The present work explores the facile synthesis of antipyrine-based triazole-linked organosilanes (3a–3f) by employing the click chemistry methodology; the structure of one of the organosilanes 3(e) was authenticated using the X-ray crystallographic technique. The synthesized antipyrine-tethered organosilanes were surveyed for the detection of metal ions using absorption spectroscopy, and it was observed to show sensitivity for Sn2+ ions. The sensing probe 3(e) showed significant selectivity for Sn2+ ions with a limit of detection value of 6.71 × 10−5 M and a stoichiometry of 1 : 1, as confirmed by the Job's plot method. Moreover, there was no significant interference observed with other tested cations, thereby making it a highly selective receptor for the recognition of Sn(II) ions. Furthermore, organosilane 3(e) was anchored onto the nanosurface of Fe-based magnetic silica, and the obtained nanocomposites were characterized using various analytical and spectroscopic techniques. Imperatively, the recognition studies of hybrid nanoparticles demonstrated enhanced detecting capability towards Sn(II) ions with an even lower value of limit of detection. Moreover, in this study, we examined the pharmacokinetic profiles of molecules using MOLINSPIRATION and ADMET toolkits for the sake of efficient drug discovery, which drove us to scrutinize these compounds for anti-oxidant activity and cytotoxicity. The total antioxidant activity (TAA) results indicate that organosilanes are excellent candidates for radical scavenging. TAA values for 3b, 3c, 3d, 3e and 3h are 3.34 ± 0.41, 2.98 ± 0.39, 3.55 ± 0.44, 3.09 ± 0.39 and 2.15 ± 0.41, respectively.

N-Heteroaryl organosilocanes-based chemosensors have been synthesized for the recognition of copper metal ions with high selectivity. The synthesized compounds (3a–3c) were well characterized by using various spectroscopic techniques such as IR, NMR, TGA, CHN analysis and mass spectroscopy. The detection limit for the chemo-sensing study was determined to be 0.0079 ppm with flourimeteric detection, which is below the WHO guidelines. The shuffling of electron density due to strong binding of the receptor with copper generated a coordination complex which was recognized in the absorption and emission spectrum. The prepared organosilocanes were also used in biological cell lines to estimate the total antioxidant capacity and cytotoxicity activity.

A new series of ester appended organosilatranes (5a–f) were developed for the specific and selective detection of Cu2+, Hg2+ and Pb2+ and were well characterized by various spectroscopic techniques. The newly synthesized silatranes (5a–f) were appraised for heavy metal ion binding properties using UV-vis and photoluminescent spectra. In addition the stern volmer plot confirmed the quenching phenomenon on addition of Cu2+, Hg2+ and Pb2+. Interestingly, the detection limit of 5a-f with Cu2+, 5b with Hg2+ and 5d with Pb2+ is 1.07–3.56 µM, 1.43 and 1.65 respectively. In a nutshell, the present article provides the cost-effective and promising platform for detection of these ions.

The present work aims at the synthesis of γ-propylsilatrane, possessing 2,5-dimercapto-1,3,4-thiadiazole (H2dmtd) moiety tethered to γ- position of propyl chain derived from γ-chloropropylsilatrane via nucleophilic substitution of chloro group with monoanionic Hdmtd−. The linkage of 2,5-dimercapto-1,3,4-thiadiazole with γ-methylene carbon of propyl chain through N atom was confirmed from spectroscopic studies (1H and 13C NMR) elemental analyses, mass spectrometry and thermogravimetric analyses. UV-Vis spectroscopy, coupled with cyclic voltammetry was used to investigate the receptor action of the silatrane. The successful recognition ability of the synthesized molecule towards acetate, thioaceate and lead ions can be attributed to the presence of N-H and C=S system.

