Abstract

Abstract Background Accumulation of lipids within coronary plaques is an important process in disease progression. However, gray-scale intravascular ultrasound images cannot detect plaque lipids effectively. Radiofrequency signal analysis could provide more accurate information on preclinical coronary plaques. Methods We analyzed 29 zones of mild atheroma in human coronary arteries acquired at autopsy. Two histologic groups, i.e., plaques with a lipid core (group L) and plaques without a lipid core (group N), were analyzed by automatic calculation of integrated backscatter. One hundred regions of interest were set on the target zone. Radiofrequency signals from a 50 MHz transducer were digitized at 240 MHz with 12-bit resolution. The intensity of integrated backscatter and its distribution within each plaque were compared between the two groups. Results Although the mean backscatter was similar between the groups, intraplaque variation of backscatter and backscatter in the axial direction were larger in group L than in group N (p = 0.02). Conventional intravascular ultrasound showed extremely low sensitivity for lipid detection, despite a high specificity. In contrast, a cut-off value>32 for the total variance of integrated backscatter identified lipid-containing plaque with a high sensitivity (85%) and specificity (75%). Conclusion Compared with conventional imaging, assessment of the intraplaque distribution of integrated backscatter is more effective for detecting lipid. As coronary atheroma progresses, its composition becomes heterogeneous and multi-layered. This radiofrequency technique can portray complex plaque histology and can detect the early stage of plaque progression.

Abstract

Background: Light chain (AL) cardiac amyloidosis is associated with a poor prognosis. Diagnosing at an early stage is critical for treatment and the management of cardiac complication.Purpose: We aimed to evaluate the diagnostic performance of 99mTc-aprotinin images in patients with AL cardiac amyloidosis.Methods and Results: 99mTc-aprotinin scintigraphy and endomyocardial biopsy were performed in 10 patients with suspected amyloidosis. Endomyocardial biopsy showed amyloid deposits in 5 of 10 patients. 99mTc-aprotinin (planer image) was positive in 4 of 5 patients who had amyloid deposits in endomyocardial biopsy. On the other hand, all 5 patients without amyloid deposits were negative in planer image. 99mTc-aprotinin (SPECT/CT image) was positive in all 5 patients who had amyloid deposits.Conclusions: 99mTc-aprotinin scintigraphy is valuable for the non-invasive diagnosis of AL cardiac amyloidosis. Various soil such as Kunigami-maaji, Shimajiri-maaji, Kutya and jargal is widely distributed on Okinawa Island. This soil has the natural background of which erosion and runoff are productive by the weather condition of characteristics and rainfall of the distribution landform. And the outflow of reddish soil pollution is the environmental problem of sea area around Okinawa.\nIn this study the reddish soil sample was collected from Okinawa Island and Ishigaki Island, Kumejima Island, Miyako Island and Iriomote Island, and the indoor rainfall erosivity experiment was carried out. The paper aims to examine the features of coral calcareous sand (Chi-bishi and kouri sands) as the material of grain crushability. The experiment was carried under undrain shear condition via 3 typed-tests: Monotonic test, stress controlled test, strain controlled test.\nThe results was followed: (1) As to Monotonic test, angle of shear resistance of chi-bishi sand is bigger than Thyoura sand, regardless of relation density. (2) According to Stress and Strain controlled test, Chi-bishi sand had shown larger value of liquefaction resistance. (3) Trial to recompression after strain controlled test, it found that the shear strength value of Chi-bishi sand greatly increased compared with the unchanged Thyoura sand., 紀要論文

A detailed stability analysis and a deformation analysis are necessary to planning of an important structure and to preventing from a ground disaster such as landslid or ground subsidence. The coefficient of earth pressure at rest K_0-value and coefficient of viscoelastic are required in order to analyse the problems. This paper is a study on experiments on K_0-value in over consolidated region and the coefficient of viscoelstic of saturated Shimajiri-Clay, Kin-Clay and Ariake-Clay.\nK_0-value in normally consolidated region is got easily, but K_0-value in over consolidated region is not. Then K_0-value in over consolidated region is got from ln p'-η curve. The linear relations between the parameter m and the plasticity index I_p is proved.\nSaturated clay has the time dependent characteristics of deformation. Abstract

The three shear tests under constant volume condition were carried out to clarify the coincidence of the stress path of the undrained shear test with constant volume test to confirm the introduction of state boundary surface concept. Experimentally those three stress paths of tests were given similarly. As a result, the validity of concept of the state boundary surface was confirmed. Also, the distribution of water content in the specimen during shear were measured to make sure the effect on the shearing behavior. The distribution of internal water content had changed according as the shear progressed, showing high water content in the top and bottom region and low water content in the center of the specimen., 紀要論文

Static cyclic drained shear tests were performed under constant mean effective stress for normally consolidated clay.\nMoreover, undrained shear tests were performed to investigate the influence of the cyclic drained shear on undrained shear characteristics. The following results were obtained.\n1) Inclination of hysteresis loop is affected by the number of cycles and the rate of loadings. Consenquently, shear modulus depends on experimental conditions.\n2) Undrained stress path is greatly affeced by undrained shear rate of loadings.
