This article addresses the needs to provide more information about American African English (AAE) not only to the students but also to the communities. The authors cite the experience of a woman who received positive and negative reactions from students during her presentation of AAE grammar. They then relate to the continuous efforts of linguists in promoting the fundamental systematic of AAE and comment to the failure of linguists in explaining AAE grammar. Moreover, they suggest the need to offer more information about AAE to the communities rather than asking the students to choose between the grammatical knowledge they learned in college classroom and the knowledge they heard when they return home.
