Objective: To understand the performance of EndNote 20 and Zotero 6's full text retrieval features. Methods: Using the University of York's subscriptions, we tested and compared EndNote and Zotero's full text retrieval. 1,000 records from four evidence synthesis projects were tested for the number of: full texts retrieved; available full texts retrieved; unique full texts (found by one program only); and differences in versions of full texts for the same record. We also tested the time taken and accuracy of retrieved full texts. One dataset was tested multiple times to confirm if the number of full texts retrieved was consistent. We also investigated the available full texts missed by EndNote or Zotero by: reference type; whether full texts were available open access or via subscription; and the content provider. Results: EndNote retrieved 47% of available full texts versus 52% by Zotero. Zotero was faster by 2 minutes 15 seconds. Each program found unique full texts. There were differences in full text versions retrieved between programs. For both programs, 99% of the retrieved full texts were accurate. Zotero was less consistent in the number of full texts it retrieved. Conclusion: EndNote and Zotero do not find all available full texts. Users should not assume full texts are correct; are the version of record; or that records without full texts cannot be retrieved manually. Repeating the full text retrieval process multiple times could yield additional full texts. Users with access to EndNote and Zotero could use both for full text retrieval. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Librarians at a Midwestern, midsized state university studied the application of their flexible programmatic information literacy rubric to one-shot first-year writing library instruction. Ten librarians taught 23 sessions of first-year writing on information access skills and assessed each class using the flexible programmatic information literacy rubric. The results emphasize how a flexible rubric can both assess student learning and provide librarian instructors with autonomy to use methods and lessons that feel authentic to them. In this study, researchers investigated the library experiences of Black undergraduate students at Penn State in University Park, a predominately white institution. Their goal was to improve services and spaces and to highlight and validate experiences with race, racism, and microaggressions on campus and in the library. Twenty undergraduate students were interviewed and asked to talk about their experiences and how these affected their perception of the University Libraries. Using the lens of critical race theory, which sees race as a socially constructed category used to oppress people of color, this study seeks to present a counternarrative to the prevailing dominant view of the library as a neutral space. Several consistent themes were identified. The themes included, but were not limited to, a low awareness of library services, lack of Black representation in the University Libraries, and a general lack of comfort within the library space. The article focuses on the challenges hospital librarians face in advocating for their roles and securing resources due to their non-revenue-generating status. It highlights the disparity between the needs and the resources available, revealing librarians' desires for increased staffing, better funding, improved physical spaces, and more support from hospital administrators.

Library staff at a large cancer center decided to restart in-person programming after three years of having programming shut down by the hospital's COVID-19 restrictions. This effort began by conducting a survey of the library's users on what types of programming was desired, along with best format of program, most preferred day of the week and time of day. Once the survey was completed, the results guided staff to begin a weekly program consisting of educational handouts and giveaways. A second, follow-up survey sought to obtain any further ideas or comments by users. Programming began with passive display tables stocked with information and giveaways. The services offered by healthcare knowledge and library specialists offer tangible benefits for healthcare professionals, some of which can be measured through user feedback. The searches undertaken by this highly specialist workforce can save the time of health professionals and provide economic benefits to the UK NHS. The results of this seven-year study of knowledge and library service interventions in the Leeds health economy demonstrate the resulting primary impact for library and knowledge service users and estimates the local economic benefits of the evidence searches provided over the same period. This exploratory study examines the instructional practices of two-year institutions located in rural areas during the onset of the Coronavirus pandemic in 2020 and the two academic years that follow. Since the virus commonly known as COVID-19 first made its way to the United States in March 2020, three classes of community college students have had an introduction to higher education unlike any other in living memory. The mixed method approach consists of a survey aimed toward rural college librarians and subsequent in-depth interviews. This study identifies attempts to retain connections with faculty and students, as well as adjustments in instructional practices created both during the pandemic and in response to the return of in-person instruction. Due to the rapid development of internet technology, knowledge acquisition has become more convenient and efficient in network operations. University libraries serve as important resources for readers to acquire knowledge, and online resources and services in libraries have become the main direction for readers to acquire knowledge at present. Research the use of binary K-means clustering algorithm and