Abstract: We report on a search for CP violation in the decay D ±→KS0π± using a data set corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 469fb-1 collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric energy e+e- storage rings. The CP-violating decay rate asymmetry ACP is determined to be (-0.44±0.13(stat)±0.10(syst))%, consistent with zero at 2.7σ and with the standard model prediction of (-0.332±0.006)%. This is currently the most precise measurement of this parameter. © 2011 American Physical Society.

Abstract: The decay width and mass of the Ds1(2536)+ meson are measured via the decay channel Ds1+→D*+KS0 using 385fb-1 of data recorded with the BABAR detector in the vicinity of the Υ(4S) resonance at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy electron-positron collider. The result for the decay width is Γ(Ds1+)=0.92±0.03(stat.)±0.04(syst.)MeV. For the mass, a value of m(Ds1+)=2535.08±0.01(stat.)±0.15(syst.)MeV/c2 is obtained. The mass difference between the Ds1+ and the D*+ is measured to be m(Ds1+)-m(D*+)=524. 83±0.01(stat.)±0.04(syst.)MeV/c2, representing a significant improvement compared to the current world average. The unnatural spin-parity assignment for the Ds1+ meson is confirmed. © 2011 American Physical Society.

Abstract: Using 347.5fb-1 of data recorded by the BABAR detector at the PEP-II electron-positron collider, 244×103 signal events for the D +→K-π+e+νe decay channel are analyzed. This decay mode is dominated by the K̄(892)0 contribution. We determine the K̄*(892)0 parameters: mK(892)0=(895.4±0.2±0.2)MeV/c2, ΓK *(892)00=(46.5±0.3±0.2)MeV/c2, and the Blatt-Weisskopf parameter rBW=2.1±0.5±0.5(GeV/c) -1, where the first uncertainty comes from statistics and the second from systematic uncertainties. We also measure the parameters defining the corresponding hadronic form factors at q2=0 (rV=V(0)A 1(0)=1.463±0.017±0.031, r2=A 2(0)A1(0)=0.801±0.020±0.020) and the value of the axial-vector pole mass parametrizing the q2 variation of A1 and A2: mA=(2.63±0.10±0.13)GeV/c2. The S-wave fraction is equal to (5.79±0.16±0.15)%. Other signal components correspond to fractions below 1%. Using the D+→K -π+π+ channel as a normalization, we measure the D+ semileptonic branching fraction: B(D +→K-π+e+νe)= (4.00±0.03±0.04±0.09)×10-2, where the third uncertainty comes from external inputs. We then obtain the value of the hadronic form factor A1 at q2=0: A1(0)=0.6200±0. 0056±0.0065±0.0071. Fixing the P-wave parameters, we measure the phase of the S wave for several values of the Kπ mass. These results confirm those obtained with Kπ production at small momentum transfer in fixed target experiments. © 2011 American Physical Society.

Abstract: We report the results of a study of the exclusive charmless semileptonic decays, B+→η(′)ℓ+ν and B0→π-ℓ+ν, undertaken with approximately 464×106 BB̄ pairs collected at the Υ(4S) resonance with the BABAR detector. The analysis uses events in which the signal B decays are reconstructed with a loose neutrino reconstruction technique. We obtain partial branching fractions for B+→ηℓ+ν and B0→π-ℓ+ν decays in three and 12 bins of q2, respectively, from which we extract the f+(q2) form-factor shapes and the total branching fractions B(B+→ηℓ +ν)=(0.36±0.05stat±0.04 syst)×10-4 and B(B0→π -ℓ+ν)=(1.42±0.05stat±0. 07syst)×10-4. We also measure B(B +→η′ℓ+ν)=(0.24±0. 08stat±0.03syst)×10-4. We obtain values for the magnitude of the CKM matrix element |Vub| using three different QCD calculations. © 2011 American Physical Society.

