This article examines the economic performance of Malaysia under the Anwar administration in its first year. Despite global challenges, Malaysia's economy showed signs of recovery from the pandemic, driven by increased demand for electrical and electronic exports. The government implemented various economic initiatives, including the Madani Economy, to enhance the country's economic performance. The article also discusses macroeconomic stabilization policies, such as fiscal and monetary measures, that were introduced. It highlights the decline in economic growth over the past two decades, attributed to low levels of capital formation and innovation, as well as the decrease in the manufacturing sector's contribution to GDP. The Anwar administration has launched the Malaysia Madani vision and policy framework, focusing on social justice and democracy. The budget for 2023 was not ratified due to the dissolution of parliament, but an interim budget was tabled to ensure continued funding for government operations.