library reader portrait technology to optimize the design of the reader portrait module and construct a multidimensional and multi perspective reader feature system. Reuse Spark programming language and support vector machine to perform computational processing on reader profile data to ensure accurate segmentation of the dataset. Finally, three datasets were used to test the accuracy and efficiency of the algorithm. The experimental comparison shows that the mining and precision segmentation of parallel SVM on the dataset are 93.20%, 85.16%, and 79.35% on the sample set, respectively, in order to optimize the mining performance of the data. The MD multi view binary K-means algorithm has a total Mahalanobis distance of 3.543, 5.268, and 22.385 on the sample dataset, respectively, to demonstrate its superiority in clustering performance. Therefore, the multi view binary K-means algorithm based on Mahalanobis distance has high advantages in reader portrait technology design, and provides technical support and theoretical reference for library reader portrait technology. The purpose of this study was to investigate the gap between library users' expected and perceived library services and to examine the role of library services in developing user satisfaction and loyalty. A quantitative research design using a questionnaire was used to investigate the research objectives. Undergraduate students were selected as the population from the Information Technology University. The questionnaire was adopted from previous literature. It was pilot tested with 50 undergraduate students and found reliable. Data was collected from 304 respondents and were analyzed using SPSS (v.20) software. The study found that library users expected a high level of service in three categories, i.e., Affect of Service, Information Control, and Library as a Place, as all mean scores were higher than 7 when rated against a scale from 1 to 9. The participants reported that they were likely to consult the library and recommend it to others. The structural equation model confirmed that better services will increase users' satisfaction with the library resources and services and will lead to winning users' loyalty. The findings from the study provided useful insight into the determinants of user satisfaction and loyalty and could be useful for other academic libraries seeking ways to increase user loyalty and user satisfaction with library resources and services. In libraries, perceptions of high services quality to their target clients are typically able to draw out high level of satisfaction and engagement. Using the descriptive-regression research design, the study was conducted to determine the influence of service quality of public libraries on library user's engagement. It was performed using a survey questionnaire that was tested using Cronbach Alpha and Content Validity. Data were collected from 175 randomly selected respondents who are frequent professional library users in public libraries in Region XII, consisting of graduate students, businessmen and women, retired personnel, and those users who have pursued their law, master's, or doctor's degrees. The data were analyzed using simple linear regression analysis. Results from the quantitative analysis revealed that service quality of public libraries can significantly influence library user's engagement. Thus, it can be claimed that one effective way of enticing more individuals to use public libraries is to improve the level of service quality of public libraries. Based on the findings, it is strongly recommended that public library administrators provide public librarians with comprehensive and continuous professional development opportunities, including seminars, trainings, enrolling in library professional courses, and benchmarking effective strategies that build the confidence and competence of public librarians to improve the quality of services offered to library patrons. This case study examines the decision-making process of library leaders and administrators in the selection, procurement, and implementation of Ex Libris Alma/Primo as their library services platform (LSP). The authors conducted a survey of libraries and library consortia in Canada and the United States who have implemented or plan to implement Alma. The results show that most libraries use both request for information (RFI) and request for proposal (RFP) in their system selection process, but the vendor-offered training is insufficient for effective operation. One-third of the libraries surveyed are considering switching to open-source options for their next automation system. AbstractProblem, research strategy, and findingsTakeaways for practiceWe explored the contributions of local public libraries to community resilience in the face of economic hardships, extreme weather events, and the COVID-19 pandemic using a survey of 415 library directors distributed through state library listservs in 13 Midwestern states, community-level census and presidential elections data, and library-specific data from the Institute of Museum and Library Services annual Public Libraries Survey. We found that public libraries provide invaluable resilience-boosting community services. They help patrons find jobs and access social services, often with one-on-one support. They act as daytime shelters during extreme heat and cold events, which is particularly important for unhoused and underhoused individuals. During the COVID-19 pandemic, they innovated to provide delocalized services and information access, such as installing WiFi hotspots. The provision of these essential resilience-boosting services is largely independent from library resources and community contexts and appear grounded in librarians’ ethos. Our research was limited to Midwestern public libraries and thus results are not generalizable to other regions, private, academic, and specialized