Abstract: We present measurements of the branching fractions, longitudinal polarization, and direct CP-violation asymmetries for the decays B +→ρ0K*+ and B +→f0(980)K*+ with a sample of (467±5)×106BB̄ pairs collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy e+e- collider at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory. We observe B+→ρ 0K*+ with a significance of 5.3σ and measure the branching fraction B(B+→ρ0K*+)=(4.6±1.0±0.4)×10-6, the longitudinal polarization fL=0.78±0.12±0.03, and the CP-violation asymmetry ACP=0.31±0.13±0.03. We observe B+→f0(980)K*+ and measure the branching fraction B(B+→f0(980)K *+)×B(f0(980) →π+π-)=(4.2±0.6±0.3) ×10-6 and the CP-violation asymmetry ACP=-0. 15±0.12±0.03. The first uncertainty quoted is statistical and the second is systematic. © 2011 American Physical Society.

Abstract: We perform a Dalitz plot analysis of about 100000 Ds+ decays to K +K-π+ and measure the complex amplitudes of the intermediate resonances which contribute to this decay mode. We also measure the relative branching fractions of Ds+→K+K+π - and Ds+→K+K+K-. For this analysis we use a 384 fb-1 data sample, recorded by the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy e+e- collider running at center-of-mass energies near 10.58 GeV. © 2011 American Physical Society.

Abstract: We report the results of a study of the exclusive charmless semileptonic decays, B+→η(′)ℓ+ν and B0→π-ℓ+ν, undertaken with approximately 464×106 BB̄ pairs collected at the Υ(4S) resonance with the BABAR detector. The analysis uses events in which the signal B decays are reconstructed with a loose neutrino reconstruction technique. We obtain partial branching fractions for B+→ηℓ+ν and B0→π-ℓ+ν decays in three and 12 bins of q2, respectively, from which we extract the f+(q2) form-factor shapes and the total branching fractions B(B+→ηℓ +ν)=(0.36±0.05stat±0.04 syst)×10-4 and B(B0→π -ℓ+ν)=(1.42±0.05stat±0. 07syst)×10-4. We also measure B(B +→η′ℓ+ν)=(0.24±0. 08stat±0.03syst)×10-4. We obtain values for the magnitude of the CKM matrix element |Vub| using three different QCD calculations. © 2011 American Physical Society.

Abstract: We present measurements of partial branching fractions of B→K +X, B→K0X, and B→π+X, where X denotes any accessible final state above the endpoint for B decays to charmed mesons, specifically for momenta of the candidate hadron greater than 2.34 (2.36) GeV for kaons (pions) in the B rest frame. These measurements are sensitive to potential new-physics particles which could enter the b→s(d) loop transitions. The analysis is performed on a data sample consisting of 383×106BB̄ pairs collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II e+e- asymmetric energy collider. We observe the inclusive B→π+X process, and we set upper limits for B→K +X and B→K0X. Our results for these inclusive branching fractions are consistent with those of known exclusive modes, and exclude large enhancements due to sources of new physics. © 2011 American Physical Society.

Abstract: We report the result of a search for the rare decay B0→γγ in 426fb-1 of data, corresponding to 226×106 B0B ̄0 pairs, collected on the Υ(4S) resonance at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy e+e- collider using the BABAR detector. We use a maximum likelihood fit to extract the signal yield and observe 21-12+13 signal events with a statistical significance of 1.8σ. This corresponds to a branching fraction B(B0→γγ)=(1.7±1.1(stat.) ±0.2(syst.))×10-7. Based on this result, we set a 90% confidence level upper limit of B(B0→γγ)

Abstract: We present an analysis of exclusive charmless semileptonic B-meson decays based on 377×106 BB̄ pairs recorded with the B A BAR detector at the Υ(4S) resonance. We select four event samples corresponding to the decay modes B0→π-ℓ+ν, B +→π0ℓ+ν, B0→ρ -ℓ+ν, and B+→ρ0ℓ +ν and find the measured branching fractions to be consistent with isospin symmetry. Assuming isospin symmetry, we combine the two B→πℓν samples, and similarly the two B→ρℓν samples, and measure the branching fractions B(B0→π -ℓ+ν)=(1.41±0.05±0.07)×10 -4 and B(B0→ρ-ℓ+ν)=(1. 75±0.15±0.27)×10-4, where the errors are statistical and systematic. We compare the measured distribution in q2, the momentum transfer squared, with predictions for the form factors from QCD calculations and determine the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix element |V ub|. Abstract: We present a measurement of the branching fractions of the 22 decay channels of the B0 and B+ mesons to D̄(*)D(*)K, where the D(*) and D̄(*) mesons are fully reconstructed. Summing the 10 neutral modes and the 12 charged modes, the branching fractions are found to be B(B0→D̄(*)D(*)K)=(3.68±0. 10±0.24)% and B(B+→D̄(*)D(*)K)=(4. 05±0.11±0.28)%, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic. The results are based on 429fb-1 of data containing 471×106BB̄ pairs collected at the Υ(4S) resonance with the BABAR detector at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory. © 2011 American Physical Society.