Tryptophan is an amino acid required by all life forms for protein synthesis and other important metabolic functions. It is metabolized in the body using the kynurenine pathway which involves the enzyme indoleamine 2,3 dioxygenase (IDO) and its transport is regulated through the L-type amino acid transporters (LAT 1). IDO and LAT 1 are found to be overexpressed in many cancers i.e., ovarian, lung colorectal etc. In this study we have used this specific interaction as the basis for designing diagnostic agent based on iron oxide nanoparticles which can specifically target the IDO/LAT 1 over expressing tumors. We have conjugated tryptophan to the surface of super-paramagnetic nanoparticles chemically using 3-aminopropyltrimethoxysilane as a linker. The synthesized tryptophan conjugated magnetic nano-conjugate has been characterized using FTIR, UV-Vis, TEM for its shape size, charge and NMR and Mass for conjugation. The magnetization studies show decrease in the magnetic behavior after conjugation however the desired super-paramagnetic property is still retained as shown by the signature sigmoidal B-H curve. The nano-conjugate shows minimal cytotoxicity over 24 h as shown by the SRB assay in two cell lines A-549, MCF-7. Using 99mTc labeling the biodistribution and the blood kinetics of the magnetic nano-conjugate was evaluated. The study highlights the suitability of the designed magnetic Nano bioconjugate as a potential bimodal diagnostic agent.

A series of ferrocene appended chalcone allied triazole coupled organosilatranes (FCTSa 7-FCTSa 12) were synthesised with the aim of amalgamating the pharmacological action of the constituting moieties into a single molecular scaffold. All the synthesised silatranes were well characterized by various spectroscopic techniques like IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR and elemental analysis. Organosilatranes were then evaluated for their biological alacrity against bacterial and fungal strains compared with the standard drugs Rifampicin and Amphotericin B respectively. The ferrocene conjugates were found to be only moderately effective against the tested microbes. However, the organosilatranes conceded excellent efficacy against parasite G. lamblia with FCTSa 11 arraying the leading results. On the other hand against another parasite T. vaginalis, FCTSa 8 has emerged as an outstanding composite. Further, Total Antioxidant Assay (TAA) with 2,2'-azino-bis-3-(ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulphonic acid) revealed FCTSa 10 to be the best claimant for radical scavenging activity. Along these lines, introducing some different substituents in the synthesised hybrids may act as a useful strategy for increasing the biological profile of the drugs.

Present report describes the “turn-on” absorbance response of a molecular assembly o-Cresolphthalein appended 1,4-disubstituted 1,2,3-triazole (o-CPT) on complexation with Pb(II) ions. Copper (I) catalyzed alkyne-azide cycloaddition reaction, a highly versatile and stereoselective approach to stitch diverse structural units has been employed to generate the designed receptor that has been successfully characterized through IR, NMR (1H, 13C) and mass spectroscopic techniques. UV-Visible absorption spectral behavior of o-CPT was examined with a series of metal ions (Mn (II), Ce (III), Hg (II), Ni (II), Pb (II), Zn (II), Fe (II), Cr (III), Co (II) and Na (I)) in acetonitrile-water (4:1, v/v) solution and the results obtained have marked out the sensitivity of the designed probe exclusively towards Pb(II) ions with a measured detection limit of 13 µM at 2:1 stoichiometry of o-CPT:Pb(II) complex.

Herein, we have synthesized antipyrine-derived triazole-linked bis-organosilane (B-Sil) and their hybrid silica nanoparticles (HSNPs) for the colorimetric detection of Fe3+ ions. FT-IR, 1H, 13C NMR, and X-Ray crystallography have been used to characterize the compounds. The hybrid silica nanoparticles have been also characterized by various techniques such as FT-IR, XRD, EDX, FESEM, and TGA. The sensor formed a host-guest complex in 1:1 stoichiometry with Fe3+ ions. The synthesized hybrid silica nanoparticles show a better detection limit toward Fe3+ ions i.e. 0.9 × 10−7 M. The article also examines the pharmacokinetic profiles of the alkyne (B-Alk) using MOLINSPIRATION and ADMET toolkits for effective drug discovery.

