Abstract: We present a measurement of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix element |V(cb)| and the form-factor slope rho2 in B --> Dl- nu(l) decays based on 460x10(6) BB events recorded at the Upsilon(4S) resonance with the BABAR detector. B --> Dl- nu(l) decays are selected in events in which a hadronic decay of the second B meson is fully reconstructed. We measure B(B- --> D0 l- nu(l))/B(B- --> Xl- nu(l)) = (0.255+/-0.009+/-0.009) and B(B0 --> D+ l- nu(l))/B(B0 --> Xl- nu(l)) = (0.230+/-0.011+/-0.011), along with the differential decay distribution in B --> Dl- nu(l) decays. We then determine G(1)|V(cb)| = (42.3+/-1.9+/-1.4)x10(-3) and rho2 = 1.20+/-0.09+/-0.04, where G(1) is the hadronic form factor at the point of zero recoil.

Abstract: We search for invisible decays of the Upsilon(1S) meson using a sample of 91.4 x 10(6) Upsilon(3S) mesons collected at the BABAR/PEP-II B factory. We select events containing the decay Upsilon(3S) --> pi(+)pi(-)Upsilon(1S) and search for evidence of an undetectable Upsilon(1S) decay recoiling against the dipion system. We set an upper limit on the branching fraction B(Upsilon(1S) --> invisible) < 3.0 x 10(-4) at the 90% confidence level.

Abstract: We present a search for the radiative leptonic decay B+→≤+ v≤ γ, where ≤=e, μ, using a data sample of 465×106 BB̄ pairs collected by the BABAR experiment. In this analysis, we fully reconstruct the hadronic decay of one of the B mesons in Υ(4S)→B+B- decays, then search for evidence of B+→≤+ν≤γ in the rest of the event. We observe no significant evidence of signal decays and report model-independent branching fraction upper limits of B(B+→e+νeγ)

Abstract: We present updated measurements of the branching fractions for B0 meson decays to ηK0, ηη, ηφ, ηω, η′K0, η′η′, η′φ, and η′ω, and branching fractions and CP-violating charge asymmetries for B+ decays to ηπ+, ηK+, η′π+, and η′K+. The data represent the full data set of 467×106 BB̄ pairs collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy e+e- collider at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory. Besides large signals for the four charged B decay modes and for B0→η′K0, we find evidence for three B0 decay modes at greater than 3.0σ significance. We find B(B0→ηK0)=(1.15-0.38+0. 43±0.09)×10-6, B(B0→ηω)=(0.94-0.30+0.35±0.09) ×10-6, and B(B0→η′ω)=(1.01-0.38+0.46±0.09) ×10-6, where the first (second) uncertainty is statistical (systematic). For the B+→ηK+ decay mode, we measure the charge asymmetry Ach(B+→ηK+)=-0.36±0.11±0.03. © 2009 The American Physical Society.

Abstract: A precise measurement of the cross section of the process e(+)e(-) --> pi(+)pi(-)(gamma) from threshold to an energy of 3 GeV is obtained with the initial state radiation (ISR) method using 232 fb(-1) of data collected with the BABAR detector at e(+)e(-) center-of-mass energies near 10.6 GeV. The ISR luminosity is determined from a study of the leptonic process e(+)e(-) --> mu(+)mu(-)gamma(gamma). The leading-order hadronic contribution to the muon magnetic anomaly calculated using the pipi cross section measured from threshold to 1.8 GeV is (514.1 +/- 2.2(stat) +/- 3.1(syst)) x 10(-10).

Abstract: We perform a time-dependent amplitude analysis of B0→KS0π+π- decays to extract the CP violation parameters of f0(980)KS0 and ρ0(770)KS0 and the direct CP asymmetry of K*+(892)π-. The results are obtained from a data sample of (383±3)×106 BB̄ decays, collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy B factory at SLAC. We find two solutions, with an equivalent goodness-of-fit. Including systematic and Dalitz plot model uncertainties, the combined confidence interval for values of the CP parameter βeff in B0 decays to f0(980)KS0 is 18°

Abstract: We present the result from a precision measurement of the mass of the τ lepton, Mτ, based on 423fb-1 of data recorded at the Υ(4S) resonance with the BABAR detector. Using a pseudomass endpoint method, we determine the mass to be 1776.68±0.12(stat)±0.41(syst)MeV. We also measure the mass difference between the τ+ and τ-, and obtain (Mτ+-Mτ-)/ MAVGτ=(-3.4±1.3(stat)±0.3(syst))×10-4, where MAVGτ is the average value of Mτ+ and Mτ-. © 2009 The American Physical Society.

