A simple Jerk circuit that allows studying chaotic dynamics in terms of theoretical variables x, x, x and x, and their equivalent experimental outputs was modeled and implemented. The designed circuit presented a chaotic behaviour depending on the value of a single parameter A -? 1/RA. The variation of A allowed observing the occurrence of a fork trajectory and its evolution into chaos, facilitating to understand the chaotic behaviour in this easily implementable electrical circuit. Bu tezde; güvenli haberleşme sistemlerinde kullanılabilecek oldukça basit ve yeni bir devre önerilmiştir. R2L2D olarak adlandırılan bu devre; bir direnç, iki bobin, iki diyot ve gerilim kaynağından oluşmaktadır. Bu devrenin dinamik özellikleri hem teorik hem de deneysel olarak araştırılmıştır. Ayrıntılı çalışmalar sonucunda; devrenin, giriş parametreleri olarak tanımladığımız uygulanan gerilimin büyüklüğü ve frekansına göre çok farklı dinamik davranışlar sergilediği görülmüştür. Bunların kaotik veya periyodik olabildiği, bu sebepten uygun giriş parametreleri için elde edilen kaotik sinyallerin kullanılmasıyla; eşzamanlılık ve güvenli haberleşme çalışmalarının geniş bir genlik ve frekansta gerçekleştirilebileceği öngörülmüştür. Devreden alınan kaotik sinyaller düzenli bilgi sinyali ile karıştırılarak düzensiz sinyal önce oluşturulmuş; bu düzensiz sinyalden tersi işlem uygulanarak da orijinal bilgi sinyali elde edilebilmiştir. Bunun için önerilen sistem, hakim, esir, toplayıcı-tersleyici ve çıkarma devrelerinden oluşmaktadır ve hakim ile esir devre bahsi geçen kaotik devrenin kendisidir ve eşzamanlılık öncelikle hakim ve esir devrelerle sağlanmaktadır. Devre, NI Multisim programında kurulmuş ve benzetim sonuçları elde edilmiştir. Benzetimi gerçekleştirilen devre laboratuvar ortamında kurulmuş ve deneysel sonuçlar elde edilmiştir. Hem benzetim hem de deneysel sonuçlar incelendiğinde gizlenen bilgi sinyalinin düşük hata ile yeniden elde edilebildiği görülmüştür. İlaveten, deneysel çalışmada hakim devrenin kaotik çıkış verdiği bazı giriş parametreleri için bilgi sinyalinin çözülebildiği frekans aralığı incelenmiş ve bilgi sinyalinin çözülebilme aralığı grafiksel olarak literatürde ilke kez elde edilmiştir. Ayrıca yeni bir eşzamanlılık fonksiyonu tanıtılarak, bu tarz eşzamanlılığın ne oranda sağlanabildiği de sayısal olarak belirlenmiştir. In this dissertation, a quite simple and new circuit, which can be used in secure communication system, has been proposed. This circuit, namely R2L2D, consists of a resistor, two inductor, two diodes and a voltage source. The dynamic characteristics of that circuit have been explored both theoretically and experimentally. As a result of detailed studies; it has been observed that the circuit exhibits many dynamic behaviors with respect to the amplitude and frequency of the applied voltage, which are defined as input parameters of the circuit. It has been predicted that they could be chaotic or periodic, for this reason, synchronization and secure communication studies could be carried out in a wide amplitude and frequency regime by using chaotic signal obtained for appropriate input parameters. Initially, the irregular signal has been produced by adding chaotic signal obtained from the circuit with the regular information signal; the original information signal could be obtained by applying reverse operation from this irregular signal. The proposed system for that procedure consists of master, slave, adder-invertor and subtraction circuits and master and slave circuit is aforementioned chaotic circuit itself and the synchronization is initially achieved by these master and slave circuits. The circuit has been initially set up in NI Multisim and the simulation results have been handled. Then, the circuit in NI Multisim has been set up in the laboratory and the experimental results have been found. When both simulation and experimental results have been examined, it has been observed that the hidden information signal could be obtained by low errors. Additionally, the frequency range of the decoded information signal has been examined in experimental studies and the decoding range of information signal has been obtained first time in literature graphically. Besides, by introducing a new synchronization order function, what rates of the synchronization can be achieved are determined as numerical values. 124

Chaos and chaotic systems have many fields of applications. One of the popular practical applications is secure communication. Chaotic signals depend on initial conditions very sensitively. Chaos-based secure communication systems have been the alternative of the standard spread-spectrum systems, since they are able to spread the spectrum of the information signals and simultaneously encrypt the information signals with chaotic circuitry which is simple and inexpensive. In this study, the circuit design of the continuous -time autonomous chaotic systems are explained in details based on nonlinear Thomas system(TS_96) which was introduced in 1996. In addition an example of the PSpice-based signal hiding implementation on the Lorenz system is given. The chaotic system equations of TS_96 are obtained, its chaotic circuit is designed, both its circuit design simulated in PSpice and is realized physically. For the signal hiding application with chaotic signal, the Lorenz system are considered, consequently its numerical simulations and electronical circuit simulations are realized in Matlab and PSpice environments.

