The study aimed to investigate the effects of Reader's Theater on EFL learners' English reading comprehension. The roles of English learning anxiety and learning styles in the RT instruction were also explored. Mixed methods research was conducted to collect and analyze quantitative and qualitative data. The subjects were 11 graders in a senior high school in New Taipei City. There were 25 students in the experimental group and 26 in the control group, and the total number of students was 51. Experiment group received RT instruction for 16 periods in 16 weeks, while the control group was distributed with the same scripts without RT instruction as outside reading. Reading tests based on scripts were adopted to examine the difference of learners' reading comprehension with RT instruction intervention. Questionnaires of Foreign Language Classroom Anxiety and learning styles were conducted to realize the correlations among learners. To understand students' views on RT instruction, 24 subjects from the experimental group received an interview. The results of the study indicated that most students thought RT helped improve their reading comprehension. In addition, most students regarded that RT decreased English learning anxiety. However, among the six stages of RT, Instant Reading was the stage that students felt most anxious because they were worried about others' opinions. Finally, the study found that RT was a suitable platform for students with different learning styles. However, RT provided less time for students with visual modality to practice and learn best. It was suggested that instructors adopting RT instruction could use more pictures or graphic organizers.

Abstract Osteoarthritis (OA) in China is gradually becoming an important scientific research area that has had a significant impact on research and development (R&D) activities in the OA field worldwide. This article summarizes the R&D progress related to OA in China in recent years. The National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) is a national funding institution for basic research and plays a critical role in promoting and supporting Chinese scholars’ R&D activities. We collected and analyzed information on NSFC funding in the field of OA from 2010 to 2019, including the amount, the level and the program categories of the funded projects. The data fully demonstrate the important and positive role of the NSFC in supporting free exploration, cultivating research teams and young talent, and boosting OA R&D. In this article, we outline and discuss hot topics in focused areas, key advances in this field and the prospects for progress in OA research in China.