Abstract: Based on 122×106Υ(3S) events collected with the BABAR detector, we have observed the Υ(13DJ) bottomonium state through the Υ(3S)→γγΥ(13DJ) →γγπ⊃+π⊃-Υ(1S) decay chain. The significance for the J=2 member of the Υ(13DJ) triplet is 5.8 standard deviations including systematic uncertainties. The mass of the J=2 state is determined to be 10164.5±0.8(stat)±0.5(syst)MeV/c2. We use the π⊃+π⊃- invariant mass distribution to confirm the consistency of the observed state with the orbital angular momentum assignment of the Υ(13DJ). Copyright © 2010 American Physical Society.

Abstract: We present a search for the rare decays B⊃+→K⊃+νν̄ and B0→K0νν̄ using 459×106 BB̄ pairs collected with the BABAR detector at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory. Flavor-changing neutral-current decays such as these are forbidden at tree level but can occur through one-loop diagrams in the standard model (SM), with possible contributions from new physics at the same order. The presence of two neutrinos in the final state makes identification of signal events challenging, so reconstruction in the semileptonic decay channels B→D(⊃*)lν of the B meson recoiling from the signal B is used to suppress backgrounds. We set an upper limit at the 90% confidence level (CL) of 1.3×10⊃-5 on the total branching fraction for B⊃+→K⊃+νν̄, and 5.6×10⊃-5 for B0→K0νν̄. We additionally report 90% CL upper limits on partial branching fractions in two ranges of dineutrino mass squared for B⊃+→K⊃+νν̄. © 2010 The American Physical Society.

Abstract: We present a study of the D⊃+π⊃-, D0π⊃+, and D⊃*⊃+π⊃- systems in inclusive e⊃+e⊃-→cc̄ interactions in a search for new excited D meson states. We use a data set, consisting of ∼454fb⊃-1, collected at center-of-mass energies near 10.58 GeV by the B?>A?>B?>AR?> detector at the SLAC PEP-II asymmetric-energy collider. We observe, for the first time, candidates for the radial excitations of the D0, D⊃*0, and D⊃*⊃+, as well as the L=2 excited states of the D0 and D⊃+, where L is the orbital angular momentum of the quarks. © 2010 The American Physical Society.

Abstract: Based on 122×106Υ(3S) events collected with the BABAR detector, we have observed the Υ(13DJ) bottomonium state through the Υ(3S)→γγΥ(13DJ) →γγπ⊃+π⊃-Υ(1S) decay chain. The significance for the J=2 member of the Υ(13DJ) triplet is 5.8 standard deviations including systematic uncertainties. The mass of the J=2 state is determined to be 10164.5±0.8(stat)±0.5(syst)MeV/c2. We use the π⊃+π⊃- invariant mass distribution to confirm the consistency of the observed state with the orbital angular momentum assignment of the Υ(13DJ). Copyright © 2010 American Physical Society.

Abstract: We report a search for the rare decays B+→D+K0 and B+→D+K*0 in an event sample of approximately 465×106 BB̄ pairs collected with the B A B AR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy e+e- collider at SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory. We find no significant evidence for either mode and we set 90% probability upper limits on the branching fractions of B(B +→D+K0)

Abstract: The absolute branching fractions for the decays Ds-→ℓ -ν̄ℓ (ℓ=e, μ, or τ) are measured using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 521fb -1 collected at center-of-mass energies near 10.58 GeV with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II e+e- collider at SLAC. The number of Ds- mesons is determined by reconstructing the recoiling system DKXγ in events of the type e+e-→DKXDs*-, where Ds*-→Ds-γ and X represents additional pions from fragmentation. The Ds-→ℓ-νℓ events are detected by full or partial reconstruction of the recoiling system DKXγℓ. The branching fraction measurements are combined to determine the Ds- decay constant fD s=(258.6±6.4±7.5)MeV, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. © 2010 The American Physical Society.