Memristörün doyma durumunun, kutuplama yönünün filtre davranışına etkisi ve katacağı olanaklar incelenmiştir. Memristör temelli filtrelerde ortaya çıkan harmonik bozulma incelenmiş, memristörün klasik dirençli yapıya oranla devreye getirdiği ilave bozulmaları azaltmak için yöntemler önerilmiştir. İlk incelemeler, dinamik modeller temel alınarak numerik benzetimler yoluyla yapılmıştır. Memristör temelli filtrelerin doğrusal olmayan yapıları ve analitik olarak çözülemez bağıntıları için Maclaurin açılımı ve perturbasyon teorisi kullanılarak yaklaşık analitik modeller ortaya konmuştur. Memristör temelli band-geçiren filtre ile bir EEG işareti filtreleme uygulaması sunulmuştur. Memristör temelli bir zamanlayıcı uygulaması gerçekleştirilmiştir. Memristörün doğrusal sürüklenme hızı temelli modeli kullanılarak ters paralel bağlı iki memristör ile kübik memristör modeli elde edilebildiği Maclaurin açılımı ile gösterilmiştir. Oluşturulan ters paralel bağlı yapı ile Chua devresinde kaotik dinamiğin elde edildiği gösterilmiştir. Memristör temelli Duffing osilatörü gerçeklemesi üzerine iki tasarım sunulmuştur. Kübik tanımlı akı kontrollü memristör bağıntısından yola çıkılarak yük kontrollü kübik tanım bağıntısı elde edilmiştir. Memristörün CMOS gerçeklemesine ilişkin tasarımlar sunulmuştur. İlk yapı DDCC temelli CMOS bloklarla oluşturulmuştur. Bu yapı aynı zamanda tümüyle CMOS yapıda bir kaotik devre oluşturacak şekilde tasarlanmış, bu kaotik devre ile memristör temelli kaotik haberleşme uygulaması gerçekleştirilmiştir. İkinci yapı DTMOS temelli çok düşük gerilimli ve güç tüketimli işlemsel kuvvetlendirici ve çarpıcı yapıları temelli oluşturulmuştur. Elde edilen sonuçlar ve gerçekleştirilen tüm benzetimler ile sunulan analizlerin; tasarımların ve metodolojinin doğruluğu ve başarımı ortaya konmuştur., In the dissertation, analog applications of the fourth fundamental circuit element memristor; analog filters, timers, chaotic circuits, Duffing oscillators with memristors and CMOS schemes for memristors are analyzed, designed and simulated. Some properties of the memristor on filters, such as memristive switching and the polarity of memristor on filter waveforms and total harmonic distortion are examined by using various models of memristor. Some of these filters are unsolvable analytically and to solve them Maclaurin expansion and perturbation theory have been used for the first time. It is shown that the filter components such as gain and quality factor can be adjusted using the memristor. Memristor-based band-pass filter is used for processing real EEG data. A memristor-based timer circuit is proposed. Two anti-parallel connected titanium dioxide memristors are used to implement almost cubic charge-flux characteristic by using Maclaurin expansion and they have been used in the Chua’s circuit to demonstrate their application in a chaos circuit. Two kind of memristor-based Duffing oscillator topologies are designed. Cubic polynomial assumption for charge controlled memristor is also obtained by using flux controlled definition. CMOS based implementations for memristor are presented. Implementation for memristor and chaotic behavior are obtained by using fully CMOS DDCC based circuit. Based on this design, a secure communication application is presented. An ultra low-voltage ultra low-power DTMOS-based design for memristor is proposed. The design is composed of ultra low-voltage, ultra low-power operational amplifier and multiplier. Such that, it can be ensured hiding information signals that used for comminication with the help of chaotic signals and clearly transmitting to the other side.In this thesis, an information about chaotic structures are given and in order to show the properties of chaos computer simulations were made on some of the chaotic tows. In the next section studied on the Tigan and Burke-Shaw chaotic tows which do not have synchronization and secret communication application before.Tigan and Burke-Shaw sytems are simulated in the Matlab-Simulink and Orcad Pspice environments. By establishing Tigan and Burke-Shaw Systems? real electronic circuits the results are compared.Tigan and Burke-Shaw chaotic structures? synchronization modeling are carried out seperately in Matlab-Simulink and Orcad Pspice environments and they are compared.Tigan and Burke-Shaw chaotic systems? information hiding models are carried out by chaotic methof of hiding in the Matlab-Simulink environment. Bugün rastgele sayılar güzel sanatlarda, sosyal bilimlerde ve fen bilimlerinde bir şekilde, az veya çok kullanılmaktadır. Çok uzun rastgele sayı dizileri kullanılarak belirli kodlamalarla ve bilgisayar yardımıyla göze çok hoş gelen resimler veya desenler oluşturulmaktadır. Elektronik