Background and Objectives: Circadian rhythms, the endogenous biological clocks that govern physiological processes, have emerged as pivotal regulators in the development and progression of breast cancer. This comprehensive review delves into the intricate interplay between circadian disruption and breast tumorigenesis from multifaceted perspectives, encompassing biological rhythms, circadian gene regulation, tumor microenvironment dynamics, and genetic polymorphisms. Methods and Results: Epidemiological evidence underscores the profound impact of external factors, such as night shift work, jet lag, dietary patterns, and exercise routines, on breast cancer risk and progression through the perturbation of circadian homeostasis. The review elucidates the distinct roles of key circadian genes, including CLOCK, BMAL1, PER, and CRY, in breast cancer biology, highlighting their therapeutic potential as molecular targets. Additionally, it investigates how circadian rhythm dysregulation shapes the tumor microenvironment, fostering epithelial-mesenchymal transition, chronic inflammation, and immunosuppression, thereby promoting tumor progression and metastasis. Furthermore, the review sheds light on the association between circadian gene polymorphisms and breast cancer susceptibility, paving the way for personalized risk assessment and tailored treatment strategies. Conclusions: Importantly, it explores innovative therapeutic modalities that harness circadian rhythms, including chronotherapy, melatonin administration, and traditional Chinese medicine interventions. Overall, this comprehensive review emphasizes the critical role of circadian rhythms in the pathogenesis of breast cancer and highlights the promising prospects for the development of circadian rhythm-based interventions to enhance treatment efficacy and improve patient outcomes. Background: The remarkable advancements in surgical techniques over recent years have shifted the clinical focus from merely reducing mortality to enhancing the quality of postoperative recovery. The duration of a patient's hospital stay serves as a crucial indicator in evaluating postoperative recovery and surgical outcomes. This study aims to identify predictors of the length of hospital stay for children who have undergone corrective surgery for Ebstein Anomaly (EA). Methods: We conducted a retrospective cohort study on children (under 18 years of age) diagnosed with EA who were admitted for corrective surgery between January 2009 and November 2021 at Fuwai Hospital. The primary outcome was the Time to Hospital Discharge (THD). Cox proportional hazard models were utilized to identify predictors of THD. In the context of time-to-event analysis, discharge was considered an event. In cases where death occurred before discharge, it was defined as an extended THD, input as 100 days (exceeding the longest observed THD), and considered as a non-event. Results: A total of 270 children were included in this study, out of which three died in the hospital. Following the Cox proportional hazard analysis, six predictors of THD were identified. The hazard ratios and corresponding 95% confidence intervals were as follows: age, 1.030(1.005,1.055); C/R > 0.65, 0.507(0.364,0.707); Carpentier type C or D, 0.578(0.429,0.779); CPB time, 0.995(0.991,0.998); dexamethasone, 1.373(1.051,1.795); and transfusion, 0.680(0.529,0.875). The children were categorized into three groups based on the quartile of THD. Compared to children in the ≤ 6 days group, those in the ≥ 11 days group were associated with a higher incidence of adverse outcomes. Additionally, the duration of mechanical ventilation and ICU stay, as well as hospital costs, were significantly higher in this group. Conclusion: We identified six predictors of THD for children undergoing corrective surgery for EA. Clinicians can utilize these variables to optimize perioperative management strategies, reduce adverse complications, improve postoperative recovery, and reduce unnecessary medical expenses. Abstract Used as traditional Chinese medicine, Astragalus membranaceus (Fisch.) Bge. (A. membranaceus) roots are also used as tonic food material in a wide range of applications, while the leaves are left in the field, unused. Therefore, comprehensively exploring and utilizing the leaves will inevitably reduce the associated resource waste and environment pollution. In this study, the plant leaves were processed into tea using green tea processing technology. Bioactive components, antioxidant and antibacterial activities of the Leaf Tea (LT) and Dry Leaves (DL) were studied, and compared to that of the Dry Roots (DR). The results showed that the polysaccharides content (POL) in the DR (20.44%) was twice as high as the DL (10.18%) and LT (8.68%). However, the DL contained 36.85% more water-soluble extracts (WSE), 35.09% more ethanol-soluble extracts (ESE), 409.63% more total flavonoid content (TFC), 221.01% more total phenolic content (TPC) and 94.34% more proteins, and the LT contained 26.21% more WSE, 40.64% more ESE, 326.93% more TFC, 191.90% more TPC and 37.71% more proteins. The total amino acid (AA) content in the DR was 8.89%, while in that of the DL and LT were 24.18% and 28.96% respectively, nearly 3-times higher than that of the DR. The antioxidant activity of DR was much lower than those of DL and LT, both of which had antioxidant activity closer to that of Vitamin C (VC) and the antioxidant activities were even stronger when the optimal concentration was reached. Except for Aspergillus niger and Staphylococcus aureus, the DL and DR exhibited inhibition activities to Salmonella, Bacillus subtilis, Escherichia coli and yeast, while the LT had antimicrobial activities against all the strains except for A. niger. In summary, compared with the most commonly used DR, the DL and LT from A. membranaceus contained higher bioactive components, and stronger antioxidant and antimicrobial activities. Producing leaf tea may be an appropriate way to economically and reasonably utilize the plant leaves which are by-products.

BackgroundDiabetes is a common metabolic disease that is associated with gut microbiota dysbiosis and iron metabolism. Salidroside (SAL) is the main ingredient of the traditional Chinese herb Rhodiola, previous studies have shown that SAL could reshape the gut microbiota and limit iron accumulation. Therefore, it is possible that SAL can act as an alternative therapy for diabetes, and its underlying mechanism is worth exploring.MethodsSAL was used to treat diabetic db/db mice. Serum glucose and iron levels and the histopathology of myocardial fibres were evaluated. The gut microbiota composition was determined by 16S rRNA Illumina sequencing technology.ResultsTreatment with SAL significantly reduced blood glucose and ameliorated diabetic cardiomyopathy in diabetic db/db mice, which was accompanied by inhibited ferroptosis and iron accumulation. Furthermore, the 16S rRNA sequencing results showed that SAL induced a change in the gut microbiota composition. Overall, SAL could increase the proportion of probiotic bacteria and decrease Lactobacillus to improve gut microbiota. Specifically, SAL increased the ratio of Bacteroidetes to Firmicutes in diabetic mice. The most significant biomarker was the genus Lactobacillus between the MD group and the SAL group. In addition, COG and KEGG analyses suggested that SAL mainly participated in nutrient metabolism, among them iron metabolism was associated with the abundance of Lactobacillus.ConclusionsSAL could reduce the glucose level and protect against diabetic cardiomyopathy in diabetic mice, which might be mediated by the change in the gut microbiota and the regulation of iron metabolism. The findings suggested that SAL was a promising complementary option for diabetes therapy.

