The study evaluate the phytochemical and antimicrobial potential of different extract of Halodule pinifolia. There are many potential groups of seagrass species that produce a variety of secondary metabolites. The seagrass species Halodule pinifolia, which is frequently found along the Thanjavur coastal area, was chosen for its bioactive potential. The agar diffusion method was used to test the seagrass extract's resistance to E. coli, B. subtilis, A. niger, and C. albicans. A aqueous seagrass extract was phytochemically screened and found to contain reducing sugars, alkaloids, saponins, phenolic compounds, flavonoids, and carbohydrates. According to the study's findings, the plant under study has broad-spectrum antimicrobial properties and may be an effective antioxidant for biological systems that are vulnerable to free radical-mediated reactions.

The aim of this work was to study the phytochemical and antimicrobial activity of seagrass extracts of Halodulepinifolia on clinical isolated pathogens. Seagrass species have very potential groups producing several secondary metabolites. The bioactive potential of seagrass species viz., Halodulepinifolia occurring commonly along the Thanjavur coastal area was selected. We evaluate the phytochemical and antimicrobial potential of different extracts of Halodulepinifolia. The extract of the seagrass was tested against E.coli, B.subtilis, A.nigerand C.albicans by agar diffusion method. Phytochemical screening revealed the presence of carbohydrates, reducing sugars, alkaloids, saponins, phenolic compounds and flavonoids in aqueous seagrass extract. The results of the present study conclude that the studied plant possesses broad-spectrum antimicrobial properties and may act as a potent antioxidant for biological systems susceptible to free radical-mediated reactions.

The solitary entoproct species, Loxosomella diopatricola is recorded from the Bay of Bengal, southeastern coast of India. The species was found on the eunicid polychaete Diopatra sp. collected from depth of 15 m. Loxosomella diopatricola is a medium-sized species with average body length up to 396 µm, eight tentacles and oval in calyx shape. The Loxosomella diopatricola was first time recorded in India. A list of all Loxosomella species associated with polychaetes is given.

Acute pancreatitis is an acute inammatory condition of pancreas that can range from mild self-limiting disease to severe pancreatitis charecterised by acute inammation,necrosis,Systemic Inammatory Response Syndrome(SIRS),Multi Organ Dysfunction Syndrome(MODS) and death. The atherogenic index of plasma(AIP) reects the TG and HDL levels calculated as log(TG/HDL).AIP is a biomarker for dyslipidemia ,metabolic syndrome , coronary syndrome.Low HDL level and elevated TG level is a well known risk factor for persistent organ failure in acute pancreatitis.In this study we aim to correlate serum triglycerides and HDL levels with severity of acute pancreatitis, All patients with rst episode of acute pancreatitis with serum amylase and/or lipase ≥3 times the upper normal limit and Characteristic imaging on a radiological study were included in the study. Clinical data and blood samples were obtained patients' diagnoses of AP. . The AIP was dened as log (TG/HDL). The severity of AP was evaluated according to the 2012 revised Atlanta classication and recorded as mild, moderately severe, or severe AP.statistical analysis was done and results were derived as Atherogenic Index of plasma(AIP) was signicantly higher in the SAP group. Background: Diagnosis of pulmonary tuberculosis (PTB) is the major concern of proper diagnosis and for effective treatment of PTB. Despite the recent advancement in diagnostic methods, the smear microscopy remains the gold standard for the diagnosis of PTB in high burden countries. Design: This study, therefore, aimed at assessing the diagnostic performance of fluorescein diacetate (FDA) and Ziehl–Neelsen (ZN) staining techniques in the diagnosis of PTB for vulnerable group of population HIV, smoker, health care workers, and malnutrition people and confirmed with Mycobacterium Growth Indicator Tube (MGIT) liquid culture to check the viability. Samples were collected from Intermediate Reference Laboratory, Karnataka, from November 2019 to March 2020. A total of 350 samples were collected and these were stained using ZN method as per National Tuberculosis Elimination Program norms and FDA method followed by liquid culture using the MGIT 960 to check for the viability of the bacilli and correlate with the results of the FDA viability staining method. Results: The study demonstrates that the sensitivity and specificity of FDA viable fluorescent staining to that of liquid MGIT culture were 98.6% and 100%, respectively, while those of ZN staining were 55.8% and 100%, respectively. Conclusion: Hence, we concluded that the FDA staining technique is a more sensitive test for checking the viability of AFB among PTB suspect, as compared to the conventional ZN-stained smear observation.
