We study chaos and hyperchaos of Rydberg-dressed Bose-Einstein condensates (BECs) in a one-dimensional optical lattice. Due to the long-range soft-core interaction between the dressed atoms, the dynamics of the BECs are described by the extended Bose-Hubbard model. In the mean-field regime, we analyze the dynamical stability of the BEC by focusing on the groundstate and localized state configuration. Lyapunov exponents of the two configurations are calculated by varying the soft-core interaction strength, potential bias and length of the lattice. Both configurations can have multiple positive Lyapunov exponents, exhibiting hyperchaotic dynamics. We show the dependence of the number of the positive Lyapunov exponents and the largest Lyapunov exponent on the length of the optical lattice. The largest Lyapunov exponent is directly proportional to areas of phase space encompassed by the associated Poincar\'e sections. We demonstrate that linear and hysteresis quenches of the lattice potential and the dressed interaction lead to distinct dynamics due to the chaos and hyperchaos. The generation of squeezed light in semiconductor materials opens opportunities for building on-chip devices that are operated at the quantum level. Here we study theoretically a squeezed light source of polariton dark solitons confined in a geometric potential well of semiconductor microcavities in the strong coupling regime. We show that polariton dark solitons of odd and even parities can be created by tuning the potential depth. When driving the potential depth linearly, a bistability of solitons with the two different parities can be induced. Strong intensity squeezing is obtained near the turning point of the bistability due to the large nonlinear interaction, which can be controlled by Feshbach resonance. The phase diagram of the bistability and squeezing of the dark solitons is obtained through large scale numerical calculations. Quantum state transport is an important way to study the energy or information flow. By combining the unconventional Rydberg pumping mechanism and the diagonal form of van der Waals interactions, we construct a theoretical model via second-order perturbation theory to realize a long-range coherent transport inside the ground-state manifold of neutral atoms system. With the adjustment of the Rabi frequencies and the interatomic distance, this model can be used to simulate various single-body physics phenomena such as Heisenberg $XX$ spin chain restricted in the single-excitation manifold, coherently perfect quantum state transfer, parameter adjustable Su-Schrieffer-Heeger model, and chiral motion of atomic excitation in the triangle by varying the geometrical arrangement of the three atoms, which effectively avoid the influence of atomic spontaneous emission at the same time. Moreover, the influence of atomic position fluctuation on the fidelity of quantum state transmission is discussed in detail, and the corresponding numerical results show that our work provides a robust and easy-implemented scheme for quantum state transport with neutral atoms., Comment: 20pages, 21 figures, published in Phys. In this report, we (SuperHelix team) present our solution to KDD Cup 2021-PCQM4M-LSC, a large-scale quantum chemistry dataset on predicting HOMO-LUMO gap of molecules. Our solution, Lite Geometry Enhanced Molecular representation learning (LiteGEM) achieves a mean absolute error (MAE) of 0.1204 on the test set with the help of deep graph neural networks and various self-supervised learning tasks. Advertising click fraud detection plays one of the vital roles in current E-commerce websites as advertising is an essential component of its business model. It aims at, given a set of corresponding features, e.g., demographic information of users and statistical features of clicks, predicting whether a click is fraudulent or not in the community. Recent efforts attempted to incorporate attributed behavior sequence and heterogeneous network for extracting complex features of users and achieved significant effects on click fraud detection. In this paper, we propose a Multimodal and Contrastive learning network for Click Fraud detection (MCCF). Specifically, motivated by the observations on differences of demographic information, behavior