Earthmoving operations in the construction process are complex environments that involve interactions between equipment, the workforce, and materials within an overarching construction plan. Over the past two decades, researchers in construction have focused on improving the safety of construction earthmoving equipment due to their omnipresence in the construction environment. Although previous studies have explored safety risks and the causes of accidents involving construction earthmoving equipment, their approaches were common and lacked a comprehensive perspective. Hence, this systematic literature review applies Rasmussen's (1997) risk management framework using a systems thinking approach to identify and classify the risk factors influencing earthmoving equipment operation safety in construction sites. Utilizing a multistep methodology, this research first identifies 38 risk factors pertinent to earthmoving equipment operations and then classifies them based on systems thinking. Social network analysis (SNA) is employed to analyze the data. The results show that most research on earthmoving equipment safety focuses on monitoring construction sites, but very little on government and regulatory roles. When considering the interdependencies of risk factors, safety training is the most important factor, followed by the largely overlooked earthmoving machinery characteristics and manufacturer's performance. The results of this review inform both the research community and industry practitioners regarding the less-understood aspects of earthmoving equipment operation safety and future research directions. This study focuses on monitoring the deformation of the shallow unsymmetrical section of a super-large-span tunnel portal relying on the newly built Shimentangshan Tunnel, and through numerical simulations, the construction sequence and drift ratios were optimized to address challenges related to the stability of surrounding rock and structure. The findings indicate that employing the double-side drift method results in a maximum settlement value of 107.0 mm and a maximum convergence value of 108.8 mm, leading to larger deformations. Excavating the shallow buried side first followed by the deep buried side proves beneficial for deformation control of the support structure and effectively limits damage to the surrounding rock. A drift ratio of 0.3 ensures optimal support structure security and stability. Considering both structural deformation and surrounding rock damage, a ratio between 0.25 and 0.35 for the drifts is recommended. Taking into account construction efficiency and economic benefits, a construction plan for the shallow buried unsymmetrical section at the portal of super-large-span tunnels is proposed. Optimized viscous dampers mitigate the dynamic response of building with plan asymmetry. Previous research efforts limit the optimization method to time domain requiring time history analyses to optimize damper placement for plan eccentricity-induced torsional response combined with translational response. This can consume high computational effort and lead to the variability in the ground motion selection. To expedite the optimization process while taking ground motion variability into account, this study will offer a novel criterion based on stochastic performance. This technique will skip the traditional approach of employing time history analyses and will take frequency domain variability into account. Through given distance between the center of mass (CM) and the target frame, the study establishes the stochastic criterion for the response at the perimeter of the building where the maximum torsional-translational response occurs. This allows the optimization methods to generate high quality solution with less computational efforts compared to traditional approach (i.e. time domain-based optimization). It is noteworthy that the proposed criterion is applicable to extensive kinds of responses (e.g. peak floor acceleration, story shear and etc.) once the geometric relationship is given. The proposed criterion as the objective function is compared against their counterpart in time domain through a case study. The case study is based on a reinforced concrete (RC) moment-resisting-frame (MRF) building with two-way asymmetric plan and adopts Element Exchange Method (EEM) to optimize the damper placement. The effectiveness of optimized design based in frequency domain and time domain is evaluated for their total running time and maximum peak interstory drift against a suite of ground motions. The result showed that the proposed criterion can offer the improvement against the traditional approach in terms of solution quality (i.e. performance in time domain and frequency domain) and computational efforts (i.e. total running time for optimization). This paper focuses on converting complex 3D maps created by LiDAR and SLAM technology into simple 2D maps to make them easier to understand. While 3D maps provide a lot of useful details for robots and computer programs, they can be difficult to read for humans who are used to flat maps. We developed a new system to clean up these 3D maps and convert them into intuitive and accurate 2D maps. The system uses three steps designed to correct different kinds of errors found in 3D LiDAR scan data: clustering-based denoising, height-based denoising, and Statistical Outlier Removal. In particular, height-based denoising is the method we propose in this paper, an algorithm that leaves only indoor structures such as walls. The paper proposes an algorithm that considers the entire range of the point cloud, rather than just the points near the ceiling, as is the case with existing methods, to make denoising more effective. This makes the final 2D map easy to understand and useful for building planning or emergency preparedness. Our main goal is to map the interior of buildings faster and more effectively, creating 2D drawings that reflect accurate and current information. The new trend in planning building projects involves incorporating space management on the construction site. Failing to consider the management of site operations can lead to either relaxed or congested construction sites. This is because labor, tools, equipment, and materials all require space. It is important to plan for the circulation and temporary storage of materials, including recycling, reuse, and disposal. Temporary installations and finished products also take up space and can impact traffic flow. For example, partitions can impair traffic flow, while finished flooring can restrict it. The occupation of spaces also changes as the work progresses, so it is important to monitor and accommodate these changes. Therefore, space management needs to be coordinated throughout the construction phase. Traditional planning methods do not consider the analysis of critical spaces or their evolution over time. As a result, they produce schedules that do not reflect the reality of the construction site. Dynamic