libraries. We did not explore the possible relationships between local political majorities that could affect local government funding and priorities and local libraries’ funding sources, levels, and services.Beyond collections and information access, public libraries provide many services relevant to community and economic development and to disaster response. In addition, local public libraries act as resilience hubs in the face of economic stressors and extreme weather events, as well as during the COVID-19 pandemic, and are ready, flexible, adaptable, and willing to support patrons in times of need. This study explores the public library service evaluation domain through user-generated content on Google Maps, highlighting digital feedback's significant yet underexplored potential in understanding public library patronage across Taiwan's six major cities. Utilizing a mixed-methods research design, this study integrates Google Maps review content analysis with social network analysis to delineate public perceptions and identify areas for service enhancement in public libraries. It innovatively leverages personal experiences extracted from over 60,000 Google Maps reviews to evaluate public library services in cities such as Taipei, New Taipei, Taoyuan, Taichung, Tainan, and Kaohsiung. The research taps into the National Library of Taiwan's National Library Statistics System to provide a robust analysis of library performance and user satisfaction, offering a novel perspective by emphasizing user-centric feedback from Google Maps as a primary data source. This approach provides quantitative data on library usage and geographic distribution and enriches our understanding of the qualitative experiences of library users. In analyzing the keywords from Google Maps reviews of public libraries, we categorize and interpret these under the three core LibQUAL+ dimensions—Affect of Service, Information Control, and Library as Place. The findings expose variances in perceived service quality among the cities, with Kaohsiung and Taichung receiving the highest accolades for service satisfaction. Simultaneously, the study identifies potential areas for improvement, particularly in cities with lower satisfaction ratings like Taipei. This personalized feedback illustrates the intimate relationship between public libraries and their communities, offering invaluable insights for policymakers and library management to enhance service delivery and user experience. Gamification has emerged as an engaging approach to motivate participation and enhance experiences in diverse contexts. This study aimed to identify potential applications of gamification for attracting audiences to public libraries. Data was collected through semi-structured interviews with gamification experts, using purposive and snowball sampling, with thematic analysis revealing 16 main themes and 56 sub-themes. Our results show the potential of gamification to increase reading rates, help organize interesting events/challenges, and improve interactivity, the book lending process, library appeals, program awareness, user experience, educational activities, brand loyalty, participatory/volunteer activities, patron guidance, book searching, resource returns, marketing, and scientific/economic outputs in public libraries. This study highlights the fundamental and influential role of gamification in advancing public libraries and improving services in libraries. A dedicated gamification platform and system could enable libraries to engage librarian visitors, with further research needed to continue building knowledge in this emerging area. This article presents an analysis of seven articles published within the International Perspectives and Initiatives regular feature series on the impact of technology on the provision of health information. The articles provide a road map of how technology is facilitating new and enhanced services for library users in seven countries: Australia, Bangladesh, China, England, Germany, Sweden and the United States. Although there are differences in how countries are implementing technological solutions, only one describes problems in leveraging technology to improve library services. With the rapid advancements of mobile technologies and its applications in libraries are increasingly providing mobile-accessible information services to the library users on their devices. These services fall into two categories--traditional library services modified for mobile devices and services created specifically for mobile devices to 24x7 information access by the users globally. The study aims to evaluate the adoption and implementation of mobile applications in first-generation Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) libraries in India and assess the benefits and key challenges associated with delivering library services on m-tech platforms. A descriptive survey method was used to data collection via a structured online questionnaire using Google Forms, circulated among five librarians of studied libraries, and the response rate was 100%. