Abstract

Hollow TiO2 microspheres and carbon/TiO2 (HC/T) composite microspheres have been synthesized by a one-pot synthesis approach. The complex permittivity result shows that the hollow TiO2/paraffin composites have weak polarized loss, and the permittivities of the hollow HC/T/paraffin composites can be easily tuned by the carbonization temperature. The result of reflection loss (RL) exhibits that the microwave absorption performances of HC/T composite are more excellent than hollow TiO2. The hollow HC/T composite carbonized at 800°C shows the most excellent microwave absorption performances because of suitable complex permittivity and impedance matching. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

Government websites are currently important for providing information and services to citizens. It is a crucial task to evaluate the performance of each government website. The traditional evaluation processes based on experts are criticised as being subjective and cannot work in real time. This article proposes a framework and automatic assessment system for evaluating the performance of government websites in real time. To test the proposed framework and the automatic assessment system, we evaluate and classify 70 websites from Shaanxi Province of China. Abstract

In this study, based on self-reactive quenching technique, hollow ceramic microspheres (HCMs) containing barium ferrites were synthesized using Al+Fe2O3+BaO2+sucrose+ epoxy resin as the reactive system and polyethylene glycol (PEG) as the foaming agent. The influence of PEG on the particle size and microwave absorption properties of HCMs is investigated using SEM, XRD, laser particle size analyzer and vector network analyzer. Preliminary results show that the average particle size increases initially from 28 μm to 53 μm after adding PEG, as well as the particle distribution gets narrower and the surface takes on classical hexagonal crystals. BaFe2O4, the intermediate phase of M-type barium ferrites (BaFe12O19), can be seen in XRD. The microwave absorption properties are improved greatly in the frequency range of 8–18 GHz. And the minimum reflection loss can reach −10 dB.

Abstract

The self-reactive quenching technology, which combines flame thermal spraying technology, self-propagating high-temperature synthesis (SHS), and rapid solidification, is a new method for preparation of hollow microspheres. Based on this, the effect of heat released by different exothermic systems on preparation of hollow ceramic microspheres was studied. The results show that for low-exothermic system Si-Sucrose-NH4Cl, the self-propagating reactions cannot occur, and the quenching products are Si microspheres with porous structure. For the moderate exothermic system Al–SiO2-Sucrose, the quenching products consist of some grains, which are hollow spherical or nearly spherical particles and irregular powders. Formation of Al2O3–Si indicates possible occurrence of SHS reactions. Meanwhile, for high-exothermic system Al–Cr2O3-Sucrose-Si-Epoxy Resin, the quenching products consist of internal hollow spherical grains and irregular-shaped porous particles; the phase composition mainly contains Al2O3, Cr3C2, Cr7C3, Cr3Si, and mullite, showing completeness of SHS reactions. The higher the adiabatic combustion temperature of the system is, the more heat it releases is higher, and the ceramic droplets form easilier.

Abstract

In new drilling conditions such as extended reach drilling or long horizontal well, to avoid large friction between drill string and wellbore or weigh on bit decreasing, a new drilling vibration tool (called antifriction oscillator) is presented in this article. For discussing its working mechanism and performance, first, the kinematics models are established based on the structure design parameter, and then the horizontal vibration models are presented according to drilling conditions. With the numerical example results, it can be concluded that the frequency of the flow area between the static and dynamic valve plates is proportional to the flow rate. Moreover, with the increasing size of static valve plate, the flow area is increasing while the total axial force is decreasing. Furthermore, according to the experiment test results with static valve plate hole diameter 35.56 mm, the vibration results are discussed by comparing with numerical example results, and it can verify the analysis models’ rationality and the calculation formulas’ correctness. The research results provide basis for theoretical research and field applications of drilling oscillator. Furthermore, by changing corresponding parameters, the research methods and models can also provide reference for the design of new methods or tools of drilling friction reduction or rate of penetration increasing technologies.

Abstract

Self-reactive quenching technology and Al + Cr 2 O 3 + Si + Sucrose + Epoxy Resin as reaction system are used to prepare hollow multiphase ceramic micro-spheres. Forming mechanism of the quenching products is analyzed through high-speed photography, water quenching method, SEM, XRD and EDS. The results show that agglomerate powders go through three phases during the flight process in flame field: heated ignition, ceramic droplets formed and cooled rapidly. The quenching products consist of two parts: one is the hollow irregular porous particles; the other is the hollow ceramic micro-spheres with smooth surface. The high heat released from aluminothermic reaction guarantees the forming of hollow multiphase ceramic micro-spheres and SiC. The porous, open and hollow structure is essentially caused by the large volume of gas formed during the reaction process.

