Abstract

A highly efficient gas sensor for the detection of triethylamine based on candy-like WO3/Fe2O3 nanocomposite was prepared. The control of morphology and sensing performance of n–n heterojunction WO3/Fe2O3 nanocomposites were successfully achieved by the modulation of Fe element content. When the ratio of Fe to W is 0.4, the candy-like nanocomposite of WO3/Fe2O3 with great performance is obtained. It is interesting that the candy-like nanocomposite of WO3/Fe2O3 with a large specific surface area exhibits better selectivity and sensitivity for sensing TEA gases at a lower operating temperature (260 °C) compared with the gas sensor prepared by using WO3 alone. To verify the feasibility, the sensing mechanism was investigated and real sample tests were conducted and discussed. Finally, a TEA gas sensor with low limit of detection, short response/recovery time (15/162 s), and high sensitivity was developed. Abstract

Background. Cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (CMR) is an effective technique for the diagnosis of cardiac sarcoidosis (CS). The efficacy of CMR versus the Japanese Ministry of Health and Welfare (JMHW) guidelines considered as standard criterion for the diagnosis of CS remains to be elucidated.Methods. In this systematic review and meta-analysis, we aimed at assessing the diagnostic accuracy of CMR in cardiac sarcoidosis. We searched on PubMed from January 1, 1980, to March 28, 2018, on Embase from January 1, 1980, to March 29, 2018, and on the Cochrane Library from January 1, 1980, to April 1, 2018, using a strategy based on the search terms (sarcoidosis and magnetic resonance imaging) independently. We analyzed the data obtained with Revman 5.3 and Stata 14.0 software.Results. Eight studies with a total of 649 participants met the inclusion criteria, and data were extracted. CMR had an overall sensitivity of 0.93 (95% confidence interval (CI), 0.87–0.97) and specificity of 0.85 (95% CI, 0.68–0.94) for the diagnosis of cardiac sarcoidosis. The area under the summary receiver operating characteristic (SROC) curve was 0.95 (95% CI, 0.93–0.97). The subgroup analysis via public year showed that studies between 2011 and 2017 had an overall sensitivity of 0.95 (95% CI, 0.88–0.98) and specificity of 0.92 (95% CI, 0.49–0.99), with an area under the SROC curve being 0.96.Conclusions. The results of this meta-analysis suggest that CMR could be used for the diagnosis of cardiac sarcoidosis and screening of patients suspected of CS. With the improvement of the technique, the diagnostic accuracy of MRI has improved.

Abstract

Modern statistical analyses often involve testing large numbers of hypotheses. In many situations, these hypotheses may have an underlying tree structure that both helps determine the order that tests should be conducted but also imposes a dependency between tests that must be accounted for. Our motivating example comes from testing the association between a trait of interest and groups of microbes that have been organized into operational taxonomic units (OTUs) or amplicon sequence variants (ASVs). Given p-values from association tests for each individual OTU or ASV, we would like to know if we can declare a certain species, genus, or higher taxonomic group to be associated with the trait. For this problem, a bottom-up testing algorithm that starts at the lowest level of the tree (OTUs or ASVs) and proceeds upward through successively higher taxonomic groupings (species, genus, family, etc.) is required. We develop such a bottom-up testing algorithm that controls a novel error rate that we call the false selection rate. By simulation, we also show that our approach is better at finding driver taxa, the highest level taxa below which there are dense association signals. Abstract

In recent years, regenerative electric heating (REH) equipment has been gradually promoted on the agenda, which has better energy saving quality than ordinary electric heating. REH has good control performance and has important economic value in peak regulation and environmental protection due to the thermal storage unit. In this paper, a "Gas-REH" joint optimal operation model with the objective function of minimum total energy cost is established, which is based on the gas heating model and considers thermal comfort for users. An optimal operation method of group load for REH considering economic benefit is proposed. Finally, a typical example analysis is given by YALMIP platform and CPLEX software package in MATLAB, and the result shows that compared to existing gas heating methods, "Gas-REH" joint optimal operation model can effectively reduce the energy cost of residents. The proposed optimal operation method fully responds to the peak and valley electricity price, it can also realize economic operation and indirectly respond to the power grid peak load shifting at the same time.

Abstract

At present, driverless vehicles have become another important developing direction for emancipating mankind. For the current development stage of driverless vehicles, trajectory tracking capability is a very significant part, and its control effect has a great impact on driverless vehicles Nowadays, the application of vehicle dynamics in the research of trajectory tracking control strategy is very limited. This paper will design a trajectory tracking strategy for driverless vehicles based on vehicle dynamics. Firstly, we establish a 7-DOF dynamic model of vehicle. And the Magic Formula tire model is built based on the experimental data. Then we begin to design trajectory tracking control strategy. Through the vertical and horizontal control of the driverless vehicle, the stability limit can be achieved and the accuracy of trajectory tracking can be guaranteed. Based on the designed trajectory tracking control strategy, the principle prototype vehicle is used to verify. The experimental results show that the proposed trajectory tracking control strategy works well and achieves the goal, which is to reach the stability limit and ensure the accuracy of trajectory tracking. The principle prototype vehicle is used to verify the designed trajectory tracking control strategy.

Abstract

Stroke survivors have exercise intolerance that contributes to reduced quality of life and survival. While exaggerated blood pressure responses during exercise have been documented in other chronic diseases, whether stroke patients have abnormal hemodynamic responses during aerobic exercise remains unexplored. This cross-sectional study aimed to examine whether stroke survivors have exaggerated increases in blood pressure during maximal treadmill exercise and whether these responses may be related to systemic inflammation. Forty-six participants (25 stroke survivors, STROKE, and 21 controls, CON) performed a maximal treadmill exercise test via the modified Naughton protocol while blood pressure was measured manually during each treadmill stage. A linear mixed model was used to compare the slope of rise in heart rate and blood pressure within and between groups. Spearmans rho analysis was performed to explore the relationship between these responses and circulating concentrations of inflammatory biomarkers. The STROKE group exhibited a lower VO2peak (16.4 ± 0.8 vs. 30.0 ± 1.8 ml/kg/min, P <.001) and a greater rate of increase in systolic blood pressure compared to CON (17.4 ± 1.5 vs. 9.9 ± 1.4 mmHg/stage, P <.001). We observed no relationship; however, between inflammatory biomarkers and the exaggerated hemodynamic responses in the STROKE group. In conclusion, stroke survivors exhibit greater increases in systolic blood pressure during maximal treadmill exercise compared to controls. These responses do not appear to be related to systemic inflammation. Future work should seek to delineate the mechanisms responsible for exaggerated blood pressure responses during exercise in stroke. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
