Abstract: Using a data sample of $772 \times 10^6$ BB pairs collected on the ${\Upsilon}(4S)$ resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy $e^+e^-$ collider, we report the observations of $B^0\to p{\bar p}\pi^+\pi^-$ and $B^+ \to p{\bar p}\pi^+\pi^0$. We measure a decay branching fraction of $(0.83 \pm 0.17 \pm 0.17) \times 10^-6$ in $B^0\to p{\bar p}\pi^+\pi^-$ for $M_{\pi^+\pi^-} < 1.22 GeV/c^2$ with a significance of 5.5 standard deviations. The contribution from $B0 \to p{\bar p}K^0$ is excluded. We measure a decay branching fraction of $(4.58 \pm 1.17 \pm 0.67) \times 10^-6$ for $B^+ \to p{\bar p}\pi^+\pi^0$ with $M_{\pi^+\pi^0} < 1.3 GeV/c^2$ with a significance of 5.4 standard deviations. Abstract: We report the first observation of the radiative decay of the $\Upsilon(1S)$ into a charmonium state. The statistical significance of the observed signal of $\Upsilon(1S) \to \gamma \chi_{c1}$ is 6.3 standard deviations including systematics. The branching fraction is calculated to be Br($\Upsilon(1S) \to \gamma \chi_{c1}$) = (4.7^{+2.4}_{-1.8} (stat) ^{+0.4}_{-0.5} (sys)) * 10^{-5}. We also searched for $\Upsilon(1S)$ radiative decays into $\chi_{c0,2}$ and $\eta_c(1S,2S)$ and set upper limits on their branching fractions. These results are obtained from a 24.9 fb^{-1} data sample collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy $e^+e^-$ collider at a center-of-mass energy equal to the $\Upsilon(2S)$ mass using $\Upsilon(1S)$ tagging by the $\Upsilon(2S) \to \Upsilon(1S) \pi^+\pi^-$ transitions., Comment: 7pages, 3 figures

Abstract: This work reports the first observation of azimuthal asymmetries around the thrust axis in $e^+e^-$ annihilation of pairs of back-to-back charged pions in one hemisphere, and $\pi^0$ and $\eta$ mesons in the opposite hemisphere. These results are complemented by a new analysis of pairs of back-to-back charged pions. The $\pi^0$ and $\eta$ asymmetries rise with the relative momentum $z$ of the detected hadrons as well as with the transverse momentum with respect to the thrust axis. These asymmetries are sensitive to the Collins fragmentation function $H_1^{\perp}$ and provide complementary information to previous measurements with charged pions and kaons in the final state. In particular, the $\eta$ final states will provide additional information on the flavor structure of $H_1^{\perp}$. This is the first measurement of the explicit transverse-momentum dependence of the Collins fragmentation function from Belle data. Abstract: We present the first model-independent measurement of the CKM unitarity triangle angle $\phi_3$ using $B^{\pm}\to D(K_{\rm S}^0\pi^+\pi^-\pi^0)K^{\pm}$ decays, where $D$ indicates either a $D^{0}$ or $\overline{D}^{0}$ meson. Measurements of the strong-phase difference of the $D \to K_{\rm S}^0\pi^+\pi^-\pi^0$ amplitude obtained from CLEO-c data are used as input. This analysis is based on the full Belle data set of $772\times 10^{6}$ $B\overline{B}$ events collected at the $\Upsilon(4S)$ resonance. We obtain $\phi_3 = (5.7~^{+10.2}_{-8.8} \pm 3.5 \pm 5.7)^{\circ}$ and the suppressed amplitude ratio $r_{B} = 0.323 \pm 0.147 \pm 0.023 \pm 0.051$. Here the first uncertainty is statistical, the second is the experimental systematic, and the third is due to the precision of the strong-phase parameters measured from CLEO-c data. The 95% confidence interval on $\phi_3$ is $(-29.7,~109.5)^{\circ}$, which is consistent with the current world average.

Abstract: We report an experimental determination of the isospin of $\Lambda_c(2765)^+/\Sigma_c(2765)^+$ using 980 fb$^{-1}$ data in the $e^+e^-$ annihilation around $\sqrt{s} = 10.6$ GeV collected by the Belle detector located at the KEKB collider. The isospin partners are searched for in the $\Sigma_c(2455)^{++/0} \pi^{0}$ channels, and no evidence was obtained. Abstract: Using data samples of $e^+e^-$ collisions collected at the $\Upsilon(1S)$, $\Upsilon(2S)$, and $\Upsilon(3S)$ resonances with the Belle detector, we search for the three-body decay of the $\Omega(2012)$ baryon to $K\pi\Xi$. This decay is predicted to dominate for models describing the $\Omega(2012)$ as a $K\Xi(1530)$ molecule. No significant $\Omega(2012)$ signals are observed in the studied channels, and 90\% credibility level upper limits on the ratios of the branching fractions relative to $K \Xi$ decay modes are obtained., Comment: 16 pages, 5 figures

