CTUALIZACIÓN DEL DESCRIPTOR 8 CONTAMINANTES Y SUS EFECTOS EVALUACIÓN INICIAL Y BUEN ESTADO AMBIENTAL EN LA DEMARCACIÓN DEL ESTRECHO Y ALBORÁN, Financiado por la Dirección General deSostenibilidad de la Costa y el Mar (MAGRAMA)

The MarMenor is a coastal lagoon affected by the growth of intensive agriculture and urban development in the surrounding area. Large amounts of chemical pollutants fromthese areas are discharged into El Albujón, a permanent water-course flowing into the lagoon. Biomarkers such as the activity of acetylcholinesterase or antioxidant enzymes have been previously tested in this lagoon demonstrating the presence of neurotoxicity and oxidative stress in clams transplanted in sites affected by the dispersion of the effluent from El Albujón. To complete this traditional toxicology work, a metabolomic profiling of these transplanted organisms has been carried out for the detection of metabolic biomarkers induced by agricultural/urban pollutants. More than 70 metabolites have been quantified using a targeting metabolomics platform based on HPLC–MS. The intracellular metabolic pattern was analyzed by PCA from the digestive gland of clams after 7 and 22 days of transplantation. Results showed a different profile of metabolite between organisms collected from control and exposed sites. At the shorter exposure time, there was an increase in several metabolites in the latter when compared with those from control sites, whereas metabolic profiling at 22 days showed that those metabolites were drastically diminished, with even lower levels than at control sites. These metabolites included: (i) 12 amino acids from the 21 proteogenic and HomoSer, (ii) osmotic protectants such as γ-butyrobetaine and taurine and (iii) nucleotides such as ITP. Regarding sulfur-containing molecules, taurine could be highlighted as a potential biomarker since its concentration was reduced by more than 30 times after 22 days of exposure, whereas the antioxidant glutathione remained constant in the organisms from both control and exposed sites. Although targetedmetabolomics has been shown as an early technique of pollutant effect detection, the two-phase pattern could highlight a more complicated metabolite response to pollutants than classical biomarkers., SI

Se integra información hidrográfica, geomorfológica, sedimentológica y biológica, para la caracterización de los ecosistemas marinos en el punto de vertido y área adyacente previa al inicio de las obras de dragado del Puerto de Maó., RESUMEN: En este documento se presentan los trabajos científicos realizados por el Instituto Español de Oceanografía, dentro del Plan de Vigilancia Ambiental del dragado del Puerto de Maó (Menorca, Islas Baleares), para la caracterización de los ecosistema marino en el punto de vertido y área adyacente, previa al inicio de las obras. Se incluyen los resultados y las conclusiones de los estudios realizados por diversos grupos de investigación, principalmente en Enero-Marzo 2014, en relación al fondo marino, la hidrodinámica, las praderas de Posidonia oceanica y el molusco bivalvo Pinna nobilis, el macro-bentos de los fondos circalitorales blandos y los contaminantes en agua, sedimentos y biota, así como en especies de interés comercial para el consumo humano. The results and conclusions of the studies developed by several research groups, mainly in January-March 2014, in relation to the bottom, hydrodynamics, Posidonia oceanica meadows, and the bivalve mollusc Pinna nobilis, the macro-benthos of the circalittoral soft bottoms and the contaminants in water, sediments and biota, as well as in commercial species for human consumption, are included. La Acidosis Tubular Renal es un conjunto de enfermedades caracterizadas por imposibilidad de control del pH con origen en la nefrona. De los tres tipos, el tipo I o distal es el que afecta al urólogo con más frecuencia debido a que la formación de litiasis y de nefrocalcinosis es constante en caso de no tratamiento de la enfermedad. Se ha realizado un exhaustivo trabajo de investigación bibliográfica con el fin de resumir y concentrar la mayor parte de la información disponible, tanto básica como especializada. La acidosis tubular renal distal es una enfermedad poco prevalente, con origen primario o secundario a tratamientos o enfermedades sistémicas. Cuando el origen es primario, puede ser esporádico o hereditario, asociado o no a hipoacusia. El avance en conocimiento del genoma nos ayuda a conocer los genes implicados de forma directa en la enfermedad, y su asociación con otras enfermedades como la ovalocitosis. El trastorno electrolítico se caracteriza por una acidemia con orinas alcalinas de forma permanente. El anión GAP tanto en sangre como en orina ayudan al diagnóstico. La hipokaliemia en frecuente en estudios sanguíneos y la hipercalciuria y la hipocitraturia suelen ser frecuentes hallazgos en la orina. El diagnóstico de la forma completa se realiza en la infancia, porque el trastorno electrolítico provoca una falta del desarrollo y el crecimiento. El diagnóstico de la forma incompleta se realiza en la edad adulta por litiasis de repetición o nefrocalcinosis. El diagnóstico es complejo, ya que existen varios test diagnósticos, cada uno con sus ventajas e inconvenientes. El tratamiento, fundamentalmente con álcalis, debe monitorizarse de forma estrecha en niños. No debemos olvidar las medidas higiénico dietéticas. La ATRd es una enfermedad multifactorial, que precisará una atención multidisciplinar, pero donde la actitud del urólogo es fundamental tanto en el tratamiento de sus complicaciones como en el diagnóstico y seguimiento., Renal Tubular Acidosis (RTA) is a group of diseases characterized by inability to control the pH, originated in the nephron. There are the three types, type I or distal is managed by the urologist more often because stone formation and nephrocalcinosis is constant in absence of treatment. Distal renal tubular acidosis (dRTA) is a rare disease, with primary or secondary origin. dTRA can be due to treatments or systemic diseases. When it has a primary origin, can be sporadic or inherited, with or without hearing loss. Progress in understanding the genome will help us to understand the genes directly involved in the disease and its association with other diseases such as ovalocytosis. The electrolyte disorder is characterized by acidemia and permanently alkaline urine. The anion gap in blood and urine help the diagnosis. Hypokalemia is commonly in blood and hypercalciuria and hypocitraturia are typical findings in the urine. The diagnosis of complete form is done in childhood, because the electrolyte disorder causes a lack of development and growth. The diagnosis of incomplete is made in adulthood by recurrent lithiasis or nephrocalcinosis. The diagnosis is complex, always rested on the clinical and laboratory values. There are several diagnostic tests, each with advantages and disadvantages. Of these, the easiest and most complete is to measure the pCO2 gradient between urine and blood, after overloading 10 g of bicarbonate and 500 mg of acetazolamide. Treatment, mainly with alkali, should be closely monitored in children. In adults we have to take special care with high blood pressure, hyperkalemia and hypercalicuria when the correct choice of treatment. We must not forget dietary measures.
