This paper addresses some interesting results of mild solutions to fractional evolution systems with order α ∈ (1,2) in Banach spaces as well as the controllability problem. Firstly, we deduce a new representation of solution operators and give a new concept of mild solutions for the objective equations by the Laplace transform and Mainardi's Wright-type function, and then we proceed to establish a new compact result of the solution operators when the sine family is compact. Secondly, the controllability results of mild solutions are obtained. Finally, an example is presented to illustrate the main results. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The brain of a human neonate is more vulnerable to hypoglycemia than that of pediatric and adult patients. Repetitive and profound hypoglycemia during the neonatal period (RPHN) causes brain damage and leads to severe neurologic sequelae. Ex vivo high-resolution H nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy was carried out in the present study to detect metabolite alterations in newborn and adolescent rats and investigate the effects of RPHN on their occipital cortex and hippocampus. Results showed that RPHN induces significant changes in a number of cerebral metabolites, and such changes are region-specific. Among the 16 metabolites detected by ex vivo H NMR, RPHN significantly increased the levels of creatine, glutamate, glutamine, γ-aminobutyric acid, and aspartate, as well as other metabolites, including succine, taurine, and myo-inositol, in the occipital cortex of neonatal rats compared with the control. By contrast, changes in these neurochemicals were not significant in the hippocampus of neonatal rats. When the rats had developed into adolescence, the changes above were maintained and the levels of other metabolites, including lactate, N-acetyl aspartate, alanine, choline, glycine, acetate, and ascorbate, increased in the occipital cortex. By contrast, most of these metabolites were reduced in the hippocampus. These metabolic changes suggest that complementary mechanisms exist between these two brain areas. RPHN appears to affect occipital cortex and hippocampal activities, neurotransmitter transition, energy metabolism, and other metabolic equilibria in newborn rats; these effects are further aggravated when the newborn rats develop into adolescence. Changes in the metabolism of neurotransmitter system may be an adaptive measure of the central nervous system in response to RPHN. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Different 2D materials can be stacked by the weak van der Waals (vdW) force, forming the vdW heterostructures and devices, which opens a new field of engineering regulation of electronic and optical properties at the atomic level. The asymmetric strain‐introduced interface effect is studied on the electronic and optical properties of CsPbI3/SnS vdW heterostructure by employing first‐principles calculations. The biaxial strains deriving from the interface mismatch reduce the work function of the monolayer SnS to a low‐energy level, and lead to monolayer SnS an indirect‐to‐direct bandgap transition. The different charge transfer behaviors in the PbI2‐ (CsI‐) surface indicate that monolayer SnS can act as the promising hole‐ (electron‐) transport material of perovskite solar cells (PSCs). Moreover, the interface effect causes the absorption spectrum of the CsPbI3/SnS heterostructure an obvious redshift and enhances its absorption ability, which is more suitable for photovoltaic devices. This work suggests that the strain‐introduced interface effect plays a significant role in the interface engineering of the vdW heterostructure between perovskite and 2D materials, which provides a new way to fabricate the high performance perovskite/2D materials heterostructure‐based solar cells and optoelectronic devices. This paper studies the existence of mild solutions and the compactness of a set of mild solutions to a nonlocal problem of fractional evolution inclusions of order α ∈ (1 , 2) . The main tools of our study include the concepts of fractional calculus, multivalued analysis, the cosine family, method of measure of noncompactness, and fixed-point theorem. Background: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is currently one of the most common malignant tumors with the highest mortality rates in the world. Most patients with HCC have lost the opportunity for surgery at the time of initial diagnosis. This study aims to introduce a new conversion strategy: trans-arterial chemo-emobilization (TACE) combined with laparoscopic portal vein ligation (PVL) and terminal branches portal vein embolization (PVE)., Methods: From November 2018 to February 2023, patients with HCC and insufficient future liver remnant (FLR) were included for this novel treatment strategy. At first, TACE was performed. Then, these patients underwent laparoscopic PVL and terminal branches PVE. After hypertrophy of FLR, these patients underwent the second stage of liver resection. All patients were followed up regularly postoperatively., Results: A total of 13 patients with HCC were included. All patients underwent the TACE and the first stage of laparoscopic PVL and terminal branches PVE. After a mean of 28.7 days after the first stage of operation, the FLR increased by a mean of 183.4 cm 3 , equivalent to 49%. All patients underwent the second stage of liver resection. There was no surgical mortality. The mean postoperative hospital stay was 9.1 days. This study aims to explore the molecular regulatory mechanism of the differential accumulation of flavonoids between 'Xianglei' and the wild type of Lonicera macranthoides. The flowers, stems, and leaves of the two varieties of L. macranthoides were collected. Ultra-performance liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry(UPLC-MS) and high-throughput sequencing(RNA-seq) were employed to screen out the differential flavonoids, key differentially expressed genes(DEGs) and transcription factors(TFs). Fourteen DEGs were randomly selected for verification by qRT-PCR. The results showed that a total of 17 differential flavonoids were obtained, including naringin chalcone, apigenin, and quercetin. The transcriptomic analysis predicted 19 DEGs associated with flavonoids, including 2 genes encoding chitin synthase(CHS) and 3 genes encoding chalcone isomerase(CHI). The regulatory network analysis and weighted gene co-expression network analysis(WGCNA) screen out the key enzyme genes CHS1, FLS1, and HCT regulating the accumulation of flavonoids. MYB12 and LBD4 may be involved in the biosynthesis of flavonoids by regulating the expression of key enzyme genes CHS1, FLS1, and HCT. The qRT-PCR and RNA-seq results were similar regarding the expression patterns of the 14 randomly selected DEGs. This study preliminarily analyzed the transcriptional regulatory mechanism for the differential accumulation of flavonoids in the two varieties of L. macranthoides and laid a foundation for further elucidating the regulatory effects of key enzyme genes and TFs on the accumulation of flavonoids.