Abstract: We report a new measurement of the $e^+e^-\to\Upsilon(nS)\pi^+\pi^-$ ($n=1,2,3$) cross sections at energies from 10.52 to 11.02 GeV using data collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy $e^+e^-$ collider. We observe a new structure in the energy dependence of the cross sections; if described by a Breit-Wigner function its mass and width are found to be $M=(10752.7\pm5.9\,^{+0.7}_{-1.1})\,$MeV/$c^2$ and $\Gamma=(35.5^{+17.6}_{-11.3}\,^{+3.9}_{-3.3})\,$MeV, where the first error is statistical and the second is systematic. The global significance of the new structure including systematic uncertainty is 5.2 standard deviations. We also find evidence for the $e^+e^-\to\Upsilon(1S)\pi^+\pi^-$ process at the energy 10.52 GeV, which is below the $B\bar{B}$ threshold., Comment: 26 pages, 12 figures, final version accepted by JHEP

Abstract: We report a measurement of the ratios of branching fractions $\mathcal{R}(D) = {\cal B}(\bar{B} \to D \tau^- \bar{\nu}_{\tau})/{\cal B}(\bar{B} \to D \ell^- \bar{\nu}_{\ell})$ and $\mathcal{R}(D^{\ast}) = {\cal B}(\bar{B} \to D^* \tau^- \bar{\nu}_{\tau})/{\cal B}(\bar{B} \to D^* \ell^- \bar{\nu}_{\ell})$, where $\ell$ denotes an electron or a muon. The results are based on a data sample containing $772\times10^6$ $B\bar{B}$ events recorded at the $\Upsilon(4S)$ resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB $e^+ e^-$ collider. The analysis utilizes a method where the tag-side $B$ meson is reconstructed in a semileptonic decay mode, and the signal-side $\tau$ is reconstructed in a purely leptonic decay. The measured values are $\mathcal{R}(D)= 0.307 \pm 0.037 \pm 0.016$ and $\mathcal{R}(D^{\ast})= 0.283 \pm 0.018 \pm 0.014$, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic. These results are in agreement with the Standard Model predictions within $0.2$ and $1.1$ standard deviations, respectively, while their combination agrees with the Standard Model predictions within $1.2$ standard deviations., Comment: 12 pages, 6 figures

Abstract: The OPERA experiment has conclusively observed the appearance of tau neutrinos in the muon neutrino CNGS beam. Exploiting the OPERA detector capabilities, it was possible to isolate high purity samples of $\nu_{e}$, $\nu_{\mu}$ and $\nu_{\tau}$ charged current weak neutrino interactions, as well as neutral current weak interactions. In this Letter, the full dataset is used for the first time to test the three-flavor neutrino oscillation model and to derive constraints on the existence of a light sterile neutrino within the framework of the $3+1$ neutrino model. For the first time, tau and electron neutrino appearance channels are jointly used to test the sterile neutrino hypothesis. A significant fraction of the sterile neutrino parameter space allowed by LSND and MiniBooNE experiments is excluded at 90% C.L. Abstract: We report the first measurement of the $D^{\ast -}$ meson polarization in the decay $B^0 \to D^{*-} \tau^+\nu_{\tau}$ using the full data sample of 772$\times 10^6$ $B\bar{B}$ pairs recorded with the Belle detector at the KEKB electron-positron collider. Our result, $F_L^{D^\ast} = 0.60 \pm 0.08 ({\rm stat}) \pm 0.04 ({\rm sys})$, where $F_L^{D^\ast}$ denotes the $D^{\ast-}$ meson longitudinal polarization fraction, agrees within about $1.7$ standard deviations of the standard model prediction., Comment: 16 pages, 4 figures, CKM 2018

Abstract: We report measurements of the production cross sections of charged pions, kaons, and protons as a function of fractional energy, the event-shape variable called thrust, and the transverse momentum with respect to the thrust axis. These measurements access the transverse momenta created in the fragmentation process, which are of critical importance to the understanding of any transverse momentum dependent distribution and fragmentation functions. The low transverse momentum part of the cross sections can be well described by Gaussians in transverse momentum as is generally assumed but the fractional-energy dependence is non-trivial and different hadron types have varying Gaussian widths. The width of these Gaussians decreases with thrust and shows an initially rising, then decreasing fractional-energy dependence. The widths for pions and kaons are comparable within uncertainties, while those for protons are significantly narrower. These single-hadron cross sections and Gaussian widths are obtained from a $558\,{\rm fb}^{-1}$ data sample collected at the $\Upsilon(4S)$ resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy $e^+ e^-$ collider., Comment: 17 page, 15 figures, submitted to PRD

