The eradication of poverty, which was the first of the millennium development goals (MDG) established by the United Nations and followed by the sustainable development goals (SDG), requires knowing where the poor are located. Traditionally, household surveys are considered the best source of information on the living standards of a country’s population. Data from these surveys typically provide a sufficiently accurate direct estimate of household expenditures or income and thus estimates of poverty at the national level and larger international regions. However, when one starts to disaggregate data by local areas or population subgroups, the quality of these direct estimates diminishes. Consequently, national statistical offices (NSOs) cannot provide reliable wellbeing statistical figures at a local level. For example, the module of socioeconomic conditions of the Mexican national survey of household income and expenditure (ENIGH) is designed to produce estimates of poverty and inequality at the national level and for the 32 federate entities (31 states and Mexico City) with disaggregation by rural and urban zones, every two years, but there is a mandate to produce estimates by municipality every five years, and the ENIGH alone cannot provide estimates for all municipalities with adequate precision. This makes monitoring progress toward the sustainable development goals more difficult.

El principal objetivo que se persigue tras este trabajo es abrir el comienzo de una línea de investigación sobre el comportamiento que muestran los morteros de arcilla destinados como revoco ante distintas condiciones ambientales, aplicación sobre soportes y dosificaciones de cal en pasta como estabilizador. Además, dada la falta de normativa reguladora en España sobre la caracterización de los morteros de tierra, el ensayo ayudará a definir unos criterios básicos para su dosificación y puesta en obra. Debido al corto tiempo que se dispone para realizar esta investigación, se propone un análisis de su aptitud al servicio mediante los resultados obtenidos de resistencia a la adhesión. Para ello, se tendrá en cuenta una planificación previa sobre el tipo y número de muestras a ensayar, su composición y normas de referencia que se puedan aplicar. Tras el ensayo, se podrá cuantificar el grado de influencia que tienen estos apartados, siendo de gran relevancia la mineralogía de las arcillas utilizadas, la cantidad de aditivo y agua y el tipo de aplicación. The main purpose of this work is to start a series of studies on the behaviour of clay mortars intended for plastering under different environmental conditions, application on substrates and dosages of lime paste as a stabilizer. In addition, given the lack of regulatory standards in Spain about the characterization of earth mortars, the test will help to define some basic criteria for their dosage and application on site. Due to the short time available to carry out this research, an analysis of its suitability for service is proposed by means of the results obtained for adherence resistance. For this purpose, a prior planning of the type and number of samples to be tested, their composition and reference regulations that can be applied will be taken into account. After the analysis, it will be possible to quantify the degree of influence that these sections have, being of great relevance the mineralogy of the clays used, the quantity of additive, water and the type of application. Community-onset bloodstream infections (CO-BSI) caused by gram-negative bacilli are common and associated with significant mortality; those caused by Pseudomonas aeruginosa are associated with worse prognosis and higher rates of inadequateempirical antibiotic treatment. The aims of this study were to describe the characteristics of patients with CO-BSI caused by P. aeruginosa, to identify predictors, and to develop a predictive score for P. aeruginosa CO-BSI. Materials/methods: PROBAC is a prospective cohort including patients >14 years with BSI from 26 Spanish hospitals between October 2016 and May 2017. Patients with monomicrobial P. aeruginosa CO-BSI and monomicrobial Enterobacterales CO-BSI were included. Variables of interest were collected. Independent predictors of Pseudomonas aeruginosa CO-BSI were identified by logistic regression and a prediction score was developed. Results: A total of 78patients with P. aeruginosa CO-BSI and 2572 with Enterobacterales CO-BSI were included. Patients with P. aeruginosa had a median age of 70 years (IQR 60-79), 68.8% were male, median Charlson score was 5 (IQR 3-7), and 30-daymortality was 18.5%. Multivariate analysis identified the following predictors of CO-BSI-PA [adjusted OR (95% CI)]: male gender [1.89 (1.14-3.12)], haematological malignancy [2.45 (1.20-4.99)], obstructive uropathy [2.86 (1.13-3.02)], source of infection other than urinary tract, biliary tract or intra-abdominal [6.69 (4.10-10.92)] and healthcare-associated BSI [1.85 (1.13-3.02)]. Anindex predictive of CO-BSI-PA was developed; scores ? 