space-time planning means modelling the operational flow in different sectors of the construction site to optimize the construction process. Efficient space occupation allows for more effective utilization of available resources. This paper aims to analyze the spatial requirements of various construction operations and develop standardized artifacts that integrate spatial information into the schedule. To achieve this objective, the methodology aims to: (i) Conduct site surveys to collect data and analyze construction operations and their spatial needs; (ii) Define the necessary parameters for determining the occupancy rate (OR); (iii) Develop the needed artifacts for representing the static models based on the survey results and the developed occupancy parameters to visually depict and compute various types of occupancy and operations; (iv) Conduct workshops with the professionals in the construction industry. The participants were asked to provide feedback on whether the artifacts effectively captured the various aspects of construction work, such as equipment, tools, materials, and safety protocols. The aim is to validate that the artifacts as reliable representations of real-life construction scenarios. The feedback and input provided by the professionals helped to ensure that the artifacts were accurate, informative, and valuable for training purposes in the construction industry. Identifying a future occupation is an important achievement during adolescence, a process particularly complex for Peruvian adolescents. Perú is a postcolonial country with many forms of inequality, and one of them is the opportunity gap to attend a college. However, most adolescents aspire to go to university as a way out of poverty, and, since Perú is a collectivist society, this is a family task: it is adolescents' responsibility to go to college in order to give a better life to their families. Theories developed for WEIRD societies (Western, Educated, Industrialized, Rich and Democratic) do not provide an accurate explanation of Peruvian adolescents' occupational projects because they envision a person with autonomy and resources to choose a career. Thus, our goal is to analyze adolescents' occupational plans considering the role adolescent–caregivers relationships play in this configuration. This study is part of the project "Being an adolescent in Perú" (PUCP‐UNICEF) which characterized Peruvian adolescence by studying 14 variables through a qualitative study with 66 participants. In depth interviews were conducted and the data was analyzed using thematic analysis. Results of the thematic analysis are organized in three topics that explain the relationship between occupational plans and adolescent–caregiver relationship (1) adolescents have occupational aspirations rather than achievable projects that are that are built alone, without adult support; (2) attending college as an occupational aspiration belongs to the family, not to the individual operating also a kind of "debt" to pay to their caregivers for being financially supported to be able to study in high school; and (3) caregivers do not have the possibility or resources of being able to accompany their adolescent's occupational plans. We conclude that Peruvian adolescents think about their future within the framework of their family's needs, rather than linked to personal and occupational goals, impeding adolescents from exploring and selecting a realistic occupational goal consistent with their interests. The results allow us to discuss the relevance of studying adolescent development taking into account the particularities of the adolescents' cultural and socioeconomic contexts as well as the core role that relationship with caregivers plays in this process in Perú. The Olympic Games of 1940 were due to be organized in Tokyo, Japan, but because of the Sino-Japanese war, the event was hastily re-scheduled to be organized in Helsinki, Finland. The Second World War however interrupted the preparations. Instead of 1940, the Games were organized in Helsinki in 1952. It thus became necessary to prepare twice for the same event. During the 12 years that had passed, the political situation had become significantly different, while also views concerning architecture and urban planning had changed. The postponed Helsinki Olympics represent an intriguing case in the history of Olympic Games, that has remained relatively little researched. This paper proposes that this 12-year 'Olympic gap' brings to view on one hand the need to prepare twice, and on the other hand, the processual, slow nature of building and planning, which continued almost uninterrupted. A close reading of period newspaper articles, history of urban planning and architecture, as well as studies of the Olympic Games reveals tensions between architecture, planning, and politics on local, national, and international level, as they unravel in the context of preparing for the Helsinki Olympics. Building Information Modeling (BIM) data has the advantages of high quality, operability, and parametric capabilities. In recent years, the application of BIM in construction planning for building robots has been increasing. Task planning for rebar binding is an important aspect of construction, and there is a growing trend of using robots to improve the accuracy and efficiency of binding operations. However, the complex and dynamic construction site environment poses significant challenges for task planning in rebar binding. Therefore, this paper proposes a new BIM-based task planning method for a wheeled-legged rebar binding robot, which can quickly generate an optimal task sequence. Firstly, an initial set of rebar intersection points is generated based on BIM data. Then, considering the execution dead zone of the robot and the variable workspace of the binding mechanism, the rebar intersection points set is decomposed and filtered using morphological opening operations. Finally, a constrained genetic algorithm is employed to sort the set of task points. Simulation and real-world experiments were conducted using a wheeled-legged rebar binding robot as the research subject. The results demonstrate that, compared to manual planning, the average binding efficiency is approximately 1500 points per hour, which is 1.97 times higher than manual operation. Stay cables in cable-stayed bridges are susceptible to vibrations due to their inherent flexibility and low damping. Different countermeasures to control such vibrations have been extensively researched as well as implemented on actual bridges. New techniques for mitigating stay cable vibrations are still needed as longer cable-stayed bridges are being planned and built. External passive/active dampers and crosstied cable networks are the most effective solutions in controlling undesired cable vibrations. Design aids for the selection of passive damper parameters are available for zero, positive, and negative stiffness dampers (ZSDs, PSDs, and NSDs) installed on a