ve yazılımsal güvenlik sistemlerinde, haberleşmede rastgele sayıların kullanımı güvenliğin kalbi durumundadır. Bunların yanında istatistikte örneklerin rastgele seçilmesinde, elektronik tasarımda tasarımların test edilmesinde, bilgisayar oyunlarında veya kumar makinelerinde de rastgele sayılar kullanılmaktadır.Kullanım alanına göre rastgele sayıların uzunluğu veya kalitesi veya her ikisi çok büyük öneme sahip olabilmektedir. Rastgele sayılar rastgele sayı üreteçleri (RSÜ'ler) kullanılarak oluşturulur. Rastgele sayıları üretme yöntemine göre RSÜ'ler ?sözde? veya ?gerçek? olmak üzere ikiye ayrılır. Bundan dolayı tasarlanan kaotik devreler, üretim esnasında veya çalışırken parametrelerinde oluşabilecek sapmalara duyarlılığı az olacak şekilde tasarlanmalıdır ve/veya tasarımlar parametrelerde oluşabilecek sapmaları telafi edilebilecek yapıda olmalıdır.Bu tezde sürekli zamanlı kaotik devreleri entropi kaynağı olarak kullanan tümleştirmeye uygun RSÜ tasarımı ele alınmıştır. Bunun için ilk olarak iki adet tümleştirmeye uygun sürekli zamanlı kaotik devre tasarımı yapılmış ve bu devreleri entropi kaynağı olarak kullanan RSÜ'ler ayrık elemanlarla gerçeklenerek devrelerin başarımları incelenmiştir. Ayrık elemanlarla gerçeklenen RSÜ'lerin başarımlarının iyi olduğu belirlenmiştir. Tasarımları yapılan kaotik devreler tümleştirilmiş ve tümleşik devrelerin parametrelerinin tümleştirme sonucunda değişimleri ölçülmüş ve devrelerin beklentiler doğrultusunda çalıştığı belirlenmiştir.Daha sonra tümleşik kaotik devreleri entropi kaynağı olarak kullanan, yüksek hızlarda çıkış verisi oluşturan RSÜ devreleri ayrık elemanlarla gerçeklenmiştir. Bu şekilde gerçeklenmiş RSÜ'lerin başarımlarının iyi olduğu belirlendikten sonra tümleşik iki kaotik devreden davranışı daha kararlı ve parametrelerdeki değişime daha az duyarlı olan kaotik devreyi entropi kaynağı olarak kullanan tamamen tümleşik RSÜ tasarlanmıştır. Tümleşik RSÜ rastgele sayı testlerinden başarıyla geçmiştir.Tasarlanan RSÜ yapıları osilatör örnekleme yöntemine dayanmaktadır. Bu yöntemde yüksek seğirmeye sahip yavaş bir osilatör, seğirmesi çok düşük olan hızlı bir osilatörü örneklemektedir. Burada kullanılan osilatörlerin salınım frekansları oranı 50'nin üzerindeyken testlerden geçer sonuçlar alınırken oran 100'e yaklaştığında sonuçların daha iyi olduğu gözlenmektedir. Yüksek frekanslarda çalışan yapılarda, hızlı osilatörün frekansının çok yüksek olması gerekliliği bu yöntemin kullanımını kısıtlamaktadır.Bu tezde son olarak, osilatör örneklenme yönteminin kısıtlamasını gidermek için yeni bir yöntem önerilmiştir. Yöntemin çalıştığını göstermek için ayrık elemanlarla oluşturulmuş sürekli zamanlı kaos tabanlı rastgele sayı üreteci gerçeklenmiştir. Bu RSÜ'den elde edilen verinin deneysel sonuçlarından, önerilen yöntemin gayet iyi çalıştığı gözlemlenmiştir.Önerilen yöntemle, kaotik işaretin genliğinin büyük olması sayesinde, osilatör frekansları arasındaki bu oran 20'ye indirilmiş ve rastgele sayı testlerinden oldukça iyi sonuçlar elde edilmiştir. Today, random numbers are more or less being used in arts, social and natural sciences. By using very long random number arrays, and with the help of computers and defined codings it is possible to create very appealing pictures or patterns. In electronic and software security systems and in communications using random numbers is in the heart of security. Besides, random sample selection in statistics, testing electronic circuits in electronic design, in computer games or gambling machines random numbers are being used.Depending on the usage area, the length of random numbers or the quality or both might have great importance. Random numbers are made using random number generators (RNGs). According to random number generation method RNGs are divided into two; ?pseudo? and ?true? random number generators. Pseudo RNGs produce their output via an algorithm and because of this after a period of time the output data becomes periodical. In the root of true RNGs there is an uncertainty source that provides the randomness. This uncertainty or entropy sources are basically electronic device noise, oscillator frequency instability or chaotic circuit behaviors. Next to these entropy sources, different ones are also used and it is reported to accomplish successful results. Since real RNG randomness source relies on a physical uncertainty source output data is expected not to be periodical.Till now very successful RNG designs are made using chaotic circuits. Most of the time RNGs depend on chaotic circuits using discrete time chaotic circuits. In recent years continuous time chaotic circuit RNGs are started to be designed and how good these circuits? performance is shown with