sequences and media relationship between fraudsters and genuine users on E-commerce platform, MCCF jointly utilizes wide and deep features, behavior sequence and heterogeneous network to distill click representations. Moreover, these three modules are integrated by contrastive learning and collaboratively contribute to the final predictions. With the real-world datasets containing 2.54 million clicks on Alibaba platform, we investigate the effectiveness of MCCF. The experimental results show that the proposed approach is able to improve AUC by 7.2% and F1-score by 15.6%, compared with the state-of-the-art methods., Comment: Accepted to DeMal@WWW 2021

We study theoretically the deformation of the Fermi surface (FS) of a three-dimensional gas of Rydberg-dressed $^6$Li atoms. The laser dressing to high-lying Rydberg $D$ states results in angle-dependent soft-core-shaped interactions whose anisotropy is described by multiple spherical harmonics. We show that this can drastically modify the shape of the FS and that its deformation depends on the interplay between the Fermi momentum $k_F$ and the reciprocal momentum $\bar{k}$ corresponding to the characteristic soft-core radius of the dressing-induced potential. When $k_F< \bar{k}$, the dressed interaction stretches a spherical FS into an ellipsoid. When $k_F\gtrsim \bar{k}$, complex deformations are encountered which exhibit multipolar characteristics. We analyze the formation of Cooper pairs around the deformed FS and show that they occupy large orbital angular momentum states ($p$, $f$, and $h$ wave) coherently. The association process of Feshbach molecules is well described by a Landau-Zener (LZ) transition above the Fermi temperature, such that two-body physics dominates the dynamics. However, using $^6$Li atoms and the associated Feshbach resonance at $B_r=834.1$ G, we observe an enhancement of the atom-molecule coupling as the fermionic atoms reach degeneracy, demonstrating the importance of many-body coherence not captured by the conventional LZ model. In the experiment, we apply a linear association ramp ranging from adiabatic to non-equilibrium molecule association for various temperatures. We develop a theoretical model that explains the temperature dependence of the atom-molecule coupling. Furthermore, we characterize this dependence experimentally and extract the atom-molecule coupling coefficient as a function of temperature, finding qualitative agreement between our model and experimental results. In addition, we simulate the dynamics of molecular association during a nonlinear field ramp. We find that, in the non-equilibrium regime, molecular association efficiency can be enhanced by sweeping the magnetic field cubically with time. Accurate measurement of the atom-molecule coupling coefficient is important for both theoretical and experimental studies of molecular association and many-body collective dynamics., Comment: 18 pages, 6 figures

We propose an adiabatic method for optimal phonon temperature estimation using trapped ions which can be operated beyond the Lamb-Dicke regime. The quantum sensing technique relies on a time-dependent red-sideband transition of phonon modes, described by the non-linear Jaynes-Cummings model in general. A unique feature of our sensing technique is that the relevant information of the phonon thermal distributions can be transferred to the collective spin-degree of freedom. We show that each of the thermal state probabilities is adiabatically mapped onto the respective collective spin-excitation configuration and thus the temperature estimation is carried out simply by performing a spin-dependent laser fluorescence measurement at the end of the adiabatic transition. We characterize the temperature uncertainty in terms of the Fisher information and show that the state projection measurement saturates the fundamental quantum Cram\'er-Rao bound for quantum oscillator at thermal equilibrium., Comment: 8 pages, 7 figures