Abstract: We present a study of 649±35 e⊃+e⊃-→cc̄ events produced at √s±10.6GeV containing both a Λc+ baryon and a Λ̄c- antibaryon. The number observed is roughly 4 times that expected if the leading charmed hadron types are uncorrelated, confirming an observation by the CLEO Collaboration. We find a 2-jet topology in these events but very few additional baryons, demonstrating that the primary c and c̄ are predominantly contained in a correlated baryon-antibaryon system. In addition to the charmed baryons we observe on average 2.6±0.2 charged intermediate mesons, predominantly pions, carrying 65% of the remaining energy.© 2010 The American Physical Society.

Abstract: We report a search for the rare decays B+→D+K0 and B+→D+K*0 in an event sample of approximately 465×106 BB̄ pairs collected with the B A B AR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy e+e- collider at SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory. We find no significant evidence for either mode and we set 90% probability upper limits on the branching fractions of B(B +→D+K0)

Abstract: We present a search for f(J)(2220) production in radiative J/ψ→γf(J)(2220) decays using 460 fb⁻¹ of data collected with the BABAR detector at the SLAC PEP-II e(+)e⁻ collider. The f(J)(2220) is searched for in the decays to K(+)K⁻ and K(S)⁰K(S)⁰. No evidence of this resonance is observed, and 90% confidence level upper limits on the product of the branching fractions for J/ψ→γf(J)(2220) and f(J)(2220)→K(+)K⁻(K(S)⁰K(S)⁰) as a function of spin and helicity are set at the level of 10⁻⁵, below the central values reported by the Mark III experiment.

Abstract: We report results from an updated study of the suppressed decays B-→DK- and B-→D*K- followed by D→K+π-, where D(*) indicates a D(*)0 or a D̄(*)0 meson, and D*→Dπ0 or D*→Dγ. These decays are sensitive to the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa unitarity triangle angle γ due to interference between the b→c transition B-→D(*)0K- followed by the doubly Cabibbo-suppressed decay D0→K+π-, and the b→u transition B-→D̄(*)0K- followed by the Cabibbo-favored decay D̄0→K+π-. We also report an analysis of the decay B-→D(*)π- with the D decaying into the doubly Cabibbo-suppressed mode D→K+π-. Our results are based on 467×106 Υ(4S) →BB̄ decays collected with the BABAR detector at SLAC. We measure the ratios R(*) of the suppressed ([K+π-]DK-/π-) to favored ([K-π+]DK-/π-) branching fractions as well as the CP asymmetries A(*) of those modes. We see indications of signals for the B-→DK- and B-→DDπ0*K- suppressed modes, with statistical significances of 2.1 and 2.2σ, respectively, and we measure: R DK=(1.1±0.6±0.2)×10-2,ADK=-0. 86±0.47-0.16+0.12, R(Dπ0)K*=(1.8±0.9±0.4) ×10-2,A(Dπ0)K*=+0.77±0.35±0.12,R(Dγ)K*= (1.3±1.4±0.8)×10-2,A(Dγ)K*=+0.36±0.94-0. 41+0.25, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. Abstract: Using the entire sample of 467×106 Υ(4S)→BB̄ decays collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy B factory at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory, we perform an analysis of B±→DK± decays, using decay modes in which the neutral D meson decays to either CP-eigenstates or non-CP-eigenstates. We measure the partial decay rate charge asymmetries for CP-even and CP-odd D final states to be A CP+=0.25±0.06±0.02 and ACP-=-0.09±0. 07±0.02, respectively, where the first error is the statistical and the second is the systematic uncertainty. The parameter ACP+ is different from zero with a significance of 3.6 standard deviations, constituting evidence for direct CP violation. We also measure the ratios of the charged-averaged B partial decay rates in CP and non-CP decays, RCP+=1.18±0. 09±0.05 and RCP-=1.07±0.08±0.04. We infer frequentist confidence intervals for the angle γ of the unitarity triangle, for the strong phase difference δB, and for the amplitude ratio rB, which are related to the B-→DK- decay amplitude by rBei(δB-γ)=A(B-→D̄0K-)/ A(B-→D0K-). Including statistical and systematic uncertainties, we obtain 0.24

