The major problem connected with this cancer is late diagnosis which is reflected in high mortality rates. Therefore, education is recommended in all countries with a view to increasing health awareness of women. Objective of the study The objective of the study was a retrospective analysis of health behaviour concerning breast cancer prevention in a group of patients with the malignant breast disease. The analysis was carried out with respect to education, place of residence and financial status of the surveyed women. Material and method The research was carried out by means of a diagnostic survey. The instrument used was an original questionnaire designed for the purposes of the study. A total of 200 female breast cancer patients were surveyed between September 2015 and April 2016. The data collected in the study were subjected to statistical analysis. Result and conclusions The research demonstrated that, irrespective of an education level, place of residence and financial status, lack of interest in preventive actions aimed at early diagnosis of breast cancer could be observed. Therefore, health awareness of women in this respect should be increased. Key words: breast cancer, health behaviour, prevention

Due to no specific method of prevention, prophylactic measures focus on spreading the knowledge about the routes of infection with the virus and risk factors for contracting the disease as well as the situations which increase the probability of virus transmission. Objective To evaluate of the knowledge of the patients about hepatitis C. Material and Methods The study was conducted in 2014 with the use of an original questionnaire among 200 patients of the Department of Infectious Diseases at the Medical University of Lublin and the members of support groups for HCV patients in Lublin and Warsaw. The questionnaire included some questions about the risk factors for HCV infection, the course and symptoms of hepatitis C and the sources of information about the disease. Results Most of the respondents associate the risk of HCV infection with the provision of health services whereas they know much less about other routes of transmission. More than 25% of the subjects describe their level of knowledge about the disease as insufficient. Conclusions The level of knowledge of the study group is good but it needs to be upgraded as it was pointed out by the respondents themselves. The main sources of knowledge about hepatitis C are doctors and the Internet. Few respondents obtained their knowledge from other media, which may mean that the problem of HCV infection received little publicity, which in turn translates into poor awareness of the general population. Podjęcie studiów rozpoczyna nowy etap w życiu młodego człowieka. Kształtowane w rodzinie zachowania i postawy względem zdrowia, w środowisku akademickim mogą ulegać zmianom lub też utrwalać się. Celem pracy jest określenie wybranych determinant warunkujących prawidłowe żywienie młodzieży akademickiej. Materiał i metoda. W roku akademickim 2013/2014 przeprowadzono sondaż diagnostyczny za pomocą techniki ankietowania. Narzędzie stanowił autorski kwestionariusz ankiety. Badanie przeprowadzono wśród 100 osobowej grupy studentów Uniwersytetu Medycznego w Lublinie. Wyniki. Za główną determinantę prawidłowego odżywiania się studenci uznali ilość wolnego czasu między zajęciami (41%). W dalszej kolejności wskazywano na takie czynniki jak: odległość miejsca zamieszkania od uczelni (18%), dostępność do uczelnianej stołówki (10%), bliskie sąsiedztwo uczelni z lokalami gastronomicznymi (9%) czy też status materialny studenta (9%). Mało znaczącymi czynnikami okazały się: umiejętność gospodarowania środkami pieniężnymi (5%) oraz zaopatrzenie sklepików w sąsiedztwie uczelni (4%). Niepokojący jest fakt, iż 48% studentów regularnie bądź sporadycznie rezygnuje z posiłku by w ten sposób zaoszczędzić pieniądze na inne cele. Wnioski. Należy stworzyć studentom właściwe warunki do spożywania posiłków o odpowiedniej jakości i w odpowiednich odstępach czasu. Właściwe rozplanowanie zajęć w ciągu dnia, zaopatrywanie się w produkty spożywcze przed rozpoczęciem zajęć oraz dostępność do placówek gastronomicznych może znacząco poprawić sposób żywienia młodzieży akademickiej. Słowa kluczowe: żywienie, młodzież akademicka, uwarunkowania. Abstract Introduction. Each of human life periods is a condition for its later health. Undertaking studies is a beginning of new life stage of a young man. Developed behaviors in the family and attitudes with regard to health, in the university environment may undergo changes or become established. An aim of this work is to determine selected determinants conditioning proper nutrition of university students. Material and method. Diagnostic survey was conducted in the academic year 2013/2014 using survey technique. An author's questionnaire form constituted the tool. Study was carried out on a sample of one hundred students of the Medical University in Lublin. Results. Students regarded the amount of free time between classes as the main determinant of proper nutrition (41%). Later they indicated such factors as: distance to the place of residence from the university (18%), availability to the university canteen (10%), immediate neighborhood of the university with dining (9%), or student’s material status (9%). Less significant factors turned out to be: ability of cash management (5%) and supply of shops in the university vicinity (4%). Concern is that 48% of students regularly or occasionally abandon the meal in order to save money for other purposes. Conclusions. It is necessary to create appropriate nutrition conditions for students with adequate quality and in appropriate time intervals. Proper layout of classes during the day, supply with food products before beginning the classes and availability to catering facilities may significantly improve dietary of university students. Streszczenie Wprowadzenie i cel pracy Rak piersi stanowi jeden z głównych problemów zdrowotnych u kobiet w Polsce. Tylko w 2011 roku rozpoznano 16534 nowe przypadki tej choroby oraz zarejestrowano 5437 zgonów. Celem pracy było porównanie poziomu wiedzy z zakresu epidemiologii raka piersi wśród studentów Wydziału Pielęgniarstwa i Nauk o Zdrowiu Uniwersytetu Medycznego w Lublinie oraz kobiet pracujących w makroregionie lubelskim. Materiał i metoda W pracy zastosowano metodę sondażu diagnostycznego, narzędziem badawczym była skonstruowana na potrzeby badań autorska anonimowa ankieta. Badaniem objęto 302 kobiety, 148 studentek Uniwersytetu Medycznego w Lublinie i 154 kobiety pracujące w zawodzie niezwiązanym z medycyną. Otrzymane wyniki poddano analizie statystycznej. Wyniki W badanej grupie 75% studentek i 66,9% kobiet pracujących wiedziało, że rak piersi jest najczęściej rozpoznawanym nowotworem złośliwym u kobiet. Wskazanie liczby zachorowań na raka piersi jaką odnotowuje się w ciągu roku okazało się znacznie większym problemem. Uzyskane wyniki badań pokazują również, że kobiety nie zdają sobie sprawy, że nowotwór ten tak często prowadzi do zgonu. W badanej grupie 76% kobiet pracujących nie potrafiła oszacować liczby zgonów spowodowanych rakiem piersi, przy czym lepsze wyniki uzyskała grupa studentek. Wnioski Wiedza o czynnikach ryzyka raka piersi zarówno studentek, jak i kobiet pracujących jest na niskim poziomie. Wiedza z zakresu epidemiologii raka piersi nie jest satysfakcjonująca w badanych grupach. Summary Background and aim Breast cancer is one of the major health problems among women in Poland. Only in 2011, 16,534 new cases were diagnosed with the disease and 5437 deaths were recorded. The aim of the study was a comparison the level of knowledge of the epidemiology of breast cancer among the students of the Faculty of Nursing and Health Sciences, Medical University of Lublin and the working women of the region of Lublin. Material and method The work applied a method of diagnostic survey, a research tool was constructed for research authored an anonymous survey. The study included 302 women, 148 students of the Medical University of Lublin and 154 women working in a profession unrelated to medicine. The results were analyzed statistically. Resulsts In the study group, 75% of students and 66.9% of working women know that breast cancer is the most frequently diagnosed cancer in women. Indication of the number of breast cancer that is recorded during the year proved to be a much bigger problem. The obtained results also show that women do not realize that cancer is so frequently leads to death. In the study group, 76% of working women could not estimate the number of deaths from breast cancer, a higher level of knowledge in this field represented by a group of students. Conclusions Knowledge about risk factors for breast cancer, both students and working women are at a low level. The knowledge of the epidemiology of breast cancer is unsatisfactory in the studies groups.

Alfabetyzm kojarzony jest przede wszystkim z nabywaną przez człowieka umiejętnością czytania i pisania, jednakże ma to też przełożenie w sferze zdrowia. Alfabetyzm zdrowotny to znacznie szersze pojęcie od alfabetyzmu. Obejmuje nie tylko umiejętności czytania i pisania, ale także podejmowania decyzji i nadawania wartości własnemu zdrowiu. Literacy is associated primarily with the human reading and writing skills, but it also has a shift in the sphere of health. Health literacy is a much broader concept than alphabetism. Introduction. The key element of the footballer’s training is the preparation of the physical performance. Long-term observations have shown tracks in the development of motor skills. In football, anaerobic abilities play a special role in athletic training. It can be assumed that only adequately measured motor skills are a guarantee of dynamic growth. Aim of the study. The aim of this study is to assess the motor skills in the course of biological development of players aged 9–15 taking part in the Polish Soccer Skills programe and their numerical characteristics. Material and methods. The study included 1131 players at the age of 9 (n = 189), 10 (n = 170), 11 (n = 183), 12 (n = 194), 13 (n = 124), 14 (n = 151), 15 (n = 120). The respondents participated in the Polish Soccer Skills programe and had varied professional experience. The starting speed over a distance of 5 meters, run over a distance of 20 meters, power of the lower limbs, agility run and growth were measured. The average descriptive statistics: (X), the minimum (min), maximum (max) and standard deviation (SD) were measured. The study was conducted in July and August 2014 in towns of Spała, Kleszczów and Wałcz. Results and Conclusions. The study concluded that the level of anaerobic abilities are changing with the development of biological development of players taking part in the program of Polish Soccer Skills. The differences in the anaerobic abilities were observed across all age groups.