The objective of this study was to evaluate the impact of finasteride on the progression of prostate intraepithelial neoplasia and levels of prostate-specific antigen (PSA) in patients. A total of 120 patients with high-grade prostatic intraepithelial neoplasia were included in this study from January 2013 to January 2018. All patients underwent prostate biopsies. Among them, 60 patients were assigned to the observation group and received a daily dosage of 5 mg finasteride for 60 months, while the remaining 60 patients were assigned to the control group and did not receive finasteride. PSA levels were measured every six months, and imaging scans were conducted throughout the five-year study period. Additional biopsies were performed if PSA levels exceeded 10 ng/mL or imaging suggested the presence of prostate cancer. Statistical analysis was applied to the collected data. In total, 25 cases of prostate cancer were identified in this study. Of these cases, 7 patients belonged to the observation group, whereas the remaining 18 patients were from the control group. The observation group exhibited significantly lower levels of total serum PSA (p < 0.001) and Gleason scores (p < 0.001) compared to the control group. Our study, which involved 120 participants, demonstrated that finasteride effectively reduces serum PSA levels and mitigates the severity of prostate cancer. These findings suggest that finasteride holds potential as a treatment option for patients with -high-grade prostatic intraepithelial neoplasia.

Rheumatoid arthritis(RA), as a chronic autoimmune disease, has a high incidence and disability rate, causing significant suffering to patients. Due to its complex pathogenesis, it has not been fully elucidated to date, and its treatment remains a challenging problem in the medical field. Although western medicine treatment options have certain efficacy, they require prolonged use and are expensive. Additionally, they carry risks of multiple infections and adverse reactions like malignancies. The Chinese herbal medicine Rhododendron molle is commonly used in folk medicine for its properties of dispelling wind, removing dampness, calming nerves, and alleviating pain in the treatment of diseases like rheumatic bone diseases. In recent years, modern clinical and pharmacological studies have shown that the diterpenoids in R. molle are effective components, exhibiting immune-regulatory, anti-inflammatory, and analgesic effects. This makes it a promising candidate for treating RA with a broad range of potential applications. However, R. molle has certain toxic properties that hinder its clinical application and lead to the wastage of its resources. This study reviewed recent research progress on the mechanism of R. molle in preventing and treating RA, focusing on its chemical components, anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties and summarized the adverse reactions associated with R. molle, aiming to offer new ideas for finding natural remedies for RA and methods to reduce toxicity while enhancing the effectiveness of R. molle. The study seeks to clarify the safety and efficacy of R. molle and its extracts, providing a theoretical basis for its application prospects and further promoting the development and utilization of R. molle resources.