circuits constructed using discrete components.In chaotic behavior, a small difference in system parameters may prevent desired chaotic behavior, or even may lead the circuit to leave chaotic behavior area for certain conditions. For this reason, chaotic circuits must be designed to have minimum sensitivity for production or runtime deviation in parameters and/or the designs must be made to compensate these deviations.In this thesis RNG design using continuous time chaotic circuits suitable for integration has been discussed. Initially two continuous time chaotic circuits suitable for integration has been designed and RNGs exploiting these circuits as an entropy source is realized with discrete components to investigate the performance. It is found that RNGs realized with discrete elements has good performance. Designed chaotic circuits have been integrated and the integrated circuits? parameter deviation after integration is measured and it?s determined that these circuits work as expected.Later, RNGs exploiting the integrated circuits as entropy source and generating high speed output data have been constructed with discrete components. After determining that the performance of RNGs made with this method is good, a completely integrated RNG is designed choosing the chaotic circuit which is more stable and less sensitive to parameter deviations out of the two proposed circuits. The integrated RNG has passed the random number tests successfully.Designed RNG structures rely on oscillator sampling method. In this method slow oscillator with high jitter samples a fast oscillator with a very low jitter. While the tests results are good enough to pass the tests when the oscillator frequency ratio used here is over 50, it?s observed that tests give better results when the ratio is close to 100. The need for high frequency in fast oscillator is limiting the use of this method when working with high frequency systems.In the end of this thesis, to remove the limitation of sampling method a new method has been proposed. To show the performance of this method RNG based on continuous time chaos has been realized with discrete components. From experimental results of the data acquired from this RNG, it?s observed that the proposed method works really good.With the proposed method, since the chaotic signal's amplitude is big, the proportion between oscillator frequencies has been reduced to 20 and good results have been obtained from random number tests. 134

V diplomski nalogi je predstavljen generator naključnih števil, ki temelji na analognem kaotičnem vezju, in statistično testiranje njegove primernosti. Predstavljeni so osnovni pojmi iz teorije kaosa in generatorjev naključnih števil. Podrobneje so opisani tudi statistični testi, ki se uporabljajo za preverjanje ustreznosti generatorja naključnih števil za kriptografske namene. Izbrano je kaotično vezje in postopek pridobivanja naključnih števil iz njegovega obnašanja. Delovanje vezja je preverjeno s simulacijami, meritvami in statističnimi testi. This diploma work describes a random number generator based on an analogue chaotic circuit. Basic concepts from chaos theory and random number generators are presented. A description of statistical tests is also given. These tests are used for testing random number generator used for cryptographic purposes. A chaotic circuit and an algorithm for generating random numbers are chosen. The operation of the circuit is tested with simulations, measurements and statistical tests.

A method for the computation of nonlinear digital filter networks containing delay-free loops is proposed. By preserving the topology of the network this method permits the inspection of all signals flowing across the loops. Furthermore, it enables to discretize analog filter networks described by nonlinear ordinary differential equation systems on a block-by-block basis, in such a way that ad hoc analog-to-digital maps can be individually applied to each filter. A nonlinear implicit system must be solved at every computation step using iterative methods, holding certain sufficient conditions for the existence of the solution. This condition is in algebraic relationship with the causality and structure of the network and its filtering blocks. The proposed method can be straightforwardly applied to the computation of several interconnected networks. This property adds modularity to the procedure, and enables to handle changes in the network topology. Examples are presented showing the applicability of the method to the computation of the Chua-Felderhoff RLC circuit and to the dynamic simulation of a known intracellular signal transduction model of circadian cycles in Drosophila melanogaster.

