We present results of the Relic Axion Dark-Matter Exploratory Setup (RADES), a detector which is part of the CERN Axion Solar Telescope (CAST), searching for axion dark matter in the 34.67$$eV mass range. A radio frequency cavity consisting of 5 sub-cavities coupled by inductive irises took physics data inside the CAST dipole magnet for the first time using this filter-like haloscope geometry. An exclusion limit with a 95% credibility level on the axion-photon coupling constant of g$_{a}\gtrsim 4\times10^{-13} \text{GeV}^{-1}$ over a mass range of 34.6738 $$eV < $m_a$ < 34.6771 $$eV is set. This constitutes a significant improvement over the current strongest limit set by CAST at this mass and is at the same time one of the most sensitive direct searches for an axion dark matter candidate above the mass of 25 $$eV. The results also demonstrate the feasibility of exploring a wider mass range around the value probed by CAST-RADES in this work using similar coherent resonant cavities., 14 pages, 9 figures. - Abstract
We report on a new search for solar chameleons with the CERN Axion Solar Telescope (CAST). A GridPix detector was used to search for soft X-ray photons in the energy range from 200 eV to 10 keV from converted solar chameleons. No significant excess over the expected background has been observed in the data taken in 2014 and 2015. We set an improved limit on the chameleon photon coupling, βγ#5.7×1010 for 1<βm<106 at 95% C.L. improving our previous results by a factor two and for the first time reaching sensitivity below the solar luminosity bound for tachocline magnetic fields up to 12.5 T.

- Abstract
We report on a first measurement with a sensitive opto-mechanical force sensor designed for the direct detection of coupling of real chameleons to matter. These dark energy candidates could be produced in the Sun and stream unimpeded to Earth. The KWISP detector installed on the CAST axion search experiment at CERN looks for tiny displacements of a thin membrane caused by the mechanical effect of solar chameleons. The displacements are detected by a Michelson interferometer with a homodyne readout scheme. The sensor benefits from the focusing action of the ABRIXAS X-ray telescope installed at CAST, which increases the chameleon flux on the membrane. A mechanical chopper placed between the telescope output and the detector modulates the incoming chameleon stream. We present the results of the solar chameleon measurements taken at CAST in July 2017, setting an upper bound on the force acting on the membrane of 80pN at 95% confidence level. The detector is sensitive for direct coupling to matter 104≤βm≤108, where the coupling to photons is locally bound to βγ≤1011., QC 20191206

The CERN Axion Solar Telescope (CAST) searches for a→γ conversion in the 9 T magnetic field of a refurbished LHC test magnet that can be directed toward the Sun. Two parallel magnet bores can be filled with helium of adjustable pressure to match the x-ray refractive mass mγ to the axion search mass ma. After the vacuum phase (2003–2004), which is optimal for ma≲0.02 eV, we used He4 in 2005–2007 to cover the mass range of 0.02–0.39 eV and He3 in 2009–2011 to scan from 0.39 to 1.17 eV. After improving the detectors and shielding, we returned to He4 in 2012 to investigate a narrow ma range around 0.2 eV (“candidate setting” of our earlier search) and 0.39–0.42 eV, the upper axion mass range reachable with He4, to “cross the axion line” for the KSVZ model. We have improved the limit on the axion-photon coupling to gaγ

- Abstract
An experiment searching for a T-violating transverse muon polarization (Pr) in K+ --> pi (0)mu (+)nu decay is underway at the 12-GeV proton synchrotron at KEK (KEK-PS). This search is sensitive to new mechanisms of T or CP violation beyond the Standard Model. The expected sensitivity from 1996-98 data is presented based on the published result from 1996-97 data and the new result from 1998 data.

- Abstract
An experiment E246 at the 12-GeV proton synchrotron at KEK (KEK-PS), which is searching for the T-violating transverse muon polarization (P-mu(perpendicular to)) in K+ --> pi (0)mu (+)nu decay, is described. The search is sensitive to new mechanisms of T or CP violation beyond the Standard Model. The initial results of P-mu(perpendicular to) = -0.0042+/-0.0049(stat.)+/-0.0009(syst.) and the T-violating parameter Im(xi) = -0.013+/- 0.016(stat.) +/- 0.003(syst.) were determined from the data taken in 1996 and 1997.