Abstract: We present measurements of the branching fraction B and longitudinal polarization fraction fL for B0→a1(1260)+a1(1260)- decays, with a1(1260)±→π-π+π±. The data sample, collected with the BABAR detector at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory, represents 465×106 produced BB̄ pairs. We measure B(B0→a1(1260)+a1(1260)-) ×[B(a1(1260)+→π-π+π+)]2=(11.8±2.6±1.6) ×10-6 and fL=0.31±0.22±0.10, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. The decay mode is measured with a significance of 5.0 standard deviations including systematic uncertainties. © 2009 The American Physical Society.

Abstract: We present an analysis of the decays B{0}-->K{*0}(892)gamma and B{+}-->K{*+}(892)gamma using a sample of about 383 x 10{6} BB[-over ] events collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric energy B factory. We measure the branching fractions B(B{0}-->K{*0}gamma)=(4.47+/-0.10+/-0.16) x 10{-5} and B(B{+}-->K{*+}gamma)=(4.22+/-0.14+/-0.16) x 10{-5}. We constrain the direct CP asymmetry to be -0.033K{*}gamma)

Abstract: We present evidence of D{0}-D[-over ]{0} mixing using a time-dependent amplitude analysis of the decay D{0}-->K+pi{-}pi;{0} in a data sample of 384 fb{-1} collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II e+e{-} collider at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center. Assuming CP conservation, we measure the mixing parameters x{Kpipi{0}}{'}=[2.61{-0.68}{+0.57}(stat)+/-0.39(syst)]%, y{Kpipi;{0}}{'}=[-0.06{-0.64}{+0.55}(stat)+/-0.34(syst)]%. This result is inconsistent with the no-mixing hypothesis with a significance of 3.2 standard deviations. We find no evidence of CP violation in mixing.

Abstract: We observe the decays Ds1*(2710)+→D*K and DsJ*(2860)+→D*K and measure their branching fractions relative to the DK final state. We also observe, in the D*K mass spectrum, a new broad structure at a mass of (3044±8stat(+30-5)syst)MeV/c2 having a width Γ=(239±35stat(+46-42)syst)MeV. To obtain this result we use 470fb-1 of data recorded by the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy e+e- storage rings at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center running at center-of-mass energies near 10.6 GeV. © 2009 The American Physical Society.

We perform a Gronau-London-Wyler analysis where the D meson decays into either a CP-even (CP+) eigenstate (K+K-, π+π-), CP-odd (CP-) eigenstate (KS0π0, KS0, KS0ω) or a non-CP state (K-π+). We also analyze D meson decays into K+π- from a Cabibbo-favored D̄0 decay or doubly suppressed D0 decay [Atwood-Dunietz-Soni (ADS) analysis]. We measure observables that are sensitive to the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa angle γ: the partial-rate charge asymmetries ACP±, the ratios RCP± of the B-decay branching fractions in CP± and non-CP decay, the ratio RADS of the charge-averaged branching fractions, and the charge asymmetry AADS of the ADS decays: ACP+=0.09±0.13±0.06, ACP-=-0.23±0.21±0. 07, RCP+=2.17±0.35±0.09, RCP-=1.03±0.27±0.13, RADS=0.066±0.031±0.010, and AADS=-0.34±0.43±0.16, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. Combining all the measurements and using a frequentist approach yields the magnitude of the ratio between the Cabibbo-suppressed and favored amplitudes, rB=0.31 with a one (two) sigma confidence level interval of [0.24, 0.38] ([0.17, 0.43]). The value rB=0 is excluded at the 3.3 sigma level. A similar analysis excludes values of γ in the intervals [0, 7]°, [55, 111]°, and [175, 180]°([85, 99]°) at the one (two) sigma confidence level. © 2009 The American Physical Society.