Abstract: We perform a study of exclusive production of Ds+Ds-, Ds*+Ds-, and Ds*+Ds*- final states in initial-state-radiation events from e +e- annihilations at a center-of-mass energy near 10.58 GeV, to search for charmonium 1- states. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 525fb-1 and was recorded by the BABAR experiment at the PEP-II storage ring. The Ds+Ds-, Ds*+Ds-, and Ds*+Ds*- mass spectra show evidence of the known ψ resonances. Limits are extracted for the branching ratios of the decays X(4260)→Ds (*)+Ds(*). © 2010 The American Physical Society.

Abstract: Using a sample of 471×106 BB̄ events collected with the BABAR detector, we study the sum of seven exclusive final states B→X s(d)γ, where Xs(d) is a strange (nonstrange) hadronic system with a mass of up to 2.0GeV/c2. After correcting for unobserved decay modes, we obtain a branching fraction for b→dγ of (9.2±2.0(stat)±2.3(syst))×10⊃-6 in this mass range, and a branching fraction for b→sγ of (23.0±0.8(stat)±3. 0(syst))×10⊃-5 in the same mass range. We find B(b→dγ) B(b→sγ)=0.040±0.009(stat)±0.010(syst), from which we determine |Vtd/Vts|=0.199±0.022(stat)±0. 024(syst)±0.002(th). © 2010 The American Physical Society.

Abstract: We report a direct measurement of D0-D0 mixing parameters through a time-dependent amplitude analysis of the Dalitz plots of D(0) → K(S)(0) π+ π- and, for the first time, D0 → K(S)(0)K+ K- decays. The low-momentum pion π(s)(+) in the decay D*+ → D0 π(s)(+) identifies the flavor of the neutral D meson at its production. Using 468.5 fb(-1) of e+ e- colliding-beam data recorded near square root(s)=10.6 GeV by the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy collider at SLAC, we measure the mixing parameters x = [1.6 ± 2.3(stat) ± 1.2(syst) ± 0.8(model)] × 10(-3), and y = [5.7 ± 2.0(stat) ± 1.3(syst) ± 0.7(model)] × 10(-3). These results provide the best measurement to date of x and y. The knowledge of the value of x, in particular, is crucial for understanding the origin of mixing.

Abstract: We report an analysis of charmless hadronic decays of neutral B mesons to the final state KS0K±π, using a data sample of (465±5)×106 BB̄ events collected with the BABAR detector at the Υ(4S) resonance. We observe an excess of signal events with a significance of 5.2 standard deviations including systematic uncertainties and measure the branching fraction to be B(B0→KS0K±π)=(3. 2±0.5±0.3)×10-6, where the uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. © 2010 The American Physical Society.

Abstract: We present measurements of B-meson decays to the final states η′ρ, η′f0, and η′K*, where K* stands for a vector, scalar, or tensor strange meson. We observe a significant signal or evidence for η′ρ+ and all the η′K* channels. We also measure, where applicable, the charge asymmetries, finding results consistent with no direct CP violation in all cases. The measurements are performed on a data sample consisting of 467×106 BB̄ pairs, collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II e+e- collider at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory. Our results favor the theoretical predictions from perturbative QCD and QCD factorization and we observe an enhancement of the tensor K2*(1430) with respect to the vector K*(892) component. © 2010 The American Physical Society.

Abstract: We present a study of the decays B0,+→J/ ψπ+π-π0K0,+, using 467×106 BB̄ pairs recorded with the BABAR detector. We present evidence for the decay mode X(3872)→J/ψω, with product branching fractions B(B+→X(3872)K+)×B(X(3872)→J/ ψω)=[0.6±0.2(stat)±0.1(syst)]×10-5, and B(B0→X(3872)K0)×B(X(3872)→J/ψω)=[0.6±0.3(stat) ±0.1(syst)]×10-5. A detailed study of the π+π-π0 mass distribution from X(3872) decay favors a negative-parity assignment. © 2010 The American Physical Society.