In the rapidly growing COVID-19 pandemic, designing of new drugs and evaluating their inhibitory action against main targets of corona virus could be an effective strategy to accelerate the drug discovery process and their efficacy towards corona virus disease. Herein, we design new bis-triazolyl probe for an investigation of inhibitory activity towards COVID-19 main protease by Molecular docking approach. The formulated compound has been thoroughly characterized by elemental analysis, NMR (1H and 13C) and complete structure elucidation was achieved via X-ray crystallography. Docking study reveals that newly synthesized compound confers good inhibitory response to COVID-19 main protease as supported by calculated docking score and binding energy. Strong hydrogen bonding and hydrophobic interactions of the newly synthesized compound with several important amino acids of the main protease also helps to explain the potency of the compound to inhibit the main protease. We hope that the present study would help the researcher in the field of Medicinal chemistry and to develop potential drug against the novel corona virus.

A single step Cu (I) assisted click silylation reaction had been used for the synthesis of novel Schiff based 1,2,3-triazole bridged silatrane (SBTBS)-scaffolds (5a-5f) using polyfunctionalised Schiff based 1,2,3-triazole bridged organotriethoxysilanes (SBTBOTS) (4a-4f) as precursors. These compounds were synthesized in excellent yields using an economical, simple and biocompatible synthetic procedure and their structures were characterized by various spectroscopy methods such as IR, NMR (1H and 13C) and elemental analysis. The presence of different pharmacologically active segments into a single triazole unit can result into impressive achievement in their bioactivity. So, antibacterial studies of the silatranes (5a-5f) were also carried out and it was observed that all the compounds showed potential antibacterial activity. The results also indicate that activity of compound 5f is even comparable to the standard drug, cefepime.

This article features the first synthesis of coumarin based triazole linked organosilatranes (3–5) derived from terminal alkyne (1) via click methodology. The coumarin tethered organosilatranyl moiety was anchored on magnetic silica surface and was well characterized by numerous spectroscopic and analytical techniques. The resultant hybrid nanoparticles have been characterized in detail by FTIR, UV–vis spectroscopy, Photoluminiscence (P.L), SEM, TEM, XRD, EDX and TGA. The silatranes (3–5) were then assessed for their metal ion binding properties using absorption and emission spectra. It was observed that the synthesized compounds showed significant selectivity for Hg (II). In addition, the interacting ability of coumarin based derivatives was investigated at different pH values and the pH 9 was considered to be the most favorable pH for fluorometric analysis. Importantly, the hybrid nanoparticles possessed enhanced sensorial ability towards Hg2+ ion and these findings were affirmed using stern volmer equation. In addition, the complexation mode of silatrane (3) with Hg2+ ion was also elucidated by computational analysis using DFT study.

This work reports the synthesis and structural characterization of a new adenine based organosilicon nucleobase using an efficient and biocompatible Click approach. Synthetic procedure included the preparation of a new N-acetylinic linked propyl silatrane 3 whose structure was confirmed through Single crystal X-ray crystallography. The designed silatrane L is found to be highly selective and sensitive for detection of Cu2+ with a color change from colourless to yellowish orange. The stoichiometry ratio of L + Cu2+ was obtained 1:1 by Job’s Plot. The binding of copper ions to the chemosensor was studied over wide pH range and the results demonstrated that the sensor worked well in the physiological range 6–9. Furthermore, the sensing of Cu2+ was found to be reversible upon addition of EDTA. These results widen the scope of adenine based derivatives in the field of colorimetric probes. The newly synthesized silatrane 3 and the receptor L were successfully characterized by various spectroscopic techniques [IR, NMR (1H, 13C) and Mass] and elemental analysis.