Abstract: OPERA is a long-baseline experiment designed to search for $\nu_{\mu}\to\nu_{\tau}$ oscillations in appearance mode. It was based at the INFN Gran Sasso laboratory (LNGS) and took data from 2008 to 2012 with the CNGS neutrino beam from CERN. After the discovery of $\nu_\tau$ appearance in 2015, with $5.1\sigma$ significance, the criteria to select $\nu_\tau$ candidates have been extended and a multivariate approach has been used for events identification. In this way the statistical uncertainty in the measurement of the oscillation parameters and of $\nu_\tau$ properties has been improved. Abstract: The OPERA experiment discovered muon neutrino into tau neutrino oscillations in appearance mode, detecting tau leptons by means of nuclear emulsion films. The apparatus was also endowed with electronic detectors with tracking capability, such as scintillator strips and resistive plate chambers. Because of its location, in the underground Gran Sasso laboratory, under 3800 m.w.e., the OPERA detector has also been used as an observatory for TeV muons produced by cosmic rays in the atmosphere. In this paper the measurement of the single muon flux modulation and of its correlation with the seasonal variation of the atmospheric temperature are reported.

Abstract: We report the first observation of the doubly-strange baryon $\Xi(1620)^0$ in its decay to $\Xi^-\pi^+$ via $\Xi_c^+ \rightarrow \Xi^- \pi^+ \pi^+$ decays based on a $980\,{\rm fb}^{-1}$ data sample collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy $e^+ e^-$ collider. The mass and width are measured to be 1610.4 $\pm$ 6.0 (stat) $^{+5.9}_{-3.5}$ (syst)~MeV$/c^2$ and 59.9 $\pm$ 4.8 (stat) $^{+2.8}_{-3.0}$ (syst)~MeV, respectively. We obtain 4.0$\sigma$ evidence of the $\Xi(1690)^0$ with the same data sample. Abstract: We present the physics program of the Belle II experiment, located on the intensity frontier SuperKEKB $e^+e^-$ collider. Belle II collected its first collisions in 2018, and is expected to operate for the next decade. It is anticipated to collect 50/ab of collision data over its lifetime. This book is the outcome of a joint effort of Belle II collaborators and theorists through the Belle II theory interface platform (B2TiP), an effort that commenced in 2014. The aim of B2TiP was to elucidate the potential impacts of the Belle II program, which includes a wide scope of physics topics: B physics, charm, tau, quarkonium, electroweak precision measurements and dark sector searches. It is composed of nine working groups (WGs), which are coordinated by teams of theorist and experimentalists conveners: Semileptonic and leptonic B decays, Radiative and Electroweak penguins, phi_1 and phi_2 (time-dependent CP violation) measurements, phi_3 measurements, Charmless hadronic B decay, Charm, Quarkonium(like), tau and low-multiplicity processes, new physics and global fit analyses. This book highlights "golden- and silver-channels", i.e. those that would have the highest potential impact in the field. Theorists scrutinised the role of those measurements and estimated the respective theoretical uncertainties, achievable now as well as prospects for the future. Experimentalists investigated the expected improvements with the large dataset expected from Belle II, taking into account improved performance from the upgraded detector., Comment: 689 pages

Abstract: We report a search for charmless hadronic decays of charged $B$ mesons to the final states $K^{0}_{S} K^{0}_{S} K^{\pm}$ and $K^{0}_{S} K^{0}_{S} \pi^{\pm}$ . The results are based on a $711 {fb}^{-1}$ data sample that contains $772 \times 10^6$ $B \bar{B}$ pairs, and was collected at the $\Upsilon(4S)$ resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy $e^{+}e^{-}$ collider. For $B^{\pm} \to K^{0}_{S} K^{0}_{S} K^{\pm}$ decays, the measured branching fraction and direct $CP$ asymmetry are $[10.64\pm0.49(stat)\pm 0.44(syst)]\times10^{-6}$ and [$-0.6\pm3.9(stat)\pm 3.4(syst)$] %, respectively. In the absence of a statistically significant signal for $B^{\pm}\to K^{0}_{S} K^{0}_{S} \pi^{\pm}$, we set the 90 % confidence-level upper limit on its branching fraction at $1.14 \times 10^{-6}$.

