LYMPHOMA diagnosis ,CHRONIC diseases ,DIFFERENTIAL diagnosis ,LYMPHADENITIS ,SYMPTOMS - Abstract
Cutaneous lymphomas ( CLs) represent a group of lymphoproliferative disorders that can be difficult to diagnose in the early stage because they could mimic many benign inflammatory dermatoses (chronic eczema, bullous dermatosis, idiopathic erythroderma, psoriasis, lymphadenitis). Primary cutaneous B-cell lymphomas are a unique and controversial group of skin lymphomas characterised by the absence of extracutaneous manifestations at diagnosis. We present the case of a 60-year-old man with 7-month history of a growing inguinal mass/tumour, which was misdiagnosed as inguinal chronic lymphadenitis. Recognition of the correct entity, primary cutaneous diffuse large B-cell lymphoma leg type, led to an appropriate therapeutic strategy, knowing that these types of tumours behave more aggressively than other types of primary cutaneous B-cell lymphomas. The patient was discharged with rituximab + chemotherapy indication and favourable outcome. The aim of the presentation is to describe these common skin manifestations, however seen in a primary cutaneous B-cell lymphoma, which underlines the necessity of rigorous monitoring/long-term follow-up as well as exhaustive histopathological analysis for the diagnosis. micromechanics ,geometrical non-linearity ,finite element method - Abstract
In this work the general case of very large displacements of beam systems is considered ; the theoretical formulation is carried out considering the rotations as the unknown of the problem and using the exact axpression of the equilibrium equation. An overview of the analytical and numerical solutions is proposed. In particular a special type of finite element, that does not require an incremental approach, thus permitting fast and accurate results to be achieved, is suggested. To emphasize the applicability of the method several examples are finally presented.

- Abstract
Supplementing the traditional descriptive emic (intra-cultural) studies, and comparative etic (inter-cultural) analyses, with an idiographic approach (individual personality factors) seems to be an effective strategy for researching the process of cross-cultural adjustment, as experienced by immigrants or refugees. In a phenomenological research format, this double-case study, preceded by a pilot study, has tried to identify patterns of introversion and extraversion in the experience of recent immigrants to Canada during their cross-cultural adjustment process. The analytical perspective of C. G. Jung has been used in viewing the cross-cultural adjustment experience as part of the individuation process, as well as in defining and operationalizing the constructs of introversion and extraversion. The content analyses in the two case studies (one introvert participant and one extravert participant) and the pilot study (one introvert participant) have drawn from multiple sources of evidence: a two-hour in-depth semi-structured interview with each participant, their scores on the Myers Briggs Type Indicator, and the participants' responses on a sentence completion blank. In these three case studies (including the pilot study), typical introversion and extraversion themes have been identified and have been found to play an essential role in the immigrants' experience of adjustment to a different culture. The effectiveness of certain assessment techniques and intervention strategies has also been discussed. Implications of the Jungian type theory for the research and practice of cross-cultural counselling have been examined. This study may serve as a basis for the development of a three-dimensional model in cross-cultural counselling.

- Abstract
It is unclear whether the effect of canagliflozin on adverse kidney and cardiovascular events in those with diabetic kidney disease varies by age and sex. We assessed the effects of canagliflozin among age group categories and between sexes in the Canagliflozin and Renal Endpoints in Diabetes with Established Nephropathy Clinical Evaluation (CREDENCE) study.

This work deals with the evaluation of the departures from rectilinearity in parallel spring systems for high precision applications. The analysis is based on the study of large (non-linear) deflections of a cantilever beam loaded at the free end with forces of variable direction. Analytical an numerical (FDM, FEM) methods for the evaluation of the "parasitic" deflection perpendicular to the travel are considered and compared.

