Aims: The aim of this study was to conduct a bibliometric analysis of the relevant literature on Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) to ascertain its current status, identify key areas of research and demonstrate the evolution of the field. Methods: The analysis sourced documents from the Science Citation Index Expanded in the Web of Science core collection, utilizing CiteSpace software and an online bibliometric platform to analyze collaborative networks among authors, institutions and countries, and to map out the research landscape through journal and reference evaluations. Keyword analyses, including clustering and emergent term identification, were conducted, alongside the development of knowledge maps. Results: The study included 9,277 documents, indicating a rising publication trend in the field. The Institut National de la Santé et de la Recherche Médicale emerged as the top publishing institution, with Francesco Muntoni as the most prolific author. The United States dominated in publication output, showcasing significant leadership. The keyword analysis highlighted 786 key emergent terms, primarily focusing on the mechanisms, diagnostics and treatment approaches in DMD. Conclusion: The field of DMD research is experiencing robust growth, drawing keen interest globally. The 2021 WHO Classification of Tumors of the Central Nervous System (fifth edition) was released. One of the biggest differences between new edition tumors classification and the previous editions is that the pediatric ⁃ type diffuse low ⁃ grade gliomas and the pediatric ⁃ type diffuse high ⁃ grade gliomas are classified into independent tumor families. This change is based on the fact that although pediatric ⁃ type diffuse gliomas morphologically resemble their adult counterparts, while their molecular genetics features are completely different, and the prognosis of these tumors with different molecular genetics features is different accordingly, so different treatment strategies are needed. Physicians and surgeons need to know of the features of these pediatric ⁃ type diffuse gliomas. This paper reviews the existing literature, and the pathological reports and imaging data of our hospital, summarizes the imaging and pathological diagnostic features, as well as the clinical manifestations, prognostic features and treatment suggestions of these pediatric⁃type diffuse gliomas. This review will provide an annotation from the view of diagnosis and treatment on pediatric⁃type diffuse gliomas for the physicians and surgeons.

Objective: Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a devastating neurodegenerative disease. Research indicates that N6-methyladenosine (m6A) modification plays a crucial role in cellular autophagy during ALS development. This study investigates the role of autophagy in ALS, with a focus on the effect of messenger ribonucleic acid m6A methylation modification on disease progression. Material and Methods: We compared m6A levels and regulatory molecule expressions in transgenic superoxide dismutase (SOD1)-G93A and non-transgenic mice, categorized into end-stage and control groups, using quantitative polymerase chain reaction and Western blotting. The NSC-34 cell line, which was modified to model ALS, enabled the investigation of apoptosis, autophagy, and autophagy disruption through terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase deoxyuridine triphosphate nick-end labeling assays, Western blotting, and fluorescent staining. Results: Our findings indicate significantly elevated m6A methylation levels in ALS mice (0.262 ± 0.005) compared with the controls (0.231 ± 0.003) and in the ALS model cells (0.242±0.005) relative to those belonging to the wild-type control group (0.183 ± 0.007). Furthermore, the proteins involved in m6A RNA modification differed between groups, which suggest impaired autophagy flux in the ALS models. Conclusion: These results suggest that m6A methylation may accelerate ALS progression through the disruption of autophagic processes. Our study underscores the role of m6A methylation in the pathology of ALS and proposes the targeting of m6A methylation as a potential therapeutic strategy for disease treatment. Although this study primarily used transgenic SOD1-G93A mice and NSC-34 cell models to investigate ALS pathology, potential differences in disease mechanisms between animal models and humans must be considered. Although a correlation was detected between m6A methylation levels and autophagy disruption in ALS, the study primarily established an association rather than provided detailed mechanistic insights. This brief communication finds a clear and universal inequality of authors' reference reuse behaviour. We observe that a few references are reused many times in an author's oeuvre while most of his or her references only occur in the reference list for quite a limited number of times. A power law distribution depicts such an inequality. We particularly utilise the power value, α , to characterise the nuanced difference of such inequalities. A pilot study based upon Microsoft Academic Graph (MAG) shows that the α tends to be normally distributed, regardless of whether it is from a citing or a cited perspective. Our empirical study also reveals that the α of highly cited publications tends to be greater than that of lowly cited ones, yet we also observe a saturation when the number of citations increases.