single cable. However, the potential of using passive NSDs in a hybrid cable network, which is a combination of crossties and external dampers, has not been explored. This study presents an analytical investigation on the performance of a passive NSD for vibration control in a two-cable hybrid network. It is revealed that in the case of a hybrid network with NSDs, the stability limit of the system is increased as compared with a single negatively damped cable in addition to a significant improvement in system damping without compromising its in-plane stiffness. The influence of major system parameters on the system stability limit and the damping ratio is discussed. The concept of damping contour for a typical hybrid network is adopted to illustrate selection of the required level of damping for a particular combination of damper location and negative stiffness. High-speed railway train control system has high safety level, various equipment components, complex functional structure and interface relationship, and great difficulty in dynamic inspection. By using the simulation test technology, it will completely rely on the on-site integrated commissioning and test, and be completed through the implementation of simulation test. It can further improve the test coverage and reduce the impact on transportation. On the basis of researches on the necessity of project construction, construction objectives and technical solutions, specific researches are carried out on ground equipment, on-board equipment, simulation system plan, etc. Through comparison and selection, the ground equipment of simulation testing platform for train control system engineering of the high-speed railway adopts the semi-physical and semi-simulation structure, and uses the cloud platform technology, which has better scalability and economy. The on-board equipment adopts the completely real equipment, which improves the credibility and authenticity of the test. Through the construction of simulation testing platform and the verification based on the simulation environment of Huzhou -- Hangzhou High-speed Railway, the research results show that compared with the field test, the simulation test has completed more scenarios, cases and route tests, and their numbers have increased by 275%, 336% and 442% respectively, which can further improve the quality, depth and breadth of the train control system test. Metro construction accidents are prone to occur and the types of accidents are complex. Aiming at the problem that the existing metro construction accident analysis methods mostly rely on expert subjective experience, and only a few methods make use of accident report information, this paper proposes an analysis model for the causes of metro construction accidents based on NBN-EM. First of all, 223 accident reports collected from 2010 to 2021 are used as data sources, and statistical methods are used to extract and screen risk factors and further generalize them to establish an indicator system for accident causation analysis. Secondly, an improved Naive Bayesian network is used to construct the graphical structure of the relationship between risk factor indicators and accident types, while a stratified random sampling of 80% of the data is used as the training sample, and data learning is carried out with the help of EM algorithm and Netica software to determine the prior probability and conditional probability parameters of each node. Finally, Bayesian network inference and sensitivity analysis are employed to rank the key causal factors of different types of accidents, and scenario analysis from different perspectives determines the accident probability and risk source identification under the combination of risk factors. The research results show that the construction method, construction plan content and safety hazard investigation are the most important factors that cause accidents in the three dimensions respectively. The key risk factors for different types of accidents are differentiated and should be pre-controlled differently. This research shows the developments that have occurred in high-rise building building planning worldwide by presenting bibliometric analysis data. The database that appears from Publish or Perish can be converted into mapping with the help of VosViewer software. In this analysis, it can be seen how relevant this research is globally. The results of data processing show that the majority of research comes from journal articles, with a total of 774 studies (85.33%), and the peak of research occurred in 2022 with 114 studies. Elsevier BV is a publisher that has a high interest in the development of high-rise building planning, with a total of 432 studies (65.90%). Evaluation is the most dense visualization, followed by buildings and high-rise buildings. This shows that high-level building planning using the CPM and PERT methods can still develop. In the construction industry, the imperative for visual surveillance mechanisms is underscored by the need for safety monitoring, resources, and progress tracking, especially with the adoption of vision intelligence technology. Traditional camera installation plans often move toward coverage and cost objectives without considering substantial coverage overlap, inflating processing and storage requirements, and complicating subsequent analyses. To address these issues, this research proposes a voxel-based site coverage and overlapping analysis for camera allocation planning in parametric BIM environments, called the PBA approach. The first step is to collect information from the BIM model, which is the input for the parametric modeling step. After that, the PBA approach simulates the virtual devices and the construction layout by employing visual language programming and then generates a coverage area. Lastly, the performance simulation and evaluation of various placement scenarios against predefined criteria are conducted, including visual coverage and overlapping optimization for eliminating data redundancy purposes. The proposed approach is evaluated through its application to construction projects. The results from these various implementations indicate a marked decrease in data overlap and an overall enhancement in surveillance efficacy. This research contributes a novel, BIM-centric solution to visual information adoption in the construction industry, offering a scalable approach to optimize camera placement while mitigating overlapping areas. Street quality plays a crucial role in promoting urban development. There is still no consensus on how to quantify human street quality perception on a large scale or explore the relationship between street quality and street composition elements. This study investigates a new approach for evaluating and comparing street quality perception and accessibility in Shanghai and Chengdu, two megacities with distinct geographic characteristics, using street-view images, deep learning, and space syntax. The result indicates significant