Abstract: We measure the rate of D0-D̄0 mixing with the observable yCP=(τKπ/τKK)-1, where τKK and τKπ are, respectively, the mean lifetimes of CP-even D0→K+K- and CP-mixed D0→K-π+ decays, using a data sample of 384fb-1 collected by the BABAR detector at the SLAC PEP-II asymmetric-energy B Factory. From a sample of D0 and D̄0 decays where the initial flavor of the decaying meson is not determined, we obtain yCP=[1.12±0.26(stat)±0.22(syst)]%, which excludes the no-mixing hypothesis at 3.3σ, including both statistical and systematic uncertainties. This result is in good agreement with a previous BABAR measurement of yCP obtained from a sample of D*+→D0π+ events, where the D0 decays to K-π+, K+K-, and π+π-, which is disjoint with the untagged D0 events used here. Combining the two results taking into account statistical and systematic uncertainties, where the systematic uncertainties are assumed to be 100% correlated, we find yCP=[1.16±0.22(stat)±0. 18(syst)]%, which excludes the no-mixing hypothesis at 4.1σ. © 2009 The American Physical Society.

Abstract: We have performed a search for the eta_{b}(1S) meson in the radiative decay of the Upsilon(2S) resonance using a sample of 91.6x10(6) Upsilon(2S) events recorded with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II B factory at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory. We observe a peak in the photon energy spectrum at Egamma=609.3(-4.5)(+4.6)(stat)+/-1.9(syst) MeV, corresponding to an eta(b)(1S) mass of 9394.2(-4.9)(+4.8)(stat)+/-2.0(syst) MeV/c2. The branching fraction for the decay Upsilon(2S)-->gamma(eta)b(1S) is determined to be [3.9+/-1.1(stat)-0.9+1.1(syst)]x10(-4). We find the ratio of branching fractions B[Upsilon(2S)-->gamma(eta)b(1S)]/B[Upsilon(3S)-->gamma(eta)b(1S)]=0.82+/-0.24(stat)(-0.19)(+0.20)(syst).

Abstract: We report the observation of the baryonic B-decay B̄0→Λ c+p̄K-π+, excluding contributions from the decay B̄0→Λ c+Λ̄K-. Using a data sample of 467×106 BB̄ pairs collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II storage ring at SLAC, the measured branching fraction is (4.33±0.82stat±0.33syst±1. 13Λc+)×10-5. In addition we find evidence for the resonant decay B̄0→Σc(2455)++p̄K- and determine its branching fraction to be (1.11±0.30stat±0.09syst±0.29Λc+)×10-5. The errors are statistical, systematic, and due to the uncertainty in the Λc+ branching fraction. For the resonant decay B̄0→Λc+p̄ K̄*0 we obtain an upper limit of 2.42×10-5 at 90% confidence level. © 2009 The American Physical Society.

Abstract: We study the reaction e+e-→e+e-π0 in the single tag mode and measure the differential cross section dσ/dQ2 and the γγ *→π0 transition form factor in the momentum transfer range from 4 to 40GeV2. At Q2>10GeV2 the measured form factor exceeds the asymptotic limit predicted by perturbative QCD. The analysis is based on 442fb-1 of integrated luminosity collected at PEP-II with the BABAR detector at e+e- center-of-mass energies near 10.6 GeV. © 2009 The American Physical Society.