Abstract

Communication interface for hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulation, a technique that assists with verification and validation of embedded systems, is a bridge between real hardware and simulated environment. A multiprotocol interface is adopted in the HIL system for testing onboard software of the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer (AMS). We propose a modular design to manipulate the interface with an enhanced code reusability, and the implementation has been proved efficient and flexible. This paper presents the modular design methodology and its applications in different scenarios.

Abstract

We present results from a study of hadronic event structure in high energy e[superscript +]e[superscript −] interactions using the L3 detector at LEP. A new class of event shape distributions are measured at and above the Z boson pole for light quark (u, d, s, c) flavours. Energy flow correlations are studied for all hadronic events. Next-to-leading-log QCD calculations and QCD models with improved leading-log approximations are compared to data and good agreement is found at the Z-pole whereas some discrepancies are observed at higher centre-of-mass energies.

Abstract

Lithium-Zinc ferrite hollow microspheres (LiZn FHMs) doped with Ce and Mg were synthesized with Fe + Zn + FeO + O + LiCO reactive system by using self-reactive quenching technology. Effect of Ce and Mg doping on the surface morphology, phase structure, and microwave absorption properties of LiZn FHMs were investigated in detail. The results indicate that the surface morphology of LiZn FHMs shows little variation after Ce and Mg doping and is still composed of unnoticeable multi-shape crystal. The phases are mainly composed of FeO, FeO, LiZnFeO and LiFeO without doping. The main phases remain unchanged with Mg doping, but CeO appears in the phase components with Ce doping. It can be concluded that the microwave absorption properties are improved by Ce doping due to the variation of the ferromagnetic resonance frequency. But those of Mg doping are reduced due to the introduction of non-magnetic Mg. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

Knowledge of the rigidity dependence of the boron to carbon flux ratio (B/C) is important in understanding the propagation of cosmic rays. The precise measurement of the B/C ratio from 1.9 GV to 2.6 TV, based on 2.3 million boron and 8.3 million carbon nuclei collected by AMS during the first 5 years of operation, is presented. The detailed variation with rigidity of the B/C spectral index is reported for the first time. The B/C ratio does not show any significant structures in contrast to many cosmic ray models that require such structures at high rigidities. Remarkably, above 65 GV, the B/C ratio is well described by a single power law R[superscript Δ] with index Δ=-0.333±0.014(fit)±0.005(syst), in good agreement with the Kolmogorov theory of turbulence which predicts Δ=-1/3 asymptotically., National Science Foundation (U.S.) (Grants 1455202 and 1551980), Wyle Research (Firm) (Grant 2014/T72497), United States. Abstract

A precision measurement by AMS of the antiproton flux and the antiproton-to-proton flux ratio in primary cosmic rays in the absolute rigidity range from 1 to 450 GV is presented based on 3.49×10^{5} antiproton events and 2.42×10^{9} proton events. The fluxes and flux ratios of charged elementary particles in cosmic rays are also presented. In the absolute rigidity range ∼60 to ∼500 GV, the antiproton p[over ¯], proton p, and positron e^{+} fluxes are found to have nearly identical rigidity dependence and the electron e^{-} flux exhibits a different rigidity dependence. Below 60 GV, the (p[over ¯]/p), (p[over ¯]/e^{+}), and (p/e^{+}) flux ratios each reaches a maximum. From ∼60 to ∼500 GV, the (p[over ¯]/p), (p[over ¯]/e^{+}), and (p/e^{+}) flux ratios show no rigidity dependence. Abstract

The variety of isotopes in cosmic rays allows us to study different aspects of the processes that cosmic rays undergo between the time they are produced and the time of their arrival in the heliosphere. In this paper, we present measurements of the isotopic ratios [superscript 2]H/[superscript 4]He, [superscript 3]He/[superscript 4]He, [superscript 6]Li/[superscript 7]Li, [superscript 7]Be/([superscript 9]Be+[superscript 10]Be), and [superscript 10]B/[superscript 11]B in the range 0.2-1.4 GeV of kinetic energy per nucleon. The measurements are based on the data collected by the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer, AMS-01, during the STS-91 flight in 1998 June., United States. 98. Severe pneumonia with empyema due to multiple anaerobic infections: case report and literature review.