differences in street quality perception between Shanghai and Chengdu. In Chengdu, there is a curvilinear distribution of the highest positive perceptions along the riverfront space and a radioactive spatial distribution of the highest negative perceptions along the ring road and main roads. Shanghai displays a fragmented cross-aggregation and polycentric distribution of the streets with the highest positive and negative perceptions. Thus, it is reasonable to hypothesize that street quality perception closely correlates with the urban planning and construction process of streets. Moreover, we used multiple linear regression to explain the relationship between street quality perception and street elements. The results show that buildings in Shanghai and trees, pavement, and grass in Chengdu were positively associated with positive perceptions. Walls in both Shanghai and Chengdu show a consistent positive correlation with negative perceptions and a consistent negative correlation with other positive perceptions, and are most likely to contribute to the perception of low street quality. Ceilings were positively associated with negative perceptions in Shanghai but are not the major street elements in Chengdu, while the grass is the opposite of the above results. Our research can provide a cost-effective and rapid solution for large-scale, highly detailed urban street quality perception assessments to inform human-scale urban planning. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The study of the expansion potential of artificial oases based on remote sensing data is of great significance for the rational allocation of water resources and urban planning in arid areas. Based on the spatio-temporal relationship between morphogenetic landform types and the development of artificial oases in Xinjiang, this study explored the development pattern of artificial oases in the past 30 years by using trend analysis and centroid migration analysis, constructing a series of landform–artificial oasis change indices, and investigating the suitability of different landforms for the development of artificial oases based on geomorphological location by adopting a hierarchical clustering method. The following conclusions are drawn: (1) From 1990 to 2020, the area of artificial oases in the whole territory continued to increase, with significant expansion to the south from 2005 to 2010. (2) Six categories of landform types for artificial oasis development were created based on the clustering results. Of these, 7.39% and 6.15% of the area's geomorphological types belonged to the first and second suitability classes, respectively. (3) The optimal scale for analyzing the suitability of landforms for the development of artificial oases over the past 30 years in the whole area was 8 km, which could explain more than 96% of the changes in the growth of artificial oases. The distribution of landforms of first- and second-class suitability within the 8 km buffer zone of an artificial oasis in the year 2020 was 10.55% and 9.90%, respectively, and landforms of first-class suitability were mainly concentrated in the near plain side of the urban agglomerations located on the northern and southern slopes of the Tianshan Mountains, and the urban agglomerations at the southern edge of Altai Mountains. This study quantified the potential of different geomorphological types for the development of artificial oases and provided a basis for site selection in future artificial oasis planning and urban construction. The review should begin with the development process of human spaceflight life-support systems and highlight the limitations of transporting survival materials from Earth. The review emphasises the importance of utilising in-situ lunar resources. To uncover the process of land use change and its driving mechanism of typical wetland ecosystems in the karst region, this thesis conducts a case study on Caohai National Nature Reserve (hereafter referred to as Caohai). With the support of geoinformation technology and the landscape index analysis method, it quantitatively analyzes the magnitudes, speed, and landscape patterns of land use changes over 35 years from 1985 to 2020 using continuous remote sensing images. The results show that the land use structure of Caohai has mainly undergone mutual conversion between farmland and wetland. Before 2005, 164.60 ha of farmland were converted to wetland, from 2005 to 2015, 451.79 ha of wetland were converted to farmland, and from 2015 to 2020, 979.62 ha of farmland were transformed into wetland. The trend for construction land was to decrease first and then increase, with increased construction land primarily coming from farmland and partially from shrubland and forestland. The spatial connectivity of landscape distribution showed a slow decrease to a rapid decrease, then increased and reduced again, while diversity and evenness showed the opposite trend. Assessing building energy consumption is of paramount significance in sustainability and energy efficiency (EE) studies. The development of an accurate EE prediction model is pivotal for optimizing energy resources and facilitating effective building planning. Traditional physical modeling approaches are encumbered by high complexity and protracted modeling cycles. In this paper, we introduce a novel evolutionary dendritic neural regression (EDNR) model tailored to forecasting residential building EE. Acknowledging the vast landscape and complexity of the EDNR weight space, coupled with the inherent susceptibility of traditional optimization algorithms to local optima, we propose a complex network-guided strategy-based differential evolution algorithm for training the EDNR model. This strategy adeptly strikes a balance between exploration and exploitation during the search process, significantly enhancing the predictive and generalization capacities of EDNR. To our knowledge, this study represents the inaugural application of dendritic neural regression in real-world prediction scenarios. Extensive experimental findings demonstrate the efficacy of EDNR in accurately predicting building EE with commendable performance. Furthermore, the results of two nonparametric statistical tests affirm the validity and stability of EDNR. Long-baseline neutrino experiments represent the optimal platforms for probing the lepton Yukawa sector of the Standard Model, and significant experiments are either under construction or in the planning stages. This review delves into the scientific motivations behind these facilities, which stem from the pivotal 2012 discovery of the θ 13 mixing angle. We provide an overview of the two ongoing projects, DUNE and HyperKamiokande, detailing their physics potential and the technical hurdles they face. The Berus television tower in Überherrn – a building archaeology on a high modernism building The knowledge of planning and realization on the basis of building archaeology represents a benefit in the research field of the construction