ÖZET Kaos tabanlı güvenilir haberleşme sistemleri, iletilecek bildiri işaretlerinin spektrumunu geniş bir sahaya yayabilmeleri, eşzamanlı olarak bildiri işaretlerini kodlayabilmeleri ve bu işlemleri basit ve pahalı olmayan kaotik devre düzenekleriyle gerçekleştirebilmeleri sebebiyle, literatürdeki standart yayılı spektrumlu haberleşme sistemlerine alternatif olmuşlardır. Kaotik haberleşme sistemlerinde kullanılacak kaotik devre modelleri, basit bir tasarıma sahip olmalarının yamsıra geniş ve zengin kaotik parametre değişimleri ve yapılarındaki ekstra güvenlik anahtarları sayesinde sisteme daha yüksek güvenilirlik özelliği katabilmelidirler. Bu yüzden bu tezde, kullanıldığı haberleşme sisteminde yüksek güvenilirlik sağlayacak, hem otonom hem de otonom olmayan kaotik devre dinamiklerinin her ikisine de sahip olan, yeni karışık modlu bir kaotik devre modeli geliştirilmiş olup, bu kaotik devre modeli kullanılarak değişik formdaki işaretlerin iletimi amaçlı kaotik haberleşme sistem tasarımı ve gerçekleştirimi yapılmıştır. Beş bölümden oluşan tez çalışmasının ilk bölümünde, kaos ve kaotik sistemlerin özellikleri ile otonom ve otonom olmayan kaotik devre model yapıları tanıtılmıştır. İkinci bölümde, literatürdeki kaotik haberleşme sistemlerinde kullanılan kaotik maskeleme, kaotik anahtarlama, kaotik modülasyon ve tahminsel kontrol metodlanmn ayrıntılı incelemesi yapılmış ve karşılaştırmalı olarak performansları değerlendirilmiştir. Üçüncü bölümde, kaotik nöron ve kaotik nöral ağ kavramları tanıtılarak, kaotik nöron devre modelinin analizi yapılmış ve bu modelin kaotik haberleşme sistem tasarımında nasıl kullanılabileceği yapılan bilgisayar simülasyonları ile gösterilmiştir. Geliştirilen yeni karışık modlu kaotik devre modeli ve bu model kullanılarak tasannu ve gerçeMeştirimi yapılan kaotik haberleşme sistemleri ile ilgili bilgisayar simülasyonları ve deneysel sonuçlar dördüncü bölümde verilmiştir. Yine bu bölümde, geliştirilen karışık modlu kaotik devre modelinin basitliği ve yüksek güvenilirlik derecesinin, bu devreyi kaotik haberleşme sistemlerinde kullanılması için avantajlı kıldığı bilgisayar simülasyonları ve laboratuar deneyleri ile gösterilmiştir. Son bölümde, bu çalışmada elde edilen sonuçlar tartışılmış ve değerlendirilmiştir. VI ABSTRACT Since chaos-based secure communication systems are able to spread the spectrum of the information signals and simultaneously encrypt the information signals with chaotic circuitry which is simple and inexpensive, these systems have been alternative of the standard spread-spectrum systems. Chaotic circuit models for use in chaotic secure communication systems must not only have a simple design but also be able to provide greater reliability to the communication system in the form of a wide range of parameter variations and extra security keys. Therefore in this thesis, a novel mixed-mode chaotic circuit model which has both autonomous and nonautonomous chaotic circuit dynamics and which is able to provide greater reliability in chaotic communication has been developed and using this model, the design and implementation of chaotic communication system have been realized for transmission of different-shaped information signals. In the first chapter of the thesis, which consists of five chapters, the features of chaos and chaotic systems and the structures of autonomous and nonautonomous chaotic circuit models have been introduced. In the second chapter, chaotic masking, chaotic modulation, chaotic switching and predictive control methods used in chaotic communication systems in the literature have been investigated and their performances have been evaluated with comparison. In the third chapter, the concepts of chaotic neuron and chaotic neural network have been introduced. Chaotic circuit neuron model has been analyzed and how this model can be used in chaotic communication system design has been shown by computer simulations. The findings obtained by computer simulations and laboratory experiments related to novel mixed-mode chaotic circuit model and chaotic communication systems designed and implemented using this mixed-mode chaotic circuit model have been given in the fourth chapter. Also in this chapter, that the novel mixed-mode chaotic circuit model's simplicity and the feature of high reliability degree offer possibly advantages for its usage in chaotic communications, has been verified by computer simulations and laboratory experiments. Results obtained in this work have been discussed and evaluated in the last chapter. 107

In this brief, we consider a Wien bridge-based resistance–capacitance ( ) chaotic oscillator. We show that this circuit realizes the well-known Chua’s oscillator under some conditions. We also show that this circuit is linearly conjugate, hence equivalent, to a large class of three-dimensional (3-D) systems when the parameters are appropriately chosen. We also present some experimental results.

Nonfeedback methods of chaos control are suited for practical applications because of their speed, flexibility, no online monitoring and processing requirements. For applications where none, no real-time, or only highly restricted measurements of the system are available, or where the system behavior is to be altered more drastically, these schemes are quite useful. These methods convert the chaotic motion to any arbitrary fixed point or periodic orbit or quasiperiodic orbit. These attributes make them promising for controlling chaotic circuits, fast electro-optical systems, systems in which no parameter is accessible for control, and so on. For possible practical applications of the control methods, the robustness of the methods in the presence of noise is of special interest. The noise can be in the form of external disturbances to the system or in the form of uncertainties due to inexact modelling of the system. In this paper, we make an analysis of the control performance of various nonfeedback methods in controlling the chaotic behavior in the presence of noise in the chaotic system. The various nonfeedback methods considered for the analysis are: addition of (i) constant force, (ii) weak periodic force, (iii) periodic delta-pulses, (iv) rectangular-pulses. The examples considered for this study are the Murali–Lakshmanan–Chua Circuit, and Duffing–Ueda oscillator.

