Qualified teachers are expected to have competence in content knowledge as well as pedagogical knowledge. In the age of technology in order to create better teaching and learning process, it is also vital for teachers having web pedagogical content knowledge. In this study it is aimed to define web pedagogical content knowledge level of early childhood teachers. The participants of the study are 60 early childhood teachers from Çankaya province of Ankara who work both in state and private schools. Web Pedagogical Content Knowledge Scale which is developed by Lee, Tsai and Chang (2008) and adapted to Turkish by Hor¬zum (2011) is used in the study. The scale is consisted of 30 items and 5 factors. The sub items are web-general, web-communicative, web-pedagogical knowledge, web-pedagogic content knowledge and attitudes towards web-based instruction. Besides, a general information form is delivered which is consisted of the age, graduation, teaching experience, computer availability at home, Internet access at home, computer availability at school and Internet access at school. In this study, all the correlations between these data are analyzed and the results are discussed.

Game-based drama which activates children's emotions in contrast to traditional passive listening; which makes children physically and mentally active; which makes them synthesize their knowledge and declare their thoughts independently is an alternative powerful method. By keeping in mind the positive effects of drama method on education, it is thought that a study on the use of drama method for educating K12 children of computers might be effective. There is no doubt that, computers are beneficial for children's success at their schools and their self-development. However, unconscious use of computers might be harmful to children both physically and psychologically. For this reason, the significant issues 'ethics' and 'health' regarding computer usage should be handled carefully at computer education. At this point, being far away from classical teaching methods, an atmosphere in which children will learn by doing and in which they will internalize knowledge is needed. This can be managed by the drama method., Geleneksel eğitim sisteminin sunduğu pasif dinlemeye karşı oyun temelli öğrenme ortamı sunan drama yöntemi güçlü bir alternatiftir. Bu yöntemle, çocukların duyguları harekete geçirilir, çocuklar bedenen ve zihnen aktif olarak, kendi yaşantılarından yola çıkarak bilgileri özümserler ve düşüncelerini özgürce ifade ederler. Eğitimdeki etkileri göz önünde bulundurularak, drama yönteminin ilköğretim kademesinde verilen bilgisayar eğitimi derslerinde kullanılmasına yönelik bir çalışmanın verimli olacağı düşünülmektedir. Bilgisayar, bilinçli bir kullanım ile çocukların kişisel gelişim ile eğitimdeki başarılarına şüphesiz katkı sağlayacaktır. Fakat bilinçsiz bir kullanım onlara hem fiziksel hem de ruhsal olarak zarar verebilmektedir. Bu nedenle bilgisayar eğitiminde özellikle "etik" ve "sağlık" konularında hassasiyetle durulmalıdır. Bu noktada klasik eğitim sisteminin kalıplarının dışına çıkarak çocukların yaparak, yaşayarak öğrenecekleri, bilgiyi içselleştirebilecekleri bir ortama ihtiyaçları vardır ve bu ortam drama yöntemi ile sağlanabilir.

In this study, the researcher firstly defines what a Learning Management System is. Later, the researcher talks about the main steps to be followed in the evaluation of a Learning Management System. Finally, a sample model system has been analyzed from the given aspects. In this analysis, the researcher has focused on the general principles that a learning management system should consist of., Bu çalışmada öncelikli olarak Öğrenme Yönetimi Sistemi kavramının ne olduğu üzerinde durulmaktadır. Sonrasinda bir öğrenmeyönetimi sisteminin analizinde ele alinacak basamaklardan söz edilmiştir. However, survival of these materials is concerned with how much they are adopted by the users. Usability studies with users can help in designing an efficient and user-friendly online learning material and its interfaces. The aim of the current research is to reveal the kinds of perceptions users have towards the usability of an online learning material which would guide the modifications and improvements to be made on it. Therefore, both quantitative and qualitative data has been collected from the users and the collected data analyzed descriptively and with qualitative data analysis methods. The findings of the study are supposed to be used by the practitioners as a to-do list for improvements to be made on the prototype and guide other practitioners how to implement a usability study in the development phase of an online learning material, tool or system.

