This study seeks to relate the theory to the company's practices, aiming to resolve a specific problem presented by a Portuguese laundry and dyeing company as an element of a global supply chain: “What activities described in a marketing plan must be implemented for the company to achieve its goals?". To respond to this question, this work adopted the “Case Study” as an applied research method, considered as the most appropriate for the B2B domain with multi-method, qualitative and quantitative approaches. Following the Pragmatism paradigm, several techniques and instruments were used for collecting primary data (like observation, inquiry and interview) and secondary data (such as studies, articles, books, the internet, among others) with diverse types of analysis (documentary, content, statistics). According to its design, the “Case Study” of this investigation is exploratory, with new theories being presented and tested and not just replicating existing ones. Throughout this study, all steps of a B2B Marketing Plan are covered consecutive, using a congruent, diversified and current theoretical framework, which served as a support for a deep analysis of the external and internal situation, the definition of a strategy and the construction of a marketing program, with specific activities in each one of the 7 variables of the marketing mix, in accordance to the company's Integrated Management System. This B2B Marketing Plan maintains a strong practical orientation and is a model that can be systematically replicated in the company and its counterparts and seeks to contribute to the theory by adapting concepts and models that are tested, in an innovative way, such as the segmentation process and the positioning process. Ultimately, it highlights its contributions to practice and theory, as well as the study limitations, providing clues for subsequent investigations.

- Abstract
Declines in Panulirus echinatus Smith, 1869 populations along their wide distribution in the Atlantic Ocean have spurred efforts to improve their fisheries management and conservation. In this study, the genetic structure of these populations is reported for the first time. In a survey of 18 species-specific polymorphic microsatellite markers, 152 individuals were genotyped from five Atlantic oceanic islands, covering most of the insular distribution range of the species. The analyses revealed that P. echinatus is genetically partitioned into two stocks in the Atlantic Ocean. A highly significant genetic structure was observed between north-east and south-west Atlantic populations based on fixation index, discriminant analysis of principal components, and structure and barrier analysis. We suggest that the Equatorial Circulation System represents a biophysical barrier that effectively limits migration among Atlantic subtropical gyre systems, as has been described for other species. Other physical and ecological barriers, such as the Mid-Atlantic Ridge itself, the distance between the eastern and western sides of the Atlantic (Mid-Atlantic Barrier) and water mass differences, as well as other biological aspects, may also influence larval dispersal and modulate the insular distribution of this species. The results show the existence of two distinct genetic stocks of P. echinatus and have implications for fisheries management in the Atlantic Ocean, including their independent management according to their individual status. The Cabo Verde and the Canarian populations (north-east Atlantic) showed the lowest level of genetic variability in comparison with the south-western populations. A combination of factors that have occurred or are occurring in the Canary Islands, such as overfishing and volcanic eruptions, is likely to explain the reduced abundance of this lobster species in the area.

Neoantigens ,Glycosylation ,Cancer nanovaccines - Abstract
Cancer vaccines exploiting cancer neoantigens have been proven capable of eliciting powerful immune responses against cancer cells with limited offtarget effects, constituting the next cornerstone in cancer treatment. Cancer vaccines are also capable of inducing immunological memory against recurrences, which is key for cancer management. The most promising epitopes remain peptides derived from genomic mutations. However, many solid tumours present a low mutational burden, hampering the generalization of these approaches and demanding the exploitation of other classes of biomolecules. Alterations in protein glycosylation translated by the expression of short-chain O-glycans at the surface of cancer cells offers tremendous potential towards this objective. Despite their cancer-associated nature and relevant role in cancer development, these glycans also contribute to immunosuppression, frustrating attempts to develop glycan-based vaccines. Envisaging this goal, this work describes a single-pot chemoenzymatic method for synthesizing glycoepitopes derived from cancer-associated Mucin16 (MUC16) expressing different classes of neutral and sialylated short-chain O-glycans in mimicry of cancer cells. In parallel, MUC16-Tn glycopeptides wereconjugated with immunogenic protein key lymphocyte hemocyanin (KLH), foreseeing the development of conventional glycan-protein vaccine constructs. The second part of the work exploits the potential of nanoconstructs for improved vaccine formulations. Briefly, PLGA nanoparticles were functionalized or adsorbed with MUC16-Tn and characterized by TEM and 1H NMR. Nanoparticles showed a spherical and homogenous nature, low polydispersion index, dimensions bellow 200nm and high stability at physiological pH. Toxicity thresholds and internalization capacity by antigen presenting cells was determined using macrophages. The third part of the work concerned the development of a cell model expressing the Tn antigen which was used to infer the functional implications of this antigen, with emphasis on immune evasion. Briefly, the genome of T24 urothelial cells was edited through CRISPR/Cas9 technology to produce a stable C1GALT1 knock-out. This cell line expressed significantly high levels of the Tn antigen at the cell surface and completely obliterated the expression of extended glycoforms, as translated by flow cytometry, immunofluorescence microscopy and glycomics analysis by mass spectrometry. Moreover, glycoproteomics studies confirmed MUC16-Tn expression, supporting the utility of the model in the context of the developed vaccine constructs. Interestingly, Tn antigen expression did not impact on cell proliferation, migration and invasion as well as in the expression of important molecules for cancer immune escape. Nevertheless, co-culture assays with dendritic cells suggested that Tn expressing cancer cells may negatively influence their differentiation and downregulate relevant molecules involved in antigen presentation. In summary, a rationale has been created to support the development and improvement of glycan-based vaccines for cancer foreseeing in vivo studies. Given the pancarcinomic nature of these glycoepitopes, the generalization of more efficient vaccines to different cell models may be envisaged.

