Il Progetto di Cartografia Geologica Italiana (CARG) include la rappresentazione delle aree sommerse, per le quali sono state elaborate dal Servizio Geologico d'Italia – ISPRA linee guida dedicate che seguono, per quanto possibile, gli stessi criteri adottati per le aree emerse. La rappresentazione cartografica delle aree sommerse si concentra sulla stratigrafia (sequenza deposizionale post-glaciale), sull'interpretazione dei processi sedimentari in un quadro ambientale e evolutivo, sulla morfologia e sulla sedimentologia dei fondali marini. Tutte le informazioni raccolte nel corso dei rilevamenti sono archiviate in una banca dati nazionale in continuo aggiornamento, realizzata alla scala 1:25.000. I dati resi disponibili dalla Cartografia Geologica Italiana stanno contribuendo costruttivamente alla realizzazione di una cartografia geologica digitale armonizzata a livello europeo, nella quale vengono convogliate tutte le conoscenze geologiche dei diversi paesi. Tale cartografia è uno degli obiettivi del Progetto EMODnet – European Marine Observation and Data Network, finalizzato alla costruzione di una infrastruttura contenente tutte le informazioni relative alle aree sommerse e accessibile liberamente. The Italian Geological Mapping Project (CARG) includes the representation of submerged areas. For this purpose the Geological Survey of Italy - ISPRA has elaborated specific guidelines harmonized, as much as possible, with those applied on land. The cartographic representation of outcropping units focuses on stratigraphy (post-glacial depositional sequence), on the interpretation of sedimentary processes within an environmental and evolutionary framework, on the morphology and sedimentology of the seafloor. All information collected during surveys is stored in a constantly updated national database, realized at the 1: 25,000 scale. Data available from the Italian Geological Mapping Project are constructively contributing to the production of digital geological maps harmonized at European level, in which all of the geological knowledge of several countries is conveyed. These maps are one of the goals of the EMODnet - European Marine Observation and Data Network Project, aimed at building a freely accessible infrastructure containing all information related to submerged areas.

The Geological Map of the Cilento, Vallo di Diano and Alburni Geopark includes, for the first time in Italy, marine areas. The work was carried out by the Geological Survey of Italy (ISPRA), in collaboration with the Italian National Research Council (CNR) and the University "Parthenope" of Naples (DISAM). The map was realized at 1:110,000 scale for the entire Geopark, covering a marine area of 460 square kilometers, until a depth of -100 m. A detailed map of the Marine Protected Area "Santa Maria di Castellabate" was produced at 1:30,000 scale. The seafloor was described according to a classification based on geomorphology, geological composition and dominant organisms. The cartographic representation is largely based on the morphological features derived by a detailed bathymetry, completed by geological seabed data resulting from the Italian Geological Mapping Project at 1:50,000 scale (CARG Project). Biological data have been complemented by ROV inspections.

Liver transplant (LT) recipients are vulnerable to SARS-CoV-2-infection (COVID-19), due to immunosuppression and comorbidities. This study aimed to evaluate the impact of COVID-19 on LT recipients compared to general population in the Campania region. In this prospective double-centre study, we enrolled all consecutive adult LT recipients with confirmed SARS-CoV-2-infection. Data were collected at diagnosis of COVID-19 and during follow-up and compared with the regional population. Thirty LT recipients (3.28%) developed SARS-CoV-2-infection (76.66% male, median age 62.61 years). Sixteen (53.33%) were symptomatic. Common symptoms were fever, cough, fatigue, and anosmia. Twenty-five (83.33%) were outpatients, 5 (16.66%) required hospitalization (6.66% admitted to Intensive Care Unit, 6.62% developed Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome and 6.66% died). Immunosuppressors were in 3 (10%) patients. Incidence rate of COVID-19 was similar between LT patients and general population (3.28% vs 4.37%, p = 0.142) with higher rate of symptoms in LT patients (53.33% vs 15.87%, p

The presence of fluids in the sediments of the Gulf of Trieste (Northern Adriatic) produces surface occurrences that have been identified by high resolution seismic data. In particular, south-west of Grado, six sites have been pinpointed with evidence of accumulation of fluids within the sediment, dispersion of fluids in the water column, and presence on the sea bottom of rocky outcrops whose genesis is assumed to be linked to the precipitation of calcium carbonate methane-derived.

The analyses of chirp sub-bottom profilers and multibeam data acquired during several surveys of the R/V OGS Explora, and their correlation with multichannel seismic profiles, have highlighted the presence of gas seepages, fracture systems and deep salt features present in the Central Adriatic Sea. Their distribution shows a strict relation between their mutual development.

Several surveys of the R/V OGS Explora highlight the presence of coral structures and mud volcanoes in the Otranto Channel. The OCSS15 project, produced highresolution chirp profiles, multibeam swath bathymetry and medium-resolution multi-channel seismic reflection lines, as well as sampling by gravity corer and grab. These data have integrated pre-existing seismic profiles to analyse the potential seabed habitats (e.g. mounds and pockmark-associated coral reefs), the submarine structures (e.g. mud volcanoes, pockmarks, etc.), the shallow sediment layers and gas seeps features like bright spots and other acoustic evidence of gas migration through some micro-fractures.

Although liver biopsy represents the gold standard to ascertain the ethiopathology of liver disease, it is associated with a significant rate of complications and mortality. This is heightened, in the context of CVID, by the additional infectious risk due to the underlying immune defect.3 Indeed, we suggest that the assessment of liver stiffness by TE should be used alongside clinical, laboratory, and imaging tools to both improve the accuracy of detection of liver disease and select subjects eligible for liver biopsy. Further studies are needed to establish the optimal timing of re-screening, the actual power of this technique to diagnose liver involvement in a preclinical phase, and the degree of concordance between TE results and liver histopathologic findings.

Acoustic investigation of the part of the mixed carbonate-siliciclastic Adriatic Shelf was conducted in order to test a 38kHz quantitative split-beam echosounder, usually used as tool in acoustic surveys on pelagic fish. The seabed sediment data were ground-truthed by 38 grab samples. Spatial distribution of the calculated mean volume backscattering coefficient has revealed a strong similarity with existing seabed sediment textural maps, alowing us to use this echosounder as suitable for seabed characterization.