Abstract: We report the measurement of the branching fraction and $CP$ asymmetry for the $\bar{B}^{0}(B^{0})\to K^{0}_{S}K^{\mp}\pi^{\pm}$ decay. We obtain a branching fraction of $(3.60\pm0.33\pm0.15)\times10^{-6}$ and an $\mathcal{A}_{CP}$ of $(-8.5\pm8.9\pm0.2)\%$, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic. Abstract: The OPERA experiment was designed to study $\nu_\mu\to\nu_\tau$ oscillations in appearance mode in the CNGS neutrino beam. In this letter we report the final analysis of the full data sample collected between 2008 and 2012, corresponding to $17.97\cdot 10^{19}$ protons on target. Selection criteria looser than in previous analyses have produced ten $\nu_\tau$ candidate events, thus reducing the statistical uncertainty in the measurement of the oscillation parameters and of $\nu_\tau$ properties. A multivariate approach for event identification has been applied to the candidate events and the discovery of $\nu_\tau$ appearance is confirmed with an improved significance level of 6.1 $\sigma$. $\Delta m^2_{23}$ has been measured, in appearance mode, with an accuracy of 20%. The measurement of $\nu_\tau$ CC cross-section, for the first time with a negligible contamination from $\bar{\nu}_\tau$, and the first direct observation of the $\nu_\tau$ lepton number are also reported., Comment: 7 pages, 3 figures

Abstract: The OPERA experiment has discovered the tau neutrino appearance in the CNGS muon neutrino beam, in agreement with the 3 neutrino flavour oscillation hypothesis. The OPERA neutrino interaction target, made of Emulsion Cloud Chamber, was particularly efficient in the reconstruction of electromagnetic showers. Moreover, thanks to the very high granularity of the emulsion films, showers induced by electrons can be distinguished from those induced by $\pi^0$s, thus allowing the detection of charged current interactions of electron neutrinos. In this paper the results of the search for electron neutrino events using the full dataset are reported. An improved method for the electron neutrino energy estimation is exploited. Data are compatible with the 3 neutrino flavour mixing model expectations and are used to set limits on the oscillation parameters of the 3+1 neutrino mixing model, in which an additional mass eigenstate $m_{4}$ is introduced. At high $\Delta m^{2}_{41}$ $( \gtrsim 0.1~\textrm{eV}^{2})$, an upper limit on $\sin^2 2\theta_{\mu e}$ is set to 0.021 at 90% C.L. and $\Delta m^2_{41} \gtrsim 4 \times 10^{-3}~\textrm{eV}^{2}$ is excluded for maximal mixing in appearance mode., Comment: Editors: M. We measure ${\cal B}(\Lambda^+_c\rightarrow\Sigma^+\pi^-\pi^+)/{\cal B}(\Lambda^+_c\to pK^-\pi^+) = 0.706~\pm 0.003~\pm 0.029$, ${\cal B}(\Lambda^+_c\rightarrow\Sigma^0\pi^+\pi^0)/{\cal B}(\Lambda^+_c\to pK^-\pi^+) = 0.491~\pm 0.005~\pm 0.028$ and ${\cal B}(\Lambda^+_c\rightarrow\Sigma^+\pi^0\pi^0)/{\cal B}(\Lambda^+_c\to pK^-\pi^+) = 0.198~\pm 0.006~\pm 0.016$. Abstract: We report the measurement of the $\gamma p \rightarrow K^{+}\Lambda$ and $\gamma p \rightarrow K^{+}\Sigma^{0}$ reactions at SPring-8. The differential cross sections and photon-beam asymmetries are measured at forward $K^{+}$ production angles using linearly polarized tagged-photon beams in the range of $E_{\gamma}=1.5$--3.0 GeV. With increasing photon energy, the cross sections for both $\gamma p \rightarrow K^{+}\Lambda$ and $\gamma p \rightarrow K^{+}\Sigma^{0}$ reactions decrease slowly. Distinct narrow structures in the production cross section have not been found at $E_{\gamma}=1.5$--3.0 GeV. The forward peaking in the angular distributions of cross sections, a characteristic feature of $t$-channel exchange, is observed for the production of $\Lambda$ in the whole observed energy range. A lack of similar feature for $\Sigma^{0}$ production reflects a less dominant role of $t$-channel contribution in this channel. The photon-beam asymmetries remain positive for both reactions, suggesting the dominance of $K^{*}$ exchange in the $t$ channel. These asymmetries increase gradually with the photon energy, and have a maximum value of +0.6 for both reactions. Comparison with theoretical predictions based on the Regge trajectory in the $t$ channel and the contributions of nucleon resonances indicates the major role of $t$-channel contributions as well as non-negligible effects of nucleon resonances in accounting for the reaction mechanism of hyperon photoproduction in this photon energy regime., Comment: published version, two-column format, 10 pages, 8 figures