Objective: To investigate the impact of variant histologies (VH) of urothelial carcinoma (UC) on survival outcomes after radical cystectomy (RC). Materials and methods: Data from 181 patients with UC treated with RC between January 2013 and December 2019 at a single tertiary care referral center were retrospectively accessed. All RC specimens were assigned by genitourinary dedicated pathologists. Overall survival (OS), disease-specific survival (DSS) and recurrence-free survival (RFS) were evaluated using the Kaplan-Meier methodology and the Cox proportional hazards regression. Results: Of 181 patients, 43.1% (n = 78) had VH, with the most common being squamous differentiation (n = 29), followed by mixed variants (n = 18), micropapillary variant (n = 10) and other subtypes (n = 21). The median (range) follow-up was 35 (18-59) months. Kaplan-Meier survival analysis shows that median OS and DS were significantly worse for VH patients (78 vs 31 months, p = 0.038; not reached vs 42 months; p = 0.016). At 5 years, VH was associated with a 12% and 14% decrease in OS and DSS, respectively. No significant statistical difference between the two groups was reached regarding RFS. However, after adjusting for confounders, such as, demographics characteristics, comorbidities and pathological features, VH were not associated with any survival outcomes. Conclusions: Our study evidenced the high incidence of bladder cancers with VH. Although clearly associated with features of more aggressive behavior, VH had not any significant impact in survival expectancies when all confounders are adjusted in multivariate analyses. 4/2/2019 – 24/2/2019, Mindelo (Republic of Cape Verde) – Mindelo (Republic of Cape Verde) DeepC-Jelly We proposed to test the hypothesis that large gelatinous macrozooplankton (e.g. tunicates, hydrozoans) are a significant carbon storage in midwater, and a vector for carbon from midwater to the ocean floor in Cape Verde. To test this hypothesis, we studied 1) the distribution, diversity and abundance of gelatinous organisms in the epi-, meso-, and bathypelagic zone, 2) their role in transporting carbon through the pelagic foodweb to the seafloor and 3) their behavior and associations. We worked in the coastal deep sea off Santo Antão and Fogo as well as in the open ocean at the time series station CVOO and an eddy. A manned submersible was used for mesopelagic surveys, to document the behaviour and associations of deep-sea organisms and to collect living specimens. We performed pelagic video transects, discrete net sampling, and eDNA sampling down to 3000 m. ADCP and CTD transects allowed a detailed reconstruction of the effect of the islands on currents and productivity. To quantify the carbon flux of pelagic foodfalls, we also surveyed the seafloor. Sample and video analysis is still in progress, but first results indicate the impact of the pelagic tunicate Pyrosoma atlanticum, which is an upwelling-favored species largely absent from the oligotrophic open ocean, in the nearshore regions of Cape Verde as well as in the cyclonic eddy sampled. It was also observed on the seafloor and resembles a food source and a habitat in the water column and in the benthos. Specimens of pelagic fauna were collected that allow new species descriptions. New records and a new species for the region were also observed during benthic surveys. The cruise was documented in various outreach activities including national television in Cabo Verde.

This study aims to compare the efficiency of two underwater visual census methods on tropical fish communities of Murdeira bay, off the southwestern coast of Sal island, Cabo Verde. two methods were tested: strip belt transect and stationary point count. Parameters compared were: species richness, abundance and diversity (d’). The results show that there are significant differences due to the interaction between the method and location, being site 2 the one that showed significant differences in the estimates generated by each method. The analysis of species sampled performed for the entire experiment shows that the stationary point count method is the most complete, as it is able to record more species and individuals than the transect method. Finally, the diversity analysis reveals that site 2 is the most diverse, coinciding with the only location where differences in the estimates were found according to the sampling method used. This study highlight the advantages of using non-destructive methods and the importance of taking into account the characteristics of the study area for choosing the sampling method.