3.5 showed a negative predictive value of 89% and an area under the receiver operator curve (ROC) of 0.66. Conclusions: We did not find a good predictive score of P. aeruginosa CO-BSI due to its relatively low incidence in the overall population. Our model includes variables that are easy to collect in real clinical practice and could be useful to detect patients with very low risk of P. aeruginosa CO-BSI. Introduction: Neurodegenerative diseases (NDs) are one of the major causes of dependency among older people. Since family members assume most of the care, the impact of NDs goes beyond the patient and affects the functioning of the entire family. Nonetheless, the concept of Family Quality of Life (FQOL) is still insufficiently developed in this field: the literature has focused on family caregivers from an individual perspective, paying less attention to the family unit. Hence, the objectives were to describe FQOL of people with NDs and to identify factors associated, from a holistic point of view. Method: The sample consisted of 300 family members of patients with NDs (70% females; mean age: 62.4) living in the cross-border region of Spain-Portugal, mostly in rural areas. The majority were primary caregivers. They completed the FQOLS–ND via telephone. This survey examined how the family perceived its FQOL at the global and domain-level, in terms of attainment and satisfaction (measured on a 5-point Likert scale). It also collected data on diverse respondents’ and family characteristics. Results: The average score in Global FQOL was 3.65 (SD = 0.70) for attainment and 3.69 (SD = 0.47) for satisfaction. By domains, the highest value was found in Family Relations and the lowest in Support from services. Twenty hierarchical multiple regressions examined the potential predictors of Global FQOL and the nine domains for attainment and satisfaction. Medium predictive values (from R2=.14 to R2=.20) were found in Financial wellbeing (satisfaction), Support from services, and Leisure. The number of perceived barriers to social-health services was a significant predictor in all the explanatory models (the most frequently cited being: long wait for service, services not available, problems with transportation, lack of information, and financial costs). Conclusions: These results confirm that NDs are especially challenging in rural areas, where families feel more isolated and have fewer opportunities to receive professional support. Therefore, there is a need to design of a specific portfolio of services, resources and benefits that involves the key sectors of family welfare (public, private, third sector and family) and brings them closer to these areas, covering all the needs.

Introduction: When neurodegenerative disease (ND) is diagnosed, the family’s quality of life (FQoL) changes drastically. Within the concept of FQoL, the supports they receive from others at the community level and from services is one of the most important issues. Nonetheless, studies available using a mixed-methods approach are still limited. Consequently, the objective was to study the domains of support from services and support from others (emotional and practical), through the application of a quantitative instrument and the conduction of focus groups. Method: Three hundred relatives of people with ND, recruited from Regional Health Management of Castille and 14 Leon (Spain) completed the instrument FQOLS–ND, a specific scale for measuring quality of life in families caring for people with a ND. The mean age of the sample is 62.4 years and the majority are females (70%). In addition, a focus group was carried out with 10 family members (70% females, mean age= 61.6) aiming at the analysis of the quality of life domains. Results: The domains support of others (emotional and practical) and support from services achieved low quantitative levels specially in terms of achievement (M emotional =3.30; SD emotional = 1.21; M practical = 3.09, SD practical = 1.26; M services = 2.83; SD services = 1.02;). In the focus group, the main topics mentioned as negatively affecting the FQoL were social isolation, access and correct follow-up in specialized care services, lack of information on the diagnosis and progression of ND and on the needs of the person, and lack of empathy of professionals and others. Conclusions: ND negatively and significantly affects the family as a whole. Despite this, the emotional and practical support they receive from both other community members and professionals and services is still very insufficient. Therefore, it is important to raise awareness of the needs of this population and to carry out transformations in the attention provided.
