53. IMPLEMENTASI METODE ANALISA PULSA WIM (WEIGH IN MOTION) PADA PENGUKURAN BEBAN KENDARAAN BERGERAK BERBASIS MIKROKONTROLER

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk merancang dan membuat sebuah sistem yang dapat mengukur beban kendaraan bergerak berbasis mikrokontroler. Sistem ini terdiri atas 4 komponen utama yaitu sensor Load Cell yang digunakan untuk mengukur berat kendaraan, 2 buah rangkaian sensor Infra Merah yang digunakan sebagai penanda awal dan akhir posisi kendaraan bergerak, Mikrokontroler sebagai tempat pengolahan metode analisa pulsa WIM (Weigh In Motion), dan LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) yang digunakan untuk menampilkan hasil pengukuran berat dan kecepatan kendaraan. Pengukuran berat kendaraan bergerak dimulai ketika kendaraan bergerak melewati sensor Infra Red pertama menuju sensor Infra Red kedua. Setelah kendaraan melewati sensor Infra Red kedua maka proses penghitungan berat WIM akan dikerjakan oleh mikrokontroler dengan nilai berat dalam satuan gram (g). Pengujian sistem dilakukan dengan mengisi beban berat 100 g, 200 g, 300 g, 400 g, 500 g, 600 g, 700 g, 800 g dan 900 g. Setelah dilakukan pengujian dari tiap variasi beban sebanyak 10 kali percobaan, dengan menampilkan hasil berat dan kecepatan pada LCD, maka dapat di simpulkan bahwa nilai error terkecil terjadi pada kondisi kendaraan diisi dengan muatan/beban 400 g adalah saat kendaraan melaju dengan kecepatan 0,12 m/s pada perhitungan mikrokontroler dan pada perhitungan manual kendaraan melaju dengan kecepatan 0.63 m/s adalah sebesar 5.57 %. Abstract

Anisotropic adaptive methods based on a metric related to the Hessian of the solution are considered. We propose a metric targeted to the minimization of interpolation error gradient for a nonconforming linear finite element approximation of a given piecewise regular function on a polyhedral domain Ω of ℝ d , d ≥ 2. We also present an algorithm generating a sequence of asymptotically quasi-optimal meshes relative to such a nonconforming discretization and give numerical asymptotic behavior of the error reduction produced by the generated mesh

Abstract

International audience; We give an a posteriori error estimator for nonconforming finite element approximations of diffusion-reaction and Stokes problems, which relies on the solution of local problems on stars. It is proved to be equivalent to the energy error up to a data oscillation, without requiring Helmholtz decomposition of the error nor saturation assumption. Numerical experiments illustrate the good behavior and efficiency of this estimator for generic elliptic problems.

Abstract

A non-standard Equilibrium Method to solve some elliptic problems with non-standard boundary conditions is presented. A conforming primal variational formulation is used on the boundary, whereas an equilibrium one is established on the domain. One hereby obtains a coupled system, in which all matching conditions remain implicit. Existence and uniqueness results of the approximate solution are given, and the convergence rate of the method is specified for a model problem.

Abstract

A new space-time domain decomposition method (STDDM) is presented. The space-time domain is partitioned in subdomains, and different discretizations are used in each space-time subdomain. Time-integration in space-time variational methods is derived in a different manner from what has been presented so far-it is contained in the time-discontinuous shape functions. This method provides the same rate of convergence as the classical methods, and numerical performance is illustrated on typical one-dimensional linear and non-linear problems, in the particular choice of spectral element type discretization on each subdomain.

Abstract

International audience; This paper is concerned with solving Cauchy problem for elliptic equation by minimizing an energy-like error functional and by taking into account noisy Cauchy data. After giving some fundamental results, Cauchy problem is presented as an optimal control problem. Numerical convergence analysis is carried out and leads to an adapted stopping criteria for the minimization process depending on noise rate. Numerical examples involving smooth and singular data are presented.

Abstract

Snow is a significant element in the climate system and has great impact on ecosystem and economy in the Alps, too. Astonishingly there is still a strong gap between the data potential and the data availability. Caused by the existing deficits we started a digitising, quality evaluation, homogenising and analysing initiative for the Alpine region. For the first time we can present a 21-year (1895-1915) daily, high density dataset that was electronically scanned from historic hydro-yearbooks for recent Austria and additional some surrounding regions in Italy, Slovenia, Croatia and Czech Republic. We hope that our snow initiative will grow to a pan-alpine effort to fill the existing lack of information.