Bu araştırmanın amacı, ortaöğretim öğrencilerinin İnternete ilişkin metaforlarını belirlemek ve analiz etmektir. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu Konya nın Çumra ilçesinde ve Karaman il merkezinde bulunan birer devlet ortaöğretim okulunda öğrenim gören 251 öğrenci oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmanın verileri araştırmacılar tarafından hazırlanan İnternet. gibidir/benzer, çünkü. ibaresini içeren formlar vasıtası ile toplanmıştır. Araştırmada, nitel araştırma yöntemi ile olgubilim deseni kullanılmıştır. Verilerin analizinde ise içerik analizi tekniği kullanılmıştır. Toplanan verilerin sonucunda öğrencilerin toplam 92 metafor geliştirdikleri görülmüştür. Geliştirilen bu metaforlar 8 farklı kategoride toplanmıştır. Bu çalışmanın sonucunda yaşları 15-18 arasında değişen ortaöğretim öğrencilerinin İnterneti en çok Bilgi kaynağı en az ise İletişim aracı kavramı olarak algıladıkları tespit edilmiştir., The purpose of the research study was to determine and analyze the metaphors of the secondary school students regarding the concept of the Internet. The research study was carried out with 251 secondary school students in çumra, Konya and Karaman. The data were gathered through a form which included the phrase The Internet is similar to/same as.. .because developed by the researchers. The qualitative data collection methods and phenomenon science design were used. For the data analysis, the content analysis technique was used. After the data analysis, it was observed that the students generated 90 metaphors. These metaphors were grouped into 8 different categories. It was found out that for the secondary school students who were between the age of 15-18, the Internet is mostly an information source but a communication tool at least.

Çevrimiçi öğrenme ortamlarında, öğrencilerin başarılarını etkileyen özel faktörler ve karakteristiklerin tanımlanması üzerine birçok araştırma yapılmaktadır. Ancak, halen hem öğrenciler hemde eğitmenler için, başarılı çevrimiçi teşebbüsler oluşturmak için gerekli koşullar hakkında çok fazla belirsizlik vardır. Bu çalışmanın amacı, bir veya iki değişkenle kısıtlamaksızın mezunların bakış açısından çevrimiçi öğrencilerin başarılarını etkileyen faktörleri incelemektir. Çalışma, 2009 yılında Çevrimiçi Bilgi Teknolojileri Sertifika Programı mezunu 40 katılımcıyla yapılmıştır. Verileri analiz etmek için nitel yöntemler kullanılmıştır. Sonuçlar dört ana faktörde kategorize edilmiştir: demografik ve kişisel özellikleri, çalışma stratejileri, motivasyon ve eüdleşim. Çalışmanın sonuçları, gelecek araştırma çalışmaları ve öğrencilerinin başarılı olmaları için nasıl yardım edeceği konusunda fazla bilgi sahibi olmayan diğer çevrimiçi öğrenme kurumları için değerli olabilecektir. There has been a growing body of research on the identification of particular characteristics or factors that can be used to predict learners' success in online learning environments. However, there still exists much uncertainty about the conditions that are essential to create a successful online venture for both learners and educators. The purpose of the study is to investigate the factors that support online learners' success from the online graduates1 perspective without constraining it to one or two constructs. The study included 40 participants who graduated from Online Information Technologies Certificate Program in 2009. The qualitative methods were used to analyze die data. The findings were categorized under four main factors: demographic and personal characteristics, studying strategies, motivation and interaction. The results of the study might be worthy of consideration for future research studies and other online learning institutions who knows little about how to assist learners to be successful.

Baturay, Meltem Huri/0000-0003-2402-6275; WOS: 000298904800006 In this study, the effects of narrative, descriptive and prediction-personal reaction task types with visuals on the oral performance of intermediate level English language learners were compared. The study was carried out at Gazi University Preparatory School, Research and Application Center for the Instruction of Foreign Languages with the participation of eighty five students. The students' oral exam marks based on the assessment of narrative, descriptive and prediction-personal reaction task types for each group were compared and focus-group interviews were carried out with the students in order to get in depth data on the issue. The results showed that there was no significant difference between the narrative, descriptive and prediction-personal reaction task type groups in terms of oral performance scores. However, qualitative data showed that the narrative group students felt more relaxed and free to express themselves in the assessment sessions.