Abstract: A search for the neutrinoless, lepton-flavor violating decay of the τ lepton into three charged leptons has been performed using an integrated luminosity of 468fb-1 collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II collider. In all six decay modes considered, the numbers of events found in data are compatible with the background expectations. Upper limits on the branching fractions are set in the range (1.8-3.3)×10-8 at 90% confidence level. © 2010 The American Physical Society.

Abstract: A search for the Z(3930) resonance in γγ production of the DD̄ system has been performed using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 384fb-1 recorded by the BABAR experiment at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy electron-positron collider. The DD̄ invariant mass distribution shows clear evidence of the Z(3930) state with a significance of 5.8σ. We determine mass and width values of (3926.7±2. 7±1.1)MeV/c2 and (21.3±6.8±3.6)MeV, respectively. A decay angular analysis provides evidence that the Z(3930) is a tensor state with positive parity and C parity (JPC=2++); therefore we identify the Z(3930) state as the χc2(2P) meson. The value of the partial width Γγγ×B(Z(3930)→DD̄) is found to be (0.24±0.05±0.04)keV. © 2010 The American Physical Society.

Abstract: The ratio R(τμ)(Υ(1S))=Γ(Υ(1S)→τ+ τ-)/Γ(Υ(1S)→μ+ μ-) is measured using a sample of (121.8±1.2)×10(6)Υ(3S) events recorded by the BABAR detector. This measurement is intended as a test of lepton universality and as a search for a possible light pseudoscalar Higgs boson. In the standard model (SM) this ratio is expected to be close to 1. Any significant deviations would violate lepton universality and could be introduced by the coupling to a light pseudoscalar Higgs boson. The analysis studies the decays Υ(3S)→Υ(1S)π+ π-, Υ(1S)→l+ l-, where l=μ, τ. The result, R(τμ)(Υ(1S))=1.005±0.013(stat)±0.022(syst), shows no deviation from the expected SM value, while improving the precision with respect to previous measurements.

Abstract: A search for the Z(3930) resonance in γγ production of the DD̄ system has been performed using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 384fb-1 recorded by the BABAR experiment at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy electron-positron collider. The DD̄ invariant mass distribution shows clear evidence of the Z(3930) state with a significance of 5.8σ. We determine mass and width values of (3926.7±2. 7±1.1)MeV/c2 and (21.3±6.8±3.6)MeV, respectively. A decay angular analysis provides evidence that the Z(3930) is a tensor state with positive parity and C parity (JPC=2++); therefore we identify the Z(3930) state as the χc2(2P) meson. The value of the partial width Γγγ×B(Z(3930)→DD̄) is found to be (0.24±0.05±0.04)keV. © 2010 The American Physical Society.

Abstract: Charged-lepton flavor-violating processes are unobservable in the standard model, but they are predicted to be enhanced in several extensions to the standard model, including supersymmetry and models with leptoquarks or compositeness. We present a search for such processes in a sample of 99x10(6)Upsilon(2S) decays and 117x10(6)Upsilon(3S) decays collected with the BABAR detector. We place upper limits on the branching fractions B(Upsilon(nS)-->e(+/-)tau(-/+)) and B(Upsilon(nS)-->mu(+/-)tau(-/+)) (n=2,3) at the 10(-6) level and use these results to place lower limits of order 1 TeV on the mass scale of charged-lepton flavor-violating effective operators.

Abstract: We study the reaction e+e-→e+e -ηc, ηc→KSK±π" and obtain ηc mass and width values 2982.2±0.4±1.6MeV/c2 and 31.7±1.2±0.8MeV, respectively. We find Γ(ηc→γ γ)B(ηc→KK̄π)=0.374±0.009±0.031keV, and measure the γγ*→ηc transition form factor in the momentum transfer range from 2 to 50GeV2. The analysis is based on 469fb-1 of integrated luminosity collected at PEP-II with the BABAR detector at e+e- center-of-mass energies near 10.6 GeV. © 2010 The American Physical Society.

Abstract: We present a study of the inclusive D*± production in the decay of Υ(1S) using (98.6±0.9)×106 Υ(2S) mesons collected with the BABAR detector at the Υ(2S) resonance. Using the decay chain Υ(2S)→π+π-Υ(1S), Υ(1S)→D*±X, where X is unobserved, we measure the branching fraction B[Υ(1S)→D*±X]=(2. 52±0.13(stat)±0.15(syst))% and the D*± momentum distribution in the rest frame of the Υ(1S). We find evidence for an excess of D*± production over the expected rate from the virtual photon annihilation process Υ(1S)→γ *→cc̄→D*±X. © 2010 The American Physical Society.