Abstract: We present a search for decays of B mesons to final states with a b1 meson and a ρ or K*(892) meson. The search is based on a data sample consisting of 465 million BB̄ pairs collected by the BABAR detector at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory. We do not observe any statistically significant signal. Abstract: We search for evidence of a light scalar boson in the radiative decays of the Upsilon(2S) and Upsilon(3S) resonances: Upsilon(2S,3S)-->gammaA0, A0-->mu+mu-. Such a particle appears in extensions of the standard model, where a light CP-odd Higgs boson naturally couples strongly to b quarks. We find no evidence for such processes in the mass range 0.212 < or = mA0 < or = 9.3 GeV in the samples of 99 x 10(6) Upsilon(2S) and 122 x 10(6) Upsilon(3S) decays collected by the BABAR detector at the SLAC PEP-II B factory and set stringent upper limits on the effective coupling of the b quark to the A0. We also limit the dimuon branching fraction of the etab meson: B(etab-->mu+mu-)

Abstract: We describe searches for B0 meson decays to the charmless final states π0KS0KS0, ηKS0KS0, and η′KS0KS0. The data sample corresponds to 467×106 BB̄ pairs produced in e+e- annihilation and collected with the BABAR detector at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory. We find no significant signals and determine the 90% confidence level upper limits on the branching fractions, in units of 10-7, B(B0→π0KS0KS0)

Abstract: We present a study of the decays B0→D0K*0 and B0→D̄0K*0 with K*0→K+π-. The D0 and the D̄0 mesons are reconstructed in the final states f=K+π-, K+π-π0, K+π-π+π-, and their charge conjugates. Using a sample of 465×106 BB̄ pairs collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy e+e- collider at SLAC, we measure the ratio RADS[Γ(B̄0→[f] DK̄*0)+Γ(B0→[f̄]DK*0)]/[Γ(B̄0→ [f̄]DK̄*0)+Γ(B0→[f]DK*0)] for the three final states. We do not find significant evidence for a signal and set the following limits at 95% probability: RADS(Kπ)

Abstract: We present a study of B decays into semileptonic final states containing charged and neutral D1(2420) and D_{2};{*}(2460). The analysis is based on a data sample of 208 fb;{-1} collected at the Upsilon(4S) resonance with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy B factory at SLAC. With a simultaneous fit to four different decay chains, the semileptonic branching fractions are extracted from measurements of the mass difference Deltam=m(D;{**})-m(D) distributions. Product branching fractions are determined to be B(B;{+}-->D_{1};{0}l;{+}nu_{l})xB(D_{1};{0}-->D;{*+}pi;{-})=(2.97+/-0.17+/-0.17)x10;{-3}, B(B;{+}-->D_{2};{*0}l;{+}nu_{l})xB(D_{2};{*0}-->D;{(*)+}pi;{-})=(2.29+/-0.23+/-0.21)x10;{-3}, B(B;{0}-->D_{1};{-}l;{+}nu_{l})xB(D_{1};{-}-->D;{*0}pi;{-})=(2.78+/-0.24+/-0.25)x10;{-3} and B(B;{0}-->D_{2};{*-}l;{+}nu_{l})xB(D_{2};{*-}-->D;{(*)0}pi;{-})=(1.77+/-0.26+/-0.11)x10;{-3}. In addition we measure the branching ratio Gamma(D_{2};{*}-->Dpi;{-})/Gamma(D_{2};{*}-->D;{(*)}pi;{-})=0.62+/-0.03+/-0.02.

Abstract: We search for the neutrinoless, lepton-flavor-violating tau decays tau- -->l-}V0, where l is an electron or muon and V0 is a vector meson reconstructed as phi-->K+K-, rho-->pi+pi-, K-->K+pi-, K[over ]-->K-pi+. The analysis has been performed using 451 fb-1 of data collected at an e+e- center-of-mass energy near 10.58 GeV with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II storage rings. The number of events found in the data is compatible with the background expectation, and upper limits on the branching fractions are set in the range (2.6-19)x10-8 at the 90% confidence level.

Abstract: We present a measurement of the B0→Λ̄pπ- branching fraction performed using the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric e+e- collider. Based on a sample of 467×106 BB̄ pairs we measure B(B0→Λ̄pπ-)=[3.07±0.31(stat)±0.23(syst)] ×10-6. The measured differential spectrum as a function of the dibaryon invariant mass m(Λ̄p) shows a near-threshold enhancement similar to that observed in other baryonic B decays. We study the Λ̄ polarization as a function of Λ̄ energy in the B0 rest frame (EΛ̄*) and compare it with theoretical expectations of fully longitudinally right-polarized Λ̄ at large EΛ̄*. © 2009 The American Physical Society.