Background and Objectives: Qingbutongluo pill (QBTLP), a Chinese herbal preparation, has been developed to treat brucellosis for many years with a good therapeutic effect. This study preliminarily explored its potential molecular mechanisms against brucellosis through network pharmacology., Methods: The active ingredients of QBTLP were screened out mainly from the Traditional Chinese medicine systems pharmacology database and analysis platform (TCMSP), and their potential targets were predicted through the PubChem database and Swiss Target Prediction platform. GeneCards, DisGeNET Digsee and the Comparative Toxicogenomics Database (CTD) searched the targets corresponding to brucellosis. Then, the Venn diagram obtained intersection targets of QBTLP and diseases. Protein-protein interaction (PPI) network analysis was performed using the Search Tool for the Retrieval of Interacting Genes database (STRING) and visualized in Cytoscape software. Module analysis of the PPI network and core target identification was performed using the Molecular Complex Detection (MCODE) and the Cytohubba plugins. The Metascape data platform was used to perform Gene Ontology (GO) and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) pathway enrichment analysis on the intersection targets, and then the "active ingredientstargets- pathways" network was constructed using Cytoscape to screen key active ingredients., Results: 19 key active ingredients were identified by network pharmacological, including Baicalein, Cryptopin, etc. The core targets of QBTLP for treating brucellosis contained TNF, TLR4, MAPK3, MAPK1, MAPK8, MAPK14, MMP9, etc. And the main pathways included the Toll-like receptor signaling pathway, NOD-like receptor signaling pathway, TNF signaling pathway, MAPK signaling pathway, Th17 cell differentiation, and IL-17 signaling pathway., Conclusions: This study explored the mechanisms of QBTLP for treating brucellosis, which may provide a scientific basis for the clinical application of QBTLP., (Copyright© Bentham Science Publishers; For any queries, please email at epub@benthamscience.net.)

Objective: To investigate the feasibility and reliability on the quantitative evaluation of Colles' fracture by multislice CT (MSCT) multiplanner reconstruction (MPR)., Methods: A total of 36 patients with Colles' fracture from July 2011 to July 2014 were investigated in this study. There were 11 males and 25 females with a mean age of (42.5 ± 5.4) years old (ranged 35 to 72 years). All the patients underwent anteroposterior and lateral X-ray films and MSCT scans on wrist joints within 2 days after trauma. Images were sent to the workstation through picture archiving and conserving system (PACS). One associate chief physician independently and respectively measured the dorsal intercalation depth of distal fracture block, palmar angle and dislocation degree of wrist articular surface collapse on anteroposterior and lateral X-ray film and MSCT-MPR. The time interval between the two measurements was 2 weeks. All the data between the first and second measurement on X-ray and MPR and the mean value between the X-ray and MPR was examined with paired t-test. The pearson analyzed their correlation., Results: Among the 35 cases, 35 cases of palmar angle, 21 cases of intercalation depth and 16 cases of dislocation of wrist articular surface collapse could be measured on both X-ray and MPR. For the above parameters, the first measurement results were (12.5 ± 3.6)°, (4.5 ± 2.1) mm, (3.7 ± 1.6) mm and the second measurement results were (4.8 ± 2.2)°, (6.4 ± 3.6) mm, (2.5 ± 1.2) mm on X-ray films respectively. The first measurement results on MPR were (14.5 ± 5.3)°, (4.2 ± 1.2) mm, (5.7 ± 2.3) mm, and the results were (13.2 ± 2.6)°, (4.7 ± 2.2) mm, (4.6 ± 2.1) mm for the second measurement respectively. The three parameters between the first and second measurement on plain film had statistical difference and low correlation (r = 0.681, 0.640, 0.345, P < 0.05). The data between the first and second measurement on MPR showed that the dislocation degree of wrist articular surface collapse had statistical difference (P < 0.05) and no statistical significance was found for the other two parameters (P > 0.05), with the moderate correlation (r = 0.954, 0.854, 0.642). The three parameters had low or moderate correlation with each other on X-ray (r = 0.454, 0.532, 0.378, P < 0.05), compared with the mean value on MPR., Conclusion: Using MSCT MPR images may carry on the multiple parameter measurement of Colles fracture, to make quantitative evaluation, and repeated measurement is better reliability.