Analog devre tasarımında genelde gerilim domeni işaret işleme yöntemleri kullanılmıştır. Ancak analog devrelerde sıkça kullanılan tranzistör benzeri elemanlar aslında akım çıkışlı elemanlardır ve bunları akım modunda kullandığımızda, analog devreler için önemli olan bant genişliğini verimli bir şekilde kullanabilmekteyiz. Ayrıca tümleşik devre tasarımında dikkate alman temel unsur olan güç harcama ve yer açısından akım modu büyük avantajlar getirmektedir. Düşük akımlarla işaret işleme olanağı olduğu için güç harcama da o ölçüde az olacaktır. Az akım gerektirmesi daha küçük W/L oranı yani daha az yer demektir. Güvenlik, devrelerin kaotik darvamslanyla elde edilmektedir ve haberleşme kaotik davranan iki devrenin birbiri ile senkronize olmasi ile gerçeklenmektedir. Kaotik haberleşme işaretin karıştırılarak anlaşılmamasına benzer bir tarzda güvenlik sağlamaktadır. Bu tarz bir sistemin VLSI tasarımı olarak gerçeklenmesi, akım ya da voltaj modunda benzer haberleşme sistemlerinin daha ufak gerçeklenebilirliği sonucunu getirmektedir. Akım modunda çalışan devrelerin avantajları ve tasarımda dikkat edilmesi gereken parametreler temel bloklar anlatılırken incelenecek ve kaotik akım modu haberleşme sisteminde örneklendirilecektir. Bu sayede taşınabilir analog haberleşme cihazları örneğin cep telefonu mümkün olabilecektir. Analogue IC(Integrated Circuit) design is historically seen as a voltage dominated form of signal processing. In fact, the analogue devices that are often used (e.g. transistors) are current output devices, so we can utilize them up to their limits in bandwidth which is one of the important issues in analogue circuits. Current mode design has recently started appearing in the literature. The advantages are very important in IC design. The most important issues are low power consumption and less space which are the key considerations in VLSI(Very Large Scale Integration). Because of working with quite low currents the power consumption is impressively low. Low current also means small W/L ratios so that less space is needed. Security is obtained by chaotic behavior of circuits that the communication is based on synchronizing two chaotic circuits. Such a system brings security to analog communication like a scramble type processing. The VLSI implementation can make this type of communication systems smaller. The advantages and design parameters of current mode circuits will be examined with the basic building blocks and it will be applied on a chaotic current mode communication system. This means that even portable devices for analog communication like pocket phones can be possible in the marketplace. 57

Sistemin zaman tanım bölgesinde kuramsal analizi yapılmış ve analog benzetim ile sonuçların doğruluğu gözlenmiştir. vııı Synchronization of coupled nonlinear oscillators has long been investigated in a diverse field including communications, power system engineering and biology. By the observation of synchronization in chaotic systems [13], synchronized chaotic systems have received a great deal of attention as offering a way of information transmission specifically spread spectrum communications [11]. In communica tion systems based on chaotic synchronization, either chaotic masking, or para meter modulation or state modulation have been used for mixing a chaotic carrier with a message signal [11]. The message signal has been recovered at the rece iver which is designed to be synchronized with the transmitter by some methods based on circuit theory [15], or Pecora-Carrol's drive-response [12] approaches. The communication system under consideration in this thesis is of chaotic state modulation type and is derived as employing a neural networks approach. The overall system can be viewed as a coupled of neurons: One of the neurons, the transmitter, is excited by an external input, message signal, and its output is fed to the other neuron, the recevier. The neuron models used here are the same with the cells of chaotic cellular neural networks [8]- [9] introduced as a third order special case of generalized cellular neural networks of [8]. Each neuron with unity self-feedback becomes equivalent to a Chua's circuit if it is isolated from the other neuron and from the external input. These neurons are, indeed, obtained from Chua's circuit by decomposing Chua's diode into a linear positive resistor, a nonlinear voltage controlled voltage source and a linear voltage controlled current source. As seen from Fig. l.a, defining the voltages of the dependent sources as port voltages, a neuron can be considered as a two-port nonlinear dynamical circuit element and also as an input-output system so that the input is the current of the first port and the output is the voltage of the second port. Such a neural based treatment of Chua's circuit provides some possibilities two of which are as: i) Obtaining a new hardware realization for Chua's circuit by means of voltage transfer function synthesis [10] as an alternative to the known realizations [7], and ii) Having new ways for excitation and also for coupling of Chua's circuits. The second possibility is exploited in the proposed communication system to have a nonlinear coupling and to design a receiver which is ensured to be operated in double scroll regime and is synchronized to the chaotic carrier component of the transmitted signal under the channel effect In chaotic state modulation systems developed in the literature [18]-[19], the message signal is injected to Chua's circuit used as the transmitter via either a current source [18] in parallel to, or a voltage source [19] in series to Chua's diode. For message signals with sufficiently small amplitudes, Chua's circuit IXwhich is designed to be operated in double scroll mode under no excitation, still operates in a double scroll mode. But, its states are slightly modified by the message. The transmitter circuit of this paper is identical to the one in [18]; but here the output of the transmitter is a nonlinear function of first state variable, i.e., capacitor voltage instead of itself. This property might bring an extra security by keeping additive channel noise away from the message signal which is already hidden in the chaotic signal th rough state modulation. The main difference of the proposed system from other chaotic state modulation systems [18]-[19] is in the way of excitation of receiver by the output of transmitter. In [18]-[19], a unity gain, dependent voltage source which is controlled by the capacitor voltage of transmitter supplies the signal driving the receiver. This makes the whole circuit degenerate, hence provides the synchronization of first state variables not only for steady-state but for all times. Since the receiver is excited by a dependent current source, then the system pro posed here