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and presented in tabular formats. The results indicate a high level of adoption of mobile applications to enhance library services in studied libraries. The first-generation IIT libraries have established high-tech mobile technology infrastructures to deliver library services, including servers, Wi-Fi, and mobile devices. The study reveals that first-generation IIT libraries in India have significantly adopted mobile applications to enhance library services. While there are substantial benefits, key challenges were noticed to further improving library services in the mobile world. The study strongly recommended for every library to develop a dedicated mobile library apps tailored to user needs, investing in m-tech infrastructures, and information and communication technology (ICT) training for staff to overcome adoption barriers in libraries. Purpose. The aim of the paper is to emphasize the importance of the participation of library technicians in continuous informal education of librarians in the fi eld of communication skills. Approach. The fi rst part of the paper examines the theoretical foundations of librarian education in the fi eld of communication skills and their impact on organizational culture. Special attention is given to the particularities of communication in the reference and information service in public libraries but also within a network of public libraries. Authors suggest that there is a need for education in the fi eld of emotion management. The second part of the paper presents how the trainings were organized, specifi cally targeting library technicians from the Zagreb City Libraries. These involved two cycles of communication skills workshops focused on confl ict and crisis situations and stress management, and a one-time training on assertive communication and the eZaKi application. Final part of the paper provides recommendations for organizing continuous informal education for librarians in communication skills, based on theoretical foundations and practical experiences. Results. The results of the evaluation showed a high level of participant satisfaction with the organization and implementation of trainings, the value of experience exchange and learning during the workshops, the strengthening of community and awareness of organizational culture, as well as the need for continuity in the implementation of similar workshops. Practical implications. The description of the organization, implementation and evaluation of communication skills workshops can serve as an example of good practice in the informal education of library staff and as an incentive for other libraries to organize similar workshops....Originality. A high volume of information can be provided to users regarding library services by branding Iranian medical libraries and information centers, and the position of libraries can be significantly improved. There is a minimal number of studies in this field in Iran. This study mainly aims to identify key branding components and create differentiation in the context of Iranian medical libraries and information centers (IMLICs). This study was conducted in two steps: (i) the literature on branding in libraries and information centers in reliable databases such as Scopus, Science Direct, Emerald, and Google Scholar was first reviewed, and finally, 33 studies were identified. Four components, such as librarians, services, building, and equipment, as well as technology, were found as important factors in the branding of public and academic libraries. (ii) A semi-structured interview was conducted with 14 managers and heads of libraries of Iranian medical sciences universities. The results showed the most important branding components in ILMIC as librarians, services, buildings and equipment, and technology. According to the results librarians' performance and personality characteristics, dynamization of specialized and general services, paying attention to the architecture of the library building and the installation and use of the equipment, and finally, the intelligent use of technologies and a strategic look at these components will lead to the formation of a positive mental image of Iranian medical libraries in the public mind, increase awareness of their services, and as a result, users' trust, loyalty, and satisfaction. Librarians play an important role in raising the users' awareness, trust, and loyalty toward library services and their branding. Hiring librarians with positive internal and external characteristics can have a positive image of libraries in the users' minds. Providing high-quality services required by users is essential in differentiating and branding libraries and building users' trust and loyalty. Providing virtual services in libraries is essential in promoting branding goals. A unique look at the libraries' architecture helps to create a positive image of libraries and information centers. Well-designing the interior and exterior of library facilities will create a positive mental image among users. Applying the technological equipment alongside the expert staff creates a brand and raises the users' awareness, trust, and loyalty. Empowering librarians in using emerging technologies is an obligation in this era. IMLICs have branding capabilities in the four main components of the library regarding librarians, services, building and equipment, and technology. Development of human resources, services, building and equipment, and technology should be planned so that its output is users' awareness about the library brand and the creation of a positive mental image towards the library function. It keeps the users' trust and loyalty towards the library and finally makes users the ambassadors and missionaries to promote the library via word-of-mouth marketing following their satisfaction. Purpose: The purpose of this study is to examine approaches used by university libraries to enhance the visibility and utilization of research support services (RSSs) among doctoral students and to assess the competencies of library staff in delivering research support services. Design/methodology/approach: This study used qualitative design approach, purposively sampled 40 librarians (8 university librarians and 32 librarians) in charge of RSSs and use of structured interview. Findings: The findings of this study revealed three major themes: offline and online strategies, the need for upskilling and professional development programs and proactive empowerment. Research limitations/implications: This study focused on research support services in chartered public universities in Kenya; private universities were not included. Practical implications: The need to enhance