Pottery appearance investigation in the Dnepr-Dvina basin in the 7th-6th mill BC, its development and cultural traditions formation was the main subject of this paper. Several ceramic traditions existed here during early neolithic were distinguished. Their different origin, analogies with other various ceramic assemblages of Eastern Europe and the scheme of relative and absolute chronology were established. The analysis of 14C dates, spatial analysis, and analysis of distribution of vessels attributed to different ceramic phases on archaeological sites became the basis for relative and absolute chronology elaborated for this region. Also different other aspects were regarded, such as vessels’ function, technological, morphological and decor traditions, which reflected paflicularities of local cultures and processes of interaction between different communities. An important part of the thesis was devoted to the study of the place of early neolithic ceramic traditions of Dnepr-Dvina region in the context of ceramic assemblages of Eastern Europe. Thus severals models of neolithisation were proposed for this territory, also specifity of it was described. We might suppose transfer of only some components of ceramic traditions, and not the whole complex on new territories. Ceramic traditions of some of their particular constituents existed in different areas located far away from each other could indicate some commun cultural milieu, that united societies attributed now to different archaeological cultures., L‘étude de l'apparition de la poterie dans Dnepr-Dvina bassin au 7-6 millénaires av.

The latest advances and challenges in wetland archaeology will be presented in NEENAWA Scientific Meeting with the contribution of more than 20 participants from Switzerland, Russia, Ukraine, France, Holland, Greece, Lithuania, Slovenia and Macedonia. Numerous prehistoric sites from East, Central and Southeast Europe will be elaborated with particular focus on the pile dwellings, chronology, networks, agricultural societies, underwater archaeology, wetlands, inland waters, wooden structures, house models, bone tools and conservation. Special session with workshops on dendrochronology will be performed in order to introduce thoroughly the benefits of this scientific method and its incorporation within wetland archaeology. As an area with large number of wooden pile dwellings Lake Ohrid is a perfect setting for such workshop and discussions on experiences and challenges with dendrochronology., SNF - SCOPES project "Network in East European Neolithic and Wetland Archaeology for the Improvement of Field Techniques and Dating Methods" (2015-2018)