Objective: To investigate the value of MRI follow-up in pediatric patients with spinal tuberculosis., Methods: From February 2004 to April 2013, MRI imaging data in 21 children with spinal tuberculosis by pathologically and clinically proven were retrospectively analysed. There were 11 males and 10 males, with an average age of 9.4 years old ranging from 2 to 14 years old. Eighteen patients were received conservative treatment, 3 patients were treated by surgical operation. The course of disease ranged from 2 months to 3 years. All cases underwent two or more MRI examinations for follow-up. MRI findings of the first and second examination were comparatively analyzed,including signal changes of vertebral body and intervertebral, paraspinal abscess and the change of kyphosis angle., Results: In the 21 cases with tuberculosis, 85 vertebral bodies were affected in total, including 10.6%(9/85), 49.4%(42/85) and 40%(34/85) vertebral bodies separately in the cervical,thoracic, lumbosacral spine. Follow-up MRI showed vertebral body shape and signal had no obvious change during or after treatment, 15 cases with vertebral bodies changed flat or cuneate, 10 cases with disc involvement,and intervertebral space became narrowing at different level. Among 13 patients with kyphosis angle greater than 0°, 7 were located on thoracic, 2, 3, 1 were on thoracolumbar, lumbar and cervical spine, respectively. Among 18 cases with conservative treatment,kyphosis angle were 0° on the first and the follow up MRI of 8 patients. One case of mild (<10°) kyphosis,follow-up MRI during therapy showed the angle slightly increased; 5 cases with moderate (10° to 30°), follow-up MRI during therapy showed no obvious change; 4 cases with severe (>30°), follow-up MRI during and after therapy showed kyphosis increased in varying degrees., Conclusion: Follow-up MRI can make a big difference in the spinal tuberculosis of children; it can clearly show the change of the vertebral body and intervertebral space, paraspinal abscess and the kyphosis angle after the treatment,which can provide reference for clinical treatment and estimating prognosis.

Objective: To evaluate the onset of initial pneumatization of paranasal sinuses with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and provides references in the diagnosis and treatment of pediatric paranasal sinuses disease., Methods: The MRI images of paranasal sinuses were retrospectively reviewed for 799 children of 0 month to 15 years old and the first pneumatization time of paranasal sinuses were analyzed., Results: The ethmoidal sinuses was the first pneumatized in 100% (46/46) of newborn children. And 45.7% (21/46) of maxillary sinuses showed pneumatization during the first month of life and 97.8% (45/46) were pneumatized at 7 - 12 months. The pneumatized sphenoid sinuses was first identified as early as 4 months. And 86% (43/50) were pneumatized from 1 to 2 years old. Frontal sinuses was the last pneumatized paranasal sinuses. And 8% (4/50) of frontal sinuses were pneumatized at 1 - 2 years old and 97.8% (42/43) showed pneumatization at 14 - 15 years old., Conclusion: MRI may be used to observe the pneumatization of paranasal sinuses. The initial pneumatization time of paranasal sinuses is earlier than previously described.

