In recent years, the immiscible polymer blend system has attracted much attention as the matrix of nanocomposites. Herein, from the perspective of dynamics, the control of the carbon nanotubes (CNTs) migration aided with the interface of polystyrene (PS) and poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) blends was achieved through a facile melt mixing method. Thus, we revealed a comprehensive relationship between several typical CNTs migrating scenarios and the microwave dielectric properties of their nanocomposites. Based on the unique morphologies and phase domain structures of the immiscible matrix, we further investigated the multiple microwave dielectric relaxation processes and shed new light on the relation between relaxation peak position and the phase domain size distribution. Moreover, by integrating the CNTs interface localization control with the matrix co-continuous structure construction, we found that the interface promotes double percolation effect to achieve conductive percolation at low CNTs loading (~1.06 vol%). In this paper, we propose a novel four-stage data augmentation approach to ResNet-Conformer based acoustic modeling for sound event localization and detection (SELD). First, we explore two spatial augmentation techniques, namely audio channel swapping (ACS) and multi-channel simulation (MCS), to deal with data sparsity in SELD. ACS and MDS focus on augmenting the limited training data with expanding direction of arrival (DOA) representations such that the acoustic models trained with the augmented data are robust to localization variations of acoustic sources. Next, time-domain mixing (TDM) and time-frequency masking (TFM) are also investigated to deal with overlapping sound events and data diversity. Finally, ACS, MCS, TDM and TFM are combined in a step-by-step manner to form an effective four-stage data augmentation scheme. Tested on the Detection and Classification of Acoustic Scenes and Events (DCASE) 2020 data set, our proposed augmentation approach greatly improves the system performance, ranking our submitted system in the first place in the SELD task of the DCASE 2020 Challenge. Progress in integrated photonics enables combining several elementary functions on single substrates for realizing advanced functionnalized chips. We report a monolithic integrated quantum photonic realization on lithium niobate, where nonlinear optics and electro-optics properties have been harnessed simultaneously for generating heralded configurable, two-photon states. Taking advantage of a picosecond pump laser and telecom components, we demonstrate the production of various path-coded heralded two-photon states, showing 94\% raw visibility for Hong-Ou-Mandel interference. The versatility and performance of such a highly integrated photonic entanglement source enable exploring more complex quantum information processing protocols finding application in communication, metrology and processing tasks.

We investigate the impact of photorefractive effect on lithium niobate integrated quantum photonic circuits dedicated to continuous variable on-chip experiments. The circuit main building blocks, i.e. cavities, directional couplers, and periodically poled nonlinear waveguides are studied. This work demonstrates that, even when the effect of photorefractivity is weaker than spatial mode hopping, they might compromise the success of on-chip quantum photonics experiments. We describe in detail the characterization methods leading to the identification of this possible issue. We also study to which extent device heating represents a viable solution to counter this effect. We focus on photorefractive effect induced by light at 775 nm, in the context of the generation of non-classical light at 1550 nm telecom wavelength.

We study isolated core excitation of ultra cold ytterbium Rydberg atoms of high orbital quantum number. Measurements were performed on the $6s_{1/2} 40l \rightarrow 6p_{1/2} 40l $ transition with $l=5-9$. The extracted energy shifts and autoionization rates are in good agreement with a model based on independant electrons, taking into account interactions in a perturbative approach. We reveal a particularly long persistence of the autoionization rates with the orbital quantum number, explained by the strong coupling of the $6p_{1/2}nl$ autoionizing state with the $5d_{3/2}\epsilon l'$ continua compared to previously studied divalent atoms.

The fruitful association of quantum and integrated photonics holds the promise to produce, manipulate, and detect quantum states of light using compact and scalable systems. Integrating all the building-blocks necessary to produce high-quality photonic entanglement in the telecom wavelength range out of a single chip remains a major challenge, mainly due to the limited performance of on-chip light rejection filters. We report a stand-alone, telecom-compliant, device that integrates, on a single substrate, a nonlinear photon-pair generator and a passive pump rejection filter. Using standard channel-grid fiber demultiplexers, we demonstrate the first entanglement quantification of such a integrated circuit, showing the highest raw quantum interference visibility for energy-time entangled photons over two telecom-wavelength bands. Genuinely pure maximally entangled states can therefore be generated thanks to the high-level of noise suppression obtained with the pump filter. These results will certainly further promote the development of more advanced and scalable photonic-integrated quantum systems compliant with telecommunication standards., Comment: 11 pages, 6 figures