library staff's ongoing professional development programs, increasing funding to university libraries and proactivity by the libraries to improve the provision and promotion of RSSs to doctoral students in Kenya. Originality/value: There are limited existing literature in the Kenyan context. Background: Academic libraries play a significant role in the student learning process. However, student needs and preferences as well as new paradigms of learning are driving libraries to transition from quiet book repositories to places of collaboration and open information. This descriptive, mixed methods case presentation explores the transition of one library, the United States Air Force School of Aerospace Medicine Franzello Aeromedical Library, in three key areas: collection, capability, and facility. Due to the niche subject matter and audience the library serves, this case also describes how the Franzello Aeromedical Library's distinct collection and capability remained intact throughout modernization. Case Presentation: The Franzello Aeromedical Library's modernization project aimed to augment the library as a cuttingedge resource supporting USAFSAM's education, consultation, and research mission to equip Aerospace Medicine Airmen with the skills and knowledge for healthcare delivery in austere environments. This project was approached using five phases: 1) best practices baseline, 2) baseline evaluation of library visitor needs, 3) collection weeding, 4) capability, and 5) space design and construction. Conclusion: As a result of this complex two-year project, several recommendations were gleaned. Use the effort as an opportunity to market library services to new audiences. Ensure all stakeholders are at the table from day one and in perpetuity to save time, and consider using purposeful decision-making models, such as Courses of Action, to make tough calls. Be prepared for delays by padding your timeline and compromise where necessary to keep the project alive. Objective: This article describes the evolution of academic public health library services from standalone academic public health libraries in 2004 to centralized services by 2021. Methods: Five public health libraries serving public health graduate programs (SPH) at public and private institutions were visited in 2006-07. Visits comprised tours, semi-structured interviews with librarians and local health department staff, and collecting of contemporary print documents. We compiled and compared visit notes across libraries. In 2022, we reviewed online materials announcing library closure or transition for timing and how services were to be subsequently provided. Results: Libraries and SPH were co-located and most librarians maintained public health expertise though they did not have faculty appointments in their SPHs. Specialized statistical and geographic information systems (GIS) software and data were provided in partnership, often with other system libraries. Libraries at academic institutions have been involved in research data management services (RDMS) for more than ten years. Institutions have adapted their service models in response to funder, journal, and federal mandates that have consequently increased RDMS demand. However, institutions that hope to start or grow their services may have difficulty extrapolating from the published literature, as few studies recount RDMS development strategies. Library programs and services serve communities, and they aim to increase information literacy, knowledge, increase access and decrease barriers. These benefits can be enhanced through partnerships between libraries and outside organizations. To explore what types of partnerships exist among libraries and discover more about resulting community benefits, a literature search was conducted looking for examples of shared experiences of different libraries. The literature search was completed utilizing a health focused database, an educational focused database and a library focused database: PubMed, Educational Institution of Educational Sciences (ERIC) and Library & Information Science Abstracts (LISA). A combination of keywords and controlled vocabulary were utilized that best described the topic of library partnerships and collaboration which support health initiatives. The articles retrieved highlighted three thematic concepts of community benefits from library collaborations such as increased engagement and satisfaction with programs, increased learning for library staff and increased access to resources for community members. Partnerships between individual libraries as well as partnerships between libraries and outside organizations have the potential to provide positive, equitable and tangible benefits for both libraries and the communities they serve. More research and investigation in the area of library partnerships and community benefits is recommended to help continue the progress and success that has already been established. During the pandemic, in an effort to improve employee wellness, the Spencer S. Eccles Health Sciences Library (EHSL) launched a series of virtual wellness challenges. Participation counts toward a university-wide wellness initiative that provides a discount on the employee health care plan. Following several successful movement, mindfulness and nutrition challenges, the Wellness Committee developed a challenge centered on creative projects and community building for a change of pace. Participants engaged in creative pursuits, periodically reflected on their progress and regularly attended Craft Club meetings to connect with colleagues and friends while working on their projects. Topics include the impact of accreditation standards on healthcare performance and patient safety; the importance of understanding and adhering to MCI standards for medical librarians; and the assessment of medical libraries in North-East India based on MCI requirements.

