Abstract

The paper reports on the first observation of doubly-magic Nickel-48 in an experimental at the SISSI/LISE3 facility of GANIL. Four Nickel-48 isotopes were identified. In addition, roughly 100 Nickel-49, 50 Iron-45, and 290 Chromium-42 isotopes were observed. Abstract

The very proton-rich 71Kr isotope was produced through the in-flight fragmentation of 78Kr on a beryllium target at RIKEN ¿ Nishina Center in order to study its ß-decay properties. A stack of double-sided silicon strip detectors, called WAS3ABi, was used as the decay station, where the detection of ion implants, ß-decays and ß-delayed protons took place. Beta-delayed ¿-rays were measured using a system of 84 HPGe detectors, called EURICA, surrounding the decay station. The main goal of the present study was the precise measurement of the half-life of 71Kr, as in the literature there is an almost 10 ¿ difference between the most precise independent results. Implant¿ß time correlations, implant¿proton time correlations and implant¿ß¿¿ time correlations were all used to derive the half-life value, followed by a thorough investigation of systematic uncertainties for each method. As these values were found to be consistent, the weighted average t1/2 = 94.40+19ms is reported as a new half-life value in this work. Furthermore a total of 26 previously unreported ¿ following the ß-decay of 71Kr were also identified in the analysis.

Abstract

Proton-emission branches of the 10+ isomer in the Tz=−1 nucleus $^{54}$Ni have been imaged with the active target and time projection chamber (ACTAR TPC) in an experiment conducted at the Grand Accélérateur National d'Ions Lourds (GANIL). The completed decay scheme allows derivation of the reduced transition strengths, B(E2;10+→8+) and B(E4;10+→6+), for the two competing γ-ray transitions. By means of a comparison with their well-known ‘mirror transitions’ in Tz=+1 $^{54}$Fe, and aided by a variety of shell-model calculations in the fp model space, effective charges for E4 transitions near N=Z $^{56}$Ni can be deduced: επ≈1.40 and εν≈0.30. Mirror-energy differences are explored with various shell-model interactions and isospin-symmetry breaking terms.

Abstract

The β-decay of the even-even nucleus $^{70}$Kr with Z=N+2, has been investigated at the Radioactive Ion Beam Factory (RIBF) of the RIKEN Nishina Center using the BigRIPS fragment separator, the ZeroDegree Spectrometer, the WAS3ABI implantation station and the EURICA HPGe cluster array. Fifteen γ-rays associated with the β-decay of $^{70}$Kr into $^{70}$Br have been identified for the first time, defining ten populated states below Eexc=3300 keV. The half-life of $^{70}$Kr was derived with increased precision and found to be t1/2=45.19±0.14 ms. The β-delayed proton emission probability has also been determined as εp=0.545(23)%. An increase in the β-strength to the yrast 1$^{+}$ state in comparison with the heaviest Z=N+2 system studied so far ($^{62}$Ge decay) is observed that may indicate increased np correlations in the T=0 channel. The β-decay strength deduced from the results is interpreted in terms of the proton-neutron quasiparticle random-phase approximation (pnQRPA) and also with a schematic model that includes isoscalar and isovector pairing in addition to quadrupole deformation. The application of this last model indicates an approximate realization of pseudo-SU(4) symmetry in this system.

The beta-decay of the even-even nucleus Kr-70 with Z=N+2, has been investigated at the Radioactive Ion Beam Factory (RIBF) of the RIKEN Nishina Center using the BigRIPS fragment separator, the ZeroDegree Spectrometer, the WAS3ABI implantation station and the EURICA HPGe cluster array. Fifteen gamma-rays associated with the beta-decay of( 70)Kr into Br-70 have been identified for the first time, defining ten populated states below E-exc=3300 keV. The half-life of Kr-70 was derived with increased precision and found to be t(1/2)=45.19 +/- 0.14 ms. The beta-delayed proton emission probability has also been determined as epsilon(p)=0.545(23)%. An increase in the beta-strength to the yrast 1(+) state in comparison with the heaviest Z=N+2 system studied so far (Ge-62 decay) is observed that may indicate increased np correlations in the T=0 channel. The beta-decay strength deduced from the results is interpreted in terms of the proton-neutron quasiparticle random-phase approximation (pnQRPA) and also with a schematic model that includes isoscalar and isovector pairing in addition to quadrupole deformation. Abstract