Quantum holonomic gates hold built-in resilience to local noises and provide a promising approach for implementing fault-tolerant quantum computation. We propose to realize high-fidelity holonomic $(N+1)$-qubit controlled gates using Rydberg atoms confined in optical arrays or superconducting circuits. We identify the scheme, deduce the effective multi-body Hamiltonian, and determine the working condition of the multiqubit gate. Uniquely, the multiqubit gate is immune to systematic errors, i.e., laser parameter fluctuations and motional dephasing, as the $N$ control atoms largely remain in the much stable qubit space during the operation. We show that $C_N$-NOT gates can reach same level of fidelity at a given gate time for $N\leq5$ under a suitable choice of parameters, and the gate tolerance against errors in systematic parameters can be further enhanced through optimal pulse engineering. In case of Rydberg atoms, the proposed protocol is intrinsically different from typical schemes based on Rydberg blockade or antiblockade. Our study paves a new route to build robust multiqubit gates with Rydberg atoms trapped in optical arrays or with superconducting circuits. Conical intersections between electronic potential energy surfaces are paradigmatic for the study of non-adiabatic processes in the excited states of large molecules. However, since the corresponding dynamics occurs on a femtosecond timescale, their investigation remains challenging and requires ultrafast spectroscopy techniques. We demonstrate that trapped Rydberg ions are a platform to engineer conical intersections and to simulate their ensuing dynamics on larger length and time scales of the order of nanometers and microseconds, respectively; all this in a highly controllable system. Here, the shape of the potential energy surfaces and the position of the conical intersection can be tuned thanks to the interplay between the high polarizability and the strong dipolar exchange interactions of Rydberg ions. We study how the presence of a conical intersection affects both the nuclear and electronic dynamics demonstrating, in particular, how it results in the inhibition of the nuclear motion. We study nonlinear dynamics of Rydberg-dressed Bose-Einstein condensates (BECs) trapped in a triple-well potential in the semiclassical limit. The Rydberg-dressed BECs experience a long-range soft-core interaction, giving rise to strong nearest and next-nearest neighbor interactions in the triple-well system. Using mean-field Gross-Pitaevskii (GP) equations, we show that lower branches of the eigenspectra exhibit loops and level-crossings when the soft-core interaction is strong. The direct level-crossings eliminate the possibility of adiabatic Landau-Zener transitions when tilting of the triple-well potential. We demonstrate that the long-range interaction allows for self-trapping in one, two, or three wells, in a far more controllable manor than BECs with short-range or dipolar interactions. Exact quantum simulations of the three-well Bose-Hubbard model indicate that self-trapping and nonadiabatic transition can be observed with less than a dozen bosons. An ensemble of excited atoms can synchronize emission of light collectively in a process known as superradiance when its characteristic size is smaller than the wavelength of emitted photons. The underlying superradiance depends strongly on electromagnetic (photon) fields surrounding the atomic ensemble. High mode densities of microwave photons from $300\,$K blackbody radiation (BBR) significantly enhance decay rates of Rydberg states to neighbouring states, enabling superradiance that is not possible with bare vacuum induced spontaneous decay. Here we report observations of the superradiance of ultracold Rydberg atoms embedded in a bath of room-temperature photons. The temporal evolution of the Rydberg $|nD\rangle$ to $|(n+1)P\rangle$ superradiant decay of Cs atoms ($n$ the principal quantum number) is measured directly in free space. Theoretical simulations confirm the BBR enhanced superradiance in large Rydberg ensembles. We demonstrate that the van der Waals interactions between Rydberg atoms change the superradiant dynamics and modify the scaling of the superradiance. In the presence of static electric fields, we find that the superradiance becomes slow, potentially due to many-body interaction induced dephasing. Our study provides insights into many-body dynamics of interacting atoms coupled to thermal BBR, and might open a route to the design of blackbody thermometry at microwave frequencies via collective, dissipative photon-atom interactions.