Di (2-ethyl-hexyl) phthalate (DEHP) is a wildly used plasticizer. Maternal exposure to DEHP during pregnancy blocks the placental cell cycle at the G2/M phase by reducing the efficiency of the DNA repair pathways and affects the health of offsprings. However, the mechanism by which DEHP inhibits the repair of DNA damage remains unclear. In this study, we demonstrated that DEHP inhibits DNA damage repair by reducing the activity of the DNA repair factor recruitment molecule PARP1. NAD+ and ATP are two substrates necessary for PARP1 activity. DEHP abated NAD+ in the nucleus by reducing the level of NAD+ synthase NMNAT1 and elevated NAD+ in the mitochondrial by promoting synthesis. Furthermore, DEHP destroyed the mitochondrial respiratory chain, affected the structure and quantity of mitochondria, and decreased ATP production. Therefore, DEHP inhibits PARP1 activity by reducing the amount of NAD+ and ATP, which hinders the DNA damage repair pathways. The supplement of NAD+ precursor NAM can partially rescue the DNA and mitochondria damage. It provides a new idea for the prevention of health problems of offsprings caused by DEHP injury to the placenta.

Background Primary breast diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (PB-DLBCL) is a rare subtype of non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) with limited data on the clinical features and prognostic factors. Patients and Methods A consecutive cohort of patients with PB-DLBCL was retrospectively analyzed in our hospital from February 1997 through July 2018. The primary endpoint is overall survival (OS) contributing to any cause. Results A total of 76 patients were diagnosed with PB-DLBCL. The median age at diagnosis was 51 years (range: 25-80 years), with female prevalence (98.7%). Forty (52.6%) patients had right-sided breast involvement but no bilateral breast involvement at diagnosis. Overall, disease stages IE and IIE were seen in 55 (72.4%) and 21 (27.6%) patients, respectively. According to the stage-modified International Prognostic Index (IPI), 37 (48.7%) patients were classified in the very good risk group (IPI 0). Of the 72 patients available, the non-germinal center B-cell (non-GCB) subtype of DLBCL was observed in 66 (91.6%) patients. All patients received anthracycline-based chemotherapy, 56 (73.7%) with rituximab, 31 (40.8%) also with additional radiation therapy, and 14 (18.4%) patients received a prophylactic intrathecal injection. Seven (9.2%) patients had refractory disease. With a median follow-up of 6.8 years (range 0.4-25.0 years), 10 (13.2%) patients had a relapse in the central nervous system (CNS) site. The 5-year and 10-year OS of all the patients was 97.2% (95% CI: 99.3-89.5) and 84.8% (95% CI: 70.0-93.5), respectively. The median OS was not reached. The median progression-free survival (PFS) was 10.3 years for patients with PB-DLBCL(Figure 2B). The 5-year PFS of all the patients was 76.3% (95% CI: 64.6-84.6). Univariate analysis revealed several prognostic factors, including stage-modified IPI, breast surgery, refractory disease, and CNS relapse. Multivariate analyses produced two independent prognostic factors for patients with PB-DLBCL, including stage-modified IPI score (2-3 versus 0) (hazard ratio: 19.114, 95% CI 1.841 to 198.451, p=0.013) and CNS relapse (hazard ratio: 5.522, 95% CI 1.059 to 28.788, p=0.043). Conclusion In our cohort, PB-DLBCL clinical features are similar to prior literature reports. Stage-modified IPI score and CNS relapse were associated with overall survival.

Abstract Background Currently, there are no circulating diagnostic biomarkers for gastric neuroendocrine neoplasms (g-NENs). In previous studies, we found that miRNA-202-3p is overexpressed in the tumour tissue of type 1 g-NEN. We speculated that miRNA-202-3p is also likely to be highly expressed in circulating blood. Methods A total of 27 patients with type 1 g-NEN and 27 age- and sex-matched control participants were enrolled in this study. The miRNA-202-3p levels in serum obtained from the participants were measured by qRT‐PCR. The expression level of miRNA-202-3p in the samples was calculated by comparison with a standard curve. Results The clinical characteristics of the patients were similar to those of the patient samples in previous reports. Expression of miRNA-202-3p was significantly higher in the patient group (3.84 × 107 copies/nl) than in the control group (0.635 × 107 copies/nl). The area under the ROC curve (AUC) was 0.878 (95% CI: 0.788–0.968), and the optimal cut-off point was approximately 1.12 × 107 copies/nl. The sensitivity and specificity were 88.9% and 77.8%, respectively. Conclusion This study suggests that miRNA-202-3p is potentially useful as a biomarker of type 1 g-NEN; further investigation and verification should be performed in future research.