Abstract

Background: Cases of severe pneumonia complicated by empyema due to normal anaerobic flora from the oral cavity are infrequent. Diagnosing anaerobic infections through conventional microbiological test (CMT) is often challenging., Case Presentation: This study describes the case of a 67-year-old man, bedridden long-term, who developed severe pneumonia with empyema caused by multiple anaerobic bacterial infections. The patient was hospitalized with a 5-day history of cough, sputum and fever, accompanied by a 2-day history of dyspnea. Despite CMT, the specific etiology remained elusive. However, metagenomic next-generation sequencing (mNGS) identified various anaerobic bacteria in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF), blood and pleural effusion. The patient was diagnosed with a polymicrobial infection involving multiple anaerobic bacteria. Following treatment with metronidazole and moxifloxacin, the patient's pulmonary symptoms improved., Conclusion: mNGS serves as a valuable adjunctive tool for diagnosting and managing patients whose etiology remains unidentified following CMT., Competing Interests: XZ, WG, and YZ were employed by Willingmed Technology (Beijing) Co., Ltd. 99. Effectiveness, safety, and treatment pattern of sodium zirconium cyclosilicate in Chinese patients with hyperkalemia: interim analysis from a multicenter, prospective, real-world study (Actualize Study).

Abstract

Introduction: Sodium zirconium cyclosilicate (SZC) is a nonabsorbed cation-exchanger approved in China for the treatment of hyperkalemia [HK; serum potassium (sK + ) levels >5.0 mmol/L]. This is the first real-world study aimed to assess the effectiveness, safety, and treatment patterns of SZC in Chinese patients with HK. Here we present the results of the first interim analysis. Methods: This multicenter, prospective, cohort study included patients aged ≥18 years with documented HK within 1-year before study enrollment day. These patients were followed up for 6 months from the enrollment day after initiating SZC treatment. The treatment was categorized into correction phase (FAS-P1) and maintenance phase (FAS-P2 new and ongoing users). Subgroup analysis was performed in patients on hemodialysis (FAS-H). The primary objective was evaluation of safety profile of SZC; secondary objectives included assessment of treatment patterns of SZC and its effectiveness. Results: Of 421 screened patients, 193, 354, and 162 patients were enrolled in the FAS-P1, FAS-P2, and FAS-H groups, respectively. sK + levels were reduced significantly from 5.9 mmol/L to 5.0 mmol/L after the correction phase. For the maintenance phase, the mean sK + levels were maintained at 5.2 mmol/L and 5.0 mmol/L in the FAS-P2 new and ongoing user, respectively, and 5.3 mmol/L in the FAS-H subgroup. A considerable proportion of patients showed normokalemia after 48 h of SZC treatment (FAS-P1:51.3%) which was maintained up to 6 months in the maintenance phase (FAS-P2:44%). SZC was well-tolerated. 100. VSFormer: Mining Correlations in Flexible View Set for Multi-view 3D Shape Understanding.

Abstract

View-based methods have demonstrated promising performance in 3D shape understanding. However, they tend to make strong assumptions about the relations between views or learn the multi-view correlations indirectly, which limits the flexibility of exploring inter-view correlations and the effectiveness of target tasks. To overcome the above problems, this paper investigates flexible organization and explicit correlation learning for multiple views. In particular, we propose to incorporate different views of a 3D shape into a permutation-invariant set, referred to as View Set, which removes rigid relation assumptions and facilitates adequate information exchange and fusion among views. Based on that, we devise a nimble Transformer model, named VSFormer, to explicitly capture pairwise and higher-order correlations of all elements in the set. Meanwhile, we theoretically reveal a natural correspondence between the Cartesian product of a view set and the correlation matrix in the attention mechanism, which supports our model design. Comprehensive experiments suggest that VSFormer has better flexibility, efficient inference efficiency and superior performance. Notably, VSFormer reaches state-of-the-art results on various 3d recognition datasets, including ModelNet40, ScanObjectNN and RGBD.
