent and different; however, similarities exist in their role in potentially improving healthcare outcomes. Although two previous studies described the role of nephrology nurse practitioners, they were systematic reviews, and their outcomes were limited. To clarify the overall aspect of advanced practice nurses' role, it is necessary to extract the studies illustrating advanced practice nurses' practices for patients with chronic kidney disease. Objective: This study aims to map the literature describing the role of advanced practice nurses in improving healthcare outcomes for patients with chronic kidney disease. Materials and methods: This scoping review will be conducted using the Joanna Briggs Institute methodology for scoping review. Online databases will be searched across MEDLINE (PubMed), CINAHL (EBSCOhost), Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, and Web of Science. Only studies published in English will be included, and no date limit will be set. Chronic kidney disease, renal replacement therapy, and advanced practice nurses as keywords and related search terms will be used. Two independent reviewers will screen the title and abstract/full-text; in case of discrepancy, a third reviewer will make the final decision. The results will be extracted and presented following the review question concerning the study characteristics, patients' characteristics, condition of chronic kidney disease, and role of advanced practice nurses. The COVID-19 pandemic led to the closure of educational campuses and the suspension of conventional classroom teaching globally and locally, and many switched overnight to an online modality. The change was experienced differently by varied audiences, given the availability of resources. The study aimed to examine stakeholders' experiences of emergency remote instructions in the Post-RN Baccalaureate Nursing Program during the COVID-19 pandemic. A qualitative descriptive exploratory design with a purposive sampling technique was used at a private nursing university in Karachi, Pakistan. Focus group discussions with students and faculty were conducted separately, while in-depth interviews with key informants were held using semi-structured interview guides. The focus group discussions and in-depth interviews were recorded electronically and transcribed and translated, coded, and analysed manually. Findings uncovered two major themes. (a) Remote teaching and learning—a paradigm shift; and (b) Remote learning ecosystem—a challenging team sport. The first theme denotes a major shift in pedagogical approach migrating from blended learning model to a complete online modality. Theme two uncovers the efforts and teamwork of the various stakeholders who assisted in mitigating the challenges collaboratively when migrating to virtual learning environment. Findings suggest that to continue to thrive in the post-COVID world, faculty, students, and key informants must collegially enhance the teaching, learning, and assessment strategies and student-teacher interaction, capitalising on evidence-based practices, trial and error, multi-level support mechanisms, and partnerships. The study recommends building resilience in instructional and administrative infrastructure to prepare for future events like pandemics and suggests development of evidence-informed blended and online nursing programmes in the region. Background: Breastfeeding brings about a positive impact on both child and maternal health in the short and long terms. However, adolescent mothers have a lower breastfeeding initiation rate and a shorter breastfeeding duration than adult mothers. Although mobile applications have been found to be the most widely used platform for breastfeeding support, there is still a lack of design specific for adolescents. Aim: To explore the experiences, perspectives and needs of adolescent mothers and professional nurses using smartphone applications for breastfeeding support and the influence of this technology on healthcare in Thailand. Methods: This formative qualitative research of the 'Development of smartphone application for promoting breastfeeding and learning of infant responsiveness for Thai teenage pregnant women' study intends to design a smartphone application and develop an implementation plan. A purposive sample was used to elicit experiences from adolescent mothers and nurses. Data were collected from 48 adolescent mothers through in-depth interviews with six focus group discussions and 12 nurses, following the data saturation principle. Thematic analysis was conducted, and potential factors and needs were mapped to the capability, opportunity, and motivation model of behaviour change (COM-B). Results: Most adolescent mothers perceived the usefulness of smartphone apps as breastfeeding support resources. The qualitative findings of adolescent mothers were grouped into the following three themes: a friendly breastfeeding tool; allows them to manage their breastfeeding activities; and enhances the accessibility and equality of breastfeeding support. The professional nurses perceived the benefits of using smartphone applications in their work, which included the following three themes: reducing workload and making their work easier; preparation is always better; and increasing the standards of breastfeeding support. Conclusion: Adolescent mothers and professional nurses showed favourable attitudes toward smartphone apps for breastfeeding support. Background & Objective: As the healthcare landscape undergoes transformation and information technology and digital health