Early Holocene ,lithic assemblage ,Eastern Europe ,Neolithic ,neolithization - Abstract
One of the most important issues in the study of ecological systems is to determine the nature of the changes that occurred during the transition from the Late Pleistocene to the Holocene. Prolonged existence of hunters in periglacial area in a relatively soft period of Late Pleistocene, around 18-13 k years BP, caused a high adaptation level of Upper Palaeolithic population to natural conditions. At this time there was flourishing of a culture of prehistoric societies, which was manifested in the spread of certain economic systems based on the availability of faunal resources and specific forms of architecture and original art. But significant landscape changes that occurred on the border of the Pleistocene - Holocene forced people to find new ways of managing and acquire new resources, which is reflected in the nature of material culture. The process of neolithization that in some regions of the Oecumene took the character of a “Neolithic revolution” was one of the global processes that influenced the development of all mankind. The Neolithic era should be considered as a significant increase in the capacity to conduct various forms of societies’ life-sustaining activity as a result of the liberation from natural determinism in behavior after the fundamental changes in the natural environment at the end of the Pleistocene., SNF-SCOPES project "Network in Eastern European Neolithic and Wetland Archeology for the improvement of field techniques and dating methods" (NEENAWA), {"references":["Shydlovskyi, P.S., Lysenko, S.D., Kyrylenko, O.S., Sorokun, A.A., Pichkur, Ye.V. scientific seminar ,Balkans ,Eastern Europe ,Neolithic - Abstract
The general aims of the IP were to build up a scientific network in Neolithic and wetland archaeology and the transfer of knowledge from Switzerland, as one of the worldwide leading countries in this field, to the participating Eastern European (EE) countries. Further aims were to concentrate on an improvement of archaeological field techniques (mainly underwater archaeology/ documentation under water/diving security) and dating methods. The combined application of locally developed dendrochronological calendars and radiocarbon dating is most promising. All EE-sites have the potential to give new insights on the process of the Neolithisation of Europe. In order to achieve these goals, joint activities, such as workshops, seminars, public lectures, field trips, diving courses and study weeks, were organised in the individual countries within framework of the NEENAWA project., SNF-SCOPES project "Network in Eastern European Neolithic and Wetland Archeology for the improvement of field techniques and dating methods" (NEENAWA), {"references":["Dolbunova, E., Hafner, A., Nielsen, E., Mazurkevich, A., Dolbunova, E., Naumov, G., Morozova, Y., Shydlovskyi, P (2015). 930 History of ancient world (to ca. 499) ,580 Plants (Botany) - Abstract
The prehistoric lake dwellings of Switzerland, Germany, and Austria have been known for more than 150 years. Of these, 111 were awarded UNESCO World Cultural Heritage status in 2011. Mainly dating from the Neolithic (including the Chalcolithic or Copper Age) and the Bronze Age, lacustrine settlements represent an early phase of sedentarisation in the northern foothills of the Alps. Despite much significant research on the material culture, settlement dynamics, economy, and ecology, the focus has hitherto almost exclusively been on the classic sites situated on the larger northern pre-Alpine lakes in the so-called Three Lakes region of western Switzerland and on the Lakes of Geneva, Zurich, and Constance. The international and interdisciplinary research project ’Beyond lake villages: studying Neolithic environmental changes and human impact on small lakes in Switzerland, Germany and Austria’ was launched in 2015 and is jointly funded by the Swiss (SNF), German (DFG), and Austrian (FWF) National Science Foundations. Research teams in prehistoric archaeology and palaeoecology from the universities of Bern, Basel, Vienna, and Innsbruck as well as the cultural heritage management authorities of the German State of Baden-Württemberg and the Swiss Cantons of Bern and Solothurn are concentrating their efforts on three Neolithic settlement areas on the Swiss Plateau, the German Westallgäu, and the Austrian Salzkammergut. Research is focused on small, deep lakes and their immediate surroundings, with the aim of obtaining new highresolution data on the natural environment and human impact on the landscape. Our ongoing palaeoecological investigations have confirmed that small, deep lakes such as Burgäschisee and Moossee in Switzerland preserve laminated annual sediments that have enormous potential for generating high-resolution, diachronic data on vegetation, palaeoclimate, and human impact. Through the integration of wetland archaeology and palaeoecology, we hope to generate new data and models that will help to understand the variability of human impact on landscapes, especially the environmental interactions of Neolithic societies in the circum-Alpine region. The overall aim of the project is to gain a better understanding of large-scale processes of adaptation and anthropogenic impact over time.

lithic tools ,Neolithic Archaeology ,Linear-band ceramic culture ,Precucuteni-Trypillia A ,lithic assemblage ,microliths - Abstract
Flint products are the most massive material on the sites of early-agricultural groups and demonstrate the traditional component, which is less responsive to external influences, as opposed to other categories of material culture. Tools are directly related to the provision of food production and therefore in the most vivid form demonstrate the cultural adaptation of the group to the requirements of the type of farming. In order to determine the degree of affinity between the two early-agricultural communities of Middle Dniester which are traditionally considered evolutionarily related, a comparative analysis of technical and typological features of the two lithic assemblages was conducted: Yosypivka I (LBK) and Bernashivka I (Precucuteni-Trypillia A). Both collections are rather representative and come from residential areas of settlements. Despite some similarity in their typological and statistical indexes, a detailed analysis reveals a significant difference between technological features, the nature of raw materials provision and microlithic set. Significant difference in technology between two settlements is a consequence of different economic orientation, different level of interaction of groups and different sources of both industries. In general, the lithic assemblage of Trypillia A does not reveal an evolutionary affinity with the assemblages of LBK, Boian and the classic Krish of Balkans. Largely, early Tripillian materials are closer to those of the late BDK and Krish of Moldova, which manifests in the use of local deposits of raw materials, using a regular blade as a blank for insets. However, the use of microburin technology for making microliths is a striking feature of Bernashivka, which distinguishes this settlement from among other early-agricultural sites. It is possible that such character of the Trypillian A industry indicates a certain isolation of groups in the conditions of migration. Features in flint processing may be explained by the fact that migrants often form a narrow group, which is not a carrier of a full set of characteristics of the “mother” culture.
