52. Multiplex Graph Representation Learning Via Dual Correlation Reduction

Abstract

Recently, with the superior capacity for analyzing the multiplex graph data, self-supervised multiplex graph representation learning (SMGRL) has received much interest. However, existing SMGRL methods are still limited by the following issues: (i) they generally ignore the noisy information within each graph and the common information among different graphs, thus weakening the effectiveness of SMGRL, and (ii) they conduct negative sample encoding and complex pretext tasks for contrastive learning, thus weakening the efficiency of SMGRL. To solve these issues, in this work, we propose a new framework to conduct effective and efficient SMGRL. Specifically, the proposed method investigates the intra-graph and inter-graph decorrelation losses, respectively, for reducing the impact of noisy information within each graph and capturing the common information among different graphs, to achieve the effectiveness. Moreover, the proposed method does not need negative samples for the SMGRL and designs a simple pretext task, to achieve the efficiency. We further theoretically justify that our method achieves the maximal mutual information instead of directly conducting contrastive learning and theoretically justify that our method actually minimizes the multiplex graph information bottleneck, which guarantees the effectiveness. In addition, an extension for semi-supervised scenarios is proposed to fit the case that a few labels are provided in reality. Extensive experimental results verify the effectiveness and efficiency of the proposed method with respect to various downstream tasks.

Abstract

Two dimensional metal–organic framework nanosheets usually have rich active sites and can enhance the photocatalytic performance. Herein, the Cu(I) metal–organic framework, [Cu2·L·Cl2]n (L = 4,4′-bipyridine) (1), and its nanosheets with a lattice thickness of about 5 nm were synthesized by ultrasonic waves. Under visible light irradiation, the nanosheets can rapidly photocatalytically degrade methylene blue (MB) and methyl orange (MO), and their performance is the best under acidic conditions, which can reach 2.00 mg L−1 h−1 and 6.25 mg L−1 h−1, respectively. They are 1.25 and 3.76 times of P25, respectively. In situ electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR), density functional theory (DFT) calculations and electrospray ionization mass spectroscopy (ESI-MS) showed that Cu(I) in the nanosheets was oxidized to Cu(II) during the photocatalytic degradation of organic pollutants, and functional groups with high electronegativity in MB and MO were first broken by the oxidation of ˙OH. 70. Screening method and mechanism of ionic liquid as extractant in fuel extraction desulfurization process.

Abstract

Background: In the production of ultra‐low sulfur fuels, the use of extraction processes to remove sulfides from the fuel has various advantages. The selection of a suitable extractant is key to the extraction process. Ionic liquids (ILs) are known as green solvents and are designable, but there is a wide variety. In this study, an IL screening method was developed based on a conductor‐like screening model‐segment activity coefficient (COSMO‐SAC) model and a fuzzy comprehensive evaluation model. In addition, the feasibility of the method was verified by fuel extraction desulfurization experiments. Finally, the separation mechanism was explored through intermolecular interactions. Results: In this study, suitable extractants were screened from 2400 ILs with 24 anions and 100 cation combinations. Based on the results of the fuzzy comprehensive evaluation model, five ILs were selected; 1‐hexyl‐3‐methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate ([HMIM][PF6]) was selected as the extractant and the single desulfurization rate could reach 72.74%. After four desulphurization experiments, the sulfur content in the model oil decreased from 1200 to 6.98 μg/g. The interaction energy difference between [HMIM][PF6] + BT and [HMIM][PF6] + OC (ΔE = ‐12.8662 kJ·mol−1) is higher than those of the other four extractants. Conclusion: The feasibility of the screened method was verified by the extraction desulfurization experiment. [HMIM][PF6] was selected as the most suitable extractant. Furthermore, by analyzing the weak interaction between ILs and benzothiophene (BT) and n‐octane (OC), it was found that weak hydrogen bonds (HBs) and π–π interactions between [HMIM][PF6] and BT play important roles in the extraction process. © 2022 Society of Chemical Industry (SCI). Abstract

The use of untreated biological soil amendments of animal origin (BSAAO) have been identified as one potential mechanism for the dissemination and persistence of Salmonella in the produce growing environment. Data on factors influencing Salmonella concentration in amended soils are therefore needed. The objectives here were to (i) compare die-off between 12 Salmonella strains following inoculation in amended soil and (ii) characterize any significant effects associated with soil-type, irrigation regimen, and amendment on Salmonella survival and die-off. Three greenhouse trials were performed using a randomized complete block design. Each strain (similar to 4 log CFU/g) was homogenized with amended or non-amended sandy-loam or clay-loam soil. Salmonella levels were enumerated In 25 g samples 0, 0.167 (4 h), 1,2, 4, 7, 10, 14, 21,28, 56, 84, 112, 168, 210, 252, and 336 days post-inoculation (dpi), or until two consecutive samples were enrichment negative. Regression analysis was performed between strain, soil-type, Irrigation, and (i) time to last detect (survival) and (li) concentration at each time-point (die-off rate). Similar effects of strain, irrigation, soil-type, and amendment were identified using the survival and die-off models. Strain explained up to 18% of the variance in survival, and up to 19% of variance In die-off rate. On average Salmonella survived for 129 days in amended soils, however, Salmonella survived, on average, 30 days longer In clay-loam soils than sandy-loam soils [95% Confidence interval (Cl) = 45, 15], with survival time ranging from 84 to 210 days for the individual strains during dally irrigation. When strain- specific associations were investigated using regression trees, S. Javiana and S. Saintpaul were found to survive longer In sandy-loam soil, whereas most of the other strains survived longer In clay-loam soil. Salmonella also survived, on average, 128 days longer when irrigated weekly, compared to daily (Cl = 101, 154), and 89 days longer in amended soils, than non-amended soils (Cl = 61,116). Overall, this study provides insight into Salmonella survival following contamination of field soils by BSAAO. Specifically, Salmonella survival may be strain- specific as affected by both soil characteristics and management practices. These data can assist in risk assessment and strain selection for use in challenge and validation studies.