continue to advance, the significance of nursing informatics has come to the forefront. This has emphasized the need to enhance the quality of the curriculum, required competencies, and to draw comparisons with successful programs globally. The study aimed to compare the master's curriculum in nursing informatics at Tehran University of Medical Sciences with that of the University of Maryland. Materials & Methods: Conducted in 2022, this comparative study utilized the Bereday model across four stages: description, interpretation, juxtaposition, comparison. The University of Maryland was selected for comparison due to its global reputation as a leading institution in nursing informatics. The study encompassed an examination of the overall structure, curriculum, mission, professional roles, and admission conditions. Results: The curricula of both universities exhibited substantial similarities in more than half of the cases. Consistencies were observed in mission-vision statements and student acceptance criteria. However, variations between the two institutions emerged in terms of class types, details regarding the number of courses, and the definition of professional roles. Background & Objective: It is essential to identify and find solutions to reduce professional misconduct among nurses that affect the satisfaction of patients and nurses, improve the work environment, and guide educational programs. Explaining the experiences of nursing students would also help in future studies of the issue. Therefore, this study was conducted to explain the perception of nursing students towards professional misconduct in interaction with nurses. Materials & Methods: This qualitative study was conducted with the conventional content analysis design from April to November 2022 at Alborz University of Medical Sciences, Alborz, Iran. The data were collected through semi-structured interviews with 15 senior nursing students who were selected by purposive sampling method. The gathered data were analyzed in MAXQDA20 software using the Elo and Kyngas inductive approach. Results: Data analysis led to the formation of 83 open codes, 12 sub-categories, and 4 categories (themes), namely "conscious omission", "unsympathetic atmosphere", "unfavorable environment", and "ineffective training". Recording unrealistic reports, neglecting patients and their training, and care discrimination belonged to the "conscious omission" category. Enslavement, disrespect, discrimination, lack of organizational trust, and poor interaction with the patient and family formed the subclasses of an "unsympathetic atmosphere". The "unfavorable environment" category was constituted of two subcategories of overcrowded wards and lack of facilities and equipment, and two subcategories of insufficient academic education and lack of role models were the constituents of the "ineffective training" category. Conclusion: Nursing students are facing professional misconduct at the bedside. Failure to perform professional duties efficiently was the most prominent example of perceived unprofessional behavior. Despite the importance of the influence of the environment and resources in development of unprofessional behavior, the absence of ethical role models in the clinical environment was considered an extremely serious factor in the emergence and incidence of professional misconduct. The findings revealed that creating a favorable environment and continuous training in the principles of professional ethics were effective in reducing the occurrence of professional misconduct. Background & Objective: The increased use of electronic resources in education has necessitated the transformation of traditional teaching methods into modern educational technologies. The present study aimed to compare the effects of inquiry-based learning (IBL) and smartphone-based application learning (SBAL) on clinical performance self-efficacy (CPSE) of undergraduate nursing students in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). Materials & Methods: This quasi-experimental study was conducted at the NICU of Urmia University of Medical Sciences in Urmia, Iran, between September 2020 and February 2021. A convenience sampling method was used to select 64 undergraduate nursing students who were assigned to three groups. The SBAL group (n=21) and the IBL group (n=22) received six training sessions (60 minutes each session) along with conventional clinical education, while the control group (n=21) received conventional clinical education. All groups completed the CPSE scale before and after their internship. Data were analyzed in SPSS software (version 24) using statistical tests, including Chi-square, paired t-test, ANOVA, Kruskal-Wallis, and Bonferroni multiple comparisons. A p-value of less than 0.05 was considered statistically significant. Results: The mean increase in the total CPSE score was significantly different among the three groups (P<0.001). The SBAL (P<0.001) and IBL (P<0.001) groups demonstrated a more marked increase in the CPSE score compared to the control group. In addition, the increase in scores in all CPSE domains was higher in the intervention groups trained by SBAL (P<0.001) and IBL (P<0.01) compared to the control group. Nonetheless, there was no significant difference in the increase in CPSE scores between the SBAL and IBL groups (P>0.05). Conclusion: The findings of this study suggested that both SBAL and IBL can enhance the CPSE of nursing students undergoing conventional clinical training. Nevertheless, no significant difference was observed between