Baturay, Meltem Huri/0000-0003-2402-6275 WOS: 000303201100017 This study integrated Project-based learning (PBL) in an online environment and aimed to investigate critical issues, dynamics, and challenges related to PBL from 49 student perspectives in an online course. The effect of PBL was examined qualitatively with open-ended questionnaire, observations, and students' submissions who were taking an online certificate course. According to the findings, students thought that an online PBL course supports their professional development with provision of practical knowledge, enhanced project development skill, self confidence, and research capability. This support is further augmented with the facilities of the online learning environment. Students mainly preferred team-work over individual work. Although students were mostly satisfied with the course, they still had some suggestions for prospective students and instructors. The findings are particularly important for those people who are planning to organize course or activities which involve online PBL and who are about take an online or face-to-face PBL course.

İnternet teknolojileri, bireylerin sosyal etkileşimle öğrenmelerine imkân sağlayan sohbet odaları ve video konferans gibi bilgi paylaşım ve aktarım ortamlarının altyapısını sağlamaktadır. Video konferans sistemi ile bireyler bulundukları ortamdan ayrılmadan eş zamanlı olarak, düşük maliyetle, etkileşimli eğitim alabilmektedirler. Tıp eğitimi değişim ve yenilenmenin hızlı olduğu alanlardan biridir. Hem hastalara hizmet vermek, hem araştırma yapmak, hem de bir yandan eğitim almak ya da vermek zorunda kalan hekimler bunların tümüne zaman ayırmak ve de yoğunlaşmak konusunda sıkıntı yaşamaktadırlar. Video konferans, hem sürekli tıp eğitimi hem de örgün tıp eğitimini desteklemek adına uygulanabilecek en uygun teknolojik çözümlerden biridir. Bu çalışmada video konferans ile tıp eğitimi ve özellikle de pediatrik kardiyoloji eğitimine odaklanılmıştır. Araştırmacı video konferansla pediatrik elektro kardiyografi (EKG) eğitimi almış tıp eğitimcilerinin bu eğitsel teknolojiden ne kadar memnun kaldıkları ve kendi verdikleri eğitimlerde kullanmak üzere bu teknolojiyi ne kadar benimsedikleri ve avantajları hakkında düşüncelerini araştırmaktadır. Araştırmanın sonuçlarına bakıldığında tıp eğitimcilerinin video konferans sistemiyle verilen eğitimden memnun kaldıkları, bu teknolojinin eğitim ve öğretim amaçlı olarak kullanılmasına karşı güven duymakta oldukları ve bu yöntemin yaygınlaşmasını istedikleri görülmektedir. Eğitim amaçlı kullanılan bu teknoloji tıp eğitimcileri tarafından kabul görmüş ve onları memnun etmiştir. Video konferans sisteminin sağladığı en önemli avantaj olarak ise yer esnekliğinin getirdiği rahatlık ile zaman tasarrufu ifade edilmiştir. Individuals are able to be educated efficiently, interactively, cost effectively and synchronously without leaving their locations through videoconferencing method. Medical education is one of those fields which involve changes and updates. Doctors are supposed to see patients, do research studies, educate others, take lessons and do all of these activities at the same time often struggle with time allocation and concentration problems. Videoconferencing is one of those appropriate technological solutions to be used not only for continuous medical education but also as a support for formal education. This study focuses on medical education especially the pediatric cardiology education through videoconferencing. The researcher investigates the perceptions of medical instructors regarding how much they have satisfied from this educational technology, how much they have adopted it and its advantages. Findings of the study indicate that medical instructors have been satisfied with the instruction given through videoconferencing and rely upon this technology for the purpose of education and hope this method would spread out. The most important advantage of videoconferencing method has been indicated as the comfort of place flexibility and time saving.