BackgroundIntrauterine adhesionis caused by a variety of reasons, such as damage of the endometrial basal layer, adhesion or occlusion of the uterine cavity or cervix in different degrees. Seriously endangering women's physical and mental health.ObjectiveThe purpose of this paper is to analyze the research development of intrauterine adhesions in recent 15 years, explore the future development direction, and promote the development of this field.MethodsWith intrauterine adhesions and Ashman's syndrome as the theme, the related literatures from January 2006 to July 2021 in the Web of Science were searched, and the visual atlas was analyzed by CiteSpace software.ResultsA total of 644 literatures were included. The key words related to intrauterine adhesion mainly include adhesion, pregnancy, expression, intrauterine adhesions, women, adhesion molecule, diagnosis, activation, hysteroscopy and fertility, etc. Six clusters were obtained by keywords analysis, involving hysteroscopy, placenta, office hysteroscopy, uterus and laparoscopy. Co-occurrence of keywords shows that the research focus in recent years is on endometrial repair and regeneration.ConclusionsThrough the bibliometric analysis of WOS research on intrauterine adhesions in recent 15 years, the comprehensive analysis of countries, institutions, authors and keywords is obtained, which has a clear guiding significance for guiding the future development of intrauterine adhesions.

Abstract Despite advantages of arsenic trioxide (ATO) in oncological practice, its clinical applications have been hampered by severe cardiotoxicity. The general mechanism of ATO‐induced cardiotoxicity has been attributed to its damage to mitochondria, resulting in cardiac remodeling. Honokiol (HKL) is a naturally occurring compound derived from Magnolia bark. Previous studies have demonstrated that HKL exerts cardio‐protective effects on ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) or chemical‐induced cardiotoxicity by counteracting the toxic effects on mitochondria. The present study was conducted to investigate whether HKL pretreatment protects against ATO‐induced cardiac oxidative damage and cell death. For the in vitro study, we evaluated the effects of ATO and/or Honokiol on reactive oxygen species (ROS) production and apoptosis induction in primary cultured cardiomyocytes; for the in vivo study, BALB/c mice were administrated with ATO and/or HKL for a period of 4 weeks, myocardial apoptosis, cardiac function, and cardiac remodeling (cardiac hypertrophy and cardiac fibrosis) were assessed at the end of administration. Our results demonstrated Honokiol pretreatment alleviated the ATO‐induced boost in ROS concentration and the following apoptosis induction in primary cultured cardiomyocytes. In the mouse model, Honokiol pretreatment ameliorated ATO‐induced myocardial apoptosis, cardiac dysfunction, and cardiac remodeling. Collectively, these results indicated that Honokiol provide a protection against ATO‐induced cardiotoxicity by reducing mitochondrial damage. In addition, given that Honokiol has shown considerable suppressive effects on leukemia cells, our data also imply that ATO and Honokiol combination may possibly be a superior avenue in leukemia therapy.