- Abstract
The Azores, Madeira, Selvagens, Canary Islands and Cabo Verde are commonly united under the term “Macaronesia”. This study investigates the coherency and validity of Macaronesia as a biogeographic unit using six marine groups with very different dispersal abilities: coastal fishes, echinoderms, gastropod molluscs, brachyuran decapod crustaceans, polychaete annelids, and macroalgae. We found no support for the current concept of Macaronesia as a coherent marine biogeographic unit. All marine groups studied suggest the exclusion of Cabo Verde from the remaining Macaronesian archipelagos and thus, Cabo Verde should be given the status of a biogeographic subprovince within the West African Transition province. We propose to redefine the Lusitanian biogeographical province, in which we include four ecoregions: the South European Atlantic Shelf, the Saharan Upwelling, the Azores, and a new ecoregion herein named Webbnesia, which comprises the archipelagos of Madeira, Selvagens and the Canary Islands., SCOPUS: ar.j, info:eu-repo/semantics/published

Objective: This study aimed to analyze the outcomes of patients with recurrent prostate cancer (PCa) who received salvage cryotherapy (SC) in our institution. Biochemical recurrence (BCR) after definitive radiotherapy or brachytherapy for PCa is usually managed with long-term androgendeprivation therapy (ADT). In selected cases, salvage therapies might delay ADT and its side effects. Materials and Methods: All patients who received SC from 2014 to 2018 in our institution were evaluated retrospectively. Results: A total of 17 patients were included, with a median age at SC of 72.0 (range 60-77) years. The median prostate-specific antigen (PSA) before SC was 4.25 [interquartile range (IQR) 3.1-7.6] ng/mL. The median time to BCR was 18.8 (IQR 13.5-32.1) months after SC. The median PSA nadir after SC was 0.49 (IQR 0.09-1.0) ng/mL. With a median follow-up of 43 (range, 11-78) months, 7 (41%) patients had a recurrence. Of those patients, two received ADT, while others were managed conservatively. The biochemical progression-free survival (bPFS) time of patients with PSA nadir <0.5 ng/mL was 56.0 vs. 22.5 months (log-rank test, p=0.012). Gleason score =8 at diagnosis and PSA before SC >8 ng/mL were also associated with shorter bPFS (log-rank test, p<0.05). De novo urinary incontinence was reported in 5 (29.4%) patients. The 3- and 5-year PCa-specific survival rates were 93.3% and 85.6%, respectively. Conclusion: SC might be considered with acceptable oncological and functional results. Until randomized controlled trials are performed and available, series such as ours may help widen our views on all therapeutic possibilities after primary treatment failure in PCa. Pintomyia (Pifanomyia) duckei Oliveira, Alencar and Freitas sp. n. from Adolpho Ducke Reserve, Manaus, Amazonas state, Brazil, is described and illustrated based on three male specimens, the holotype and two paratypes. The paratypes have abnormalities in the external genitalia, one with asymmetric bilateral anomaly (different anomalies in each of certain paired structures) and the other with unilateral anomaly (anomaly in one of the paired structures). The new species probably belongs to the Serrana Series, integrating the list of the species whose males possess gonostylus with two stout spines (one apical and other subapical), as well as a small and very thin spine on the inner surface of the basal half.

Cabo Verde ,Eastern Atlantic ,Marine Fishes - Abstract
In recent decades the Cabo Verde ichthyofauna has been studied more extensively, and nowadays photo-recording is employed as a valuable asset under special caution and consideration. Four species reported here are new records for Cabo Verde: Carlarius sp., sea catfish; Serranus cabrilla, comber; Branchiostegus semifasciatus, African tilefish and Lutjanus dentatus, African coastal snapper. The presence in Cabo Verde of Glaucostegus cemiculus, blackchin guitarfish, Elops senegalensis, Senegalese ladyfish, Lophius spp., bathydemersal monkfishes, Rachycentron canadum, cobia, Pagrus auriga, African seabream, Lutjanus dentatus, African coastal snapper and Mugil cephalus, mullet, was re-confirmed by photo-records. Squalus megalops, cosmopolitan spurdog, was identified by genetic fingerprinting. The two littoral species, P. auriga and M. cephalus, are firmly established in the archipelago and additional information on their occurrence is given. The findings reported in the present contribution may well be the result of a wider sharing of information between fishermen and other seafarers and scientists, rather than an indicator of recent faunal changes. info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersion

- Abstract
Zoanthus is a genus of colonial cnidarians very common in shallow subtropical and tropical rocky and coral reef ecosystems around the world. Some species, such as Zoanthus solanderi and Z. sociatus, can coexist and cover extensive areas in the subtidal zone of some areas in the Caribbean. We report on a Zoanthus zone' in Western Africa in a bay in the north of Maio Island in the Cabo Verde Archipelago, discovered in October 2014. Molecular analyses showed that the Maio Island carpet is formed by Z. sociatus and Z. solanderi. Similar aggregations have been reported from the other side of the Atlantic Ocean in the Caribbean. This work demonstrates the presence of the Zoanthus zone' in the Central East Atlantic and adds two new records of Zoanthus species in the Cabo Verde Islands.