Bu araştırmanın amacı; bağlam içerisinde kelime öğretim yöntembilimi ile hazırlanmış web-tabanlı İngilizce kelime öğretim materyalinin aralıklı tekrarlar ‘spaced repetition’ ile öğrenciler üzerindeki etkisini ve sistemin kelimelerin kalıcılığını uzun vadede destekleyip desteklemediğini araştırmaktır. Bağlam içerisindeki kelimelerin sunumları işitsel ve çokluortam kaynakları ile desteklenmiş ve kelimelerin hatırda kalıcılığı için de web-tabanlı öğrenme ortamında aralıklı tekrar yönteminden faydalanılmıştır. Bu materyalin kullanılmasının öğrencilerde kelimelerin sonradan hatırlanması açısından olumlu açıdan fark yaratacağı düşünülmektedir., The research issue, in this study, centers on what underlining factors contribute to effectiveness of a supplementary webbased vocabulary teaching tool. The researcher focuses on the effectiveness of one vocabulary teaching technique, which is the use of context to teach a word. The contextual presentation of the words is enriched with audio and visual multimedia resources and the retention of the words is enhanced with ‘spaced repetitions’ in a web-supported environment. Bu çalısmanın amacı web-tabanlı çoklu ortam destekli baglam modelinde ve aralıklıtekrar ile sözcük ögrenmenin orta düzeyde ngilizce ögrenen ögrencilerdesözcüklerin hatırda kalıcılıgına etkisini ölçmektir. Arastırma materyalin gelistirilmesive uygulanmasını içeren iki temel asamadan olusmaktadır. Web-tabanlı sözcükögrenme materyali'nde (WEBVOCLE) baglam içerisinde sunulan sözcüklerintakdimi sesli çevrimiçi sözlük, resim ve animasyonlar ile zenginlestirilmis, hedefsözcükler bosluk doldurma, çoktan seçmeli alıstırmalar, oyunlar, bulmacalar gibietkilesimli alıstırmalar ile aralıklı tekrarlar yardımıyla ögrencilere tekrarlattırılmıstır.Bu çalısmada tutum anketi, denetim listesi, görüsmeler, grup görüsmeleri ve sözcükhatırlama testleri ile hem nitelik hem de nicelik veri toplanmıstır. Niteliksel verilerinanalizi nitel veri analizi yöntemleriyle yapılmıstır niceliksel veri ise SPSS istatistikyazılımı kullanılarak yapılmıstır. The research studyencompassed two main faces which was related to development of the material andimplementation of it. In WEBVOCLE, which stands for web-based vocabularylearning material, the contextual presentation of vocabulary were enriched withaudible online dictionary, pictures and animations; target words were repeated bythe learners with interactive exercises, such as gap-filling, cloze and multiple choicetest, games, puzzles, in `spaced repetitions?.In the study both qualitative and quantitative data were gathered through attitudequestionnaires, checklists, interviews, focus group interviews and throughvocabulary retention tests. The qualitative data were analyzed according toqualitative data analysis techniques and quantitative data were analyzed using SPSSstatistics software. YÖK Tez ID: 449847 Toplumsal yapıda meydana gelen değişimler, bilim ve teknoloji alanındaki gelişmeleri de zorunlu kılmaktadır. Bu da günümüz eğitim sisteminde uygulanan ve ileride uygulanacak olan eğitim yöntemlerini etkilemektedir. Fen eğitiminin daha etkili şekilde gerçekleştirilebilmesi için ise teknolojinin her safhasından verimli bir şekilde yararlanmak gerekmektedir. Öğrenci merkezli olmayan ve öğrencilerin aktif olmadığı geleneksel öğretim yöntemlerinin aksine geliştirilmiş olan yeni yöntemler, öğrencinin öğrenmede aktif olması gerekliliğinin üzerinde durur. Yeni öğretim yöntemlerinde ise ezbere bilgi yerine, yaparak yaşayarak öğrenme ve öğrencinin önceden sahip olduğu bilgiler ile yeni öğrendiği bilgileri eşleştirip bağlantı kurarak aktif katılımının sağlaması amaçlanmaktadır. Özellikle soyut fen kavramlarının somutlaştırılmasında teknoloji ve internet destekli eğitimden yararlanılabilir. Bu çalışmanın amacı, soyut ve anlaşılması zor olgu, kavram, ilke, yasa, kuram ve olayların yer aldığı fen ve teknoloji derslerinde, bilgisayar ve