The article focuses on critical librarianship in the health library context. It critiquing societal norms; supporting critical thinking in academic and hospital libraries; advocating for inclusive and accurate indexing of Indigenous populations in research databases; highlights a case study involving the Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) thesaurus; and demonstrating how critical examination by information professionals led to impactful changes in information access and representation.

This study employs Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) using Smart PLS 3.2.9 to offer valuable insight into the relationship between e-marketing mix (4Ps) and customer satisfaction with electronic information services provided by public university libraries in Jordan. The identified primary aspects within the e-marketing mix encompass e-product, e-pricing, e-place, and e-promotion. An online survey (questionnaire) targeting postgraduate student respondents at Jordanian public universities (a total of 792 participants) was used to gather data using a quantitative technique. Participants were chosen using voluntary response sampling. The study's findings revealed that all relevant elements of the e-marketing mix establish significant relationships with customer satisfaction among postgraduate student respondents utilizing e-information services in public university libraries in Jordan. Notably, e-products, e-pricing, and e-promotion demonstrated substantial positive relationships with customer satisfaction. Conversely, there was a negative relationship observed with e-place. The novelty of this study lies in its exploration of the previously unexplored realm of the e-marketing mix framework (4Ps) in the context of customer satisfaction with electronic information services within university libraries in Jordan. Oncology nurses need an understanding of genomic science to provide optimal care, yet they may have limited background in how this science guides treatment. The Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) responded to this identified need by developing the ONS Genomics and Precision Oncology Learning Library. Oncology nurses, nursing faculty, staff educators, and administrators can use these resources to support genomics-informed care. During the COVID-19 pandemic, academic libraries saw a shift toward remote learning leading to increased dependency on electronic resources. This article explores the implications of the pandemic on electronic resource management, focusing on modifications in budget allocation, licensing, accessibility, and staffing. Drawing from a data set of 120 survey responses in 2023 in the United States, this article illustrates the challenges academic libraries faced and changes made during the pandemic. This research is motivated by an interesting phenomenon of changing times marked by the mushrooming use of information technology that makes the Library able to provide all services quickly, precisely, accurately, anytime, and anywhere. And, in real-time these services can be utilized by users, namely the use of e-library applications applied at the UIN Raden Fatah Library is very interesting to be researched. This research is quantitative, and data were collected by using applications from the Library Science students of class 2020. To see the use of the application, researchers use the theory of total quality management (TQM) which is reviewed through 4 principles, namely the principles of user satisfaction, respect for users, management in line with facts, and continuous improvement. Of the four principles, the survey results are above the average of 50%, meaning that each indicator in each principle has good service quality such as a comfortable application interface, user-friendly application use, good and satisfactory e-library service quality, adequate collection, and can meet user needs. Library efforts that continuously add to existing collections in the e-library application are updated to the latest version. There is a huge need to socialize the use of the application and promotional activities for the application to continue to be carried out. The research data shows that the survey results 75% on average, have gone well. Based on the results of this simple research, all principles in TQM have achieved excellent scores, this is shown by the average acquisition of survey numbers above 50%. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study aims to assess the familiarity, understanding, and perceptions of immersive technologies such as Virtual Environments (VEs), Augmented Reality (AR), and Virtual Reality (VR) among library professionals in India. It seeks to determine the importance of Metaverse literacy for librarians, explore their attitudes toward integrating Metaverse concepts into library services, identify potential benefits, and examine perceived barriers hindering the adoption of Metaverse technologies in libraries. A quantitative research approach was employed, involving a stratified random sampling method to gather data from library professionals across various universities and colleges in India. Familiarity with VEs, AR, and VR technologies was high, with mean scores above 4.0 for most items, indicating respondents' strong interest and understanding. The importance of Metaverse literacy was emphasized, with high mean scores (above 4.2) on its significance for enhancing library services and user engagement. Critical barriers identified included cost (mean = 4.13), lack of expertise (mean = 4.01), and privacy concerns (mean = 3.51). The results underscore the need for targeted training programs and resource allocation to support adopting immersive library technologies. This article provides a background on the migration of the California State University (CSU), Stanislaus library website from an open-source platform to a content management system specifically designed for library websites. Before the migration, there was a trial of different content management systems (CMS), a student usability study, and consultations with outside web and systems librarians to acquire better insight on their experiences migrating a library website and their familiarity with the different CMS trialed. 