We report here the results of a study of the $\beta$ decay of the proton-rich Ge isotopes, $^{60}$Ge and $^{62}$Ge, produced in an experiment at the RIKEN Nishina Center. We have improved our knowledge of the half-lives of $^{62}$Ge (73.5(1) ms), $^{60}$Ge (25.0(3) ms) and its daughter nucleus, $^{60}$Ga (69.4(2) ms). We measured individual $\beta$-delayed proton and $\gamma$ emissions and their related branching ratios. Decay schemes and absolute Fermi and Gamow-Teller transition strengths have been determined. The mass excesses of the nuclei under study have been deduced. A total $\beta$-delayed proton-emission branching ratio of 67(3)% has been obtained for $^{60}$Ge. New information has been obtained on the energy levels populated in $^{60}$Ga and on the 1/2$^-$ excited state in the $\beta p$ daughter $^{59}$Zn. We extracted a ground state to ground state feeding of 85.3(3)% for the decay of $^{62}$Ge. Eight new $\gamma$ lines have been added to the de-excitation of levels populated in the $^{62}$Ga daughter., Comment: 13 pages, 12 figures, 5 tables. Physical Review C 103, 014324 (2021)

Abstract

Abstract

We report on new γ-ray spectroscopy results from β decays of In99 and Sn101. 30 new γ rays were observed following the β decay of In99, and inconsistencies in the literature with respect to the γ rays following the β decay of Sn101 were addressed with two confirmed cases and two new transitions. The experimental γ-ray energies, intensities, and coincidence relationships are discussed with shell model calculations, where theoretical β-decay branching ratios from the parent nuclei and γ-ray cascades of excited states from the daughter nuclei were combined to generate hypothetical βγ spectra and βγγ coincidence matrices. The most intense β-delayed γ-ray branches in both Cd99 and In101 were well reproduced with this approach, and several γ rays were assigned to new excited states based on their good agreement with shell model predictions.

Abstract

Beta-decay of the very neutron-deficient Kr isotope, Kr-70, was studied at RIKEN-RIBF using the EURICA cluster array. The experiment significantly increased our knowledge of the beta-decay of this isotope. Namely, 16 new gamma-ray transitions were identified and the half-life was derived from time correlations of the beta particles (t(1/2)(i beta) = (44.99 +/- 0.16) ms) and from the decay curves of the observed gamma-ray transitions (t(1/2)(i beta gamma) = (45.16 +/- 0.71) ms), respectively.

Abstract

We report on the observation of Kr-67 that has been produced in an experiment performed at the RIKEN/BigRIPS facility. The two-proton decay of Kr-67 has been evidenced and this nucleus is thus the fourth observed long lived ground-state two-proton emitter, after Fe-45, Ni-48 and Zn-54. In addition, the decay of several isotopes in the mass region has been investigated. While for previous cases of two-proton radioactivity, the theoretical models could reproduce the measured data, this is not the case anymore for Kr-67. Two interpretations have been proposed to explain this discrepancy: a transition between real two-proton and sequential decay or the influence of deformation. These hypotheses will be tested in future experiments by measuring the angular and energy correlations of the emitted protons.

Abstract

We report on new gamma-ray spectroscopy results from beta decays of In-99 and Sn-101. 30 new gamma rays were observed following the beta decay of In-99, and inconsistencies in the literature with respect to the gamma rays following the beta decay of Sn-101 were addressed with two confirmed cases and two new transitions. The experimental gamma-ray energies, intensities, and coincidence relationships are discussed with shell model calculations, where theoretical beta-decay branching ratios from the parent nuclei and gamma-ray cascades of excited states from the daughter nuclei were combined to generate hypothetical beta gamma spectra and beta gamma gamma coincidence matrices. The most intense beta-delayed gamma-ray branches in both Cd-99 and In-101 were well reproduced with this approach, and several gamma rays were assigned to new excited states based on their good agreement with shell model predictions.