To determine a vertical cooperation strategy and address the optimal pricing problem of the electric vehicle (EV) supply chain, a supply chain system consisting of two competing EV manufacturers (M1 and M2) and a battery supplier is studied. Firstly, three cooperation strategy models were constructed for the battery supplier and the EV manufacturers, namely: Strategy N (neither the battery supplier nor the two manufacturers cooperate with each other); Strategy I (M1 cooperates with the battery supplier); and Strategy II (M2 cooperates with the battery supplier). Then, the Stackelberg solution method was used to obtain the optimal equilibrium decisions under the three strategic models. Finally, the effect of the preference coefficient of consumers for leasing EVs per unit on the optimal equilibrium decision was analyzed. We found that: (1) The wholesale price of batteries provided by the battery supplier to M1 is always greater than to M2. (2) Strategies I and II prompt M1 and M2 to reduce the unit and fixed rental prices of EVs to some extent, while intensifying the competition between the two manufacturers in terms of EV lease prices. (3) When the consumer preference coefficient (θ) for leasing EVs per unit provided by manufacturer M1 is relatively small, the cooperation alliance S2 and the supply chain achieve the maximum profit under Strategy II; however, while θ is large, M1, cooperative alliance S1, and the entire supply chain could benefit the most under Strategy I. Capillary electrophoresis with capacitively coupled contactless conductivity detection (CE-C4D) has the advantages of high throughput (simultaneous detection of multiple ions), high separation efficiency (higher than 105 theoretical plates) and rapid analysis capability (less than 5 min for common inorganic ions). A compact CE-C4D system is ideal for water quality control and on-site analysis. It is suitable not only for common cations (e.g. Na+, K+, Li+, NH4+, Ca2+, etc.) and anions (e.g. Cl−, SO42−, BrO3−, etc.) but also for some ions (e.g. lanthanide ions, Pb2+, Cd2+, etc.) that require complex derivatization procedures to be detected by ion chromatography (IC). However, an obvious limitation of the CE-C4D method is that its sensitivity (e.g. 0.3–1 μM for common inorganic ions) is often insufficient for trace analysis (e.g. 1 ppb or 20 nM level for common inorganic ions) without preconcentration. For this technology to become a powerful and routine analytical technique, the system should be made compact while maintaining trace analysis sensitivity. In this study, we developed an all-in-one version of the CE-C4D instrument with custom-made modular components to make it a convenient, compact and high-performance system. The system was designed using direct digital synthesis (DDS) technology to generate programmable sinusoidal waveforms with any frequency for excitation, a kilovolt high-voltage power supply for capillary electrophoresis separation, and an "effective" differential C4D cell with a low-noise circuitry for high-sensitivity detection. We characterized the system with different concentrations of Cs+, and even a low concentration of 20 nM was detectable without preconcentration. Moreover, the optimized CE-C4D setup was applied to analyse mixed ions at a trace concentration of 200 nM with excellent signal-to-noise ratios. In typical applications, the limits of detection based on the 3σ criterion (without baseline filtering) were 9, 10, 24, 5, and 12 nM for K+, Cs+, Li+, Ca2+, and Mg2+, respectively, and about 7, 6, 6 and 6 nM for Br−, ClO4−, BrO3− and SO42−, respectively. Finally, the setup was also applied for the analysis of all 14 lanthanide ions and rare-earth minerals, and it showed an improvement in sensitivity by more than 25 times. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Shenlian (SL) decoction is a herbal formula composed of Coptis and ginseng, of which berberine and ginsenoside are the main constituents. Even though SL decoction is widely used in treating diabetes in China, the mechanism of its antidiabetes function still needs further study. Gut microbiota disorder is one of the important factors that cause diabetes. To explore the effect of SL decoction on intestinal microbiota, gut microbiota of mice was analyzed by sequencing the gut bacterial 16S rRNA V3+V4 region and metagenomics. In this study, results demonstrated that SL decoction had a better hypoglycemic effect and β cell protection effect than either ginseng or Coptis chinensis. Alpha diversity analysis showed that all interventions with ginseng, Coptis, and SL decoction could reverse the increased diversity and richness of gut microbiota in db/db mice. PCoA analysis showed oral SL decoction significantly alters gut microbiota composition in db/db mice. 395 OTUs showed significant differences after SL treatment, of which 37 OTUs enriched by SL decoction showed a significant negative correlation with FBG, and 204 OTUs decreased by SL decoction showed a significant positive correlation with FBG. Results of KEGG analysis and metagenomic sequencing showed that SL decoction could reduce the Prevotellaceae, Rikenellaceae, and Helicobacteraceae, which were related to lipopolysaccharide biosynthesis, riboflavin metabolism, and peroxisome, respectively. It could also upregulate the abundance of Bacteroidaceae, which contributed to the metabolism of starch and sucrose as well as pentose-glucuronate interconversions. In the species level, SL decoction significantly upregulates the relative abundance of Bacteroides_acidifaciens which showed a significant negative correlation with FBG and was reported to be a potential agent for modulating metabolic disorders such as diabetes and obesity. In conclusion, SL decoction was effective in hypoglycemia and its mechanism may be related to regulating gut microbiota via upregulating Bacteroides_acidifaciens.