internetten yararlanılarak, internet destekli eğitim ortamını kullanarak öğretimin kalitesinin geleneksel öğretime göre ne kadar artırılabildiğini araştırmaktır. Bu amaçla çalışmada geleneksel ve internet destekli eğitimin, 6. sınıf öğrencilerinin madde ve ısı ünitesine ilişkin; akademik başarıları, fen ve teknoloji dersine yönelik tutumları, sorgulayıcı öğrenme becerileri ve kavramlara ilişkin algılama düzeyleri açısından farklılık oluşturup oluşturmadığı incelenmektedir. Araştırma, yarı deneysel bir çalışma olup, ön test-son test kontrol gruplu desen kullanılmıştır. Araştırmaya deney (N=25) ve kontrol (N=25) gruplarının benzer olduğu toplam 50 öğrenci katılmıştır. Çalışmada, "Madde ve Isı" ünitesindeki kazanımların öğretiminde deney grubunda internet destekli öğretim yöntemi, kontrol grubunda ise geleneksel yaklaşım yöntemi uygulanmıştır. Çalışmada veri toplama aracı olarak Akademik Başarı Testi, Fen ve Teknoloji Dersine Yönelik Tutum Ölçeği, Sorgulayıcı Öğrenme Becerileri Algı Ölçeği ve Kavram Haritaları uygulanmıştır. Araştırma hipotezlerini test etmek için, bağımlı ve bağımsız gruplar için Wilcoxon testi kullanılarak değerlendirilmiştir. Yapılan analizler sonucunda, internet destekli öğretim yönteminin öğrencilerin akademik başarıları üzerinde geleneksel öğretim yöntemlerine göre daha etkili olduğu, fen ve teknoloji dersine yönelik tutumlarında, sorgulayıcı öğrenme becerileri ve kavram algılarında olumlu yönde etki yaptığı tespit edilmiştir. Changes in socio structure of societies force development in science and technology, thus affecting teaching methods of today and future. Teaching science in a more effective way requires use of each phase of developments in technology. New methods in teaching science require the student to participate more actively in learning in contrast to older methods which are not studient oriented and within which student does not participate in process actively. The abovementioned methods cover participation of the student in learning actively by constructing a bridge between old information and recently acquired information by practice instead of rehearsing. Computer and technology aided teaching may prove functional in turning abstract science subject into concrete in student?s mind. The aim of this study is to investigate whether the level of change in teaching quality of science and technology courses which cover abstract facts, concepts, principles, law and events can be enriched through use of computer and Internet in computer medium compared to the traditional methods. Another aim of is the study to analyze effect of Internet based learning from perspectives of academic success, attitude towards science and technology course, skills of learning through inquiry, perception level for concepts of students of sixth class of preliminary schools within scope of ?matter and temperature? topic. The study is in empirical nature and covers pattern with preliminary test and final test groups. A total of 50 students consisting of experimental group of 25 students (N=25) and control group of 25 students (N=25) participated in the study. Within scope of this study, Internet based learning method is applied to experimental group while classical learning method is applied to control group in teaching phase of matter and temperature topic. The instruments used for data collection in the current study cover Academic Success Test, Science Attitude Sscale, Inqurying Learning Perception Scale and Concept Maps. Wilcoxon test is applied to test research hypothesis on dependent and non-dependent groups. The study points out the fact that Internet based learning proves to be more effective than classical learning methods. The results indicate that academic achievement attitude towards science and technology inqury learning skills and concept perceptions of learners significantly increase with the support of Internet based teaching.