The present investigation reports the stimulating effects of different substituted alkyl silatranes (3a-3e) on the early seedling growth of wheat (Triticum aestivum) and maize (Zea mays). Seeds of these plants were exposed to six different concentrations (0, 10, 50, 100, 200 and 500 µmol L-1 ). The results revealed that different substitutions (3a-3e) had different effects on root and shoot elongation. Silatranes (3a-3e) were synthesized employing microwave irradiation by a solvent-mediated transesterification reaction, thereby reducing reaction times from several hours under conventional reflux conditions to 15 min under microwave irradiation.; Results: It was of interest that the effect of these silatranes did not show a dose-dependent relationship but an optimum concentration, which was 100 µmol L-1 for maize and 200 µmol L-1 for wheat. γ-Aminopropyl silatranes (3b and 3e) gave the best results in maize, whereas γ-chloropropyl silatrane (3a) was most efficient for wheat at these optimum concentrations.; Conclusion: All the synthesized silatranes were effective in promoting root and shoot growth of wheat and maize. Furthermore, an efficient green microwave methodology was successful for the synthesis of silatranes. Light driven reactions are perpetual tools for environment sustainability. As an external trigger, most of the photon driven reactions are stereoselective, precise, efficient and offer temporal control for biomolecules. The photoinduced reactions are key to unique molecular transformations that include click and unclick reactions. Since 2003, there has been an exponential rise research papers citing light driven reactions. This review considers the light promoted development and modification of reactions that fall under the criteria of ‘Click’ series of transformations. The review lays emphasis on the light induced biochemical, carbohydrate modification, surface labelling, bioconjugation, polymer modification, dendrimer synthesis, [4 + 2] and [2 + 2] reaction, thiol–ene/yne coupling, Cu assisted cycloaddition, strain-promoted azide alkyne cycloaddition (SPAAC), nitro photoclick and photounclick reactions published in last one and half decade. This series of photoclick reactions use short wavelength radiations and are instant, clean, and near to perfect for transforming reactants to the desirable products.

The synthesis of different Schiff base substituted silatranes (1c–4c) was carried out from the corresponding organotrimethoxysilanes (OTMS) (1b–4b) under anhydrous atmospheric conditions. The title compounds were scanned by spectroscopic analytical studies like NMR (1H, 13C) and IR which confirm their formation. The fluorescence studies performed indicate that two of the silatranes (1c and 4c) can act as ‘dual–ion fluorescent sensors’ selectively for Mn2+ and Fe3+ cations. The structural arrangement of these silatranes allowed the metals to bind and form five/six membered stable ring which is not possible in non-active silatranes (2c and 3c). Antibacterial studies of silatranes were also performed which produced much better results than already reported cefepime.

A triazole tethered chemo sensor molecules with the capability of sensing cations have been synthesized by coupling two sensor based alkynyl indole schiff base unit to azide. The hybrid networks were able to donate electron via azomethine linkage, traizole ring and indole motif to bind copper and nickel effectively. Such indole based hybrids would have potential applications in biological systems. Indole traizoles (In-Tz) were synthesized under microwave irradiation with auto generated pressure (at 60 °C) and characterized by 1H NMR, 13C NMR, Mass and FTIR spectroscopy, thin-layer chromatography (TLC) and elemental analyses. The fabricated sensor exhibited higher sensitivity, large-dynamic concentration ranges and long term stability towards In-Tz conjugated copper and nickel complex for selective Cu2+and Ni2+sensor. The calibration plot is linear (r2: 0.9895, r2: 0.9808) over the large Cu2+ ions and Ni2+concentration ranges (1.0 µM). This novel effort has initiated a well-organize way of efficient cationic sensor improvement with triazole for heavy metallic pollutants in environmental and health-care fields in large scales.

The review essentially highlights the chronological development in organosilicon chemistry. The versatile application of silicon in organic, coordination, agricultural and computational chemistry has expanded the horizons beyond its capabilities. Silicon prefers coordination number of four but its stability increases with rise in coordination by chelate rings or conjugated systems. The hyper coordinate silicon complexes, also known as silatranes, have different synthetic pathways, stability and application. Moreover, the review provides an insight into the reaction methodology involving reactive silicon centres.

In this article, we proposed the synthesis of chalcone derived organosilanes based on polycyclic aromatic compounds. All the synthesized compounds were well categorized using numerous spectroscopic techniques such as IR, NMR (1H and 13C) and mass spectroscopy. Additionally, the compound is used for the recognition study towards the various metal ions which shows the great affinity towards Sn2+ ion. Organosilane was tie up to the nano surface of Fe-based magnetic silica, and various analytical and spectroscopic techniques were used to classify the obtained nanocomposites. Essentially, hybrid nanoparticles identification experiments illustrated the improved detection capabilities for Sn (II) ions with an even lower detection limit value. Furthermore, the synthesized orgaosilanes were investigated for their antioxidant activity by the decolouration of ABTS .+. In addition to the LanL2DZ base package, quantum mechanical calculations were carried out to explain the geometry and stability of the complex using DFT at B3LYP.