Summary: Objective: To summarize the representative scientific achievements in the past decade, and discuss the future challenges and directions for orthopaedic research in China. Methods: In this review, we used the data provided by National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) for analysis. Results: Over the last decade, NSFC has initiated various research programs with a total funding of over 1149 million RMB to support orthopaedic exploration. Under the strong support of NSFC, great progresses have been made in basic research, talent training, platform construction and the clinical translation in the field of orthopaedics in China. Conclusion: In general, since the establishment of the Department of Health Sciences of NSFC 10 years ago, both the amount of funding and the scale of researchers in the field of orthopaedic research have increased substantially. Despite of several shortcomings in orthopaedic research, with continuous support from NSFC both in funding and in policy, we believe that the orthopaedic research in China will surely make steady and significant progress. The translational potential of this article: This article summarizes the representative scientific achievements in the past decade and puts forward the future challenges and directions for orthopaedic research in China.

Abstract Background The schizothoracine fishes, an excellent model for several studies, is a dominant fish group of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau (QTP). However, species populations have rapidly declined due to various factors, and infection with Echinorhynchus gymnocyprii is cited as a possible factor. In the present study, the molecular characteristics of E. gymnocyprii in four species of schizothoracine fishes from the QTP were explored. Methods We investigated the infection status of E. gymnocyprii in 156 schizothoracine fishes from the upper Yangtze River, upper Yellow River, and Qinghai Lake in Qinghai Province, China. The complete internal transcribed spacer (ITS) of the ribosomal RNA (rRNA) gene and part of the mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase subunit 1 (cox1) gene of 35 E. gymnocyprii isolates from these fishes were sequenced and their characteristics analyzed. In addition, we inferred phylogenetic relationships of the E. gymnocyprii populations based on the rRNA-ITS and cox1 sequences. Results The total prevalence of E. gymnocyprii in schizothoracine fishes was 57.69% (90/156). However, the prevalence among different species as well as that across the geographical locations of the schizothoracine fishes was significantly different. The results of sequence analysis showed that the four E. gymnocyprii populations from different hosts and regions of Qinghai Province were conspecific, exhibiting rich genetic diversity. Phylogenetic analysis based on rRNA-ITS and cox1 sequences supported the coalescence of branches within E. gymnocyprii; the cox1 gene of E. gymnocyprii populations inferred some geographical associations with water systems. In addition, three species of schizothoracine fishes were recorded as new definitive hosts for E. gymnocyprii. Conclusions To the best of our knowledge, this is the first molecular description of E. gymnocyprii populations in schizothoracine fishes from the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau that provides basic data for epidemiological surveillance and control of acanthocephaliasis to protect endemic fish stocks.

Abstract Background The incidence of brucellosis, which is caused by the Brucella species of bacteria, is rapidly rising worldwide; however, few studies have investigated the immune response to this pathogen and clinical biochemical features. In this paper, we examined the levels of various cytokines and inflammatory factors as well as clinical course characteristics in patients with brucellosis, in order to provide evidence for the diagnosis, assessment, and prognosis of this infectious disease. Methods A total of 191 brucellosis inpatients (50 acute cases and 141 chronic cases), as well as 60 healthy control subjects, were included in the analysis. We investigated changes in the levels of six cytokines (IL-4, IL-6, IL-10, IL-17, TNF-α, INF-γ) and related clinical biochemical markers in patients with acute and chronic brucellosis in Xinjiang, China. Possible factors were statistically analyzed using the t test, χ 2 test, z test and a multivariate logistic stepwise regression test. Objective: The objective of this study is to investigate the effect of mild moxibustion on quality of life of patients with type 2 diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN). Materials and Methods: Fifty-five patients with type 2 DPN from October 2018 to July 2019 were recruited in the present study and randomly divided into two groups: 27 cases in the control group and 28 cases in the intervention group. The control group received routine treatment of hypoglycemic, hypotensive, mecobalamin nutritional nerve, while the intervention group received mild moxibustion on the basis of the control group. The course of treatment for both groups was 10 weeks. The quality of life of the two groups was assessed using short form-36 health survey and compared with t-test at 0.05 significance level. Results: The total score of the short form-36 in the intervention group was higher than the control group (P < 0.05); the scores of bodily pain, physical functioning (PF), general health (GH), and mental health dimensions in the intervention group increased significantly compared with the control group (P < 0.05); the scores of role physical, social functioning (SF), vitality, and role-emotional (RE) dimensions showed no between-group difference (P > 0.05). Conclusion: Mild moxibustion can effectively improve the quality of life of patients with type 2 DPN, relieve patient pain symptoms, and improve PF and GH.