history for concrete structures of the high modernism. It also forms the basis for sensitive and conservation‐oriented maintenance; in particular, the identification of concrete surfaces at the time of construction or later renovation measures can be determined in this way. Built in 1954, the expressionist‐looking transmission tower of the Berus transmitter in Überherrn is one of the first television towers in Germany. The Béton brut surface of the three concrete pillars with their formwork board imprints have been preserved in large parts. As part of the building archaeology, new high‐precision survey methods were used to create a detailed survey of the building, which was analyzed from various points of view and compared with the craftsmanship techniques used at the time of construction, also with a view to the question of what conclusions can be made if the building itself is considered as a source. In summary, the article provides a comprehensive view of the construction and construction history of a building which, together with the transmitter hall, which has been awarded the title "Historic Landmark of German Engineering", forms a successful overall architectural and engineering composition. The carbon emissions generated during the construction phase are considerable, and the real-world scenario is replete with uncertainty, which can influence the measurement of carbon emissions and the formulation of a low-carbon construction plan. Considering the influence of uncertain factors, this paper proposes a method for uncertain measurement of construction carbon emission based on discrete event simulation, carbon emission measurement, machine learning, and robustness optimization. The objective is to provide decision-makers with decision support by carrying out construction carbon emission measurement and offering insights into the potential impact of uncertain factors on the measurement process. A method for optimizing the robustness of carbon emissions in construction schemes is also established. To verify the effectiveness of the method, a model for uncertain measurement of carbon emissions is constructed using a practical construction project as an example, and the low-carbon construction scheme is optimized on this basis. The results demonstrate that this method can enhance the resilience of carbon emissions associated with construction projects, maintaining a low-carbon emission profile in the face of uncertainty. Investigating the mathematical and geometric principles embedded in ancient classic architecture is a significant tradition in the history of architectural development. Drawing inspiration from the modular design and creative ideology based on the geometric proportions of squareness and roundness in ancient Chinese architecture, we propose a new mode of squareness and roundness composition based on scale proportion specifically for the design of multi-story buildings. Taking Yingxian Wooden Pagoda as the case study, we not only re-evaluate the modular system and proportional rules followed in the design of the entire pagoda, but also reveal the technical approaches and geometric rules for effectively controlling the form of multi-story buildings. In particular, the mode of squareness and roundness composition based on scale proportion, utilizing a modular grid combined with squareness and roundness drawings as decision-making tools, can control the scale and proportion of buildings across different design dimensions and organically coordinate the design of multi-story buildings' plans and elevations. Thus, it can achieve an effective balance of multi-story architectural forms. This study has potential applications in the creation of traditional multi-story buildings and heritage restoration projects, and offers valuable insights for future research on ancient multi-story buildings. Different excavation methods lead to substantial changes in the relaxation zone of the surrounding rock. The stress characteristics of the support structure become more complex during the process of excavation method conversion. It is essential to design a well-considered construction plan to minimize the disruptions caused by excavation method conversion. This work takes a tunnel in Jiangsu Province, China, as the engineering background and establishes a numerical model for the conversion from the double-side-drift method to the three-bench method. Based on a numerical investigation, this study analyzed the deformation of surrounding rock and the stress state of the support structure during the excavation method conversion. The results showed that excavation method conversion can accelerate the deformation rate of the surrounding rock, causing the support structure to bear greater pressure. This leads to a significant increase in the circumferential stress at the junction of two excavation methods. Setting up a reinforced area during the process of excavation method conversion can improve the stress state of the support structure. Finally, an analysis of the parameters of the reinforced area was conducted, and a reasonable construction plan was proposed. This study can provide guidance for subsequent construction projects. Purpose: Green building (GB) maintenance is increasingly accepted in the construction industry, so it can now be interpreted as an industry best practice for maintenance planning. However, the performance competency and design knowledge of the practice's building control instrument process can be affected by its evaluation and the information management of building information modelling (BIM)–based model checking (BMC). These maintenance-planning problems have not yet been investigated in instances such as the Grenfell Tower fire (14 June 2017, approximately 80 fatalities) in North Kensington, West London. Design/methodology/approach: This study proposes a theoretical framework for analysing the existing conceptualisation of BIM tools and techniques based on a critical review of GB maintenance environments. These are currently employed on GB maintenance ecosystems embedded in project teams that can affect BMC practices in the automation system process. In order to better understand how BMC is implemented in GB ecosystem projects, a quantitative case study is conducted in the Malaysian public works department (Jabatan Kerja Raya (JKR)). Findings: GB ecosystem projects were not as effective as planned due to safety awareness, design planning, inadequate track insulation, environmental (in) compatibility and inadequate building access management. Descriptive statistics and an ANOVA were applied to analyse the data. The study is reinforced by a process flow, which is transformed into a theoretical framework. Originality/value: Industry practitioners can use the developed framework to diagnose BMC application issues and leverage the staff competency inherent in an ecosystem to plan GB maintenance environments successfully. With the advancement of the national "dual carbon" strategic goals and