- Abstract
A new result for the transverse mu(+) polarization, P-T, in the decay K+ --> pi(0)mu+nu has been obtained in the KEK E246 experiment. Combined with our earlier result, P-T = (-1.12 +/- 2.17(stat) +/- 0.90(syst)) X 10(-3) and Im(xi) = (-0.28 +/- 0.69(stat) +/- 0.30(syst)) X 10(-2), which are consistent with no T-violation.

- Abstract
Hypothetical low-mass particles, such as axions, provide a compelling explanation for the dark matter in the universe. Suchparticles are expected to emerge abundantly from the hot interior of stars. To test this prediction, the CERN Axion SolarTelescope (CAST) uses a 9 T refurbished Large Hadron Collider test magnet directed towards the Sun. In the strong magneticfield, solar axions can be converted to X-ray photons which can be recorded by X-ray detectors. In the 2013–2015 run, thanksto low-background detectors and a new X-ray telescope, the signal-to-noise ratio was increased by about a factor of three. Here, we report the best limit on the axion–photon coupling strength (0.66x10-10 GeV-1 at 95% confidence level) set byCAST, which now reaches similar levels to the most restrictive astrophysical bounds.

The status of the solar axion search with the CERN Axion Solar Telescope (CAST) will be presented. Recent results obtained by the use of $^3$He as a buffer gas has allowed us to extend our sensitivity to higher axion masses than our previous measurements with $^4$He. With about 1 h of data taking at each of 252 different pressure settings we have scanned the axion mass range 0.39 eV$ \le m_{a} \le $ 0.64 eV. From the absence of an excess of x rays when the magnet was pointing to the Sun we set a typical upper limit on the axion-photon coupling of g$_{a\gamma} \le 2.3\times 10^{-10}$ GeV$^{-1}$ at 95% C.L., the exact value depending on the pressure setting. CAST published results represent the best experimental limit on the photon couplings to axions and other similar exotic particles dubbed WISPs (Weakly Interacting Slim Particles) in the considered mass range and for the first time the limit enters the region favored by QCD axion models. Preliminary sensitivities for axion masses up to 1.16 eV will also be shown reaching mean upper limits on the axion-photon coupling of g$_{a\gamma} \le 3.5\times 10^{-10}$ GeV$^{-1}$ at 95% C.L. Expected sensibilities for the extension of the CAST program up to 2014 will be presented. Moreover long term options for a new helioscope experiment will be evoked., Comment: 4 pages, 2 pages, to appear in the proceedings of the 24th Rencontres de Blois V2 A few affiliations were not corrected in previous version V3 Author added

The CAST (CERN Axion Solar Telescope) experiment is searching for solar axions by their conversion into photons inside the magnet pipes of an LHC dipole. The analysis of data taken so far has shown no signal above the background, thus implying an upper limit to the axion-photon coupling of gaγ < 0.85 × 10−10GeV −1 at 95% CL for ma < 0.02 eV/c2. Ongoing measurements, with the magnet bores filled with a buffer gas (3He), are improving the sensitivity of the experiment for higher axion masses towards 1 eV/c2. Recent results, new ideas for Axion-Like Particle (WISPs) searches with CAST in the near future and the prospects of a new generation Helioscope are presented here.

In a kinematically complete setting, the $K^+ \to \pi^+ \pi^0 \pi^0$ decays of stopped $K^+$ were measured. In the frame work of the Weinberg polynomial expansion, the coefficients up to quadratic terms were deduced. The results are in good agreement with previous measurements and consistent with CP conservation expectations. The empirical $\Delta I=1/2$ rule is violated.

CAST completed its search for solar axions with $^{3}$He buffer gas in the magnet bores, covering axion masses up to 1.2 eV. In the absence of excess X-rays it has set the best experimental limit on the axion-photon coupling constant over a broad range of axion masses. In 2013 CAST has improved its sensitivity to solar axions with rest mass below 0.02 eV by using Micromegas detectors and it will continue in 2014 with the implementation of a second X-ray optic and a new type detector (InGrid). In 2013 CAST has extended its sensitivity into the sub-keV energy range using a silicon detector (SDD), to search for solar chameleons, extending its searches to the dark energy sector. This search will be continued in 2014 and 2015 as well with the InGrid detector. Future axion searches can improve the current axion sensitivity by 1 to 1.5 orders of magnitude with a new generation axion telescope (IAXO)., Published by Verlag Deutsches Elektronen-Synchrotron, Hamburg