The present article incorporates synthesis, photophysical and complexation studies of new series of pyridine tethered Organosilicon derivatives tailored via click methodology. The synthesized compounds were well characterized by using IR, NMR (1H and 13C) spectroscopy and Mass spectroscopy. Furthermore, the selective binding of Organosilane with Hg2+ ions was substantiated by UV–Vis’s absorption and fluorescence spectra analysis when examined for the recognizable ability towards numerous transition metal ions. Moreover, a convention for immobilizing Organosilane (5b) over the surface of magnetic silica nanoparticles has also been discussed. The resulting organic–inorganic hybrid nanoparticles (H-NPs) were distinguished by various physicochemical and analytical techniques and these nanocomposites also showed great fondness towards Hg2+ ions with LOD value of 4.2 × 10−7 M whereas organosilane shows a value of 6.3 × 10−6 M. Quantum mechanical calculations were performed for the justification of geometry and stability of the complex using DFT at B3LYP in addition with LanL2DZ basis set. Pharmacokinetic investigation of the prepared compounds was additionally examined utilizing MOLINSPIRATION and ADMET programming which gave promising outcome.

The synthesis of 1,2,3-triazole merged 9H–carbazole derivative is being reported with excellent yield but drastic reduction in the reaction time. The 1,2,3-triazole linker has been synthesized under thermal conditions within 20 min and yield of more than 90%, using Cu(I) as catalyst. Using UV–Vis spectral technique, the alkyne product displayed excellent detection capability towards Hg(II) and Mn(II) ions in methanol with the detection limit as low as 20 µM and 10 µM, respectively, whereas the triazolyl product can efficiently sense Cu(II) ions.

This article presents the design, synthesis and characterization of a series of new acetylenic bis-chalcones (5a-5c) and chalcone functionalized 1,2,3-triazole allied bis-organosilanes (6a-6c) using aldol condensation followed by the Cu(I) catalyzed click strategy. The absorption studies of the designed compounds 5a and 6a were examined towards various metal ions that exhibit their high selectivity and sensitivity towards the recognition of Sn2+ and Hg2+ ions. The sensors show reversible nature upon the addition of disodium salt of ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid. Furthermore, the obtained detection limit with sensors 5a and 6a by plotting calibration curve was 0.34 µM and 0.64 µM for Sn2+ ion and 0.31 µM and 0.15 µM for Hg2+ ion respectively. The association constant value calculated for chemosensors 5a and 6a using the Benesi and Hildebrand plot method was 0.69 × 105 M−1 and 0.18 × 105 M−1 towards Sn2+ ion and 0.67 × 106 M−1 and 0.54 × 106 M−1 towards Hg2+ ion respectively. Moreover, the synthesized compounds 5a and 6a were investigated for their biological application by evaluating their cytotoxicity and antioxidant activity.

In the present article, we have reported the synthesis of chemosensor based on pyrene functionalized triazole linked organosilane by employing the condensation and 1, 3 dipolar cycloaddition reaction. This chemosensor showed its selectivity and sensitivity towards Ce3+ ions in comparison to other metal cations. The prepared receptor and its complex with selective cation, Ce3+ ions were characterized using spectroscopic techniques such as CHN analysis, FT-IR, theoretical studies, 1H and 13C NMR and mass spectroscopy. The recognition studies were done in methanol: water (7.5:2.5) solvent system. The obtained limit of detection for the present probe was as low as 2.00 ppm and 1:1 stoichiometry of complex formation between Ce3+ ions and organosilane was suggested by B-H graph and Job's plot.