1 The evaluation process, website design, and usability study began before the pandemic and the global shift to remote services. However, despite this shift, the timeline for the migration was not altered and the migration was completed as planned. COVID-19 has changed the behavior of consumers of all services, including public library readers, related to the unavailability of services during lockdown periods and other restrictions precluding physical presence in the library. The aim of this case study was to learn what effects the COVID-19 pandemic had on e-book readers and their behavior. This article presents the results of the analysis of data from empirical surveys undertaken in August 2019 and August 2020 in the Municipal Library in Prague (Czech Republic). Findings revealed that readers do not prefer e-books due to the pandemic situation. Paper book preferences still prevail. The results show that the pandemic slightly adjusted the preference of book genres. The pandemic did not change readers' willingness to pay for library services but rather forced public libraries to adjust their service offerings and distribution channels. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Library and information science has been at an infant stage in Pakistan, primarily in resource management, description, discovery, and access. The reasons are many, including the lack of interest and use of modern tools, techniques, and best practices by librarians in Pakistan. Finding a solution to these challenges requires a comprehensive study that identifies the current state of libraries in Pakistan. This paper fills this gap in the literature by reviewing the relevant literature published between 2015 and 2021 and selected through a rigorous search and selection methodology. It also analyzes the websites of 82 libraries in Pakistan through a theoretical framework based on various aspects. The findings of this study include: Libraries in Pakistan need a transition from traditional and limited solutions to more advanced information and communication technology (ICT)-enabled, user-friendly, and state-of-the-art systems to produce dynamic, consumable, and sharable knowledge space. They must adopt social semantic cataloging to bring all the stakeholders on a single platform. A libraries consortium should be developed to link users to local, multilingual, and multicultural collections for improved knowledge production, recording, sharing, acquisition, and dissemination. These findings benefit Pakistani libraries, librarians, information science professionals, and researchers in other developing countries. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first study of its kind providing insights into the current state of libraries in Pakistan through the study of their websites using a rigorous theoretical framework and in the light of the latest relevant literature. Individuals experiencing psychosocial crises have sought support and refuge in libraries for decades, and at increasing rates. Library staff interacts with individuals in crisis using professional knowledge and attitudes, of which crisis intervention and related work is rarely a part. We hypothesized that librarian-social work collaboration could deliver crucial knowledge and skill development for library staff, positively affecting attitudes and improving public libraries' service provision. We facilitated a series of workshops co-designed by social workers and librarians which address topics identified in prior research. Pre- and post-workshop assessments provided data about participants' knowledge and attitude changes. Findings indicate the workshops increased knowledge and altered attitudes around each topic. These results are discussed in the context of current literature on social work-library interprofessional collaborations, with a focus on trauma-informed librarianship, and implications for the next steps will be explored. This study examined the possibility of applying the Metaverse concept to the library, and to this end, we investigated representative Metaverse implementation cases and library implementation cases, analyzed them comprehensively, and discussed the service direction to be pursued when Metaverse libraries are implemented. The results of the study found that: first, there were not many cases of research or construction on Metaverse libraries; and second, users have high expectations for Metaverse libraries. Users expect that when Metaverse libraries are established, there will be more services and programs available, and that cooperation and communication with the library will be smooth. The use of information and communication technologies (ICTs) has considerably increased among students, including students with vision impairment (SVI). There has been limited work on the information and digital needs of people with disabilities, particularly SVI who were studying for their masters or MPhil and were involved in research activities in Pakistan. This study is an effort to explore various obstacles, expected services and support for SVIs from their universities, libraries, and Higher Education Commission (HEC) Pakistan. This study is qualitative in nature, and an interview guide was used to collect data from the participants in Lahore, Pakistan. The results of this study showed that students with vision impairment use a variety of digital information resources. However, very few use the higher education commission of Pakistan subscribed databases due to restricted access and complex interfaces. The hindrances include lack of university support, limited training opportunities, non-availability of digital library services, and others. The participants highlighted a variety of needed library services and support from their departmental as well as central libraries.
