Dysregulation of polyamine metabolism has been associated with the development of many cancers. However, little information has been reported about the associations between elevated extracellular putrescine and epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) of gastric cancer (GC) cells. In this study, the influence of extracellular putrescine on the malignant behavior and EMT of the AGS and MKN-28 cells was investigated, followed by RNA sequencing profiling of transcriptomic alterations and CUT&Tag sequencing capturing H3K27ac variations across the global genome using extracellular putrescine. Our results demonstrated that the administration of extracellular putrescine significantly promoted the proliferation, migration, invasion, and expression of N-cadherin in GC cells. We also observed elevated H3K27ac in MKN-28 cells but not in AGS cells when extracellular putrescine was used. A combination of transcriptomic alterations and genome-wide variations of H3K27ac highlighted the upregulated MAL2 and H3K27ac in its promoter region. Knockdown and overexpression of MAL2 were found to inhibit and promote EMT, respectively, in AGS and MKN-28 cells. A series of Ce-doped MoVO x composite metal oxide catalysts were prepared by the rotary evaporation method. The effects of Ce doping ratio on the crystal phase composition, morphology and surface properties of the catalysts were investigated. The results show that the crystal phase composition of samples with different Ce doping content is also obviously different. When the doping amount is small, V 0.95 Mo 0.97 O 5 is the main crystal phase, while MoO 3 is dominant when the doping amount is large. The Ce-doped catalyst showed obvious rod-shaped morphology and its average single point pore diameter and the number of acidic sites increased. Compared to the un-doped MoVO x , the pore size of the sample synthesized at a Mo/Ce atomic ratio of 10/1 exhibited an increase of 41.11 nm. In addition, the effect of Ce doping on the catalytic performance of MoVO x was investigated with the selective oxidation of benzyl alcohol as a probe reaction. After doping, the MoVO x catalyst showed improved benzyl alcohol conversion and selectivity to benzaldehyde. At a Mo/Ce atomic ratio of 10/1, the conversion rate of benzyl alcohol reaches 83.26%, which is 64.56% higher than that without doping, and the highest product yield can reach 76.47%., Competing Interests: There are no conflicts to declare., (This journal is © The Royal Society of Chemistry.)

A fast and simple sub-/supercritical water synthesis method is presented in this work in which MoVTeNbO x -mixed metal oxides with various phase compositions and morphologies could be synthesized without post-heat treatment. It was demonstrated that the system temperature for synthesis had a significant influence on the physico-chemical properties of MoVTeNbO x . Higher temperatures were beneficial for the formation of a mixed crystalline phase containing TeVO 4 , Te 3 Mo 2 V 2 O 17 , Mo 4 O 11 and TeO 2 , which are very different from the crystalline phases of conventional Mo-V-Te-Nb-mixed metal oxides. While at lower temperatures, Mo 4 O 11 was replaced by Te. At high temperature, the as-prepared samples presented distinct nanoflake morphologies with an average size of 10-60 nm in width and exhibited excellent catalytic performances in the selective oxidation of propylene to acrylic acid. It is illustrated that the large specific surface area, presence of Mo 4 O 11 and superficial Mo 6+ and Te 4+ ions are responsible for the high propylene conversion, while suitable acidic sites and superficial Nb 5+ ions improved the selectivity to acrylic acid., Competing Interests: There are no conflicts of interest to declare., (This journal is © The Royal Society of Chemistry.)

As a traditional thermoelectric material with high thermoelectric performance at room temperature, antimony telluride (Sb 2 Te 3 ) has been widely used in energy applications like power generation and refrigeration. By employing the "atomic transmutation" method, three new kinds of Sb 2 Te 3 -based monolayers of α-Sb 2 Te 2 Se, α-Sb 2 TeSe 2 , and β-Sb 2 TeSe 2 are designed, which are expected to possess a high thermoelectric performance due to the quantum-confinement effects. In this work, by using the ab initio calculations, we systematically study electronic structures, vibration modes, optical, transport, and thermoelectric properties for the three kinds of monolayers and find that they are indirect-band-gap semiconductor materials with chemical and thermodynamic stability up to 700 K (α-Sb 2 TeSe 2 ) or 900 K (α-Sb 2 Te 2 Se and β-Sb 2 TeSe 2 ). The band gaps are around 1.0 eV with five nearly degenerate peaks in valence bands. The three Sb 2 Te 3- x Se x monolayers possess high electron mobilities larger than 1000 cm 2 /(V s), and the maximum zT values of α-Sb 2 Te 2 Se/α-Sb 2 TeSe 2 /β-Sb 2 TeSe 2 are 0.70/0.71/0.65 at 300 K, respectively. For optical properties, the three Sb 2 Te 3- x Se x monolayers possess a wide absorption range from the blue region to the ultraviolet region. Compared with Sb 2 Te 3 , the three new kinds of monolayers possess a wider range of absorptions, higher mobilities, and thermoelectric performances, which may lead to promising applications in thermoelectric devices and saturable absorbers.