We study the population trapping extensively in a periodically driven Rydberg pair. The periodic modulation of the atom-light detuning effectively suppresses the Rabi couplings and, together with Rydberg-Rydberg interactions, leads to the state-dependent population trapping. We identify a simple yet a general scheme to determine population trapping regions using driving induced resonances, the Floquet spectrum, and the inverse participation ratio. Contrary to the single atom case, we show that the population trapping in the two-atom setup may not necessarily be associated with level crossings in the Floquet spectrum. Further, we discuss under what criteria population trapping can be related to dynamical stabilization, taking specific and experimentally relevant initial states, which include both product and the maximally entangled Bell states. We propose a nonadiabatic non-Abelian geometric quantum operation scheme to realize universal quantum computation with mesoscopic Rydberg atoms. A single control atom entangles a mesoscopic ensemble of target atoms through long-range interactions between Rydberg states. We demonstrate theoretically that both the single qubit and two-qubit quantum gates can achieve high fidelities around or above 99.9% in ideal situations. Besides, to address the experimental issue of Rabi frequency fluctuation (Rabi error) in Rydberg atom and ensemble, we apply the dynamical-invariant-based zero systematic-error sensitivity (ZSS) optimal control theory to the proposed scheme. Our numerical simulations show that the average fidelity could be 99.98% for single ensemble qubit gate and 99.94% for two-qubit gate even when the Rabi frequency of the gate laser acquires 10% fluctuations. We also find that the optimized scheme can also reduce errors caused by higher-order perturbation terms in deriving the Hamiltonian of the ensemble atoms. To address the experimental issue of decoherence error between the ground state and Rydberg levels in Rydberg ensemble, we introduce a dispersive coupling regime between Rydberg and ground levels, based on which the Rydberg state is adiabatically discarded. The numerical simulation demonstrate that the quantum gate is enhanced. By combining strong Rydberg atom interactions, nonadiabatic geometric quantum computation, dynamical invariant and optimal control theory together, our scheme shows a new route to construct fast and robust quantum gates with mesoscopic atomic ensembles. Spontaneous symmetry breaking and formation of self-organized structures in nonlinear systems are intriguing and important phenomena in nature. Advancing such research to new nonlinear optical regimes is of much interest for both fundamental physics and practical applications. Here we propose a scheme to realize optical pattern formation in a cold Rydberg atomic gas via electromagnetically induced transparency. We show that, by coupling two Rydberg states with a microwave field (microwave dressing), the nonlocal Kerr nonlinearity of the Rydberg gas can be enhanced significantly and may be tuned actively. Based on such nonlocal Kerr nonlinearity, we demonstrate that a plane-wave state of probe laser field can undergo a modulation instability (MI) and hence spontaneous symmetry breaking, which may result in the emergence of various self-organized optical patterns. Especially, we find that a hexagonal lattice pattern (which is the only optical pattern when the microwave dressing is absent) may develop into several types of square lattice ones when the microwave dressing is applied; moreover, as a outcome of the MI the formation of nonlocal optical solitons is also possible in the system. Different from earlier studies, the optical patterns and nonlocal optical solitons found here can be flexibly manipulated by adjusting the effective probe-field intensity, nonlocality degree of the Kerr nonlinearity, and the strength of the microwave field. Resonant laser excitation of multiple Rydberg atoms are prohibited, leading to Rydberg blockade, when the long-range van der Waals interactions are stronger than the laser-atom coupling. Rydberg blockade can be violated, i.e. simultaneous excitation of more than one Rydberg atoms, by off-resonant laser excitation, causing an excitation antiblockade. Rydberg antiblockade gives rise to strongly correlated many-body dynamics and spin-orbit coupling, and also finds quantum computation applications. Instead of commonly used van der Waals interactions, we investigate antiblockade dynamics of two Rydberg atoms interacting via dipole-dipole exchange interactions. We study typical situations in current Rydberg atoms experiments, where different types of dipole-dipole interactions can be achieved by varying Rydberg state couplings. Effective Hamiltonian governing underlying antiblockade dynamics is derived. We illustrate that geometric gates can be realized with the Rydberg antiblockade which is robust against decay of Rydberg states. Trapped Rydberg ions represent a flexible platform for quantum simulation