is not degenerate. As a consequence of this type of coupling, even asymptotic synchronization between the transmitter and receiver is obtained only for zero message signal case. But, at the steady-state the receiver's chaotic states follow the transmitter's by a nonconstant time lag caused by the message. This gives the opportunity of recovering the message from the difference between the outputs of the transmitter and receiver. Next section presents the state equations and circuit structure of the proposed communication system with a comparison of circuit structures of the available chaotic state modulation systems. Chaotic State Modulation-Demodulation System A circuit realization of the proposed communication system with using ideal cir cuit elements is shown in Fig. l.a. The transmitter circuit is equivalent to original Chua's circuit if tranfer characteristic /(.) of nonlinear dependent voltage source is as shown in Fig. l.c, the self-feedback coefficient is chosen to be unity, and the linear, dynamical 2-terminal element Zrlc is defined as in Fig. Lb. This can be seen by combining linear positive resistor E/v, dependent voltage and current sources to obtain Chua's diode which has the driving-point characteristic in Fig. 3.2. The input signal m(t) might be a coded or modulated form of a message signal; but throughout the paper the input will be called as the message. As in the design of any chaotic transmitter, one of the points which should be taken into account is that the spectrum of the input signal could have an appropriate shape ensuring chaotic mode of operation [9]. A second point is that coding function or modulating signal should be chosen as providing that message can be hidden in modulated chaotic signal to be transmitted hence providing security. In synchronization, two dependent current sources which are in parallel at the input port of the receiver can be combined and then the receiver and transmitter Chua's circuits becomes equivalent. Synchronization, however, does not occur for nonzero message signal. By defining appropriate state variables and changing parameters (see [9]), the communication circuit of Fig. l.a can be described by the following state equations. This paper reports the first experimental verification of chaotic encryption of audio signals using integrated circuits. It is based on a g m-C modulator/demodulator analog CMOS IC that implements a 3rd-order nonlinear differential equation. This has been fabricated in 2.4 micrometer double-poly technology and includes on-chip tuning circuitry based on amplitude detection. It is capable of generating controllable continuous-time chaotic signals. Also, measurements demonstrate how to exploit the synchronization between two of them for encrypted transmission. In these experiments, the worst-case signal to noise ratio of the recovered signal is greater than +40 dB (at the low corner of the audio spectrum) with less than -0.2 dB loss of the input signal power. At higher frequencies, the signal-to-noise ratio rises up to +60 dB, while retaining similar losses at the receiver. European Union ESPRIT IV 8795

ResumenDentro de las técnicas de análisis de señales en el dominio del tiempo, el factor de cresta (FC) es sin duda una de las más simples y rápidas de implementar por medio de circuitos electrónicos o programas de cómputo. Es por eso que se han utilizado confiablemente para cuidar maquinaria y evaluar la calidad de la alimentación eléctrica. Uno de los fabricantes importantes de instrumentos para estos fines es Bruel y Kjaer y define al factor de cresta de una señal de voltaje o corriente repetitiva como el cociente entre el nivel del pico máximo y su valor eficaz durante un tiempo determinado. En este trabajo, se trata de averiguar experimentalmente el potencial del FC y de su tendencia para detectar el nacimiento y evolución de eventos en varios campos del conocimiento; ya sea generándolo por medio de un circuito electrónico que se desarrolla o calculándolo por medio de rutinas que se realizan con los programas DADISP y LabVIEW. Se validan y corroboran los resultados de todos los factores mencionados y de sus tendencias a través de un estudio comparativo entre ellos y las características y especificaciones planteadas. Los resultados fueron aceptables, de tal suerte que las herramientas se aplican para detectar averías tempranas en máquinas eléctricas, identifican diferencias entre la caosidad de circuitos con esas dinámicas, detectan deficiencias respiratorias o estertores anormales en pacientes y detectan distorsiones perjudiciales en la corriente eléctrica; todo esto con base en simu-laciones y mediciones realizadas para cada uno de los 4 casos estudiados. Otras aplicaciones originales del FC que se proponen son: a) controlar el caos en circuitos electrónicos que agitan/mezclan procesos industriales y b) corregir el factor de potencia de cargas no-lineales e inductivas. Se contempla a mediano plazo estudiar y utilizar un FC que considere la señal máxima de pico a pico; se piensa que así podría mejorarse su detección de eventos.AbstractWithin the signal analysis techniques in the time domain, the crest factor (CF) is undoubtedly one of the most simple and fast to implement using electronic circuits and/or software. That's why it has been used reliably to care for machinery and to evaluate the quality of supply. One of the major manufacturers of instruments for these purposes is Bruel and Kjaer and defines the crest factor of voltage or repetitive current signal as the ratio of the peak level and its rms value during a certain period of time. In this paper, we try to find out experimentally the potential of CF and their tendency to detect the nascent and evolution of events in various fields of knowledge, either by generating it with a developed electronic circuit, or with calculations, through routines that are performed with the programs DADISP and LabVIEW. The results are validated and checked for all the above factors and trends through a comparison between them and the proposed features and specifications. The results were acceptable so that the tools were applied to detect early faults in electrical machines, to identify chaosity differences between the circuits with these dynamics, to detect abnormal respiratory distress or rales in patients and to detect harmful distortions in the electrical current, all this based on simulations and measurements for each of the 4 cases studied. Other CF original applications proposed are: a) control of chaos in electronic circuits that stir/ mix industrial processes and b) correct the power factor of non-linear and inductive loads. A medium-term study and use a CF that considers the maximum signal peak to peak is contemplated, and it is thought that it can improve event detection.