the two methods in terms of improving the selfefficacy of clinical performance. Only 6% (n = 5) of the participants reported having formal training in digital health. Digital health was mainly taught as a module (n = 57, 45.9%), and assessments of theory or practical application of digital health in the nursing curriculum were uncommon, with 79 (69.9%) responding that there was no digital health assessment in their entry to practice nursing programs. Among the four core digital health themes, the participants rated high on knowledge of digital professionalism (22.4% significant knowledge vs. 5.9% no knowledge) but low on information exchange (30% significant knowledge vs. 28.3% no knowledge). Statistically significant (p < .001) associations were found between different themes of digital health knowledge and the level of confidence in teaching its application. Nursing academics with more than 15 years of teaching experience had a significantly higher level of knowledge and confidence in teaching digital health content compared with those with fewer years of teaching experience.There is a significant gap in nursing academics' knowledge and confidence to teach digital health theory and its application in nursing. In the field of healthcare delivery, shared decision making (SDM) refers to a collaborative process, wherein both patients and the healthcare professionals mutually work to make informed and consensus decisions with reference to the kind of medical care that will be administered to patients. In the field of health care, cultural competency refers to the ability of healthcare professionals to acknowledge, respect, and accordingly respond to the varied needs, beliefs, values, and practices followed by persons and the communities they serve. The purpose of the current review is to explore the role of cultural factors and trauma experience, and identify the strategies that can be employed to train and assess medical students in cultural competency pertaining to trauma patients. An extensive search of all materials related to the topic was carried out on the PubMed and Google Scholar search engines and a total of 21 articles were selected based on their suitability with the current review objectives. Cultural factors play a defining role in determining the experiences of trauma patients, and how these patients and family members perceive, cope, and recover from such traumatic events. To meet the diverse needs of the community, the medical curriculum has to be flexible and must include the component of cultural competency. Like any other domain, medical educators must plan for the assessment of cultural competencies while delivering trauma education, as it will provide insights into the readiness of the students to deliver culturally sensitive and effective care to trauma patients. The aim of this paper is to exhibit a bibliometric analysis of systems thinking research in the field of education. A total of 1020 articles from 459 sources indexed in the Web of Science (WoS) database in the years 1984-2022 were used in the analysis. The analysis aims to provide a review of systems thinking research in education by identifying the dynamics of research by presenting a wide in-depth knowledge concerning the periodical process, current situation, and future directions. Research on systems thinking has been acknowledged to demonstrate a significant increase in recent years. Bibliometric data proves that systems thinking research concerning educational studies exhibits a parallel increase too. This is mainly due to UNESCO’s declaration of “The Education for 2030 Framework for Action” in 2015. There, systems thinking was defined as a key competency among eight competencies for education for sustainable development. The analysis suggests that systems thinking research in education is mainly directed to subjects of science education and related fields. Although the current research view does not demonstrate an extensive collaboration among researchers worldwide, researchers can be said to acknowledge each other's work sufficiently. Backgrounds: With the advent of the big data era, hospital information systems and mobile care systems, among others, generate massive amounts of medical data. Data mining, as a powerful information processing technology, can discover non-obvious information by processing large-scale data and analyzing them in multiple dimensions. How to find the effective information hidden in the database and apply it to nursing clinical practice has received more and more attention from nursing researchers. Aim: To look over the articles on data mining in nursing, compiled research status, identified hotspots, highlighted research trends, and offer recommendations for how data mining technology might be used in the nursing area going forward. Methods: Data mining in nursing publications published between 2002 and 2023 were taken from the Web of Science Core Collection. CiteSpace was utilized for reviewing the number of articles, countries/regions, institutions, journals, authors, and keywords. Results: According to the findings, the pace of data mining in nursing progress is not encouraging. Nursing data mining research is dominated by the United States and China. However, no consistent core group of writers or organizations has emerged in the field of nursing data mining. Studies on data mining in nursing have been increasingly gradually conducted in the 21st century, but the overall number is not large. In response to findings indicating poor standardisation and quality in nursing documentation, NHS