This paper addresses the post-communist history of Romania's spatial planning system with the two-fold aim of describing its evolution and identifying the role played by the EU in this process. Taking as a starting point the contradiction between the formal goals of Romanian spatial planning and the actual spatial development patterns, the paper proposes a contextualized analysis of the system's changes. It complements the focus on the formal technical dimension with a look at the broader socio-political context, driving forces and path dependencies. It identifies five episodes within this time frame and argues that they were catalysed by factors outside the immediate technical dimension of spatial planning, such as the changes in the Romanian political scene, the dynamics in the governance and planning culture, the evolution of the economy, the actual development patterns and most notably, by the process of Europeanization. While often the role of the EU is taken for granted as a general positive force for Romania, the paper makes instead the distinction between the use of Europeanization as a rhetorical external driving force and the real changes brought about by the process. LYMPHOPENIA , *REVERSE transcriptase polymerase chain reaction , *COVID-19 , *OLDER patients - Abstract
Background. With the latest COVID-19 deaths reported to WHO now exceeding 3.3 million, COVID-19 has developed into a milestone of our medical generation, causing disruption in communities and hospital services. With complications raging from respiratory failure to inflammatory complication and even thrombotic events, we wanted to establish if lymphopenia is a predictive marker of disease severity in patients infected with SARS-CoV-2. Material and methods. 152 patients were included from 4 different departments of Colentina Clinical Hospital in this retrospective observational study beginning with July 2020 to March 2021. All of these patients were confirmed with COVID-19 by real-time reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction test for nasal and pharyngeal swab samples. As including criteria we have set the patients hospitalized confirmed with COVID-19, with at least 10 days of hospitalization. The data in demographic, basic clinical and laboratory characteristics and particular evolution was obtained from electronical medical records from each department involved in the study, by maintaining personal data confidentially. We set up criteria for lymphopenia as absolute lymphocyte count below 1.5 x 1000/μl, based on the laboratory reference values. The study group was divided into several groups: male and female, ICU (Intensive Care Unit) and non-ICU, deceased and released, lymphopenia at day 1 (day of admission to hospital), lymphopenia at day 10 (10 days after hospital admission). Results. The age of the patients ranged from 17 to 92, with the median age of 57.62. Enrolled were 73 (47.4%) female patients and 79 (52.6%) male patients, with an ICU admission rate of 35.71% (55 patients), and a mortality rate of 21.43% (33 patients). Patients who have a severe form of COVID-19 and are admitted to the ICU for mechanical ventilation did not recover and died (p < 0.001). Male patients may have higher risk of requiring admission in ICU (p value = 0.357) and higher risk of death (p value = 0.241). Even in our small group of 152 patients, the elderly patients suffered a more severe form of the disease, which was reflected on the number of admission days (p = 0.07). In our specific population, based on the statistics, if we take the number of lymphocytes on the day of admission as the dependent factor, we can safely say that there is a statistically significant correlation between lymphopenia at day 1 and the ICU admission (p < 0.001) or death (p = 0.014). The number of lymphocytes following 10 days of admission is another prognostic marker as we can see from the results of statistic tests: there is a statistically significant correlation between lymphopenia at day 10 and the ICU admission (p < 0.001) or death (p < 0.001). Age is another predictive factor regarding the number of lymphocytes following 10 days of admission (r = -0.078 and p = 0.356). Conclusion. Lymphopenia is an easy-to-determine, efficient and reliable biomarker to establish the disease evolution in patients with COVID-19. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

PHYSIOLOGICAL effects of vitamin D , *ENDOTHELIUM diseases , *DIABETES - Abstract
Controversy exists over the role of the active form of vitamin D, 1,25-dihydroxycholecalciferol, in the cardiovascular system in the presence of diabetes mellitus. The present study were purported to investigate the protective effect of 1,25-vitamin D3 on endothelial function in diabetic rats. To this aim, male Sprague-Dawley rats (8 weeks old) were injected with streptozotocin (STZ, 50 mg/kg, single injection intraperitoneally) to induce diabetes. After one month of hyperglycemia, thoracic aorta was removed and used for organ bath experiments. Endothelial function was evaluated in aortic rings isolated from diabetic and control animals, after 24 hours incubation in the absence or presence of 1,25-cholecalciferol (0.1 μM). Endothelial-dependent relaxation to acetylcholine was significantly reduced in diabetic as compared with normal rats. Vitamin D significantly improved vascular function in diabetic rat aortic segments. In conclusion, in vitro administration of vitamin D alleviated diabetes-induced endothelial dysfunction in experimental setting. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