Streszczenie Wstęp Wirusowe zapalenie wątroby typu C stanowi jeden z głównych problemów zdrowia publicznego ze względu na długi okres bezobjawowy zakażenia wirusem HCV (hepatitis C virus) oraz brak skutecznej szczepionki. Cel pracy Celem pracy była ocena poziomu aktywności fizycznej u osób z przewlekłym wirusowym zapaleniem wątroby typu C. Materiał i metody Materiałem wykorzystanym do badań były odpowiedzi na pytania zamknięte zawarte w autorskim kwestionariuszu ankiety. W badaniu wzięło udział 200 osób z potwierdzonym zakażeniem HCV. Wyniki Większość badanych podejmuje aktywność ruchową kilka razy w roku lub też sezonowo. Stwierdzono również, iż w badanej grupie im starszy wiek tym ankietowani rzadziej deklarują podejmowanie form aktywności fizycznej. Ponadto wykazano, iż aktywność fizyczna zmienia się wraz z poziomem wykształcenia. Im wyższy poziom wykształcenia, tym badani częściej podejmują aktywność fizyczną. Wnioski W grupie badanych pacjentów z wirusowym zapaleniem wątroby typu C występuje niska częstotliwość podejmowania aktywności fizycznej. Tylko młodzi ludzie oraz posiadający wyższe wykształcenie deklarują aktywność fizyczną prowadzoną kilka razy w roku. Abstract Introduction and aim: Hepatitis C is one of the major public health problems due to the long period of asymptomatic infection with HCV and the lack of an effective vaccine. The aim of this study was to evaluate the level of physical activity in patients with chronic hepatitis C. Materials and methods: Material used for the study were responses to closed questions contained in the author's survey interview. The study involved 200 people with confirmed HCV infection. Results: Most of the respondents take physical activity several times a year or seasonally. It was also found that in the group of the older age of the respondents declare less likely to take forms of physical activity. In addition, it has been shown that physical activity varies with level of education. The higher the level of education, the subjects often take physical activity. Conclusions: The study group of people with hepatitis C has a relatively low frequency of making physical activity. Only young people and with a higher education declare frequent physical activity than a few times a year.

Streszczenie Wprowadzenie i cel pracy Rosnąca liczba zachorowań na raka piersi oraz negatywne następstwa choroby stały się jednym z największych wyzwań w dziedzinie opieki zdrowotnej w skali całego świata. Celem pracy była analiza wpływu wybranych cech społeczno – demograficznych na zachowania zdrowotne w zakresie profilaktyki raka piersi wśród kobiet pracujących w makroregionie lubelskim. Materiał i metody. Narzędziem badawczym była ankieta własnego autorstwa, skonstruowana wyłącznie na potrzeby badania. Obejmowała ona 34 pytania z zakresu wiedzy i zachowań zdrowotnych kobiet. Badania przeprowadzono metodą sondażu diagnostycznego. Wyniki. Większość kobiet (70,8%) uważała, że najlepszą metodą wykrywania raka piersi jest badanie mammograficzne. Kobiety mieszkające w dużym mieście znacznie częściej uczęszczały na kontrolne wizyty lekarskie, których celem było zbadanie piersi, niż mieszkanki wsi. Kobiety z wyższym wykształceniem rzadziej deklarowały umiejętność samobadania piersi, a tylko 31,4% wykonywała badanie regularnie. Kobiety z wyższym wykształceniem (40%) rzadziej korzystają z badania USG i badania mammograficznego, a mieszkające w dużym mieście częściej niż pozostałe. Wnioski. Znaczna część badanych kobiet nie korzysta regularnie z kontrolnych wizyt lekarskich, których celem jest badanie piersi. Większość kobiet potrafi wykonać samobadanie piersi, jednak mieszkanki dużych miast przeprowadzają badanie z większą regularnością. Kobiety z badanej grupy wiedzą kiedy i jak często należy wykonywać badanie mammograficzne. Mieszkanki dużych miast częściej korzystają z badań profilaktycznych, a z wyższym wykształceniem rzadziej niż pozostałe. Summary Background and aim Growing number of breast cancer cases and negative succession of the disease have become one of the major challenge in the field of healthcare in the whole world. Aim of the work was to analyze influence of chosen socio-demographic features on knowledge and health behavior in the field of breast cancer among women work in lubelskie macro-region. Material and methods. A tool - a questionaire - was created particularly for that purpose. It contained 34 questions in the field of women's knowledge and health behavior and was conducted with diagnostic survey method. Results. Most women (70.8%) felt that the best method of detecting breast cancer is the mammogram. Women living in big cities, more frequently than those living in the countryside, attended control appiontments to examine breasts. Women with higher education less often declared their ability to breast self-examination, and only 31.4% regularly performs test. Women with higher education (40%) less use of ultrasound and mammography, and living in a big city often than others. Conclusion. A siginificant proportion of respondents do not attend regular control appointments to examine their breasts. Most women can perform breast self-examination, but living in big cities carry out a survey with more regularity. Respondents know when and how often breast check-up should be conducted. Residents of big cities often benefit from preventive examinations, and higher education less often than others.
