The impact of partner abuse on women has been widely studied, but little considered for male victims. This study aims to fill that gap. Mental well-being and loneliness were quantified using standard measures for a cohort of non-resident fathers in Wales. The study population had higher loneliness and lower wellbeing than Welsh men in general. Of eight predictor variables which might potentially have an association with these adverse impacts, the fathers' risk from partner abuse was the variable most strongly associated; its effect size was large and significant. The severity and prevalence of the observed degraded well-being and severe loneliness challenge the notion that partner abuse of men is either relatively uncommon compared with that of women, or that it is less impactful. Communities can stimulate the growth of their economies by pursuing business expansion and retention (BEAR) initiatives. Services commonly offered by BEAR organizations include information on financing, research assistance, labor recruiting assistance, wage and benefit surveys, industry tours, and industry recognition. A BEAR program is discussed that is designed for targeting selected businesses and that involves the use of volunteers.

Several models are used to analyze the pricing and incentive issues involved in the assignment of customers to servers that suffer congestion effects. The models are employed in evaluating the different parameters that affect pricing, routing and incentive compatibility, such as the waiting time and customer arrival rates. Results indicate that the optimal pricing and routing scheme is incentive compatible when customers are made to pay a price that reflects the cost they impose on other customers.

Studies have demonstrated that in-class small groups have a positive effect on students' learning (Johnson & Johnson, 2002; 2015). This study addresses the question of how strategic in-class small groups could affect students' senses of connectedness with other students. In this study, students were grouped based on their scores on a college persistence questionnaire. Some students were in the groups with similar persistence scores, and some students were in the groups with contrasting persistence scores. Our results indicated that students in the contrasting persistence groups rated their small group experience as more positive, and they felt more connected with other students. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