Abstract

Primary squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) of renal parenchyma is a very rare entity although renal pelvic SCC is common. We probably are reporting the third case in a 35 years female presenting with left lumbar pain and weight loss. Lower pole mass was found on contrast enhanced computed tomography (CECT) study of abdomen for which left total nephrectomy was done. Histopathological examination revealed a well differentiated squamous cell carcinoma. Her physical condition did not permit for any adjuvant therapy. Two months after surgery she expired.

Abstract

Snow is a significant element in the climate system and has great impact on ecosystem and economy in the Alps, too. Astonishingly there is still a strong gap between the data potential and the data availability. Caused by the existing deficits we started a digitising, quality evaluation, homogenising and analysing initiative for the Alpine region. For the first time we can present a 21-year (1895-1915) daily, high density dataset that was electronically scanned from historic hydro-yearbooks for recent Austria and additional some surrounding regions in Italy, Slovenia, Croatia and Czech Republic. We hope that our snow initiative will grow to a pan-alpine effort to fill the existing lack of information.

We propose a metric targeted to the minimization of interpolation error gradient for a nonconforming linear finite element approximation of a given piecewise regular function on a polyhedral domain Ω of Rd,d≥2. We also present an algorithm generating a sequence of asymptotically quasi-optimal meshes relative to such a nonconforming discretization and give numerical asymptotic behavior of the error reduction produced by the generated mesh. Numerical experiments are performed to generate mesh minimizing interpolation error gradient of benchmark functions, and nonconforming approximation of solution of a PDE as convection diffusion equation selected for this note. 90. Identification and Distribution of Fungal Pathogens Associated with Loblolly Pine Defoliation and Tree Mortality in the Southeastern United States

Abstract

Loblolly pine (Pinus taeda L.) is a predominant timber species native to the southeastern United States. Since 2016, the species has been experiencing needle defoliation and tree mortality. Symptoms appear as yellowing to progressively browning needles. However, it is uncertain if this disease results from a single or a combination of several fungal pathogens. This study investigated the potential causal agent(s) of this disease as well as pathogen impacts on loblolly pine foliage and foliar chemistry. Climatic regression models were developed to predict loblolly pine defoliation severity in following years. Based on their colony morphology and molecular ITS-rDNA sequence data, a total of 28 species of fungi representing 17 families were recovered from symptomatic loblolly pine needles from five States. Lecanosticta acicola, was repeatedly recovered and identified as the predominant pathogen in Alabama. No sexual stage was observed for L. acicola and only the single mating type MAT-1-1 was recovered which suggests low genetic variation. Other pathogens recovered in the study were Lophodermium spp., Coleoporium spp., Rhizophaera spp., and Diplodia spp. Needle pathogen, L. acicola had substantial effects on loblolly pine foliage and foliar chemistry. Trees with high incidence produced statistically significantly shorter shoots and needles compared to low incidence trees. Needle nutrient contents of N, S, Na, and B showed a positive correlation with L. acicola severity. High incidence trees had an increased level of total phenolics in their needles that correlated to L. acicola infection and severity. Seventy trees at seven long-term monitoring plots showed progressively chlorotic and defoliated crown in Chatom, Alabama, Washington County from 2019 to 2021. The best 5-factor regression model predicted that the previous year’s February, May and June temperature and July and fall precipitation as the best predictors of loblolly pine defoliation severity in following years in Alabama. Increasing summer months temperature and precipitation and decreasing fall months precipitation are expected to favor loblolly pine defoliation severity and spread in following years. Climatic models were developed to aid private landowners and forest managers to monitor, plan and adjust their management strategies accordingly. Brown spot needle blight is an emerging and potentially devastating disease in loblolly pine plantations in Alabama.

Abstract

Droplet-based microfluidics is extensively and increasingly used for high-throughput single-cell studies. However, the accuracy of the cell counting method directly impacts the robustness of such studies. We describe here a simple and precise method to accurately count a large number of adherent and non-adherent human cells as well as bacteria. Our microfluidic hemocytometer provides statistically relevant data on large populations of cells at a high-throughput, used to characterize cell encapsulation and cell viability during incubation in droplets.