In the current study, five isatin hydrazone schiff base linked acetylinic scaffolds have been synthesized via condensation reaction of isatin hydrazone with aldehydic groups. In order to identify the structure characteristics of the prepared hydrazone derivatives, IR, 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopy, elemental analysis and X- ray crystallography were carried out. The antibacterial and antifungal activity of the derivatives against six bacterial strains (S. aureus, S. Pyogenes, E.coli, V. cholera, L. monocytogens and H.influenza) and seven fungal strains (C. glabrata,C. parapsilosis, C. krusei, C. albicans, C. tropicalis, C. keyfer, and C. neoformans) have been evaluated. All the compounds showed potent antibacterial activity with IC50 ≈ 7.81 µM against H. influenza while the activity against fungal strains was less. Compounds a and c also had IC50 ≈ 7.81 µM against S. Pyogens. Furthermore, the results of total antioxidant activity of hydrazone derivatives, expressed in terms of the ascorbic acid (mM) equivalents per mg of sample, indicates their superior bioactivity. These studies suggested that the istain hydrazone functionalized acetylenic derivatives could be an ideal biomaterial for antibacterial, antifungal and antioxidant applications. Besides this, these derivatives were transformed into isatin hydrazone appended 1,2,3 triazole based organotriethoxysilanes and their reaction conditions were optimised

The present manuscript describes the synthesis of Schiff base-chalcone functionalized bis(1,2,3-triazolyl-γ-propyltriethoxysilanes) 5(a-c) by utilizing highly efficient “Click Silylation” strategy and their structural characterizations by multiple spectroscopic techniques like IR, NMR (1H and 13C), TGA and mass spectroscopy (ESI-QTOF). The absorption study of the synthesized chemosensors 4a and 5a revealed their high selectivity towards the colorimetric detection of Fe3+ ions without any interference from different metal ions. The sensors also showed reversible behaviour upon the addition of EDTA. Furthermore, the limit of detection and association constant values were calculated for both the chemosensors by plotting the linear calibration curve and BH-plot respectively. The detection limit obtained with sensor 5a for Fe3+ ions was 0.1874 × 10−6 M which is below the WHO and European legislation guidelines which suggest that the sensor 5a may be used for industrial and biological purposes.

The synthesis of organo-functionalized triethoxysilanes (OTES) has many recognized pathways; however, no study on their preparation via Knoevenagel condensation has been reported. The present work involves the synthesis of organo-functionalized triethoxysilanes using this unused green condensation route followed by the copper(I) catalyzed click silylation reaction. The reaction proceeded quickly without using any catalyst and can be applied for a wide range of derivatives of active methylene containing compounds. The newly synthesized OTES were obtained in good yields and were structurally characterized using various spectroscopic techniques. The methodology is highly desirable because it will blend two highly potent moieties i.e. the active methylenes and 1,2,3-triazole bridged triethoxysilanes, which can add to their individual potential and can be used for applications in supramolecular chemistry.

This report demonstrates the mimicking of an electronic circuit diagram towards Ce(III) ion sensing response supported by molecular keypads. The probe naphthyl based triazole linked silatrane (NTS) was efficiently synthesized using a series of microwave mediated reactions. The luminescent sensor NTS was explored for the ion sensing response towards Ce(III) ions using DMSO and DMSO : H2O 4 : 1 (v/v) as solvent media, respectively. The role of water in Ce(III) ion sensing was detected as ‘turn-off’ response that contradicts the ‘turn-on’ with DMSO. Further, the sensing of NO3− ions by NTS–Ce(III) ensemble was associated with blue shift on absorption maxima. These mimicking response studies were sketched as circuit diagrams assisted by molecular keypad behaviour as IMPLICATION output logic gate.

Owing to their easy approachability and high degree of structural and functional diversity, many multicomponent reactions such as 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition have been a rich source of conjugated π-systems, functionalised chromophores and active molecules. Despite their high potential for investigation and practical benefits, few products have thus far been scrutinized for their metal sensing abilities. In the present study, indolin-2-one chalcones bearing siloxy molecular systems were synthesized by a [2+3] cycloaddition-based reaction sequence. A designed chemosensor exhibited an optical (absorption spectra) response toward Cu2+ ions in an acetonitrile solution. Different aspects of the sensing phenomena such as selectivity and association constants were studied in detail using UV-vis spectroscopy. The calibration plot was linear (R2 = 0.9966) over a large range of Cu2+ ion concentrations (10 μM). This novel effort has initiated a well-organized method for the efficient improvement of cation sensors with triazole for detecting heavy metal pollutants in environmental and healthcare fields on a large scale.