Abstract: The differential cross sections and decay angular distributions for coherent $\phi$-meson photoproduction from helium-4 have been measured for the first time at forward angles with linearly polarized photons in the energy range $E_{\gamma} = \text{1.685-2.385 GeV}$. Thanks to the target with spin-parity $J^{P} = 0^{+}$, unnatural-parity exchanges are prohibited, and thus natural-parity exchanges can be investigated clearly. The decay asymmetry with respect to photon polarization is shown to be very close to the maximal value. This ensures the dominance ($> 94\%$) of natural-parity exchanges in this reaction. To evaluate the contribution from natural-parity exchanges to the forward cross section ($\theta = 0^\circ$) for the $\gamma p \rightarrow \phi p$ reaction near the threshold, the energy dependence of the forward cross section ($\theta = 0^\circ$) for the $\gamma {^{4}\text{He}} \rightarrow \phi {^{4}\text{He}}$ reaction was analyzed. The comparison to $\gamma p \rightarrow \phi p$ data suggests that enhancement of the forward cross section arising from natural-parity exchanges, and/or destructive interference between natural-parity and unnatural-parity exchanges is needed in the $\gamma p \rightarrow \phi p$ reaction near the threshold., Comment: 6 pages, 4 figures

The aim of the present study was to investigate the effects of olanzapine treatment on hepatic lipid metabolism and its possible relationship with adipose tissue status.Methods: Using a female rat model, we investigated the effects of chronic olanzapine administration on the regulation of carbohydrate and lipid metabolism including lipid biosynthesis, oxidation, efflux, and lipolysis in liver and adipose tissue.Results: The body weight, liver mass and visceral adiposity after olanzapine treatment (2 mg/kg) for five weeks were not significantly different compared with vehicle controls. The serum level of triglycerides was higher in the vehicle controls than in olanzapine-treated rats. Unexpectedly, olanzapine treatment did not reduce glucose tolerance in our model. The expression of functional thermogenic protein uncoupling protein 1 (UCP1) was increased in brown adipose tissue (BAT) of the olanzapine group. Additionally, olanzapine treatment also reduced adipose inflammation in white adipose tissue (WAT). The transcription factor sterol regulatory element-binding protein (SREBP)-1c, a key early regulator of lipogenesis, was downregulated following olanzapine treatment. The expression of genes related to the triglycerides synthesis apparatus in the liver was upregulated in the olanzapine group. Olanzapine treatment induced genes involved in PPAR-α signaling and mitochondrial fatty acid oxidation in response to increased ATGL-mediated lipolysis in the liver.Conclusion: Together, our findings suggest a complicated link between olanzapine therapy and metabolic disturbance and may garner interest in assessing the action of antipsychotic-induced metabolic disturbances.Keywords: atypical antipsychotics, olanzapine, metabolic disturbances, weight gain, lipogenesis, lipolysis

Abstract: Differential cross sections at $t=t_{\text{min}}$ and decay asymmetries for the $\gamma p\rightarrow\phi p$ reaction have been measured using linearly polarized photons in the range 1.5 to 2.9 GeV. These cross sections were used to determine the Pomeron strength factor. The cross sections and decay asymmetries are consistently described by the $t$-channel Pomeron and pseudoscalar exchange model in the $E_{\gamma}$ region above 2.37 GeV. In the lower energy region, an excess over the model prediction is observed in the energy dependence of the differential cross sections at $t=t_{\text{min}}$. This observation suggests that additional processes or interference effects between Pomeron exchange and other processes appear near the threshold region., Comment: 6 pages, 7 figures

Abstract: We present a measurement of the Michel parameters of the $\tau$ lepton, $\bar{\eta}$ and $\xi\kappa$, in the radiative leptonic decay $\tau^- \rightarrow \ell^- \nu_{\tau} \bar{\nu}_{\ell} \gamma$ using 711~f$\mathrm{b}^{-1}$ of collision data collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB $e^+e^-$ collider. The Michel parameters are measured in an unbinned maximum likelihood fit to the kinematic distribution of $e^+e^-\rightarrow\tau^+\tau^-\rightarrow (\pi^+\pi^0 \bar{\nu}_\tau)(\ell^-\nu_{\tau}\bar{\nu}_{\ell}\gamma)$ $(\ell=e$ or $\mu)$. The measured values of the Michel parameters are $\bar{\eta} = -1.3 \pm 1.5 \pm 0.8$ and $\xi\kappa = 0.5 \pm 0.4 \pm 0.2$, where the first error is statistical and the second is systematic. This is the first measurement of these parameters. These results are consistent with the Standard Model predictions within their uncertainties and constrain the coupling constants of the generalized weak interaction.