SOCCER coaching ,LOG-linear models ,COACHING of employees - Abstract
Transition moments play a major role in match outcome and constitute an important part of the soccer coaching process. Nevertheless, the body of literature on match analysis reveals a lack of knowledge regarding transition moments, particularly the defensive ones. This study aimed to analyse how several situational and performance variables were associated with different defensive transition outcomes. A sample of 977 defensive transitions from 15 matches of FIFA World Cup 2018 was coded using a bespoke observational system. Data were analysed through log-linear modelling and Pearson's chi-square. Regarding performance variables, final position (p ≤ 0.001; ES = 0.390[≥0.290]; large effect size), duration (p ≤ 0.001; ES = 0.206[0.07; 0.21]), defensive approach (p ≤ 0.001; ES = 0.419[0.30; 0.50]), defensive pressure (p ≤ 0.001; ES = 0.147[0.05; 0.15]; medium effect sizes), numerical relations (p ≤ 0.05; ES = 0.113[0.07; 0.21]), initial position (p ≤ 0.05; ES = 0.092[0.06; 0.17]), initial number of zones (p ≤ 0.05; ES = 0.083[0.05; 0.15]), final number of zones (p ≤ 0.001; ES = 0.112[0.05; 0.15]) and defensive coverage (p ≤ 0.001; ES = 0.130[0.05; 0.15]; small effect sizes) were significantly associated with the defensive transitions outcomes. A small-sized and non-significant association (p = 0.126; ES = 0.080[0.07; 0.21]) was found for type of ball loss. Concerning the situational variables, a small-sized and significant association between match outcome and defensive transitions outcome was identified (p ≤ 0.05; ES = 0.092[0.07; 0.21]). Our findings provide new knowledge on factors that influence team success in defensive transitions. The coaching staff should be aware that the exploitation of areas behind the most retreated player of the midfield sector ought to be avoided. Furthermore, a reduction in the space available to ball carriers and an increased effort to quickly recover possession should be encouraged. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Reconhecer as fontes espirituais deste movimento no séc.

RELIGIÃO ,ESOTERISMO OCIDENTAL ,WESTERN ESOTERICISM ,RELIGION - Abstract

- Abstract
Summary: The Egyptian Vulture Neophron percnopterus was once an abundant species in the Cabo Verde Islands. Since the 1960s though, and especially during the 1980–1990s, it consistently declined to near extinction. Evidence collected indicates a remnant population of about a dozen pairs or less, scattered through the desert rangelands of only three islands. Extensive enquiry work revealed that this likely resulted from the concomitant effects of the rise in unnatural mortality due to the formerly widespread and long-lasting use of dangerous pesticides and the (still on-going) poisoning of stray dogs and other nuisance animals, and a decrease in food resources associated with factors linked with development, such as urbanisation, rural abandonment and better sanitation. Avoiding imminent extinction calls for emergency action against current threats to the remaining vultures, such as poisoning and electrocution, but also potential causes of impaired fecundity such as hazardous pesticides and shortage of food resources. Declines in Panulirus echinatus Smith, 1869 populations along their wide distribution in the Atlantic Ocean have spurred efforts to improve their fisheries management and conservation. In this study, the genetic structure of these populations is reported for the first time.In a survey of 18 species‐specific polymorphic microsatellite markers, 152 individuals were genotyped from five Atlantic oceanic islands, covering most of the insular distribution range of the species. The analyses revealed that P. echinatus is genetically partitioned into two stocks in the Atlantic Ocean. A highly significant genetic structure was observed between north‐east and south‐west Atlantic populations based on fixation index, discriminant analysis of principal components, and structure and barrier analysis. We suggest that the Equatorial Circulation System represents a biophysical barrier that effectively limits migration among Atlantic subtropical gyre systems, as has been described for other species. Other physical and ecological barriers, such as the Mid‐Atlantic Ridge itself, the distance between the eastern and western sides of the Atlantic (Mid‐Atlantic Barrier) and water mass differences, as well as other biological aspects, may also influence larval dispersal and modulate the insular distribution of this species. The results show the existence of two distinct genetic stocks of P. echinatus and have implications for fisheries management in the Atlantic Ocean, including their independent management according to their individual status. The Cabo Verde and the Canarian populations (north‐east Atlantic) showed the lowest level of genetic variability in comparison with the south‐western populations. A combination of factors that have occurred or are occurring in the Canary Islands, such as overfishing and volcanic eruptions, is likely to explain the reduced abundance of this lobster species in the area.
