57. Factors that control stability, variability, and reliability issues of endurance cycle in ReRAM devices: a phase field study

Abstract

The morphological evolution of the conducting filament (CF) predominantly controls the electric response of the resistive random access memory (ReRAM) devices. However, the parameters -- in terms of the material and the processing -- which control the growth of such CF are plenty. Extending the phase field technique for ReRAM systems presented by Roy and Cha [J. Appl. Phys. 128, 205102 (2020)], we could successfully model the complete SET (low resistance state) and RESET (high resistance state) sates due to the application of sweeping voltage. The key parameters that influence the stability of the multi-cycle \emph{I-V} response or the endurance behavior are identified. The computational findings of the presented model ReRAM system are practical in correlating the multi-parametric influence with the stability, variability, and reliability of the endurance cycle that affect the device performance and also lead to the device failure. We believe that our computational approach of connecting the morphological changes of the CF with the electrical response, has the potential to further understand and optimize the performance of the ReRAM devices.

Abstract

Extensive prior work has shown that colloidal inorganic nanocrystals coated with organic ligand shells can behave as artificial atoms and, as such, form superlattices with different crystal structures and packing densities. Although ordered superlattices present a high degree of long-range positional order, the relative crystallographic orientation of the inorganic nanocrystals with respect to each other tends to be random. Recent works have shown that superlattices can achieve orientational alignment through combinations of nanocrystal faceting and ligand modification, as well as selective metal particle attachment to particular facets. These studies have focused on the assembly of high-symmetry nanocrystals, such as cubes and cuboctahedra. Here, we study the assembly of elliptically faceted CdSe/CdS core/shell nanocrystals with one distinctive crystallographic orientation along the major elliptical axis. We show that the nanocrystals form an unexpectedly well-ordered translational superlattice, with a degree of order comparable to that achieved with higher-symmetry nanocrystals. Additionally, we show that, due to the particles' faceted shape, the superlattice is characterized by an orientational glass phase in which only certain orientations are possible due to entropically frustrated crystallization. In this phase, the nanocrystals do not exhibit a local orientational ordering but rather have distinct orientations that emerge at different locations within the same domain. The distinct orientations are a result of a facet-to-facet lock-in mechanism that occurs during the self-assembly process. These facet-to-facet alignments force the nanocrystals to tilt on different lattice planes forming different projections that we termed apparent polydispersity. Our experimental realization of an orientational glass phase for multifaceted semiconducting nanocrystals can be used to investigate how this phase is formed and how it can be utilized for potential optical, electrical, and thermal transport applications.

83. The Effect of Complete Prostate Examination of Radical Cystoprostatectomy Specimen on the Final Stage of Urothelial Carcinoma of the Urinary Bladder and the Detection of Prostate Cancer

Abstract

Context.--The prostate sampling methods for radical cystoprostatectomy (RCP) specimens may affect pathologic results. Objective.--To investigate the impact on the tumor stage and clinicopathologic features according to the prostate sampling method for RCP specimens. Design.--From 2016 to 2017, the prostate in RCP was minimally and conventionally embedded (group 1, n = 98). From 2017 to 2018, it was completely embedded (group 2, n = 102). Results.--Group 2 was more likely to have prostatic ducts or acini involvement by urothelial carcinoma in situ component (27% versus 10%, P = .002) and prostate involvement (30% versus 13%, P = .003) than group 1. Although there were cases with prostatic stromal invasion in group 2 (14% versus 7%, P = .13), this was not statistically significant. In all, 6 cases were upstaged by subepithelial prostatic stromal invasion through intraurethral extension according to the 8th edition of the American Joint Committee on Cancer (AJCC) staging system. Tumor location and the presence of concurrent carcinoma in situ were strongly associated with prostate involvement of urothelial carcinoma. Prostatic adenocarcinoma (PA) was incidentally identified in 47 cases (23.5%). Incidental PA and clinically significant PA were more often identified in group 2 than group 1 (38% versus 8%, P < .01 and 15% versus 6%, P = .048, respectively). Conclusions.--A complete prostate examination in rCp specimens can be suggested, since the final pathologic stage can be changed through a thorough prostate examination especially in accord with the AJCC staging manual 8th edition. In addition, the complete prostate analysis could detect more incidental and clinically significant PA. 91. Tangent functional canonical correlation analysis for densities and shapes, with applications to multimodal imaging data

Abstract

It is quite common for functional data arising from imaging data to assume values in infinite-dimensional manifolds. Uncovering associations between two or more such nonlinear functional data extracted from the same object across medical imaging modalities can assist development of personalized treatment strategies. We propose a method for canonical correlation analysis between paired probability densities or shapes of closed planar curves, routinely used in biomedical studies, which combines a convenient linearization and dimension reduction of the data using tangent space coordinates. Leveraging the fact that the corresponding manifolds are submanifolds of unit Hilbert spheres, we describe how finite-dimensional representations of the functional data objects can be easily computed, which then facilitates use of standard multivariate canonical correlation analysis methods. We further construct and visualize canonical variate directions directly on the space of densities or shapes. Utility of the method is demonstrated through numerical simulations and performance on a magnetic resonance imaging dataset of Glioblastoma Multiforme brain tumors.

92. Single-shot readout of a driven hybrid qubit in a GaAs double quantum dot

Abstract

We report a single-shot-based projective readout of a semiconductor hybrid qubit formed by three electrons in a GaAs double quantum dot. Voltage-controlled adiabatic transitions between the qubit operations and readout conditions allow high-fidelity mapping of quantum states. We show that a large ratio both in relaxation time vs. tunneling time (~ 50) and singlet-triplet splitting vs. thermal energy (~ 20) allow energy-selective tunneling-based spin-to-charge conversion with readout visibility ~ 92.6%. Combined with ac driving, we demonstrate high visibility coherent Rabi and Ramsey oscillations of a hybrid qubit in GaAs. Further, we discuss the generality of the method for use in other materials, including silicon.

Abstract

Background and Objectives: Owing to the recent reports regarding the efficacy of rhythm step training (RST) in lower limb muscle development and motor skill enhancement, this study aimed to evaluate the effects of RST on foot and lower limb balance in children and adolescents diagnosed with flat feet using radiographic analysis. Materials and Methods: A total of 160 children and adolescents diagnosed with flat feet from a hospital in Seoul were randomly assigned to the general flat feet training (GFFT) (n = 80) or RST (n = 80) group. Patients in both groups exercised for 50 min once a week for 12 weeks. Key variables, such as quadriceps angle (Q-angle), calcaneal pitch angle (CPA), calcaneal–first metatarsal angle (CFMA), and navicular–cuboid overlap ratio (OR) were measured before and after the intervention. Results: Significant improvements in Q-angle (p < 0.001), CPA (p < 0.001), CFMA (p < 0.001), and navicular–cuboid OR (p < 0.001) were observed in the RST group compared to the GFFT group. RST was found to be more effective in normalizing the biomechanical function of the calcaneus and improving lower limb function. Conclusions: RST significantly enhances foot and lower limb balance in children and adolescents with flat feet, suggesting its potential use as an effective intervention for this population. The study did not specifically analyze the effects of various components of rhythm training, such as music, exercise intensity, and frequency, on the outcomes. Further research is needed to determine how each of these elements individually influences the results.