and information processing which combines a high degree of control over electronic and vibrational degrees of freedom. The possibility to individually excite ions to high-lying Rydberg levels provides a system where strong and long-range interactions between pairs of excited ions can be engineered and tuned via external laser fields. We show that the coupling between Rydberg pair interactions and collective motional modes gives rise to effective long-range multi-body interactions, consisting of two, three, and four-body terms. Their shape, strength, and range can be controlled via the ion trap parameters and strongly depends on both the equilibrium configuration and vibrational modes of the ion crystal. By focusing on an experimentally feasible quasi one-dimensional setup of $ {}^{88}\mathrm{Sr}^+ $ Rydberg ions, we demonstrate that multi-body interactions are enhanced by the emergence of a soft mode associated, e.g., with a structural phase transition. This has a striking impact on many-body electronic states and results, for example, in a three-body anti-blockade effect. We study dispersive optical nonlinearities of short pulses propagating in high number density, warm atomic vapors where the laser resonantly excites atoms to Rydberg $P$-states via a single-photon transition. Three different regimes of the light-atom interaction, dominated by either Doppler broadening, Rydberg atom interactions, or decay due to thermal collisions between groundstate and Rydberg atoms, are described. We show that using fast Rabi flopping and strong Rydberg atom interactions, both in the order of gigahertz, can overcome the Doppler effect as well as collisional decay, leading to a sizable dispersive optical nonlinearity on nanosecond timescales. In this regime, self-induced transparency (SIT) emerges when areas of the nanosecond pulse are determined primarily by the Rydberg atom interaction, rather than the area theorem of interaction-free SIT. We identify, both numerically and analytically, the condition to realize Rydberg-SIT. Our study contributes to efforts in achieving quantum information processing using glass cell technologies.

We investigate the dynamics of a three-dimensional Bose-Einstein condensate of ultracold atomic gases with a soft-core shape long-range interaction, which is induced by laser dressing the atoms to a highly excited Rydberg state. For a homogeneous condensate, the long-range interaction drastically alters the dispersion relation of the excitation, supporting both roton and maxon modes. Rotons are typically responsible for the creation of supersolids, while maxons are normally dynamically unstable in BECs with dipolar interactions. We show that maxon modes in the Rydberg-dressed condensate, on the contrary, are dynamically stable. We find that the maxon modes can be excited through an interaction quench, i.e. turning on the soft-core interaction instantaneously. The emergence of the maxon modes is accompanied by oscillations at high frequencies in the quantum depletion, while rotons lead to much slower oscillations. The dynamically stable excitation of the roton and maxon modes leads to persistent oscillations in the quantum depletion. Through a self-consistent Bogoliubov approach, we identify the dependence of the maxon mode on the soft-core interaction. Our study shows that maxon and roton modes can be excited dynamically and simultaneously by quenching Rydberg-dressed long-range interactions. We study the Landau-Zener (LZ) dynamics in a setup of two Rydberg atoms with time-dependent detuning, both linear and periodic, using both the exact numerical calculations as well as the method of adiabatic impulse approximation (AIA). By varying the Rydberg-Rydberg interaction strengths, the system can emulate different three-level LZ models, for instance, bow-tie and triangular LZ models. The LZ dynamics exhibits non-trivial dependence on the initial state, the quench rate, and the interaction strengths. For large interaction strengths, the dynamics is well captured by AIA. In the end, we analyze the periodically driven case, and AIA reveals a rich phase structure involved in the dynamics. Collective excitations (spinwaves) of long-lived atomic hyperfine states can be synthesized into a Bose-Hubbard model in momentum space. We explore many-body ground states and dynamics of a two-leg momentum-space lattice formed by two coupled hyperfine states. Essential ingredients of this setting are a staggered artificial magnetic field engineered by lasers that couple the spinwave states, and a state-dependent long-range interaction, which is induced by laser-dressing a hyperfine state to a Rydberg state. The Rydberg dressed two-body interaction gives rise to a state-dependent blockade in momentum space, and can amplify staggered flux induced anti-chiral edge currents in the many-body ground state in the presence of magnetic flux. When the Rydberg dressing is applied to both hyperfine states, exotic sliding insulating and superfluid/supersolid phases