The CERN Axion Solar Telescope (CAST) has extended its search for solar axions by using 3He as a buffer gas. At T=1.8 K this allows for larger pressure settings and hence sensitivity to higher axion masses than our previous measurements with 4He. With about 1 h of data taking at each of 252 different pressure settings we have scanned the axion mass range 0.39 eV < m_a < 0.64 eV. From the absence of excess X-rays when the magnet was pointing to the Sun we set a typical upper limit on the axion-photon coupling of g_ag < 2.3 x 10^{-10} GeV^{-1} at 95% CL, the exact value depending on the pressure setting. KSVZ axions are excluded at the upper end of our mass range, the first time ever for any solar axion search. In future we will extend our search to m_a < 1.15 eV, comfortably overlapping with cosmological hot dark matter bounds., 5 pages, 2 figures, updated author list, revised arguments, results unchanged

WISPs ,solar axion ,WISP ,Physics ,photon detectors ,solar axions - Abstract
In July 2011, CAST finished the data-taking of its nominal programme, having scanned axion masses up to ~1.18 eV/c**2. Here we present the first results of the data taken in 2008, first year of the last data-taking campaign when $^3$He was used inside the magnet bores. No excess of signal over background has been recorded, and an upper limit has been set to the axion-to-photon coupling to 2.3*10**-10 GeV**-1 for axion masses between 0.39 and 0.64 eV. CAST remains the most sensitive axion helioscope and for the first time crosses the benchmark line of the KSVZ model at the upper end of the spectrum., Proc. of Patras Workshop on Axions, WIMPs and WISPs, 93 - 97; DESY-PROC-2011-04; ISSN 1435-8077

The TWIST Collaboration has completed a new measurement of the energy-angle spectrum of positrons from the decay of highly polarized muons. A simultaneous measurement of the muon decay parameters {\rho}, {\delta}, and (P_{\mu}){\xi} tests the Standard Model (SM) in a purely leptonic process and provides improved limits for relevant extensions to the SM. Specifically, for the generalized left-right symmetric model |(g_R/g_L){\zeta}| 578 GeV/c^2, both 90% C.L.

We have started the development of a detector system, sensitive to single photons in the eV energy range, to be suitably coupled to one of the CAST magnet ports. This system should open to CAST a window on possible detection of low energy Axion Like Particles emitted by the sun. Preliminary tests have involved a cooled photomultiplier tube coupled to the CAST magnet via a Galileian telescope and a switched 40 m long optical fiber. This system has reached the limit background level of the detector alone in ideal conditions, and two solar tracking runs have been performed with it at CAST. Such a measurement has never been done before with an axion helioscope. We will present results from these runs and briefly discuss future detector developments., Paper submitted to the proceedings of the "4th Patras Workshop on Axions, WIMPs and WISPs", DESY, Hamburg Site - Germany, 18-21 June 2008. The CAST experiment at CERN is the only running solar axion telescope. The first results obtained so far with CAST-PHASE I is presented, which compete with the best astrophysically derived limits of the axion-to-photon coupling. The ongoing PHASE II of the experiment as well as the scheduled upgrades, which improve the axion discovery potential of CAST, are discussed.

Axions are expected to be produced in the sun via the Primakoff process. They may be detected through the inverse process in the laboratory, under the influence of a strong magnetic field, giving rise to X-rays of energies in the range of a few keV. Such an Axion detector is the CERN Axion Solar Telescope (CAST), collecting data since 2003. Results have been published, pushing the axion-photon coupling g$_{a\gamma}$ below the 10$^{-10}$ GeV$^{-1}$ limit at 95% CL, for axion masses less than 0.02 eV. This limit is nearly an order of magnitude lower than previous experimental limits and surpassed for the first time limits set from astrophysical arguments based on the energy-loss concept. The experiment is currently exploring axion masses in the range of 0.02 eV $< m_a, Comment: 13 pages, 5 figures, presented in the conference "Les Rencontres de Physique de la Vallee d'Aoste, La Thuile, 4 - 10 March 2007, Italy"
