Abstract

The effect of quenching temperature on phase structure and magnetocaloric properties of the Mn0.975Fe0.975P0.5Si0.5 alloys are systematically studied by X‐ray diffraction, scanning electron microscope, differential scanning calorimetry, and vibrating sample magnetometer. The Mn0.975Fe0.975P0.5Si0.5 alloys quenched at 1323, 1073, 873, and 673 K are all crystallized in the hexagonal Fe2P‐type phase and the phase fraction of the Fe2P phase increases with the decreases of quenching temperature. As the quenching temperature decreases from 1323 to 673 K, the crystal lattice of alloys expands and the atoms' occupation is more ordered, while the saturation magnetic moment increases from 3.71 to 4.10 μB f.u.−1 The values of thermal hysteresis increase linearly from 30 to 41 K when the quenching temperature is down to 673 K. This enhancement of the first‐order magnetic transition (FOMT) yields the maximum value of magnetic entropy change at 5 T increasing by 36%. To obtain excellent comprehensive properties for (Mn,Fe)2(P,Si) alloys, the methods of doping B element in the Mn0.975Fe0.975P0.5Si0.5 alloy are employed to tune the magnetocaloric properties. Abstract

The ozone/peroxymonosulfate (O3/PMS) system has attracted widespread attention from researchers owing to its ability to produce hydroxyl radicals (•OH) and sulfate radicals (SO4•−) simultaneously. The existing research has shown that the O3/PMS system significantly degrades refinery trace organic compounds (TrOCs) in highly concentrated organic wastewater. However, there is still a lack of systematic understanding of the O3/PMS system, which has created a significant loophole in its application in the treatment of highly concentrated organic wastewater. Hence, this paper reviewed the specific degradation effect, toxicity change, reaction mechanism, various influencing factors and the cause of oxidation byproducts (OBPs) of various TrOCs when the O3/PMS system is applied to the degradation of highly concentrated organic wastewater. In addition, the effects of different reaction conditions on the O3/PMS system were comprehensively evaluated. Furthermore, given the limited understanding of the O3/PMS system in the degradation of TrOCs and the formation of OBPs, an outlook on potential future research was presented. Finally, this paper comprehensively evaluated the degradation of TrOCs in highly concentrated organic wastewater by the O3/PMS system, filling the gaps in scale research, operation cost, sustainability and overall feasibility. Abstract

Background This study aimed to develop mortality-prediction models for patients with Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). Methods The training cohort were consecutive patients with COVID-19 in the First People’s Hospital of Jiangxia District in Wuhan from January 7, 2020 to February 11, 2020. We selected baseline clinical and laboratory data through the stepwise Akaike information criterion and ensemble XGBoost model to build mortality-prediction models. We then validated these models by randomly collecting COVID-19 patients in the Infection department of Union Hospital in Wuhan from January 1, 2020, to February 20, 2020. Results 296 patients with COVID-19 were enrolled in the training cohort, 19 of whom died during hospitalization and 277 were discharged from the hospital. The clinical model developed with age, history of hypertension and coronary heart disease showed AUC of 0.88 (95% CI, 0.80-0.95); threshold, -2.6551; sensitivity, 92.31%; specificity, 77.44% and negative predictive value (NPV), 99.34%. The laboratory model developed with age, high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hsCRP), peripheral capillary oxygen saturation (SpO2), neutrophil and lymphocyte count, D-dimer, aspartate aminotransferase (AST) and glomerular filtration rate (GFR) had a significantly stronger discriminatory power than the clinical model (p=0.0157), with AUC of 0.98 (95% CI, 0.92-0.99); threshold, -2.998; sensitivity, 100.00%; specificity, 92.82% and NPV, 100.00%. In the subsequent validation cohort (N=44), the AUCs (95% CI) were 0.83 (0.68, 0.93) and 0.88 (0.75, 0.96) for clinical model and laboratory model, respectively. Conclusions We developed two predictive models for the in-hospital mortality of patients with COVID-19 in Wuhan and validated in patients from another center.

Abstract

Changes in soil environmental factors and microbial communities of a precious tree species (Ormosia hosiei) plantation with different forest ages are still unclear. Obtaining this information can provide a theoretical basis for scientific forest management. Ormosia hosiei plantations of varying ages (7, 20, and 45 years old) were targeted in Zhejiang Province, China. We collected surface soil (0–20 cm) and analysed the diversity and structural characteristics of soil microbial communities by high-throughput sequencing. Redundancy analysis (RDA) and Spearman correlation analysis revealed soil environmental factors that cause differences in the microbial communities. The soil bacterial community diversity was not significantly affected by stand age, while the Chao and Ace indexes of the fungal community at 20 and 45 years were markedly higher than those at 7 years. The abundance of Proteobacteria in the 45 years was lower than those at 7 and 20 years, while the abundance of Actinobacteria at 7 years was lower than those at 20 and 45 years, and the abundance of Basidiomycota gradually increased with increasing stand age. The RDA and correlation analysis indicated that the soil microbial biomass carbon (MBC), bulk density (SBD), total porosity (STP), and total potassium (TK) were key factors that affected the bacterial communities and had a significant correlation with Actinobacteria. Soil temperature (T), available phosphorus (AP) and forest litter (FL) affected the fungal communities and had a significant correlation with Basidiomycota. In conclusion, forest age did not affect bacterial diversity, but the soil fungal community of the O. hosiei plantation in the middle-aged forest (20 years old) had the highest diversity; there were obvious differences in the composition and structure of soil microorganisms between different forest ages, which may be attributed to the phyla present (e.g., Proteobacteria, Actinobacteria, and Basidiomycota), which may be caused by differences in T, SBD, STP, AP, TK, MBC, and FL.