the planning of new energy systems, the proportion of new energy connected to the power grid is rapidly increasing. Therefore, it is urgent to accelerate the planning and construction of energy storage, and promote the transition of the power system from "source-network-load" to "source-network-load-storage" multi entity coordinated evolution. In this context, from the perspective of energy storage as a regulatory resource, this article establishes a comprehensive evaluation index system for the power grid that fits the connotation of the new power system. The selection of indicators follows the SMART principle to ensure the application value and operability of the indicators; and uses the Analytic Hierarchy Process to calculate the weights of each indicator layer by layer. Taking the four provinces in Central China of State Grid as examples for analysis, the evaluation results of each province can be clearly quantified, among which Hunan has the highest comprehensive score. The research results of this article have certain guiding significance for the implementation and comprehensive evaluation of energy storage planning in various regional power grids. The United Nations 2030 plan establishes the incorporation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as a multidisciplinary focus for training new specialized human resources. In engineering, the SDGs have been integrated into the curriculum as optional subjects. In this report, we present an investigation into implementing the SDGs in a Biomimicry and Sustainability course offered during the spring and fall semesters of 2022, with 194 students divided into six groups. Using challenge-based learning, students proposed utilizing wind or solar resources to generate electricity in a selected region. They were asked to conduct extensive research and precise engineering calculations to ensure the viability of their alternative energy sources. Additionally, each group had to select three or more SDGs that best aligned with their proposal, justifying their choices. The evaluation of the reports was based on rubrics and checklists that assessed the integrity of their argumentation and the adequacy of the report components. Most students chose SDGs 7, 11, and 13. In an anonymous survey, students expressed that incorporating the SDGs into the assignment significantly enhanced the importance of their learning experience. We recommend that other educators follow suit and incorporate the SDGs into their students’ projects or proposals, irrespective of whether their institution has a sustainability plan, aiming to transform sustainability into a competency rather than a fixed concept. Production planning and control are critical to project success. They are conventionally understood as linking planning and production by coordinating tasks prior to installation work. However, research has highlighted workers as autonomous and decentralized planners of installation work, which challenges conventional management perspectives. Performing task-level planning and control requires resources and effort, reducing the time spent on installation work. This study explores workers' planning practices by examining the use of higher-level plans and other information sources and by analyzing workers' information needs and the factors determining them. A survey of Finnish construction workers was conducted. The results show that some workers prefer planning tasks before arriving at the construction site, while others prefer planning tasks during on-site work preparation. Trade- and crew-specific factors influence planning earlier or later and determine the extent to which centralized and decentralized sources and practices are used. Decentralized sources and practices are most often used to meet workers' information needs, although centralized sources and practices are also used. These findings may help construction stakeholders better understand the information sources and practices used by workers. The use of Building Information Modelling (BIM) technology is recently becoming an increasingly influential factor in the successful completion of construction projects. Providing a wide range of technical enhancements to the design process (for example software for 3D modelling), BIM also offers a wide range of tools for managing construction projects. The goal of Building Information Modelling is to eliminate gaps in data transmission between different stages of the life cycle of a construction project. In this context, BEP, or BIM Execution Plan, is an essential document in the BIM concept. It functions as a tool for managing a project, both from the human resources perspective, such as meeting deadlines, and from the perspective of preserving and transferring graphical and non-graphical data of the project. Furthermore, it provides a detailed plan for building design, construction, and facility management, helping to ensure that all stakeholders are in line with the project's goals. Building Information Modelling (BIM) methodology has been supporting the construction activity in all sectors involved: multidisciplinary designs development; construction planning and monitoring; building management and maintenance. A BIM environment aggregates several specialties and related professionals and in order to control and improve the quality of a BIM project, a BIM manager is required. The BIM manager has the responsibility to coordinate all tasks involved in a building design and in the associated activities that are usually workout over the project documents. A BIM platform can be considered as a useful resource for multidisciplinary coordination, extending the BIM 3D modelling scope into the construction planning and after, in the operation and maintenance stages. A BIM manager is then required: to incentive the collaboration at work and to control responsibility given to each professional involved; to guaranty the correction of the amount and quality of the information, included in each BIM model step, and transferred between tasks; to coordinate all designs and the distinct mandatory activities (conflict detection, cost estimation or energetic simulation). The topic of the present study is illustrated with three building cases were distinct specific projects, disciplines and tasks were developed: structural analyses and reinforcement details; quantity take-off of materials and cost estimation; construction scheduling and simulation. The study presents the relevance of a correct coordination within the development of building projects. Although there are limitations in the implementation of BIM methodology in all sectors or activities within the construction industry, BIM has been bringing an important improvement in the quality of a building design, reflected in the quality of the final product. The Building Information Modelling (BIM) methodology has been adopted in the construction industry, supporting the development of projects. Its implementation has improved the collaboration and