The present article describes the synthesis of Schiff base-acetylene functionalized organosilatranes (6a–6e) and their characterization by 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopy and ESI-QTOF mass spectrometry. The UV–visible study of the organosilatrane 6a unveiled their high selectivity towards the recognition of Zn2+ and Co2+ ions without exhibiting any significant interference from other competitive metal ions. The calculated value of association constant with 6a for Zn2+ and Co2+ ions was 0.11 × 106 M−1 and 0.24 × 106 M−1 and the limit of detection was 0.28 × 10−6 M and 0.82 × 10−6 M respectively. Furthermore, DFT calculations were performed to get an insight into the interacting behaviour of sensor 6a towards Zn2+ and Co2+ ions.

This article embodies the synthesis, photophysical and complexation properties of a multifarious sensory probe based on ‘one-pot thioesterification’ of an established acid-base indicator viz. methyl red (MR) with 3-mercaptopropylsilatrane (MPS). The formulated silatrane (MR-OS) has been thoroughly characterized by elemental analysis; FTIR, UV–vis and NMR (1H and 13C) spectroscopy; and mass spectrometry. The spectral properties in different solvents were studied by UV–vis spectroscopy and highlighted with the Kamlet-Taft approach. The skeleton methyl red endowed inevitable acid sensing ability in the molecule, while an intriguing response to basic pH conditions has also been revealed. Furthermore, when screened for the sensorial aptitude towards various transition metal ions, colorimetric as well as UV–vis absorption analysis substantiate the selective binding with Hg2+. A protocol was also developed for the immobilization of MR-OS onto the surface of magnetic silica nanoparticles, whose features are the specific objectives of the present work. The resultant organic-inorganic hybrid nanoparticles (H-NPs) have been characterized by physicochemical techniques such as FT-IR, XRD, TEM, FE-SEM, EDX and TGA. The tethering of MR-OS with magnetic silica nanoparticles not only preserves the inherent fondness for both pH and Hg2+ ion but also renders a facile magnetic recovery which altogether make them apposite adsorbents for removal of Hg2+ as sketched by Langmuir adsorption isotherm.

This article describes an efficient synthetic approach to design ferrocene tailed chalcone appended triazole encapped organosilanes (7-12) from acetylinic ferrocene precursors (1-6). The synthesized compounds were well characterized by general spectroscopic techniques. The framed ligands were then evaluated for their ion sensing properties and were found to display significant perturbation in their absorption and emission behaviour upon addition of Cu2+ ions. Their sensing ability is highly reversible on addition of ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) and hence can be employed as potential Cu(II) sensing materials. In addition, the presence of ferrocene functionality overtures an electro active unit generating a multiple signalling sensor that also offers naked eye detection of Cu(II) ions with analytical detection limit of as low as 10 μM. Above all, the designed chemosensor exhibits tolerance against other metal ions which enables the Cu2+ ion detection even in a complex matrix. Complexation behaviour of one of the silanes, FCTS 12 was also deliberated by computational analysis following DFT approach.

The present work proposes a new copper (II) ensnared organic-inorganic nano-hybrid (Cu·Am-sil@SiO2) that demonstrates an unparalleled catalytic efficiency for the reduction of a series of aromatic nitro compounds as well as diverse organic dyes. The synthesis of the immobilized nanoscopic material has been achieved facilely by the recently developed ‘atrane’ route for which a multifarious ligand in the form of dipicolinamide tethered bis-silatrane framework was selected that served as a scaffold for copper ions. The nanomaterial has been courteously characterized by FT-IR, XRD, TG, SEM, TEM, EDX and ED-XRF techniques. The reduction experiments catalyzed by the fabricated heterogeneous system have led to an immensely chemo-selective conversion of nitroarenes to the corresponding aniline derivatives and the same protocol is found to be pertinent for the reductive degradation of two different sorts of organic dyes. Good agreement with reduction efficiency is found by utilizing the recovered catalyst for a sequence of seven repeated cycles, underlining the archetype validity of the catalyst. Conspicuously, the present system can be envisaged as an outcome of the paradigm shift in chemical constructions owing to the implications of eco-friendly and green reaction conditions along with recovery and reusability laurels.