Wales embarked on a transformative journey with the National Electronic Nursing Documentation Programme in 2014. Evolving into the Welsh Nursing Care Record (WNCR) by 2019, this initiative sought to streamline practices and enhance accuracy, compliance, and efficiency through a standardised digital platform. The case study explores the comprehensive project design, emphasising evidence-based practices, governance processes and the introduction of National Nursing Informatics roles. Accomplished from April 2021 to September 2023, the WNCR implementation achieved a 79% roll out across eligible wards, marked by strategic investments, robust training, and phased deployment. Evaluations to date show positive impacts on key performance indicators, exemplified by a 9-minute time saving per patient. My Strengths My Health (MSMH) is a simplified version of the Omaha System developed for the use of patients and their caregivers. Its main objective is to enable a whole-person assessment with the participation of the patients in understanding the concepts that comprise their care plan. Since 2021, we joined a worldwide initiative to translate MSMH to other languages and this paper reports the Brazilian experience in 3 stages, developed from January 2022 to December 2023: translation and back translation of terms, its validation by freshman nursing students and its adoption by patients at an outpatient facility. Among the results, we highlight the patients' comments on the perceived ease of use of the system. MSMH adoption by caregivers and populations of different cultures and languages can amplify the comprehension of biological, psychological, social, spiritual and environmental determinants of health worldwide specially if issues on digital health literacy are considered. The design of digital health information systems around a conflated gender/sex binary contributes to health inequities. Lack of specific information that supports affirming communication lead to inappropriate care, disrespectful encounters with healthcare staff, and avoidance of health services by clients who have been harmed by misgendering, deadnaming and being outed. This study investigates the evolving landscape of nursing informatics by conducting a follow-up survey initiated by the International Medical Informatics Association (IMIA) Students and Emerging Professionals (SEP) Nursing Informatics (NI) group in 2015 and 2019. The participants were asked to describe what they thought should be done in their institutions and countries to advance nursing informatics in the next 5-10 years. For this paper, responses in English acquired by December 2023 were analysed using inductive content analysis. Hospital-acquired falls are a continuing clinical concern. The emergence of advanced analytical methods, including NLP, has created opportunities to leverage nurse-generated data, such as clinical notes, to better address the problem of falls. In this nurse-driven study, we employed an iterative process for expert manual annotation of RNs clinical notes to enable the training and testing of an NLP pipeline to extract factors related to falls. The resulting annotated data corpus had moderately high interrater reliability (F-score=0.74) and captured a breadth of clinical concepts for extraction with potential utility beyond patient falls. A range of approaches have been used to develop and evaluate terminology mapping. In seeking to enhance existing methods this exploratory feasibility study examined a small subset of existing equivalency mappings between the International Classification for Nursing Practice and SNOMED CT. To identify potential inconsistencies in allocation, comparisons were made for each concept in each equivalency mapping, through a manual review of a) compositionality and specificity of asserted and inherited relationships, and b) ancestors through to root. There were similarities and several differences across the mappings which were both structural and definitional in nature. In order to demonstrate practical utility, the approach piloted in the present study might benefit from scaling up and a degree of automation. However, the study has demonstrated it is both feasible and potentially useful when evaluating terminology mapping to go beyond the surface language of mapped terms, and to consider the deeper definitional features ofthe underlying concepts. Situation awareness (SA) is an important non-technical skill for nurses. Nurses interact directly with patients and review their clinical signs. If we improve nurses' SA, they will likely detect clinical changes and prevent patient harm. A clinical endeavor that can benefit from improved nurses' SA is the prevention of Healthcare-Acquired Urinary Tract Infection (HAUTI). Electronic Health Records contain comprehensive nursing assessment data that researchers can use to analyze trends and provide a context-based understanding of the infection risk factors. We conducted a study that involved extracting nursing assessment data and preparing it for supervised learning algorithms and predicting HAUTI. A more complete conceptual model of the social determinants of health (SDOH) screening and referral process is needed to identify effective interventions to address unmet social needs that impact health outcomes. The objective was to develop an evidence-based, complex, multi-factorial model that makes explicit the behaviors and experiences of both patients and the care team (factors) who use an SDOH platform to facilitate patient connections to community resources. The resulting