Abstract

Bioanalysis: microfluidic-sorters to make better choices Droplet-based microfluidics provides new technologies for cell screening by steering cell-containing microdroplets of interest into different channels at the kilohertz frequency. Until now, in conventional microfluidic sorting, droplets are sorted using electric pulses to move them into one of the two channels. Jean–Christophe Baret from the CNRS and University of Bordeaux in France, Valérie Taly from the CNRS and University of Paris Descartes and Tobias Schneider from EPFL in Switzerland have now boosted dielectrophoretic droplet manipulation to allow for multiple selections in a single device. The teams show how emulsified dye-loaded microdroplets are sorted in five different channels depending on fluorescence intensity: a computer algorithm controls the application of electric pulses to direct the droplets into one of the five channels depending on the fluorescence signals. Numerical models unravel the effect of the dielectrophoretic actuation on the droplet trajectories and are now used to predict the sorting conditions for droplet volumes compatible with single-cell encapsulation.

Abstract

International audience; Large carnivores play a pivotal regulating role in maintaining healthy and balanced ecosystems; however, most of them are rare and elusive, and knowledge about their resource consumption is scarce. Traditional methods based on morphological identification of undigested remains are labor intensive and often not sufficiently accurate, leading to errors and biased ecological inferences. Here, we developed a multi-marker DNA metabarcoding approach to analyze the dietary diversity of giant otters (Pteronura brasiliensis) from fecal DNA while controlling predator species identity. We combined two mitochondrial markers, 12S rRNA and cytochrome c oxidase 1 (COI) gene, that target the full range of potential vertebrate and invertebrate prey. We compiled a local reference database of DNA barcodes for most potentially ingested fish, which were used to evaluate the specificity of the metabarcoding primers in silico. Most prey are identified at the species level (>90%) and the dietary profiles provided independently by the two markers are highly similar, whether in terms of list of prey or frequency of occurrences, hence validating the approach. We detected a higher number of rare fish prey with the 12S primers that amplified solely Teleost species while the degenerate COI primers revealed non-fish prey (e.g., amphibians, snakes, birds, and earthworms) and confirmed predator species identity. This study demonstrated that scat DNA metabarcoding is particularly useful to provide in-depth information on elusive carnivorous dietary profile. Our methodology opens up new opportunities to understand how top carnivores diet cope with the effects of anthropogenic alteration of ecosystems and identify conflicts with humans and livestock.

Abstract

Motivation The crucial role of protein interactions and the difficulty in characterizing them experimentally strongly motivates the development of computational approaches for structural prediction. Even when protein–protein docking samples correct models, current scoring functions struggle to discriminate them from incorrect decoys. The previous incorporation of conservation and coevolution information has shown promise for improving protein–protein scoring. Here, we present a novel strategy to integrate atomic-level evolutionary information into different types of scoring functions to improve their docking discrimination. Results We applied this general strategy to our residue-level statistical potential from InterEvScore and to two atomic-level scores, SOAP-PP and Rosetta interface score (ISC). Including evolutionary information from as few as 10 homologous sequences improves the top 10 success rates of individual atomic-level scores SOAP-PP and Rosetta ISC by 6 and 13.5 percentage points, respectively, on a large benchmark of 752 docking cases. The best individual homology-enriched score reaches a top 10 success rate of 34.4%. A consensus approach based on the complementarity between different homology-enriched scores further increases the top 10 success rate to 40%. Abstract

International audience; Endosymbiotic Wolbachia bacteria are, to date, considered the most widespread symbionts in arthropods and are the cornerstone of major biological control strategies. Such a high prevalence is based on the ability of Wolbachia to manipulate their hosts' reproduction. One manipulation called cytoplasmic incompatibility (CI) is based on the death of the embryos generated by crosses between infected males and uninfected females or between individuals infected with incompatible Wolbachia strains. CI can be seen as a modification-rescue system (or mod-resc) in which paternal Wolbachia produce mod factors, inducing embryonic defects, unless the maternal Wolbachia produce compatible resc factors. Transgenic experiments in Drosophila melanogaster and Saccharomyces cerevisiae converged towards a model where the cidB Wolbachia gene is involved in the mod function while cidA is involved in the resc function. However, as cidA expression in Drosophila males was required to observe CI, it has been proposed that cidA could be involved in both resc and mod functions. A recent correlative study in natural Culex pipiens mosquito populations has revealed an association between specific cidA and cidB variations and changes in mod phenotype, also suggesting a role for both these genes in mod diversity. Here, by studying cidA and cidB genomic repertoires of individuals from newly sampled natural C. pipiens populations harbouring wPipIV strains from North Italy, we reinforce the link between cidB variation and mod phenotype variation fostering the involvement of cidB in the mod phenotype diversity. However, no association between any cidA variants or combination of cidA variants and mod phenotype variation was observed. Taken together our results in natural C. pipiens populations do not support the involvement of cidA in mod phenotype variation.