Abstract: We report on a Dalitz plot analysis of B-→D+π-π- decays, based on a sample of about 383×106 Υ(4S)→BB̄ decays collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy B Factory at SLAC. We find the total branching fraction of the three-body decay: B(B-→D+π- π-)=(1.08±0.03±0.05)×10-3. We observe the established D2*0 and confirm the existence of D0*0 in their decays to D+π-, where the D2*0 and D0*0 are the 2+ and 0+cū P-wave states, respectively. We measure the masses and widths of D2*0 and D0*0 to be: mD2*0=(2460.4±1.2±1.2±1.9)MeV/c2, ΓD2*0=(41.8±2.5±2.1±2.0)MeV, mD0*0=(2297±8±5±19)MeV/c2, and ΓD0*0= (273±12±17±45)MeV. The stated errors reflect the statistical and systematic uncertainties, and the uncertainty related to the assumed composition of signal events and the theoretical model. © 2009 The American Physical Society.

Abstract: We report the results of a search for Z(4430)- decay to J/ψπ- or ψ(2S)π- in B-,0→J/ψπ-K0,+ and B-,0→ψ(2S)π-K0,+ decays. The data were collected with the BABAR detector at the SLAC PEP-II asymmetric-energy e+e- collider operating at center-of-mass energy 10.58 GeV, and the sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 413fb-1. Each Kπ- mass distribution exhibits clear K*(892) and K2*(1430) signals, and the efficiency-corrected spectrum is well described by a superposition of the associated Breit-Wigner intensity distributions, together with an S-wave contribution obtained from the LASS I=1/2 Kπ- scattering amplitude measurements. Each Kπ- angular distribution varies significantly in structure with Kπ- mass, and is represented in terms of low-order Legendre polynomial moments. We find that each J/ψπ- or ψ(2S)π- mass distribution is well described by the reflection of the measured Kπ- mass and angular distribution structures. We see no significant evidence for a Z(4430)- signal for any of the processes investigated, neither in the total J/ψπ- or ψ(2S)π- mass distribution, nor in the corresponding distributions for the regions of Kπ- mass for which observation of the Z(4430)- signal was reported. We obtain branching-fraction upper limits B(B-→Z-K̄0,Z- →J/ψπ-)

Abstract: We present measurements of the semileptonic decays B-→D0τ- ν̄τ, B-→D*0τ-ν̄τ, B̄0→D+τ- ν̄τ, and B̄0→D*+τ-ν̄τ, which are sensitive to non-standard model amplitudes in certain scenarios. The data sample consists of 232×106Υ(4S)→BB̄ decays collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II e+e- collider. We select events with a D or D* meson and a light lepton (=e or μ) recoiling against a fully reconstructed B meson. We perform a fit to the joint distribution of lepton momentum and missing mass squared to distinguish signal B̄→D(*) τ-ν̄τ(τ-→-ν̄ντ) events from the backgrounds, predominantly B̄→D(*)-ν̄. We measure the branching-fraction ratios R(D)B(B̄→Dτ-ν̄τ)/ B(B̄→D-ν̄) and R(D*)B(B̄→D*τ- ν̄τ)/B(B̄→D*-ν̄) and, from a combined fit to B- and B̄0 channels, obtain the results R(D)=(41.6±11.7±5.2) % and R(D*)=(29.7±5.6±1.8)%, where the uncertainties are statistical and systematic. Normalizing to measured B-→D(*)0- ν̄ branching fractions, we obtain B(B̄→Dτ-ν̄τ) =(0.86±0.24±0.11±0.06)% and B(B̄→D*τ- ν̄τ)=(1.62±0.31±0.10±0.05)%, where the additional third uncertainty is from the normalization mode. We also present, for the first time, distributions of the lepton momentum, |p*|, and the squared momentum transfer, q2. © 2009 The American Physical Society.