Abstract: The DsTau project proposes to study tau-neutrino production in high-energy proton interactions. The outcome of this experiment are prerequisite for measuring the $\nu_\tau$ charged-current cross section that has never been well measured. Precisely measuring the cross section would enable testing of lepton universality in $\nu_\tau$ scattering and it also has practical implications for neutrino oscillation experiments and high-energy astrophysical $\nu_\tau$ observations. $D_s$ mesons, the source of tau neutrinos, following high-energy proton interactions will be studied by a novel approach to detect the double-kink topology of the decays $D_s \rightarrow \tau\nu_\tau$ and $\tau\rightarrow\nu_\tau X$. Directly measuring $D_s\rightarrow \tau$ decays will provide an inclusive measurement of the $D_s$ production rate and decay branching ratio to $\tau$. The momentum reconstruction of $D_s$ will be performed by combining topological variables. This project aims to detect 1,000 $D_s \rightarrow \tau$ decays in $2.3 \times 10^8$ proton interactions in tungsten target to study the differential production cross section of $D_s$ mesons. To achieve this, state-of-the-art emulsion detectors with a nanometric-precision readout will be used. The data generated by this project will enable the $\nu_\tau$ cross section from DONUT to be re-evaluated, and this should significantly reduce the total systematic uncertainty. Furthermore, these results will provide essential data for future $\nu_\tau$ experiments such as the $\nu_\tau$ program in the SHiP project at CERN. In addition, the analysis of $2.3 \times 10^8$ proton interactions, combined with the expected high yield of $10^5$ charmed decays as by-products, will enable the extraction of additional physical quantities., Comment: CERN-SPSC-2017-029 (SPSC-P-354)

Abstract: We measure the inclusive production cross sections of hyperons and charmed baryons from $e^+e^-$ annihilation using a 800 fb$^{-1}$ data sample taken near the $\Upsilon(4S)$ resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy $e^+ e^-$ collider. The feed-down contributions from heavy particles are subtracted using our data, and the direct production cross sections are presented for the first time. The production cross sections divided by the number of spin states for $S=-1$ hyperons follow an exponential function with a single slope parameter except for the $\Sigma(1385)^+$ resonance. Suppression for $\Sigma(1385)^+$ and $\Xi(1530)^0$ hyperons is observed. Among the production cross sections of charmed baryons, a factor of three difference for $\Lambda_c^+$ states over $\Sigma_c$ states is observed. This observation suggests a diquark structure for these baryons.

Abstract: In this document, the technical details of the JSNS$^2$ (J-PARC Sterile Neutrino Search at J-PARC Spallation Neutron Source) experiment are described. The search for sterile neutrinos is currently one of the hottest topics in neutrino physics. The JSNS$^2$ experiment aims to search for the existence of neutrino oscillations with $\Delta m^2$ near 1 eV$^2$ at the J-PARC Materials and Life Science Experimental Facility (MLF). A 1 MW beam of 3 GeV protons incident on a spallation neutron target produces an intense neutrino beam from muon decay at rest. Neutrinos come predominantly from $\mu^+$ decay: $\mu^{+} \to e^{+} + \bar{\nu}_{\mu} + \nu_{e}$. The experiment will search for $\bar{\nu}_{\mu}$ to $\bar{\nu}_{e}$ oscillations which are detected by the inverse beta decay interaction $\bar{\nu}_{e} + p \to e^{+} + n$, followed by gammas from neutron capture on Gd. The detector has a fiducial volume of 17 tons and is located 24 meters away from the mercury target. JSNS$^2$ offers the ultimate direct test of the LSND anomaly. In addition to the sterile neutrino search, the physics program includes cross section measurements with neutrinos with a few 10's of MeV from muon decay at rest and with monochromatic 236 MeV neutrinos from kaon decay at rest. These cross sections are relevant for our understanding of supernova explosions and nuclear physics.

88. CoFeAlB alloy with low damping and low magnetization for spin transfer torque switching

Abstract: We investigate the effect of Al doping on the magnetic properties of the alloy CoFeB. Comparative measurements of the saturation magnetization, the Gilbert damping parameter $\alpha$ and the exchange constant as a function of the annealing temperature for CoFeB and CoFeAlB thin films are presented. Our results reveal a strong reduction of the magnetization for CoFeAlB in comparison to CoFeB. If the prepared CoFeAlB films are amorphous, the damping parameter $\alpha$ is unaffected by the Al doping in comparison to the CoFeB alloy. In contrast, in the case of a crystalline CoFeAlB film, $\alpha$ is found to be reduced. Furthermore, the x-ray characterization and the evolution of the exchange constant with the annealing temperature indicate a similar crystallization process in both alloys. The data proves the suitability of CoFeAlB for spin torque switching properties where a reduction of the switching current in comparison with CoFeB is expected., Comment: 5 Pages, 5 Figures

Abstract: We describe the first ever implementation of an emulsion multi-stage shifter in an accelerator neutrino experiment. The system was installed in the neutrino monitor building in J-PARC as a part of a test experiment T60 and stable operation was maintained for a total of 126.6 days. By applying time information to emulsion films, various results were obtained. Time resolutions of 5.3 to 14.7 s were evaluated in an operation spanning 46.9 days (time resolved numbers of 3.8--1.4$\times10^{5}$). By using timing and spatial information, a reconstruction of coincident events that consisted of high multiplicity events and vertex events, including neutrino events was performed. Emulsion events were matched to events observed by INGRID, one of near detectors of the T2K experiment, with high reliability (98.5\%) and hybrid analysis was established via use of the multi-stage shifter. The results demonstrate that the multi-stage shifter is feasible for use in neutrino experiments.

