In the last few decades, fullerene‐based acceptors have been extensively utilized in organic solar cells (OSCs). However, OSCs based on fullerenes suffer from low photocurrent and photovoltage due to their poor light absorption capacity and limited tunability of energy levels, which impedes efficiency improvements. Recently, non‐fullerene acceptors (NFAs) have enabled rapid progress in OSCs, owing to their favorable properties such as strong light absorption, facile energy level tuning, and improved charge transport characteristics. These features have led to rapid efficiency enhancements. This review discusses the latest research trends related to NFAs, covering several factors that can be applied in the development of NFAs. Finally, we suggest prospects and challenges for high‐performance NFA‐based OSCs on the path to commercialization. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Injecting fluid into a porous material can cause deformation of the pore structure. This hydro-mechanically coupled (i.e., poromechanical) phenomenon plays an essential role in many geological and biological operations across a wide range of scales, from geologic carbon storage, enhanced oil recovery and hydraulic fracturing to the transport of fluids through living cells and tissues, and to fuel cells. In this study, we conducted an experimental and numerical investigation of the hydro-mechanical coupling during fluid flows in porous media at the fundamental pore-scale. First, experimental demonstrations were undertaken to ascertain the effect of the hydro-mechanical coupling for two-phase fluid flows in either deformable or non-deformable porous media. Next, a hydro-mechanically coupled pore network model (HM-PNM) was employed to test a various range of influential parameters. The HM-PNM results were consistent with the experimental observations, including the advancing patterns of fluids and the development of the poroelastic deformation, when the viscous drop was incorporated. The hydro-mechanical coupling was observed to reduce the inlet pressure required to maintain a constant flow rate, whereas its effect on the pattern of fluid flow was minimal. The interfacial tension alteration also changed the pressure and deformation. The viscosity of invading fluid showed significant effects on both the patterns of fluid displacement and mechanical deformation.

The power conversion efficiency (PCE) of polymer solar cells (PSCs) has recently reached >19% through the development of photoactive materials, particularly non-fullerene acceptors. Interfacial layers (ILs) have been another essential factor in optimizing device charge extraction. In this study, we propose a series of ILs, in which ionic iridium(III) (Ir(III)) complexes of different alkali metal cations (Li+, Na+, and K+) enhance the charge collection efficiency between zinc oxide and active layers through an induced internal electric field. The anionic coordinate sphere and counter-cations of the Ir(III) complexes are distributed according to the operating voltage of the PSCs, causing electric dipoles that enhance the internal electric field and charge collection efficiency. Ion species migration in the ILs is confirmed using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. The PCE of the PM6:Y6-based PSCs was improved from 14.0% to 15.6% by introducing an IL (Ir–K+). Furthermore, the stability of PSCs containing ionic Ir(III) complexes is enhanced significantly under ultraviolet (UV) light and AM 1.5 G one-sun irradiation owing to the intense UV absorption capacity and photo durability of the ILs. A device containing the Ir(III) complex-based ILs retained ∼60% of its initial PCE after UV irradiation, whereas the control device retained only ∼20%. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