The contents of ten elements Ca, K, Mg, Na, Fe, Mn, Zn, Cu, Pb and As in branches and leaves and the fruits of Sorbus tianschanica Ruper. from different habitats in Xinjiang were determined by ICP-AES using microwave digestion. The study indicated that the contents of elements in branches and leaves and the fruits of Sorbus tianschanica Ruper. from different habitats in Xinjiang are different, and the contents of elements in branches are richer than that in the fruits of Sorbus tianschanica Ruper. The contents of Ca, K, Mg, Na, Fe, Mn, Zn, and Cu are all high, and the harmful elements such as Pb and As are low. The results provide scientific basis for the development and utilization of the medicinal resource of Sorbus tianschanica Ruper. in Xinjiang.

Objective: To evaluate the magnetic resonance (MR) imaging and proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy ((1)H-MRS) in the diagnoses of pediatric hematological diseases., Methods: A total of 35 cases with pediatric hematological diseases were confirmed by bone marrow puncturing. There were acute leukemia (n = 26), aplastic anemia (n = 6), thalassemia (n = 2) and autoimmune hemolytic anemia (n = 1). Thirty age-marched healthy children underwent MR imaging (T(1)WI, T(2)WI, STIR) and (1)H-MRS of lumber spine and ilium. The lumber spines and iliums were studied by observation of MR imaging and calculation of fat fraction (FF%)., Results: Two patterns were classified by MR imaging and (1)H-MRS in lumber spines and iliums of all cases. Pattern 1: hyperplasia of bone marrow (BM). There were acute leukemia (n = 26), thalassemia (n = 2) and autoimmune hemolytic anemia (n = 1). The manifestations included homogeneous low signal intensity (SI) on T(1)WI, homogeneous low SI on T(2)WI, high SI on STIR and high water peak and low fat peak on (1)H-MRS. The FF%s of Regions of Interest (ROI) in lumber 4s and left iliums of 26 cases with acute leukemia were 0%, of 3 cases with thalassemia or autoimmune hemolytic anemia were 5.02% and 3.70%. Pattern 2: inhibition of BM. There were 6 cases of aplastic anemia. The manifestations included homogeneous or inhomogeneous high SI on T(1)WI and T(2)WI, homogeneous or inhomogeneous low SI on STIR, and low water peak and high fat peak on (1)H-MRS. FF%s of ROI in lumber 4s and left iliums for 6 cases of aplastic anemia were 74.69% and 91.51%. FF% in all groups had significant differences according to the Mann-Whitney test (P < 0.05)., Conclusions: MR imaging and (1)H-MRS may serve as a noninvasive method for checking hematopoietic status of bone marrow in pediatric hematological diseases.

Objective: There are small smount of literatures on the study of the anterior surgical approaches to the upper thoracic spine (UTS). Moreover, there are many differences among the results of these studies. This study is to investigate the exposure ranges of different anterior surgical approaches to the UTS for making the preoperative plan by means of CT images analysis., Methods: From October to December in 2008, 120 CT images of normal chests were chosen. These subjects (58 males, 62 females) ranged in age from 16 to 75 years (mean 40.3 +/- 12.3 years). By using the X-ray positioning images of these CT images,following indexes were studied: the location of the superior margin of the left brachiocephalic vein on the sagittal plane, the confluence of the bilateral brachiocephalic veins, and the vertebrae level of the tracheal bifurcation. The caudal access of E1 (the interval between the tracheo esophageal sheath and the bilateral carotid sheath), E2 (the interval between the right brachiocephalic vein and the brachiocephalic artery), and E3 (the interval between the ascending aorta and superior caval vein) were respectively defined as the above mentioned three points., Results: Among the 120 studies, 105 T2 vertebral bodies could be exposed through E1 (87.5%), 82 T3 vertebral bodies could be exposed through E2 (68.3%), and 89 T4 vertebral bodies could be exposed through E3 (74.2%)., Conclusion: The exposure ranges of three different anterior surgical approaches to the upper thoracic spine are different. Proper surgical approaches could be selected according to the chest CT images of the patients.