model organized 88 factors among five main stages in the process and among health outcomes. Factors were grouped into eight categories among person, system, and organization levels. Most factors were related to the screening process, with sparse factors related to referral completion. Nurses continue to face challenges in leading health information technology innovations such as Artificial Intelligence (AI). There is an acknowledged need to explore the attitude of nurses towards AI and nurses' acceptance of AI in clinical settings. We sought to address this gap in knowledge about the perceptions of AI by nursing-related professionals in their work and as a content area in the education of nursing students. Norwegian nurses and healthcare personnel interested in the topic met in a seminar in Oslo in 2023 to explore their perspectives on AI. The American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) is shifting the nursing education paradigm to competency-based education. Competency-based nursing education focuses on the nursing students' demonstration of knowledge. This shift in nursing education will rely on performance measures and data to determine success. Data and artificial intelligence can provide the nursing student with a targeted evaluation from the nursing faculty. Building on prior applications of "precision" and the use of data to drive precision medicine or precision nursing, nursing informatics is well-positioned for this paradigm shift to support data and artificial intelligence in nursing education. This paper explores the development of a multidisciplinary nursing informatics curriculum. The aim is to integrate multiple disciplines to meet the educational objectives of undergraduate nursing students. The curriculum design included a thorough needs assessment, curriculum development, and evaluation. Of the 29 undergraduate nursing students enrolled in the course, 21 completed the course evaluation with a response rate of 72.4%. The comprehensive assessment of the course (part 1) scored 93.7 out of 100, while the quality of the teacher's teaching (part 2) scored 93.4 out of 100. Worldwide, more than 5.4 billion people have a smartphone. Based on this, thousands of Apps are being developed, each one with different functions such as: education, communication, organization, home automatization and exercising. The aim of this study was to analyze the scientific evidence available worldwide on mobile applications to promote and motivate exercise in adolescents. It was carried out following the PRISMA. A total of 483 articles were identified, of which 300 were eliminated. For title 247, for abstract 33 and 20 for other reasons, giving a total of 183 articles to assess their eligibility, 158 were eliminated. This study delves into the impact of Information Technology (IT) on nursing practice in Japan, focusing on patient safety within the 2021-2022 Japanese Medical Accident Report Data. The research aims to understand how IT factors contribute to nursing-related medical incidents in a healthcare landscape rapidly integrating IT. The study identifies IT-related incidents through a retrospective analysis of medical incident reports, primarily in nursing, by analyzing categorized data and free-text descriptions for IT-related keywords. The findings indicate significant IT-related issues, with 'Other EHR Related' problems (36%) and 'EHR Reporting' errors (25%) being the most prevalent. These incidents often involve challenges in patient identification and medication management. The study suggests improvements like enhanced verification processes and automated systems to mitigate these risks. Nursing students are confronted with euthanasia during their internship and certainly during their later career but they feel inadequately prepared in dealing with a euthanasia request. This study presents a simulation module focused on euthanasia and evaluates nursing students' perceptions after they have completed the simulation practice. The 'euthanasia module' consisted of a preparatory online learning module, a good-practice video, an in-vivo simulation scenario, and a debriefing session. The module's content was validated by four experts in end-of-life care. The module was completed by three groups of students from two different University Colleges (n = 17 in total). The students were divided into three groups: one with no previous simulation education experience, one with all students having previous experience, and another with a mix of experiences. After completing the entire module, each group had a discussion regarding their perceptions and expectations concerning this simulation module. Thematic content analysis was conducted on audio-recorded group interviews using NVIVO® software, involving initial open coding, transformation into specific themes and subthemes through axial coding, and defining core themes through selective coding, with data analysis continuing until data saturation was reached. Students generally found the online learning module valuable for background information, had mixed perceptions of the good-practice video, and appreciated the well-crafted scenarios with the taboo of euthanasia emerging during simulations, while the debriefing process was seen as enhancing clinical reasoning abilities. Students considered the simulation module a valuable addition to their education and nursing careers, expressing their satisfaction with the comprehensive coverage of the sensitive topic presented without sensationalism or taboos. This subject holds significance for nations with