Abstract: We have observed the decays B--> phiK and phiK(*) in a sample of over 45 million B mesons collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II collider. The measured branching fractions are B(B+--> phiK+) = (7.7(+1.6)(-1.4)+/-0.8)x10(-6), B(B0--> phiK0) = (8.1(+3.1)(-2.5)+/-0.8)x10(-6), B(B+--> phiK(*+)) = (9.7(+4.2)(-3.4)+/-1.7)x10(-6), and B(B0--> phiK(*0)) = (8.7(+2.5)(-2.1)+/-1.1)x10(-6). We also report the upper limit B(B+--> phipi(+))

Abstract: The production of J/psi mesons in continuum e(+)e(-) annihilations has been studied with the BABAR detector at energies near the Upsilon(4S) resonance. The mesons are distinguished from J/psi production in B decays through their center-of-mass momentum and energy. We measure the cross section e(+)e(-)-->J/psi X to be 2.52+/-0.21+/-0.21 pb. We set a 90% C.L. upper limit on the branching fraction for direct Upsilon(4S)-->J/psi X decays at 4.7 x 10(-4).

We find the branching fractions B(B0-->pi(+)pi(-)) = (4.1+/-1.0+/-0.7)x10(-6), B(B0-->K+pi(-)) = (16.7+/-1.6+/-1.3)x10(-6), B(B+-->K+pi(0)) = (10.8(+2.1)(-1.9)+/-1.0)x10(-6), B(B+-->K0pi(+)) = (18.2(+3.3)(-3.0)+/-2.0)x10(-6), B(B0-->K0pi(0)) = (8.2(+3.1)(-2.7)+/-1.2)x10(-6). We also report 90% confidence level upper limits for B meson decays to the pi(+)pi(0), K+K-, and K0K+ final states. In addition, charge asymmetries have been found to be consistent with zero, where the statistical precision is in the range of +/-0.10 to +/-0.18, depending on the decay mode.

Abstract: BABAR, the detector for the SLAC PEP-II asymmetric e+e- B Factory operating at the upsilon 4S resonance, was designed to allow comprehensive studies of CP-violation in B-meson decays. Charged particle tracks are measured in a multi-layer silicon vertex tracker surrounded by a cylindrical wire drift chamber. Electromagentic showers from electrons and photons are detected in an array of CsI crystals located just inside the solenoidal coil of a superconducting magnet. Muons and neutral hadrons are identified by arrays of resistive plate chambers inserted into gaps in the steel flux return of the magnet. Charged hadrons are identified by dE/dx measurements in the tracking detectors and in a ring-imaging Cherenkov detector surrounding the drift chamber. The trigger, data acquisition and data-monitoring systems, VME- and network-based, are controlled by custom-designed online software. Abstract: We report measurements of partial branching fractions for inclusive charmless semileptonic B decays B̄→Xulν̄ and the determination of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa (CKM) matrix element |Vub|. The analysis is based on a sample of 467×106 Υ(4S)→BB̄ decays recorded with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II e+e-storage rings. We select events in which the decay of one of the B mesons is fully reconstructed and an electron or a muon signals the semileptonic decay of the other B meson. We measure partial branching fractions ΔB in several restricted regions of phase space and determine the CKM element |Vub| based on different QCD predictions. For decays with a charged lepton momentum pl*>1.0GeV in the B meson rest frame, we obtain ΔB=(1.80±0.13stat±0.15sys±0.02theo)×10-3 from a fit to the two-dimensional MX-q2 distribution. Here, MXrefers to the invariant mass of the final state hadron X and q2 is the invariant mass squared of the charged lepton and neutrino. From this measurement we extract |Vub|=(4.33±0.24exp±0.15theo) ×10-3 as the arithmetic average of four results obtained from four different QCD predictions of the partial rate. We separately determine partial branching fractions for B̄0 and B-decays and derive a limit on the isospin breaking in B̄→Xulν̄ decays. © 2012 American Physical Society.
