85. Dual-band rat-race coupler with arbitrary power-split ratios.

Abstract

This study presents a dual-band rat-race coupler featuring two controllable center frequencies with arbitrary power-split ratios. Novel dual-band stub-loaded 90° lines were used to replace the conventional single-band 90° lines according to the required branch impedances for specific power-split ratios. The proposed structure has two degrees of freedom, providing more design flexibility and obtaining short lengths and realizable impedances. This research successfully synthesized a 2.4/5.2 GHz rat-race coupler with a 1:2 power-split ratio at dual bands. The measured results were well-correlated with simulation results. Abstract

This work presents a four-port in-band full-duplex (IBFD) antenna that allows transmitting and receiving two sets of orthogonal co-circularly polarized signals, facilitating IBFD system applications. The single-element antenna is constructed using a six-port isolation network (SPIN) without the need for circulators, helping to reduce cost and facilitate integration. The transmit-receive isolation is accomplished via the isolation of power dividers and the cancellation guided by the coupling path of SPIN. The microwave network analysis method perfectly analyzes the operating mechanism of isolation and orthogonal co-circular polarization. The measured results confirm that this design achieves excellent two sets of orthogonal co-circular polarization. The measured results show that the 10-dB impedance bandwidth is 24.2%, the 3-dB axial-ratio bandwidth is 23.5%, and the measured 30-dB isolation bandwidth is 3.52-4.15 GHz (16.4%) with a maximum isolation of 53.2 dB. 87. A Miniaturized Microstrip Balun Constructed With Two \lambda/8 Coupled Lines and a Redundant Line.

Abstract

This work presents a miniaturized balun consisting of two re-entrant coupled line sections with \sim\lambda/8 length connected by a redundant line with \sim 0.04\lambda length fabricated by planar PCB technology. The structure of the balun was analyzed to obtain the appropriate lengths of couplers and redundant line for the balun realization. An experimental balun operated at S-band was designed and fabricated to verify the proposed structure of balun. The prototype demonstrates a miniaturized dimension of \sim 0.29\lambda\times 0.05\lambda and less than 0.36 dB amplitude imbalance associated with 1.6^\circ phase difference in the frequency range of 2.09 \sim 3.06 GHz (37.7%). The return loss in the operation band is less than -10 dB. The length of the prototype is almost shrunk to nearly half of the traditional balun. [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER]
