Introduction Central retinal vein occlusions are not well-known complications of SARS-CoV-2 infection. We describe a case of central retinal vein occlusion secondary to COVID-19, and a review of the literature was performed. History and Signs A 47-year-old woman with no underlying ocular or medical condition presented to the hospital complaining about sudden onset of multiple scotomas in her left eye. A COVID-19 infection was confirmed 2 days previously by a PCR test that was performed 2 days after the onset of symptoms. Medical history revealed no risk factors and no oral contraception. Her best-corrected visual acuity was 1.0 in the right eye and 0.04 in the left eye. Clinical exam showed a left relative afferent pupillary defect and a nasally localized papilledema on fundoscopy of the left eye. Multiple dot and blot hemorrhages were also present. Optical coherence tomography revealed cystoid macular edema and paracentral acute middle maculopathy. The results of the fluoresceine angiography were consistent with central retinal vein occlusion. Laboratory workup later revealed an elevated fibrinogen level, corresponding to the COVID-19-induced hypercoagulable state. No other prothrombotic conditions were found. The patient immediately received an intravitreal injection of Lucentis (ranibizumab) after diagnosis. Complete resolution of the retinal hemorrhages and papilledema was observed 1.5 months after treatment and the final visual acuity was 1.25 in the left eye. Conclusion Coagulation abnormalities are frequently observed in infectious diseases such as COVID-19 infection and the resulting prothrombotic state can sometimes lead to retinal vascular complications, including central retinal vein occlusion, irrespective of the presence of other classical risk factors. The consideration of this information could help clinicians establish a prompt diagnosis and therefore appropriate treatment, which could hopefully lead to complete healing of retinal lesions.

Objectives: To determine the composition of lean mass (LM), fat mass (FM), and bone mineral density by Dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) in people over 40 years old with metabolic syndrome (MetS). Subjects and methods: A cross-sectional study on 199 subjects with or without MetS (defined by the 2005 update NCEP ATP III criteria) who were examined and treated at Hai Phong Medical University Hospital from 2017 to 2022. The composition of LM, FM and bone mineral density were measured using DXA. Results: Total FM, total LM in individuals with MetS were higher than those in non-MetS (p < 0.01). FM regions (trunks, android, arms) and A/G FM ratio, LM regions (trunks, android, gynoid), and FM% regions (trunks, android) of MetS subjects were higher than those without MetS (p < 0.01). Nevertheless, legs FM, legs FM%, arms FM%, gynoid FM%, total FM %, legs LM, and arms LM were not different between both groups (p > 0.05). The bone mineral density (BMD) of people with MetS was higher than that of subjects without MetS (p < 0.05) at several positions: ribs and arms, however, stratified by BMI, there was no significant difference in BMD (p > 0.05). Conclusion: Total LM and total FM in MetS subjects were higher than in non-MetS. FM regions (arms, android, trunks) and A/G FM ratio, LM regions (trunks, android, gynoid), and FM% regions (trunks, android) of MetS subjects were higher than those without MetS. Total and regional BMD (ribs, arms) of MetS subjects were higher than those without MetS. However, there was no difference in BMD stratified by BMI between the two groups.

Coronary arteries with anomalous origin are unusual but can be responsible for myocardial infarction. Acute occlusion of an anomalous coronary artery is not only easily missed on angiography but also technically challenging for percutaneous intervention. In this report, we present our experience in a patient with an anomalous circumflex being the culprit vessel in acute myocardial infarction. We report a case of a 74-year-old male patient presented with sudden chest pain. The diagnosis of occluded anomalous circumflex coronary artery was made by invasive coronary angiography shortly after admission. The patient was stented with a 2.5 x 18mm bare metal stent and was discharged with intensive medical treatment and regular follow-up. Interventional cardiologists should keep in mind there are several anomalous origin, the most frequent anomaly being a circumflex artery with origin from the right coronary artery or the right sinus of Valsalva.

The virulence of and reproduction capacity of six entomopathogenic nematode strains of species Steinernema longicaudum (Rhabditida: Steinernematidae) to second stage larvae of mealworm Tenebrio molitor (Coleoptera: Tenebrionidae) was evaluated under laboratory conditions. An initial assessment with ten concentrations showed that mortality increased with the number of infective juveniles (IJs), and that the strain S-DM caused the highest mortality (97.2%) of T. molitor larvae. However, the effect of nematode strains and concentrations on the mortality of larvae was not statistically significant. The virulent of all nematode strains were moderately high with low lethal LC50 values between 43.8 and 47.6 IJs. The reproduction capacity of six nematode strains produced high yields between 65.700 and 79.700 IJs. The relationship between mealworm stage and concentrations of IJs was not significantly difference in all EPN strains. In all bioassays, the second stage of mealworms was the most susceptible. All these indigenous strains of species S. longicaudum might be adapted as potential agents in both categories, e.g. pathogenicity and reproduction capacity.

Hiding high utility and frequent itemset is the method used to preserve sensitive knowledge from being revealed by pattern mining process. Its goal is to remove sensitive high utility and frequent itemsets from a database before sharing it for data mining purposes while minimizing the side effects. The current methods succeed in the hiding goal but they cause high side effects. This paper proposes a novel algorithm, named HSUFIBL, that applies a heuristic for finding victim item based on the constrained intersection lattice theory. This algorithm specifies exactly the condition that allows the application of utility reduction or support reduction method, the victim item, and the victim transaction for the hiding process so that the process needs the fewest data modifications and gives the lowest number of lost non-sensitive itemsets. The experimental results indicate that the HSUFIBL algorithm achieves better performance than previous works in minimizing the side effect.