The positional isomeric units of substituted chalcones were synthesized using [CuBr(PPh3)3] as source of catalyst. The alkynes (1a–9a) were fabricated with azides resulting into triazole moiety containing triethoxysilane substituents (1b–9b) which were further converted into silatranes 1c–9c. The synthesized compounds were confirmed by spectroscopic analytical studies like NMR (1H, 13C), IR, mass recognition studies confirm the silatrane product formation.

The highly substituted 1,2,4-trisubtituted imidazole was regioselectively synthesized via base mediated domino reaction of amidine scaffold with phenacyl bromide followed by in situ N-alkylation of imidazole. The reaction conditions were optimized in order to access three phenomenon (neutralization, condensation, and N-alkylation) in a single pot. A mechanism for the formation of N–H imidazole and its subsequent N-alkylation is depicted by isolation of reaction of intermediates. Electron donating group facilitate N-alkylation, whereas no N-alkylation was observed in the presence of electron withdrawing (NO2) group. The synthesized compounds and reaction intermediate were characterized using NMR, FTIR, and HRMS. Exact orientation of various aromatic rings in regioselective N-alkylated product was confirmed using single crystal X-ray analysis.

The review lays emphasis on the significance of 1,2,3-triazoles synthesized via CuAAC reaction having potential to act as anti-microbial, anti-cancer, anti-viral, anti-inflammatory, anti-tuberculosis, anti-diabetic, and anti-Alzheimer drugs. The importance of click chemistry is due to its ‘quicker’ methodology that has the capability to create complex and efficient drugs with high yield and purity from simple and cheap starting materials. The activity of different triazolyl compounds was compiled considering MIC, IC50, and EC50 values against different species of microbes. In addition to this, the anti-oxidant property of triazolyl compounds have also been reviewed and discussed.

This review emphasizes on the efficacy of various metals in their diverse oxidation states to efficiently sew terminal alkyne to azide to give triazole ring. The emergence of Alkyne-Azide Cycloaddition reaction as one of the finest tools for the tailoring of two unsaturated fragments has equipped researchers with a methodology to weave in the alkyne-azide groups into either 1,2,3- or 1,2,4-traizole. The use of metal catalysts have efficiency comparative to CuAAC but comes at an expensive cost. The use of different metals involving the mechanistic cycles, reusability studies, solvent system/reacting conditions have been discussed in the review.

Trace lead (II) ions detection platform by adjoining an indole group, bis-triazole molecules and a silatranyl motif, has been proposed in this article. The receptor has been prepared by employing click chemistry methodology and the hybrid network was successfully identified by elemental analysis, IR and NMR (1H, 13C) spectroscopy. Absorption spectra analysis marked that the sensor exhibit an exclusively fastidious response to Pb2+ ions with a measured detection limit of 0.032µM at 1:1 stiochiometry. Further, computational studies have been carried out to get an insight into their structure and properties.

An organic moiety exhibit specific behavior in electronic absorption spectra while accommodating various solvents or metal ions and that specificity depends on particular guest solvent molecules or metal ions. Herein, we report about the photophysical properties of newly synthesized Propargyl-functionalized anthracene based Schiff bases (PASB). The formulated compounds have been thoroughly characterized by elemental analysis, FT-IR, NMR (1H and 13C) and UV-Vis spectroscopy, emphasized with Kamlet-Taft approach to explain the solvatochromic behavior of the synthesized compounds. PASBs were screened for the sensorial aptitude towards various metal ions which were found to act as an excellent UV-Vis probe for selective detection of Fe3+ ion with LOD 1.60 × 10−8M. Additionally, coordination behavior of ligand with Fe3+ ion was examined through the change in magnetic property of Fe3+ ions by VSM (vibrating sample magnetism) study. Moreover, complete structure elucidation of compound 4b was achieved via X-ray crystallography. The binding sites of sensor conjugate 4b-Fe3+ are well supported by FT-IR spectroscopy and computational analysis following DFT approach. The reported contribution focused on the factors determining the ability of propargyl appended Schiff base to present structure, mental picture of solvatochromism and metal ion sensitivity.