integration in the design context, increasing the accuracy of the project preparation and the decreasing additional costs and delays of the construction work. The main objective of the present research is to provide an overview of the state of the art of BIM applications, namely, concerning the construction planning. For that, the generation of a BIM 3D model, involving the disciplines of architecture, structures and water supply system was performed. After, over the model a conflict analysis was applied, in order to verify the consistency of all the disciplines, when linked together. In order to obtain a visual simulation of the construction process, the correspondent 4D BIM model was also generated. Along the development of the study, several BIM software were applied over a case study. The Center for Underground Physics of the Institute for Basic Science (IBS) in Korea has been planning the construction of a deep underground laboratory since 2013 to search for extremely rare interactions such as dark matter and neutrinos. In September 2022, a new underground laboratory, Yemilab, was finally completed in Jeongseon, Gangwon Province, with a depth of 1,000 m and an exclusive experimental area spanning 3,000m³. The tunnel is encased in limestone and accommodates 17 independent experimental spaces. Over 2 years, from 2023 to 2024, the Yangyang Underground Laboratory facilities will be relocated to Yemilab. Preparations are underway for the AMoRE-II, a neutrinoless double beta decay experiment, scheduled to begin in Q2 2024 at Yemilab. Additionally, Yemilab includes a cylindrical pit with a volume of approximately 6,300m³, designed as a multipurpose laboratory for next-generation experiments involving neutrinos, dark matter, and related research. Hub airports typically have multiple parallel runways, requiring aircraft to transfer between them. This increases the risk of runway incursions. End-around taxiways (EATs) mitigate such risk by enabling bypassing without runway crossings. This review summarizes 15 EAT layouts worldwide and presents two classification methods: by configuration (N-type, M-type, Large N-type) and by operational relationship with runways (back-around, runway end-around, start-around). The key benefits of EATs were manifold, including the reduction of runway incursions, controller workload, and delays while improving communication safety, capacity, and efficiency. However, drawbacks such as increased land use, construction costs, and potentially longer taxi times and distances should be considered. Therefore, the optimization of the EAT layout is essential. In pursuit of optimal design, considerations should encompass limiting obstacle surfaces, flight procedures, navigation/lighting facilities, jet blast, and visual obstructions from end-around aircraft to departing aircraft. Notably, challenges arise in reducing distances between EATs and thresholds/ends. The given solutions include displacing thresholds, creating "sunken" lowered elevation EATs, and utilizing terrain shielding instead of metallic visual screens. A case study was introduced to demonstrate the successful improvement of the EAT via sunken EATs and terrain shielding at Guiyang Airport. Grasslands play a vital role in the global ecosystem. Efficient and reproducible methods for estimating the grassland aboveground biomass (AGB) are crucial for understanding grassland growth, promoting sustainable development, and assessing the carbon cycle. Currently, the available methods are limited by their computational inefficiency, model transfer, and sampling scale. Therefore, in this study, the estimation of grassland AGB over a large area was achieved by coupling the PROSAIL model with the support vector machine regression (SVR) method. The ill-posed inverse problem of the PROSAIL model was mitigated through kernel-based regularization using the SVR model. The Zoigê Plateau was used as the case study area, and the results demonstrated that the estimated biomass accurately reproduced the reference AGB map generated by zooming in on on-site measurements (R2 = 0.64, RMSE = 43.52 g/m2, RRMSE = 15.13%). The estimated AGB map also maintained a high fitting accuracy with field sampling data (R2 = 0.69, RMSE = 44.07 g/m2, RRMSE = 14.21%). Further, the generated time-series profiles of grass AGB for 2022 were consistent with the trends in local grass growth dynamics. The proposed method combines the advantages of the PROSAIL model and the regression algorithm, reduces the dependence on field sampling data, improves the universality and repeatability of grassland AGB estimation, and provides an efficient approach for grassland ecosystem construction and planning. Crane-lift planning is critical but challenging to ensure construction safety and efficiency for the installation of heavy components. It engages a group decision-making process that involves various stakeholders to exchange knowledge of crane capabilities, site characteristics, and operational feasibility. However, conventional planning methods based on drawings, animations, and standalone virtual prototypes are inefficient in enabling collaborative decision-making due to rigid visualization and inflexible interactions among different stakeholders. This paper aims to develop a collaborative heavy lift planning (Co-HeLP) system that engages crane suppliers, site managers, and crane operators in an immersive and shared environment for crane layout optimization and lifting simulation. Specifically, the system incorporates a multiuser networking unit to enable stakeholders to design crane-lift layouts concurrently and synchronize changes in real time for facilitating information-sharing and collaborative planning. In addition, a cross-platform virtual reality (VR) unit is developed to provide stakeholders with role-tailored interactions of crane allocation and first-person operation. Automatic feasibility checking is also formulated to assist stakeholders in appraising jib reach limits and loading capacities more efficiently. The system is demonstrated using a real-life modular building project that involves the installation of multiple bulky modules. To evaluate the system, two groups of industry practitioners from crane suppliers and main contractors conducted heavy lift planning using Co-HeLP, where their responses were collected using questionnaire-based surveys and interviews. Results show that the system is rated highly on automatability (0.77/1), collectiveness (0.81/1), and applicability (0.85/1), with the advantages of full-scale visualization and multirole interactions. This paper opens up new possibilities for stakeholders to jointly manage crane-lift constraints and build consensus on layout plans through a mutually interactive and role-independent shared environment. More broadly, the paper derives a generic multiuser VR mechanism to address fragmented coordination and inefficient knowledge transfer, thereby facilitating collective planning and management in construction. Scheduling