Security and cryptography are key elements in constrained devices such as IoT, smart card, embedded system, etc. Their hardware implementations represent a challenge in terms of limitations in physical resources, operating speed, memory capacity, etc. In this context, as most protocols rely on the security of a good random number generator, considered an indispensable element in lightweight security core. Therefore, this work proposes new pseudo-random generators based on chaotic iterations, and designed to be deployed on hardware support, namely FPGA or ASIC. These hardware implementations can be described as post-processing on existing generators. They transform a sequence of numbers not uniform into another sequence of numbers uniform. The dependency between input and output has been proven chaotic, according notably to the mathematical definitions of chaos provided by Devaney and Li-Yorke. Following that, we firstly elaborate or develop out a complete state of the art of the material and physical implementations of pseudo-random number generators (PRNG, for pseudorandom number generators). We then propose new generators based on chaotic iterations (IC) which will be tested on our hardware platform. The initial idea was to start from the n-cube (or, in an equivalent way, the vectorial negation in CIs), then remove a Hamiltonian cycle balanced enough to produce new functions to be iterated, for which is added permutation on output . The methods recommended to find good functions, will be detailed, and the whole will be implemented on our FPGA platform. The resulting generators generally have a better statistical profiles than its inputs, while operating at a high speed. Finally, we will implement them on many hardware support (65-nm ASIC circuit and Zynq FPGA platform).; La sécurité et la cryptographie sont des éléments clés pour les dispositifs soumis à des contraintes comme l’IOT, Carte à Puce, Systèm Embarqué, etc. Leur implémentation matérielle constitue un défi en termes de limitation en ressources physiques, vitesse de fonctionnement, capacité de mémoire, etc. Dans ce contexte, comme la plupart des protocoles s’appuient sur la sécurité d’un bon générateur de nombres aléatoires, considéré comme un élément indispensable dans le noyau de sécurité. Par conséquent, le présent travail propose des nouveaux générateurs pseudo-aléatoires basés sur des itérations chaotiques, et conçus pour être déployés sur des supports matériels, à savoir sur du FPGA ou du ASIC. Ces implémentations matérielles peuvent être décrites comme des post-traitements sur des générateurs existants. Elles transforment donc une suite de nombres non-uniformes en une autre suite de nombres uniformes. La dépendance entre l’entrée et la sortie a été prouvée chaotique selon les définitions mathématiques du chaos fournies notamment par Devaney et Li-Yorke. Suite à cela, nous effectuant tout d’abord un état de l’art complet sur les mises en œuvre matérielles et physiques des générateurs de nombres pseudo-aléatoires (PRNG, pour pseudorandom number generators). Nous proposons ensuite de nouveaux générateurs à base d’itérations chaotiques (IC) qui seront testés sur notre plate-forme matérielle. L’idée de départ était de partir du n-cube (ou, de manière équivalente, de la négation vectorielle dans les IC), puis d’enlever un cycle Hamiltonien suffisamment équilibré pour produire de nouvelles fonctions à itérer, à laquelle s’ajoute une permutation en sortie. Les méthodes préconisées pour trouver de bonnes fonctions serons détaillées, et le tout sera implanté sur notre plate-forme FPGA. Les générateurs obtenus disposent généralement d’un meilleur profil statistique que leur entrée, tout en fonctionnant à une grande vitesse. Finalement, nous les implémenterons sur de nombreux supports matériels (65-nm ASIC circuit and Zynq FPGA platform).

The experimental study of a secure chaotic synchronized communication system is presented. The synchronization between two digital chaotic oscillators, serving as a transmitter-receiver scheme, is studied. The oscillators exhibit rich chaotic behavior and are unidirectionally coupled, forming a master-slave topology. Both the input information signal and the transmitted chaotic signal are digital ones.