established euthanasia laws and those lacking such legal frameworks. The findings of this study can aid teachers in developing and accessing euthanasia simulation training programs, contributing to broader education's emphasis on integrating euthanasia-related knowledge and skills. Background: Health disparities, inconsistent outcomes, and underwhelming health services continue to be problems for all nurses and doctors. Studies from a variety of nations have found that doctors and nurses have little familiarity with evidence-based practice. There is a knowledge vacuum about the degree of evidence-based nursing practice and its contributing factors in Ethiopia as well as the current study region. Objective: The study's objective was to evaluate how healthcare professionals working in government hospitals in the Sidama regional state of 2022 are implementing evidence-based clinical practice and to identify associated factors. Methods: From October 1 to December 30/2022, a cross-sectional institution-based study with a mix of quantitative and qualitative methods was carried out. A total of 422 healthcare workers were randomly selected to participate in the current study from 6 randomly selected public hospitals in the region. This study included 25 key informant interviews. The Friedman test and Funk's BARRIER scale were adapted into a semi-structured questionnaire quantitative. Multivariable logistic regression was used to assess the significance of the association between the dependent and independent variables. A pretest was conducted on 22 healthcare workers from Shashmane Hospital. Conclusion: More than half of the participants,51.7%, do not implement evidence-based practice in the care of their clients, which is unacceptable. The use of EBP has been significantly associated with access to the internet (having a smartphone), participants' positive attitudes toward it, their level of skill efficacy in finding and accessing it, and their knowledge of it. Background: Nurses as the largest group of health workers have a very stressful job which can cause number of diseases specially increase cardiovascular risk factors. This study aims to investigate the overall epidemiology of cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk factors among nurses. Method: We searched all four main databases such as Scopus, PubMed, Embase and Web of Sciences from the beginning of 2000 to March 2022 with appropriate Mesh Terms. We also searched Google scholar. Then we applied inclusion and exclusion criteria and after selection the studies the Newcastle-Ottawa Scale (NOS) was used to assess the methodological quality of included studies. Comprehensive Meta-analysis and R software was used for analysis. Results: Finally, 22 articles with a total number of 117922 nurses were included. Among all risk factors, sedentary lifestyle and lack of regular physical activity with a prevalence of 46.3% (CI 95%, 26.6–67.2) was regarded as the main prevalent risk factor among nurses. The mean systolic blood pressure (SBP) measured in the study population was 121.31 (CI 95%, 114.73–127.90) and the mean diastolic blood pressure (DBP) was 78.08 (CI 95%, 74.90–81.25). Also family history of cardiovascular disease (41.9%; 95% IC: 29.8–55.1%), being overweight (33.3%; 95% IC: 24.7–43.2%), and alcohol consumption (24.6%; 95% IC: 16.4–35.2%) was found among the participants. Conclusion: Study results revealed that sedentary lifestyle was the main prevalent CVD risk factor among nurses followed by family history of cardiovascular disease, being overweight and alcohol consumption. Furthermore, among nurses with shift works almost all risk factors got higher score representing the worse condition in comparison with day workers' nurses. This study enables learning the associated risk factors of CVD among nurses to facilitate interventional programs with a view to reduce the exposure of nursing staff particularly those who work in shifts to cardiovascular risk factors. 1. Accelerating the discovery of advanced materials is crucial for modern industries, aerospace, biomedicine, and energy. Nevertheless, only a small fraction of materials are currently under experimental investigation within the vast chemical space. Materials scientists are plagued by time-consuming and labor-intensive experiments due to lacking efficient material discovery strategies. Artificial intelligence (AI) has emerged as a promising instrument to bridge this gap. Although numerous AI toolkits or platforms for material science have been developed, they suffer from many shortcomings. These include primarily focusing on material property prediction and being unfriendly to material scientists lacking programming experience, especially performing poorly with limited data. Here, we developed MLMD, an AI platform for materials design. It is capable of effectively discovering novel materials with high-potential advanced properties end-to-end, utilizing model inference, surrogate optimization, and even working in situations of data scarcity based on active learning. Additionally, it integrates data analysis, descriptor refactoring, hyper-parameters auto-optimizing, and properties prediction. It also provides a web-based friendly interface without need programming and can be used anywhere, anytime. MLMD is dedicated to the integration of material experiment/computation and design, and accelerate the new material discovery with desired one or multiple properties. It demonstrates the strong power to direct experiments on various materials (perovskites, steel, high-entropy alloy, etc).