for a construction project with a limited number of machines is a critical and well-studied problem. Most studies assume that task processing times are exact; in practice, delays frequently occur, rendering the initial work plan invalid. Therefore, adaptability is crucial to the success of a project. This work introduces a fuzzy optimization model for the planning of construction projects executed simultaneously and having only one backhoe. The model assumes imprecise task processing times, represented by triangular fuzzy sets, that accept delays up to a permitted degree of tolerance. The model solution obtains a fuzzy work plan. This is a robust plan that supports incidents (delays). A method to apply the model was created. The fuzzy model can help construction companies reduce delays in the delivery of their projects and avoid excessive penalties. The model was implemented in the CPLEX solver, which can quickly obtain an optimal solution for small and medium instances. For large instances, the model must be solved with metaheuristics. Australian local government does not enjoy the status of its counterparts in comparable democracies and has long sought acknowledgment in the federal constitution. As these campaigns have consistently failed, this study considers how, and in which forms, local government obtains its own political legitimacy within a governance system centered on the citizen-state relationship, in addition to evaluating the relationships between the different forms of legitimacy. We find that positive perceptions of local government effectiveness are associated with higher levels of support for constitutional change, but that local governments need to pay more attention to systems of accountability and oversight, how building and planning issues are handled, and how they communicate with residents. Generally, and unsurprisingly, local government is appreciated more by those who rely on their services yet who are not always the loudest voices in public debates. In accordance with the provisions of Article 22E of the Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia Year 1945, Indonesia held a democracy to elect a leader or president, commonly called an election. In its implementation, the 2019 election was very controversial due to the many hoax news circulating. It was found from several sources that this hoax is very extreme and has the process of running the people's Democratic Party both from the elements of dropping the good name of a person and institution, as well as news provocation against the election organizing body itself. Objective of this study is to build digital information literacy ahead of the 2024 general election through Instagram. The research method used in this research is development research with a 4D research model (Define, Design, Development, Disseminate). The results of this research are 1) Penabuta-24 as an Instagram platform to build digital information literacy to explain the 2024 general election and counteract disinformation; 2) The content presented in Penabuta-24 are digital information literacy campaigns, periodic educational content, live sessions or webinars, collaboration with trusted news accounts, contests or competitions, using hashtags and labels, monitoring and reports, collaboration with government and social organizations, and self-assessment and evaluation. Accurately predicting construction costs during the initial planning stages is crucial for the successful completion of construction projects. Recent advancements have introduced various machine learning-based methods to enhance cost estimation precision. However, the accumulation of authentic construction cost data is not straightforward, and existing datasets frequently exhibit a notable presence of missing values, posing challenges to precise cost predictions. This study aims to analyze diverse substitution methods for addressing missing values in construction cost data. Additionally, it seeks to evaluate the performance of machine learning models in cost prediction through the removal of conditional outliers. The primary goal is to identify and propose optimal strategies for handling missing value in construction cost records, ultimately improving the reliability of cost predictions. According to the analysis results, among single imputation methods, median imputation emerges as the most suitable, while among multiple imputation methods, lasso regression imputation produces the most superior outcomes. This research contributes to enhancing the trustworthiness of construction cost predictions by presenting a pragmatic approach to managing missing data in construction cost performance records, thereby facilitating more precise project planning and execution. Combined sewer overflow (CSO) can lead to serious urban water environment pollution and health risks to residents. Low Impact Development (LID) facilities are one of the important measures to alleviate CSO and have been widely applied. The rational selection of LID facility types, locations, and scales is the most important task, which can effectively improve resource utilization efficiency. Based on the NSGA-II multi-objective optimization algorithm and coupled with the SWMM sewer network hydraulic model, this study takes the combined sewer overflows and the construction cost of LID facilities as optimization objectives and optimizes the types and scales of LID layout in the study area, including eight different return periods. By using the Pareto frontier and visualizing the results of the model, the effects of different rainfall return periods on the CSO control and investment cost of LID layout schemes are compared. The results show the following: (1) the optimization model can demonstrate the relationship between CSO control volume and LID construction cost under different LID layout schemes through the Pareto frontier, showing three different trends, indicating that the relationship between overflow volume and investment cost is nonlinear; (2) with the increase in rainfall intensity, higher requirements are proposed for LID schemes to meet CSO control targets, leading to a decrease in the number of Pareto frontier solution sets. Under larger rainfall intensities, it is difficult to achieve the same overflow control effect by increasing the scale of LID construction. Therefore, considering constraining the LID construction cost between RMB 5.3 and 5.38 million is helpful to determine the most suitable solution; (3) in the optimal layout schemes under different return periods, 87.3% of the locations where LID is deployed have similar scales. Based on these locations with a relatively large proportion of deployment, it can be determined that special attention should be paid to spatial positions in LID planning and construction. This study provides valuable insights for solving combined sewer overflow problems and optimizing urban drainage management and provides guidance for future planning and decision-making processes.