Abstract: The SHiP experiment is designed to search for very weakly interacting particles beyond the Standard Model which are produced in a 400 GeV/c proton beam dump at the CERN SPS. An essential task for the experiment is to keep the Standard Model background level to less than 0.1 event after $2\times 10^{20}$ protons on target. In the beam dump, around $10^{11}$ muons will be produced per second. The muon rate in the spectrometer has to be reduced by at least four orders of magnitude to avoid muon-induced combinatorial background. A novel active muon shield is used to magnetically deflect the muons out of the acceptance of the spectrometer. The nuclear emulsion technique can measure all the final state particles with low energy threshold for a variety of targets (Fe, C, H${_2}$O, and so on). Its sub-$\mu$m position resolution allows measurements of the ${\nu_e}$ cross-section with good electron/gamma separation capability. We started a new experiment at J-PARC to study sub-multi GeV neutrino interactions by introducing the nuclear emulsion technique. The J-PARC T60 experiment has been implemented as a first step of such a project. Systematic neutrino event analysis with full scanning data in the nuclear emulsion detector was performed for the first time. Abstract: The precise determination of the CKM matrix element $\left| V_{cb}\right|$ is important for carrying out tests of the flavour sector of the Standard Model. In this article we present a preliminary analysis of the $\bar B^0 \to D^{*\,+} \, \ell^- \, \bar \nu_\ell$ decay mode and its charge conjugate, selected in events that contain a fully reconstructed $B$-meson, using 772 million $e^+ \, e^- \to \Upsilon(4S) \to B \bar B$ events recorded by the Belle detector at KEKB. Unfolded differential decay rates of four kinematic variables fully describing the $\bar B^0 \to D^{*\,+} \, \ell^- \, \bar \nu_\ell$ decay in the $B$-meson rest frame are presented. We measure the total branching fraction $\mathcal{B}( \bar B^0 \to D^{*\,+} \, \ell^- \, \bar \nu_\ell ) = \left(4.95 \pm 0.11 \pm 0.22 \right) \times 10^{-2}$, where the errors are statistical and systematic respectively. The value of $\left|V_{cb} \right|$ is determined to be $\left( 37.4 \pm 1.3 \right) \times 10^{-3}$. Both results are in good agreement with current world averages.

Abstract: The cross-field transport in the scrape-off-layers (SOLs) and divertors in tokamaks is of a similar size to the poloidal component of the parallel flow, thereby significantly impacting the plasma transport there. However, its direct observation has been challenging because the drift velocity (102–103 m/s) is significantly below the detection limit of conventional diagnostics. To realize cross-field ion flow measurement, a variety of systematic uncertainties in the system must be narrowed down. Here, we develop a conceptual design of the Doppler spectrometry that enables us to measure the impurity flows with 102-m/s accuracy based on an in situ wavelength-calibration technique developed in the astrophysics field, the iodine-cell method. We discuss its properties and applicability. In particular, the scaling relation between wavelength accuracy and various spectroscopic parameters is newly presented, which suggests the high importance of the wavelength resolution of the system. 94. Real-time processing system of a two-color CO2 laser interferometer for density feedback control in JT-60SA.

Abstract: A real-time processing system for the two-color CO2 laser interferometer on the JT-60SA has been developed for density feedback control. The system has a novel feature that can detect fringe jumps due to off-normal events, such as loss detection due to displacement of the beam axis and changes in the laser wavelengths. Because a phase change due to the JT-60SA plasma is smaller than π/2, corresponding to the line-integral electron density NL of ∼ 6 × 1 0 19 m−2 in a short interval of 500 ns, the threshold of the fringe jump detection is decided to be π/2. Hence, off-normal events can be detected from a fringe jump, leading to the abort of the real-time feedback control. In the density feedback control of the JT-60SA plasma, the system is employed as a density monitor, with NL being successfully controlled at 16.8% ± 6.6% lower than the reference. Abstract: We report the first observation of the polarization of $\Lambda/\bar{\Lambda}$ hyperons transverse to its production plane in $e^+e^-$ annihilation. We observe a significant polarization that rises with the fractional energy carried by the hyperon as well as its transverse momentum. To define the production plane, we use the direction of the hyperon momentum together with either the thrust axis in the event or the momentum vector of a hadron in the opposite hemisphere. Furthermore, we investigate the contributions to the hyperon polarization from the feed-down from $\Sigma^0/\bar{\Sigma}^0$ and $\Lambda_c^{\pm}$ decays. This measurement uses a dataset of 800.4\~fb$^{-1}$ collected by the Belle experiment at or near a center-of-mass energy of 10.58 GeV., Comment: 14 pages, 7 figures

