Abstract

Goniopholididae is a group of basal neosuchian crocodyliforms closely related to Paralligatoridae and Eusuchia that lived during the Jurassic and Early Cretaceous. Goniopholidids have the long, flat snout and secondary palate of modern crocodylians, the acquisition of which is regarded as a key feature in the early evolution of crocodylian body plan and their aquatic adaptation. Here, we report a new species,Amphicotylus milesi, with the description from the best-preserved specimen to date of Goniopholididae from Wyoming, USA. Its posterior extension of the nasopharyngeal passage (pterygoid secondary palate) and the shortening and dorsal deflection of the ceratobranchial suggest that basal neosuchians could raise their gular valve to separate oral and pharyngeal cavities as in modern crocodylians. The anatomy ofAmphicotylus milesisheds light on the acquisition of this new respiratory system in the crocodyliform evolution and their early aquatic adaptation, leading to modern crocodylians.

Abstract

National audience; We have been conducting questionnaire survey targeting MPI users of the whole world. At the time of this writing, we get more than 800 answers from more than 40 countries. We analyzed the currently available answers and have found some interesting results which indicate that the Japanese MPI users are different from the MPI users of the rest of the world. This paper focuses on those possible specificities of Japanese MPI users and warns the future of Japanese HPC community based on the resuklt of the survey. Since the survey is still open and accepting answers, this is an interim report of the survey.

Abstract

A new self-aligned pocket (SPI) implantation technology developed for MOSFETs enhances the short channel characteristics without changing the junction capacitance. The SPI technology consists of a TiSi2 film and gate electrode as self-aligned marks for the implantation, with an epi substrate reducing the surface impurity levels. The SPI and gate to drain overlapped structure enable the use of low impurity levels to cause a high saturation drain current. The SPI is applicable for low supply voltage operations.