emerge. Due to the Rydberg dressed long-range interaction, spinwaves slide along a leg of the momentum-space lattice without costing energy. Generating quantum entanglement in large systems on time scales much shorter than the coherence time is key to powerful quantum simulation and computation. Trapped ions are among the most accurately controlled and best isolated quantum systems with low-error entanglement gates operated via the vibrational motion of a few-ion crystal within tens of microseconds. To exceed the level of complexity tractable by classical computers the main challenge is to realise fast entanglement operations in large ion crystals. The strong dipole-dipole interactions in polar molecule and Rydberg atom systems allow much faster entangling gates, yet stable state-independent confinement comparable with trapped ions needs to be demonstrated in these systems. Here, we combine the benefits of these approaches: we report a $700\,\mathrm{ns}$ two-ion entangling gate which utilises the strong dipolar interaction between trapped Rydberg ions and produce a Bell state with $78\%$ fidelity. The sources of gate error are identified and a total error below $0.2\%$ is predicted for experimentally-achievable parameters. Furthermore, we predict that residual coupling to motional modes contributes $\sim 10^{-4}$ gate error in a large ion crystal of 100 ions. Coupling electronic and vibrational degrees of freedom of Rydberg atoms held in optical tweezer arrays offers a flexible mechanism for creating and controlling atom-atom interactions. We find that the state-dependent coupling between Rydberg atoms and local oscillator modes gives rise to two- and three-body interactions which are controllable through the strength of the local confinement. This approach even permits the cancellation of two-body terms such that three-body interactions become dominant. We analyze the structure of these interactions on two-dimensional bipartite lattice geometries and explore the impact of three-body interactions on system ground state on a square lattice. Focusing specifically on a system of $ ^{87} $Rb atoms, we show that the effects of the multi-body interactions can be maximized via a tailored dressed potential within a trapping frequency range of the order of a few hundred kHz and for temperatures corresponding to a $ >90\% $ occupation of the atomic vibrational ground state. These parameters, as well as the multi-body induced time scales, are compatible with state-of-the-art arrays of optical tweezers. We study the dynamics of bosonic atoms on a two-dimensional square lattice, where atomic interactions are long-ranged with either a box or soft-core shape. The latter can be realized through laser dressing ground-state atoms to electronically excited Rydberg states. When the range of interactions is equal or larger than the lattice constant, the system is governed by an extended Bose-Hubbard model. We propose a quench process by varying the atomic hopping linearly across phase boundaries of the Mott insulator-supersolid and supersolid-superfluid phases. Starting from a Mott insulating state, the dynamical evolution of the superfluid order parameter exhibits a universal behaviour at the early stage, largely independent of interactions. The dynamical evolution is significantly altered by strong, long-range interactions at later times. Particularly, we demonstrate that density wave excitation is important when the quench rate is small. Moreover, we show that the quench dynamics can be analyzed through time-of-flight images, i.e., measuring the momentum distribution and noise correlations., Comment: 10 pages, 10 figures

We introduce a simple model system to study synchronization theoretically in quantum oscillators that are not just in limit-cycle states, but rather display a more complex bistable dynamics. Our oscillator model is purely dissipative, with a two-photon gain balanced by single- and three-photon loss processes. When the gain rate is low, loss processes dominate and the oscillator has a very low photon occupation number. In contrast, for large gain rates, the oscillator is driven into a limit-cycle state where photon numbers can become large. The bistability emerges between these limiting cases with a region of coexistence of limit-cycle and low-occupation states. Although an individual oscillator has no preferred phase, when two of them are coupled together a relative phase preference is generated which can indicate synchronization of the dynamics. We find that the form and strength of the relative phase preference varies widely depending on the dynamical states of the oscillators. In the limit-cycle regime, the phase distribution is $\pi$-periodic with peaks at $0$ and $\pi$, whilst in the low-occupation regime $\pi$-periodic phase distributions can be produced with peaks at $\pi/2$ and $3\pi/2$. Tuning the coupled system between these two regimes reveals a region where the relative phase distribution has $\pi/2$-periodicity., Comment: 12 pages, 6 figures