Abstract: Using a sample of 383 x 10;{6} BB[over ] events collected by the BABAR experiment, we measure sums of seven exclusive final states B-->X_{d(s)}gamma, where X_{d}(X_{s}) is a nonstrange (strange) charmless hadronic system in the mass range 0.6-1.8 GeV/c;{2}. After correcting for unmeasured decay modes in this mass range, we obtain a branching fraction for b-->dgamma of (7.2+/-2.7(stat)+/-2.3(syst))x10;{-6}. Taking the ratio of X_{d} to X_{s} we find Gamma(b-->dgamma)/Gamma(b-->sgamma)=0.033+/-0.013(stat)+/-0.009(syst), from which we determine |V_{td}/V_{ts}|=0.177+/-0.043.

Abstract: We present improved measurements of the branching fraction B, the longitudinal polarization fraction f{L}, and the direct CP asymmetry A{CP} in the B meson decay channel B;{+}-->rho;{+}rho;{0}. The data sample was collected with the BABAR detector at SLAC. The results are B(B;{+}-->rho;{+}rho;{0})=(23.7+/-1.4+/-1.4) x 10;{-6}, f{L}=0.950+/-0.015+/-0.006, and A{CP}=-0.054+/-0.055+/-0.010, where the uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. Based on these results, we perform an isospin analysis and determine the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa phase angle alpha=arg(-V{td}V{tb};/V{ud}V{ub}) to be (92.4{-6.5};{+6.0}) degrees.

Abstract: We present a Dalitz plot analysis of charmless B± decays to the final state π±π±π using a sample of (465±5) ×106 BB̄ pairs collected by the BABAR experiment at s=10.58GeV. We measure the branching fractions B(B±→π±π±π)= (15.2±0.6±1.2±0.4)×10-6, B(B±→ρ0(770) π±)=(8.1±0.7±1.2-1.1+0.4)×10-6, B(B±→f2(1270)π±)=(1.57±0.42±0.16-0.19+0.53) ×10-6, and B(B±→π±π±πnonresonant)=(5. 3±0.7±0.6-0.5+1.1)×10-6, where the uncertainties are statistical, systematic, and model-dependent, respectively. Measurements of branching fractions for the modes B±→ρ0(1450)π± and B±→f0(1370)π± are also presented. We observe no significant direct CP asymmetries for the above modes, and there is no evidence for the decays B±→f0(980)π±, B±→χc0π ±, or B±→χc2π±. © 2009 The American Physical Society.

Abstract: We present constraints on the angle γ of the unitarity triangle with a Dalitz analysis of neutral D decays to KSπ+π- from the processes B0→D̄0K*0 (B̄0→D0K̄*0) and B0→D0K*0 (B̄0→D̄0K̄*0) with K*0→K+π- (K̄*0→K-π+). Using a sample of 371×106 BB̄ pairs collected with the BABAR detector at PEP-II, we constrain the angle γ as a function of rS, the magnitude of the average ratio between b→u and b→c amplitudes. © 2009 The American Physical Society.

Abstract: We present a preliminary measurement of the time-dependent CP asymmetry in B0 → K *0 (K 0 S π 0 )γ decays based on 431 × 106 γ(4S) → BB decays collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy e + e - collider at SLAC. In a sample containing 316±22 signal events we measure SK * = -0.08 ± 0.31 ± 0.05 and CK * γ = -0.15 ± 0.17 ± 0.03. The uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively.

Abstract: In a search for B-->cc[over ]gammaK decays with the BABAR detector, where cc[over ] includes J/psi and psi(2S), and K includes K(+/-), K(S)(0), and K(*)(892), we find evidence for X(3872)-->J/psigamma and X(3872)-->psi(2S)gamma with 3.6sigma and 3.5sigma significance, respectively. We measure the product of branching fractions B(B(+/-)-->X(3872)K(+/-))xB(X(3872)-->J/psigamma)=[2.8+/-0.8(stat)+/-0.1(syst)]x10(-6) and B(B(+/-)-->X(3872)K(+/-))xB(X(3872)-->psi(2S)gamma)=[9.5+/-2.7(stat)+/-0.6(syst)]x10(-6).
