We demonstrate a wildly tunable, high-efficiency mid-infrared (mid-IR) output-coupled single resonant optical parametric oscillator (OC-SRO) pumped by a Yb-fiber laser. The compact mid-infrared source employs a 50-mm-long, multi-grating MgO-doped periodically poled lithium niobate (MgO-PPLN) crystal, providing as much as 1.73 W idler power at 3.012 μm, and 1.27 W signal power at 1645 nm, corresponding to an overall conversion efficiency of 41.7% and a slope efficiency of 77.9%. In particular, the mid-infrared output power of 1.03 W and 0.67 W are obtained at 3.7 μm and 3.9 μm, respectively, with an optical-to-optical conversion efficiency of 14.3% and 9.3%. Furthermore, the idler light is tunable from 3 μm to 3.9 μm by changing the periods from 31 to 28.5 μm, with the output power >1 W over 78% of the tuning range. Our experimental results are pump power limited and further mid-IR power and conversion efficiency could be obtained with a suitable high-power pump source. We reported a compact α-BaTeMo2O9 Raman laser driven by a pulsed laser diode (LD) pumped Nd:YAG/ Cr4+:YAG laser for the first time. A maximum pulse energy of 1.07 mJ at 1177.8 nm was obtained with the absorbed LD pump energy of 10.63 mJ, giving an optical-to-optical conversion efficiency of 10% and a slope efficiency of 13.8%. A diode-end-pumped Q-switched mode-locking Nd:GdVO4 laser operating at 1.34 μm with an acousto-optical (AO) Q-switch in a compact V-type cavity was realized in our experiment for the first time. When the AO Q-switch repetition rate was 10 kHz, the maximum average output power of 750 mW and the pulse energy of 75 μJ were obtained at the maximum incident pump power of 9W. The mode-locking modulation depth of about 100% was obtained at certain pump power over the threshold. The mode-locked pulse inside in the Q-switched pulse had a repetition rate of 341 MHz, and its average pulsewidth was estimated to be about 350 ps. A developed rate equation model for the Q-switched and mode-locked lasers with an AO Q-switch were proposed by using the hyperbolic secant functional methods. An alternately intermittent oscillation technique was proposed and an intermittent oscillation dual-wavelength diode side-pumped solid-state laser has been set up. The model of rate equations of intermittent oscillation dual-wavelength laser has been considered. By this means, the population inversion was distributed efficiently, mode competition of both laser lines can be avoided, the effect resulted from the accuracy of the coating process can be reduced and the stable output of dual-wavelength was easily obtained. What is more, for different operation condition, the ratio of the output powers can be controlled by changing the delay time, so it is very beneficial to all-solid-state RGB lasers. We have demonstrated a self-staring passively continuous-wave mode-locked diode end-pumped Nd:YLF laser with a semiconductor saturable absorber mirror of single-quantum-well (In0.25Ga0.75As) grown by metal-organic chemical-vapor deposition technique at low temperature. The saturable absorber was used as nonlinear absorber and output coupler simultaneously. Stable pulse duration of 3 ps has been achieved at the repetition rate of 98 MHz. The average output power was 530 mW at 1053 nm under the incident pump power of 10 W, corresponding to the peak power of 1.8 kW and pulse energy of 5.4 nJ. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

A diode-end-pumped Nd:LGGG dual-wavelength synchronously mode-locked laser operation at 1.06 μm was demonstrated. The maximum average output power of 475 mW was obtained. The two wavelengths were simultaneous mode-locked at 1060.9 and 1062.7 nm with the pulse duration of 6.3 ps. We have demonstrated stable self-starting passive mode-locking in a diode-end-pumped Nd:YVO4 laser using a semiconductor saturable absorber mirror (SESAM). An In0.25Ga0.75As single quantum-well SESAM, which was grown by the metalorganic chemical-vapor deposition technique at low temperature, acts as a passive mode-locking device and an output coupler at the same time. Continuous-wave mode-locked transform-limited pulses were obtained at 1064 nm with a pulse duration of 2.1 ps and an average output power of 1.28 W at a repetition rate of 96.5 MHz. A high optical quality Nd:SrLaAlO4 (Nd:SLA) crystal was grown using the Czochralski method and showed broad fluorescence spectrum with a full width at half maximum value of 34 nm, which is beneficial for generating femtosecond laser pulses. A stable diode-pumped passively mode-locked femtosecond Nd:SLA laser with 458 fs pulse duration was achieved for the first time at a central wavelength of 1077.9 nm. A diode-end-pumped Q-switched high-efficiency Nd,Cr:YAG laser with simultaneous dual-wavelength emission at 946nm and 1.3 μm is demonstrated. The maximum output power of 1.93 W with simultaneous dual-wavelength operation is achieved at an absorbed pump power of 13.32 W and an absorbed slope efficiency of 15.15%. The maximum optical-optical efficiency is 14.49% with pulse widths of 16.38 ns at 946 nm and 26.65 ns at 1.3 μm. A maximum total repetition rate of 43.25 kHz is obtained. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