Abstract: The JSNS$^2$ (J-PARC E56) experiment aims to search for a sterile neutrino at the J-PARC Materials and Life Sciences Experimental Facility (MLF). After the submission of a proposal to the J-PARC PAC, Stage-1 approval was granted to the JSNS$^2$ experiment on April 2015.This approval followed a series of background measurements which were performed in 2014. Recently, funding (the grant-in-aid for scientific research (S)) in Japan for building one 25~ton fiducial volume detector module was approved for the experiment. Therefore, we aim to start the experiment with one detector in JFY2018-2019. We are now working to produce precise cost estimates and schedule for construction, noting that most of the detector components can be produced within one year from the date of order. This will be reported at the next PAC meeting. In parallel to the detector construction schedule, JSNS$^2$ will submit a Technical Design report (TDR) to obtain the Stage-2 approval from the J-PARC PAC.The recent progress of the R$\&$D efforts towards this TDR are shown in this report. In particular, the R$\&$D status of the liquid scintillator, cosmic ray veto system, and software are shown. We have performed a test-experiment using 1.6~L of liquid scintillator at the 3rd floor of the MLF building in order to determine the identities of non-neutrino background particles coming to this detector location during the proton bunch. This is the so-called "MLF 2015AU0001" experiment. We briefly show preliminary results from this test-experiment.

Abstract: In vortex-like spin arrangements, multiple spins can combine into emergent multipole moments. Such multipole moments have broken space-inversion and time-reversal symmetries, and can therefore exhibit linear magnetoelectric (ME) activity. Three types of such multipole moments are known: toroidal, monopole, and quadrupole moments. So far, however, the ME-activity of these multipole moments has only been established experimentally for the toroidal moment. Here, we propose a magnetic square cupola cluster, in which four corner-sharing square-coordinated metal-ligand fragments form a noncoplanar buckled structure, as a promising structural unit that carries an ME-active multipole moment. We substantiate this idea by observing clear magnetodielectric signals associated with an antiferroic ME-active magnetic quadrupole order in the real material Ba(TiO)Cu$_4$(PO$_4$)$_4$. Abstract: We report results on the studies of the $e^+e^-\to B_s^{(*)}\bar{B}_s^{(*)}$ processes. The results are based on a $121.4$ fb$^{-1}$ data sample collected with the Belle detector at the center-of-mass energy near the $\Upsilon(10860)$ peak and $16.4$ fb$^{-1}$ of data collected at 19 energy points in the range from 10.77 to 11.02 GeV. We observe a clear $e^+e^-\to\Upsilon(10860)\to B_s^{(*)}\bar{B}_s^{(*)}$ signal, with no statistically significant signal of $e^+e^-\to \Upsilon(11020)\to B_s^{(*)}\bar{B}_s^{(*)}$. The relative production ratio of $B_s^*\bar{B}_s^*$, $B_s\bar{B}_s^{*}$, and $B_s\bar{B}_s$ final states at $\sqrt{s}=10.866$ GeV is measured to be $7:$ $0.856\pm0.106(stat.)\pm0.053(syst.):$ $0.645\pm0.094(stat.)^{+0.030}_{-0.033}(syst.)$. An angular analysis of the $B_s^*\bar{B}_s^*$ final state produced at the $\Upsilon(10860)$ peak is also performed., Comment: 22 page, 6 figures

Abstract: We present the first measurement of the Michel parameters $\bar{\eta}$ and $\xi\kappa$ in the radiative leptonic decay of the $\tau$ lepton using 703 f$\mathrm{b}^{-1}$ of data collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB $e^+e^-$ collider. The Michel parameters are measured by an unbinned maximum likelihood fit to the kinematic information of $e^+e^-\rightarrow\tau^+\tau^-\rightarrow (\pi^+\pi^0 \bar{\nu})(l^-\nu\bar{\nu}\gamma)$ $(l=e$ or $\mu)$. The preliminary values of the measured Michel parameters are $\bar{\eta} = -2.0 \pm 1.5 \pm 0.8$ and $\xi\kappa = 0.6 \pm 0.4 \pm 0.2$, where the first error is statistical and the second is systematic.