Yüksek Lisans Tezi YÖK Merkezi No:311808, Araştırmanın temel amacı, 5E öğrenme modeli ile desteklenmiş Webquest ortamlarının öğrencilerin başarı, memnuniyet ve öğrenme düzeylerine etkisi belirlemektir. Araştırma, 2010- 2011 öğretim yılı bahar döneminde Karaman da bir ortaöğretim kurumunda öğrenimine devam eden 104 10.sınıf öğrenci ile yürütülmüştür. Araştırmaya katılan öğrencilerden 52 tanesi deney grubuna, 52 tanesi ise kontrol grubuna rastgele atanmıştır. Bu araştırmada deneysel yöntem kullanılmıştır. Deneysel çalışmanın yapıldığı bu çalışmada kontrol gruplu öntest-sontest modeli kullanılarak öğrenci başarısı belirlenmiştir. Araştırmada veriler üç ölçek ve bir form yardımı ile toplanmıştır. Bunlardan birincisi, 5E öğrenme modeli ile desteklenmiş Webquest ortamlarının öğrencilerin başarı düzeylerini belirlemeyi amaçlayan ?Bilgisayar ağları ve güvenlik? konusu başarı testi?dir. İkincisi öğrencilerin 5E öğrenme modeli ile desteklenmiş webquest ortamına ilişkin görüşlerini almak için Burchum ve diğerleri (2007) tarafından geliştirilen anketin Webquest ortamının memnuniyet kısmını ölçen bölümü alınmış ve tercüme edilerek çalışmaya uyarlanan ?Webquest Memnuniyet Ölçeği?dir.Üçüncüsü 5E öğrenme modeli ile desteklenmiş Webquest ortamında ders anlatımı sırasında 5E öğrenme modeli ile desteklenmiş Webquest ortamını öğrencilerin nasıl kullandığı tespit edilmesi için ?Dereceli Puanlama Anahtarı (Rubric)? tir. ?Kişisel Bilgi Formu? ise 5E öğrenme modeli ile desteklenmiş Webquest ortamının öğrencilerin memnuniyetine etkisi ve öğrencinin geliştirilen bu ortamı kullanım sırasındaki performansı belirlenirken, öğrencileri karşılaştırmak için kullanılmıştır. Verilerin analizinde genel değerlendirme yapmak için tanımlayıcı istatistiklerden toplam, frekans, aritmetik ortalama, standart sapma kullanılmıştır. Deney kontrol gruplarındaki farklılığı ortaya çıkarmak için eşleştirilmiş t- testi kullanılmıştır. Bunun yanında deney grubuna uygulanan webquest memnuniyet ölçeği ve dereceli puanlama anahtarı (rubric) te yer alan değişkenler arası karşılaştırma yapmak için bağımsız t-testi ve tek yönlü varyans(Anova) analizi kullanılmıştır. Araştırmada yapılan bütün analizler SPSS 15.0 (Statistical Package for Social Sciences) paket programı ile değerlendirilmiştir Araştırma sonucunda elde edilen bulgular doğrultusunda, 5E öğrenme modeli ile desteklenmiş Webquest ortamının öğrencilerin öğrenmelerinde yardımcı olduğu ve öğrenmelerini arttırdığı, bu ortamda ders anlatımı gerçekleştirilen öğrencilerin ders anlatımından memnun oldukları sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Ayrıca 5E öğrenme modeli ile desteklenmiş Webquest ortamında ders anlatımı gerçekleştirilen öğrencilerin bu ortamı etkin kullanımına ilişkin performansının yüksek olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır., The fundamental purpose of this research is to determine effects of WEBQUEST that was supported with 5E learning model on students? achievement, satisfaction and learning. The study was applied with 104 students who are grade 10 in Karaman in 2010-2011 spring term. 52 of these 104 students for experimental group and the others for control group were randomly chosen. In this research, the experimental method was used. First of all, achievement of student was determined by using a pre test-last test model. The data was collected with 3 measures and a form in the study. First of them was supported with 5E learning model. ?Computer networks and security? which has a target to determine level of students? success is achievement test. Second is ?Webquest satisfying measurement that is the questionnaire was expanded by Burchum et al (2007). Third one is ?Graduated rating key (Rubric)? to determine how was used Webquest by students. The individual information form was used to compare students. In analysis of the data, sum, frequency, arithmetic average and standard deviation were used for general assessment. The matching t-test was used to expose differences in the experimental control groups. On the other hand, the independent t-test and unidirectional variance (Anova) analysis was used to compare the variables that are at Webquest satisfaction measurement and graduated rating key (rubric). All analyses in the research was evaluated by SPSS 15.0 (Statistical Package for Social Sciences) program. As a result of the study, effects of Webquest which was supported by 5E learning model on learning were found. Also, students who participate to lectures with Webquest use effectively it was found.

Araştırmanın temel amacı, 5E öğrenme modeli ile desteklenmiş Webquest ortamlarının öğrencilerin başarı, memnuniyet ve öğrenme düzeylerine etkisi belirlemektir. Araştırma, 2010- 2011 öğretim yılı bahar döneminde Karaman da bir ortaöğretim kurumunda öğrenimine devam eden 104 10.sınıf öğrenci ile yürütülmüştür.
